I'm watching Michelle in 'into the night', a John Landis movie from the mid Eighties, probably 1985. Although only 5ft6, she's employed as a model, but with her face and figure, she WOULD be one of those rare acceptions, who's snatched up for her looks alone, and the lack of height ignored!
Her face is so divine that she doesn't even need long hair, and this film proves it.
She's coupled up with the gigantic Jeff Goldblum, and she's wearing heels just one step away from kitten-sized - comfortable, but still worth wearing for the height boost.
Without her shoes, she's a tad over a head shorter than Jeff, but she's creeping about quietly in the shoeless scene, so stooping a little. Obviously, Michelle is going to appear tiny next to Goldblum, whereas she looked anything but in 'Scarface', when she acted with Al Pacino some two years earlier.

Yes, there was less than half-a-head between her and Jack and pretty much the same height as Al, bearing in mind that he was required to wear lifts for the role.
After writing this, I have the sudden urge to visit the Jack Nicholson page. Michelle has starred with him in both 'The Witches of Eastwick' and 'Wolf'. She could have starred as Wendy in 'The Shining'; the 'real' hair colour of the temptress was blonde. My then-boyfriend brought the book in for me to read when I was in hospital with a temperature of 106.2. It was hardly the sort of reading material that I was seeking at that particular moment in time. Perhaps Stephen King's masterpiece 'Misery' would have been more to the point....

Yet another female celebrity whose listed height has increased over the years. In the 80s and 90s she was always listed as 5ft 6in, but now she is listed as 171cm which is nearly 5ft 7.5in. In my opinion, she was never taller than 5ft 6in flat, and may be slightly shorter these days.

Matthew is 169cm. 5 foot 6 is safe but i always thought she was 5 foot 7 at least. Nice looking lady. Probably the best looking actress over 50. In her time she was one of the hottest.

Even though Michelle Pfeiffer's biography gives a false measurement of 5'7", I am almost certain that she is exactly 5'5". Her high heels are what confuses the writers and public.

There's no way on earth you can tell the difference between two people by an inch. Celebs and athletes can so easily fudge their height by an inch or two because people can't freaking tell.

After seeing her in Hairspray I would have thought she was at least 5'7" or 5'8". I guess I've never really looked at photos of her though. And she may have looked taller in Hairspray because she was almost always in heels whereas others were most likely not. I have to say I'm surprised she is this height though....

Women's heights are tough to gauge from photos without seeing footwear. The pics that I've seen here could have Michelle in flats or heels, thus making it harder to pin down her real height. 5'6" looks like a good apporoximation for her.
