Ter Stegen is a solid 186cm. He's listed 6'2 but he looks more shorter than 6'2 Jan Oblak. Speaking about Oblak, he is the weirdest 6'2 ive seen. He was listed 186cm on his first season with Atletico Madrid and with Rio Ave was 186 cm as well. He's been listed in recent years 188cm.He doesnt look none of those heights. He seems a solid 189cm. He looks big in goal compared to Ter Stegen. What do you think Rob?

He is 185-186cm depending of the day.

@Rob, As for your comment on the Argentine, wasn't Aguero always listed as 173? Bet if it wasn't that unfortunate incident with his health, and he stayed longer with Barca, they'd have him at 175 cm anyday which would be a bit ridiculous.
Editor Rob
No, I gave gave him a 171-3 adjustment after he did get that measurement!
Like I said on here, I thought there was a chance he would get near 5ft 8.
Eli Shahar said on 4/Jun/22
He’s 6’1.

He reminds me a lot of Prince Harry in that photo...and they're the same height!

strong 186 guy if he managed to measure between 187.5-188.186-186.5 before bed and 188-188.5 out of bed.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 30/May/21
Rob, out of Ronaldo, Kaka and this guy who do you rate as the tallest?
Editor Rob
This guy has once managed a taller height than Kaka...but you have to wonder sometimes about Real's height claims.

Remember Real put down Michael Owen as 176cm...

A lot of players do get taller measurements at Barca, I think even Aguero I bet will get 173cm range!
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 30/May/21
Should be a very solid 186cm guy if he's able to measure 188cm morning...should actually wake up a fraction over 6ft2
ajax509 said on 10/Apr/21
Well you're the boss Big Rob, though I suspect there could be more room for errors in Barca measurements adjusting the stadiometer. Ter Stegen never pulled off 6ft 1.5 let alone 6ft 2.
Editor Rob
I think he could look 6ft 1 to 1.5 range, but over that I couldn't believe afternoon height.
ajax509 said on 10/Apr/21
6ft 1 1/2 listing would be fair given his 188cm measurement.

@Editor Rob Substracting 1/2 inch from Barcelona figures could be standard on CelebHeights

I think you did this with Neymar, Griezmann, Rakitic, Xavi – with Iniesta 1/4 inch
Editor Rob
with Marc there was a bigger difference going from just under 187 to 188 another occasion.

At least it looked between 10-11 range he was measured.
Heightboss said on 7/Apr/21
@cristi actually 180cm is very rare within professional football. Look at the teams in the top 5 leagues, under 188cm is already on the smaller side. I would say 6'2/6'3 is the median goalkeeper height
Slim 6'1.5 said on 12/Mar/21
185-186cm he’s definitely nearer 6’1 than 6’2

Spot on listing. Explains the difference from morning measurement to afternoon

There is no way in hell this guy is below 187.5 lmao

@Mark O' Connor

You will be tallish/tall. Don't' forget there are even 180cm GK's in top football.

With my height of 188.3 in the morning and 186.2 at a low will I be average for a goalkeeper or below average?

Best keeper in the world right now.

@Rob

I analyzed both videos. I Just realized it is not 186.5 and Bust a Gut 186.8

He is just stretched and the oscilator stops at 186.8. Not breathing in and gaining from 186.5 to 186.8. So not 186.5. Just the digital oscilator stops like when you weigh in

It is not the case of Coutinho when he breathes in and he gains

He was measured before 10.30 in second video, I see when he runs in the machine clock marks 10 45

Possibly the first video he was shorter because he was in the typical low and just in the second one there is some mms over top of head. Yes there is a higher variation than expected but I don't think he us shorter than 186.8
Editor Rob
I would still say that there is a bigger room for error than I thought with those stadiometers due to having somebody calibrate it.

10.30 to 1pm could account for 1cm for sure in some taller people.
184guy2 said on 14/Jul/19
Ter Stegen being measured at roughly 6 ft 1 7/8
@Rob , could you put on description ?
Editor Rob
It looks the same stadiometer model he got the 186.8. Around 1cm is a very big variation, and to me raises the question of whether it has been calibrated properly.
184guy2 said on 6/Feb/19
@Rob

Do you think that keepers are submitted to a potential premature height loss ?
Editor Rob
I would say some keepers will do more potential damage to their discs, which might catch up to them in their latter years. It might actually have been an interesting long-term study on footballers - measuring their height at start of career, then at 30, 40 and 50 to see what positions (if any) have a more negative impact on stature.
Edimar184 said on 3/Oct/18
Ter Stegen don't looks like anything taller than Jordan Pickford.. 6ft1 max.

188cm first thing, 186.5-187cm mid morning, 186-186.5cm afternoon/evening

@Leo Claudio Bravo was measured 183.5 I had that video some time ago, Cilessen was measured 185.0
Leo said on 27/Jan/18
Hey Rob, I found something interesting, look at this pic: Click Here
This shows Stegan isn't taller than 185 Bravo (Given he is a solid 185 which is still doubtful)

and this one: Click Here The picture with 6'1(Wiki) Cillesen and Marc and Marc is edged by half inch which means he shouldn't be taller than 184........

So even though I am convinced Marc's morning measurement of 186.8 is accurate, I don't think he shoudl fall into a solid 6'1 range, 6 foot and half, same as Bale, would be closer, because I don't see he is taller than CR7....But still, very tough to guess his real height, considering his height among GK is quite low, what he's done this season is phenomenal
Editor Rob
I suppose it depends on how much somebody loses. Certain people only lose half an inch, others 1.5 inches...I think generally going with close to 2cm as the average is fair.
Zizzeu said on 22/Jan/18
I’m sure your fed up getting asked football questions but what height would you say Liverpool’s goalkeeper Karius is
Editor Rob
He looks like he might be a couple of inches shorter than Klopp

Rob. Is 6'1.25 his low. Who do you think would look taller karlie kloss or this man
Editor Rob
A chance he goes a little bit shy of it, but I think a solid enough 6ft 1 guy
c-mo said on 11/Jan/18
Editor Rob: well he seemed to gain 3mm by breathing in, so was 186.5 then up to 186.8 and these medicals are done sometime in the am, obviously after a few hours of being awake...hence I think shrinking much more than 1-1.5cm more than what he measures is unlikely.

----------

rob why do you list him as 186cm then ? if we take into consideration that he measured 186.8 we actually have a number . and if he is already awake for a couple of hours then 187cm is very fair tbh
Editor Rob
because by afternoon he will shrink towards 6ft 1.25 and I'm going with that range.
2MeterPeter said on 10/Jan/18
Looks about right, do you think Kevin De Bruyne might be due a page soon?
Editor Rob
there's a fair chunk of potential footballers out there.

Rob. How many hours out of bed was he measured? Was he Busting a Gut. If he's 186.8 cm in the morning. How tall do you think he would be at his low
Editor Rob

I'm surprised he's this tall, I got more of a 184-5 impression from him. Hard to imagine that he's taller than Ronaldo, but the evidence is clear.
Ruffi said on 10/Jan/18
Hey rob, I measure 186cm at 10-11 in the morning. Does that make me a flat 6-1(185.4cm)?
Editor Rob
I'd say that is likely.

if you were a goalkeeper like ter Stegen, you would be thought of as a bit less than average these days at 6ft 1.
Johnson said on 10/Jan/18
Great addition.

I agree with this listing. Routine medical checkings are early in the morning for players, whereas medical check ups for signed new players are a little later in Barcelona

On this case it was early. It was routine preseason
kenzy said on 10/Jan/18
rob is 187cm possible
Editor Rob
given he didn't quite manage 187 when at his tallest before lunch...I wouldn't list him as tall as 187.

But out of bed? The man may be 188cm.
Junior said on 10/Jan/18
So if Busting a Gut he is 6'1.7-6'1.8" early morning that means he is a strong 6'1 so 186cm would be it.
Editor Rob
a few hours out of bed and Busting a Gut like that, I would say he falls into a solid 6ft 1 range.
