There seems to be some idea that men by 80 lose inches two inches.
Not generally.
Maybe 1 inch or a bit more.
Some walk with bad posture.
Of course there are those like Arnie who lost earlier (was 6'1 zone now weak 5'11) due to steroids ans all the strain on body.
Biden probably lost 1 inch was 6'0.25 now 5'11.3 max
Trump similar.

For his age, he has done well in maintaining his height. Still looks like someone who would clear 5'11 if measured today. If there's another thing I've noticed about Joe, he's very upright for his age. Most people at 80 yo are already stooped over slightly but it doesn't seem the case for him.

Can see a large decline as he needs assistance walking a good amount of time with his wife Jill.

As someone who has met Janša many times i can tell you he is very similar to Biden in height, maybe a shade taller. He is definitely shorter than me, but not by much. 182-183 could be his range. Actually, he was measured 184 cm back in 1988 when he was jailed (i actually have a picture saying 184 cm but don't know how to put it on), but 184 is a bit high for him, he didnt look it in 2019 (or maybe he has lost some height).

Any guesses for Ron DeSantis? He could do with a listing. He’s a hard guy to place because of his heavy build, I think he’s under 6 foot, though I read somewhere 5 foot 9, which seems too short. He wears solid looking shoes most of the time but when he is photographed in a group of guys such as law enforcement he measures up. He isn’t much taller then his wife, though, who looks just above average for a woman. I’d go for maybe a weak 5’11 say 1.80m with his build and short limbs / long torso making him seem shorter at times.

Trump could realistically have a 44-45” waist and 48” chest, and he’s currently nearly 4 inches taller than my stepdad. My stepdad’s just got visceral fat round his gut where as Trump’s got fat everywhere. I’d say he’s 270-280

Age and height... I know a couple of examples, a former neighbour (a WW2 vet) was around for a long, long time. Even around age 90 he continued to stand tall, impeccable posture, brisk walk, and was still "tall", in the range of my own height (over 180 cm), and thus very probably 185 cm as a young man. You'd NEVER have guessed he was that old in any way.
I suppose in that physical sense, Biden is similar. He has constantly stayed active, he's not just sitting around. He has no intention of "giving up". I don't think it's basically anything more complicated than that.

When you're comparing him to Trump, Obama, Bill Clinton... I think it's especially relevant to remember his age. Biden is older than any of those guys, especially Obama. Stop to think that Biden was (as Vice President) about 20 years older than Obama and almost 70 years old, that's apples to oranges if you look at pictures from that era.
There's the picture of Biden with REAGAN that's been mentioned and other old, I mean OLD, pictures of him. There's one with Jimmy Carter, Biden looked huge next to him.
To whoever replied about Trump being "obese" instead of "overweight", I simply wanted to avoid making it look like a political statement.
But also, "obese" actually means really, REALLY, overweight. I used to be overweight myself, I had a huge gut, had to get larger clothes etc. very visibly just plain fat, but I was never "obese", my BMI was still at max 28.5-29 or something. "Obese" would be more than 30, so do you think Trump weighs significantly more than 100 kg/220 lbs? From the little I've seen, I don't think Trump is THAT heavy, of course it's possible though.

To whoever replied about Trump being "obese" instead of "overweight", I simply wanted to avoid making it look like a political statement.
But also, "obese" actually means really, REALLY, overweight. I used to be overweight myself, I had a huge gut, had to get larger clothes etc. very visibly just plain fat, but I was never "obese", my BMI was still at max 28.5-29 or something. "Obese" would be more than 30, so do you think Trump weighs significantly more than 100 kg/220 lbs? From the little I've seen, I don't think Trump is THAT heavy, of course it's possible though.

I'm going to estimate that the husband is a weak 5'11" and fairly heavy but Biden looks more than an inch taller IMO, I've got to say that Biden's posture is clearly a bit better in the picture but his straightening up to nearly six foot was still feasible in 2013.

I've never had that happen to me fortunately. That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard concerning height. What if someone's wearing internal lifts inside their shoes, and the doctor/nurse isn't aware of it, and only counts the outside thickness? If I was a doctor, not only I'd make my patients take off their shoes, but their socks as well, in case they might be hiding lifts inside their socks.

Editor Robit would be next year another physical, so if he got 11 5/8th a couple years ago, maybe he could lose another fraction. At his age and the efforts he's putting in (when 99.9% of men that age are retired) it can take it's toll on the joints.

Editor Robwell his peak height is up for debate, if he is the next President (which is looking near certain), then I wonder when it comes time for his physical, whether his height will be near 5ft 11 flat...

I agree he is quite fit for 78 which may help with minimizing height loss, although you could argue Clint Eastwood was similarly fit at that age a dozen years ago but lost a lot more, could be a combo of genetics and overdoing weight lifting a bit. Its a good thing Biden is in good shape because this election continues to be heart stoppingly stressful regardless of your age.

Highly doubt he was 184cm, that 182cm measurement was taken in shoes. In US they commonly measure in shoes in medcials. I reckon he was 181-182cm peak barefoot, 180cm today. He wears built shoes, I can tell by the way he walks.

Bernie seems to have lost over 2 inches (Assuming he was 6'0 peak which I am not entirely sure about) and Trump was definitely 6'2 peak but struggles with 184 mark today.

Saw the debate and quite honestly it was hard to gauge Biden and Trump height-wise. From a distant angle there didn’t appear to be much. Trump is most definitely wider (not in a good way) and stout compared to Biden whose looked lean but upright. I suspect Trump wear lifts though

We probably won't see Trump and Biden standing close to each other during the debates. First, for the obvious reason of Covid, and, second, because they don't want to look too friendly with eachother. IIRC Hillary and Trump didn't shook hands or stood close to one another in the 2nd and 3rd debate.
