In the first episode of Welcome Back, Kotter, Travolta is discernibly taller than Gabe Kaplan. Moreover, Kaplan is at least 2 inches taller than James Woods (who appeared in that episode). Of course, who knows the footwear situation, but I think we reasonably assume they all had "70s" shoes or boots on. I would put Travolta at at least 6 feet, Kaplan at 5'10.5" and Woods at 5'8.5"

The recent commercial with the "scrubs " stars, zach braff (6') and donald faison (5'11"), john looked comfortably shorter than both actors. That leads me to think he was more 5'11.5"-5'11.75" at his peak (he did look very close height wise to his 5'11" "welcome back kotter " costar gabe Kaplan, and that "just over 6' claim could've been in-shoes?), and maybe around 5'10.5"-5'10.75" (barefoot, end of day) today.

He claimed both 6' and 6' and change. Never 6'1 or 6'2 which sound very exaggetated. He might have been just under 6ft in his peak, I'm betting 182-182.5 is right on the money and he just claimed his morning height-not a bad lie at all.

I’d like to recommend John’s movie entitled ‘The Fanatic’. I came across it on Amazon, read the write-up and decided to give it a go. He excelled my expectations in every way. We usually see John playing suave, sexy roles, but he’s almost unrecognisable in this, right down to the way he walks, his facial expressions and his unkempt appearance.
He plays an obsessed fan called Moose, who is seething with anger after the object of his affections, an actor called Hunter Dunbar, fails to give him an autograph. Things spiral out of control, as Moose refers back to Dunbar’s movies to enact his revenge. He’s one seriously disturbed guy, and this 2019 film is well deserving of its ‘18’ certificate.

Anything from 178-181 is out of the question. He looks 182 today at age 63. In his prime he was easily 183-184 but was slim so could easily pass for 185. And in boots was 187-188 which is probably why he is listed at 6’2” on google

Still torn on 183.5 peak. I think his claim was honest, but maybe it was like 183.3-4 lunchtime and 183 night? It's just no less than 2 inches between him and Sam Jackson in Pulp Fiction, could appear very well 2.25-2.5, plus he's dropped 2cm by late 50's? It is questionable.

Editor Rob I think Cage hasn't really dropped much at all, whereas from early 90's to now Travolta definitely looks like he's dropped a bit. Cage may well measure a fraction taller than Travolta today, but a peak John I think was honest saying a little over six foot, very likely he measured around that mark.
