The shot with Jude Law is one of the few times he does look in the 5'8 range as most here seem to want him. Most of the time Damon looks at least 5'9, and can often pull off looking a strong 5'10. Earlier this year with Leno:

Hollywood my man. Films. And I'm personally 5'11 barefoot at night and Girls and Guys claim I'm 6'3 once I have my Jordans on and Hair. On screen a Barefoot 5'10 LOOKS 6' which is leading man material and why actors want to get to the "Magical" 6' height. (I Live in LA and know a lot of actors and have done some work myself). Rich Hall, its all about camera angles some pics they are slouching sometimes there standing straight. When your with someone shorter than you and getting your photo taken do you stand up straight as possible? Just be realistic and stop taken one picture as 'prove'. Rob, is it even possible for him to look 6'2 next to solid 5'6 Elle Fanning in sneakers??? I mean it's pretty clear he could have as much as a 4 inches advantage with his boots and lifts but he actually looked 7" taller than her at least, which is more of a 6 inches advantage for him, which sounds really crazy even for Sly. Hailee Steinfeld is 1cm taller than Elle, and Damon never looked that huge next to her in True Grit.

I mean it's pretty clear he could have as much as a 4 inches advantage with his boots and lifts but he actually looked 7" taller than her at least, which is more of a 6 inches advantage for him, which sounds really crazy even for Sly. Hailee Steinfeld is 1cm taller than Elle, and Damon never looked that huge next to her in True Grit.
Editor Rob can Damon look that height with Elle? I've never seen anything recently of them together so i don't know, but she is growing and claimed 5ft 6 months ago.

i agree with you greg. average height of men in most countries are around 170~175 cms. however you have to remember its all relative. its about what you're used to and if your friends and family are giants at all 6ft+ then i guess 5'10 might seem rather short.

I'm 5'9.5 most of the day and at 170 lean am very obviously bigger than Damon on every bodypart so please get the idea out of your heads that he is built. I've seen Matt Damon in a lot of movies and he looks 6 foot. Take rounders for example, he's an inch shorter than John Turturo and Edward Norton in that who are both 6'1. 5'10 is an average height for a guy and his height seems above average.

Now days though his dress/formal/movie footwear certainly looks suspect.Action hero syndrome I believe. Just like Stallone,Statham,Snipes,VanDamme etc. All no more than 5'9" barefoot but pretending to be more.Im not knocking lifts btw as I have just started wearing them myself and they take me from 166cm/167cm in the morning to a shade over 174cm. no complaints from me. lol.

Glenn, I don't know how to post pics, but in the meantime you can google images ... "Leonard Bush". There are a couple of photos with him and President Bush. Neither of these guys are lift user's. Nearly everyone agrees, Bush is a legit 5-11. He has a 2.5" to 3" on Ray. Like I said, when I met him we were exactly eye to eye. What I should have mentioned in my last post was that I saw him at 5-8 to 5-8.5. I was somewhere in that range at the time.

Burt Reynolds did admit to being under 6 feet in 1972, but I've also heard him claim just over 6 ft or 6 ft even. I can't buy anything under 5'11" peak for Burt though. He looked 6'2" at times with those boots!

I went to Holland and visited Amsterdam, Utrecht and Flevoland a year ago with my family. Dickey Curtis, Im not trying to underestimate how tall dutch people. I know dutch people are tall but to be honest with ya i saw more 6"3 in Sweeden. There are really tall people in Sweeden.

Maybe you've visited in a time with many foreign tourists and those weren't dutch people at all:) I live here and off course there are many 5.10 guys and lower. its just chance for wich tall or short people you meet. but in my office where i work am the second shortest out of 11 people. me being 5.11

Regardless what size Damon is, he looks normal height in movies. Even Tom Cruise looks normal height in many movies, so these guys can't be shorter than 5'7" or taller than 5'11". At these heights Tom in lifts looks average height, while DAmon in lifts can pull off looking on the taller side.

Granted this was while wearing boots which he wore throughout the film, but overall he really didn't look to be anything less then a solid 5ft10+. I'd say he's somewhere in the 5ft9 range barefoot, but anything less I don't think so. with a bit of a lift in his shoes for premieres, he probably hits the 5ft11 mark.
I caught a few minutes of Goodwill Hunting on tv last night, and honestly Damon looked to be about 4-5" shorter then Affleck(6ft2.5). I'd say 5'6" is the average for hispanic men. I'm a weak 5'8" and I'm taller than most of them by a couple of inches, and I see a lot in my line of work(carpentry). It wouldn't surprise me if the average was even a bit under 5'6", although I could be wrong. Average for white men is probably in the 5'10"-5'11" range.

damon prolly had lifts on inthe premiere shots, i'm with towel on this one, although i'd say 5'8 range and possible 5'9 tops. Baldwin & Leo both had Damon by alot in the departed and Damon was max 1.5 inches over wahlberg who alot believe a flat 5'7...

Several people have told me I could be his look a like in films and I am only 5'8". No way he is much taller than that,though he may use lifts/rising since they are pretty sophisticated an undetectable. Funny I remember reading that Michael J. Fox was always running in his films to make him appear taller and I see Matt doing the same. LOL.

Complex - that looks about right to me, but I can say with 100% truth that ethnicity and race comes into play. Southern Asian males are generally shorter than Caucasians and Blacks, thats just how it is so it balances out.

5'8" isn't quite short. It's the low end of average. I'm almost 5'8" and I usually wear cowboy boots with 2 inch heels and with them I feel dead on average height and sometimes fairly tall believe it or not.

I'm from the us, I really think the true average of the us if everyone were properly measured would be 5'8-5'11, 5'8 (very low end of average) 5'11 (very tall end of average) 5'9-5'10 (dead on average) That's how I see it.

Whatever Leonari. People have different perceptions. 5'8 is short to me. Not really short, but its below average to say the least. Complex, I dont know where you're from but 5'9 is below average in Canada and Europe. Im sure in some parts of the USA its average.

I don't think Hulk said Nash was 7'2" before a match. Hulk may say those guys are bigger than they are because it's an interesting story, wrestlers being 7'2" and 7'4". Saying those guys are in the 6'9" to 6'11" range(like they are) makes it less interesting. Saying Sly is 5'8" is an interesting story considering he's one of the biggest action stars of all time and because of his ripped physique people expect him to be big. In reality he isn't 5'8" though. At worst he's 5'9" in the evening.
