There’s a dinosaur expert on Stephen’s Dinosaur programme called Susie Maidment, and she has to look right up to the actor/TV presenter! I wouldn’t say that Susie is a small woman, probably even a touch above average, but as with Christopher Lee, anyone standing with these tall guys looks small, especially women.

Hooray! I’ve remembered Stephen’s Dinosaur programme! He’s got such a lovely, expressive voice that he could make any subject interesting, but dinosaurs ARE very interesting. Wow! He’s even including CGI images in this….

I recently woke up from a dream in which Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie came to see me. We talked about music, including the groups we’ve seen and laughed non-stop!

Sometimes, I think being asleep is a better state of consciousness than being wide awake!

I didn’t see their heights because we were all sitting down.

Heeeeeey! Thanks to Stephen’s gorgeous pronunciation of the word ‘cigarillo’, my new little friend and I put on a great show for the Police when we went outside for a smoke in hospital!

Safia had learnt to say the word like Stephen, and she offered me a cigarillo, to which I replied, “Verillo!” instead of thank you! Then she offered me a light and I replied “Allimeatsio!”, which is another of my cat’s names. By this time, the officers were pizzing themselves. What followed was a bit on the naughty side, but great entertainment for the onlookers.

“Oh What A Night!” and yes, it was in late December! 🎼🎶🎵

I had a dream last night that I saw a young man of thirtysomething who was a dead ringer of Stephen Fry. I veered straight in his direction and found out that he was his son. The guys, including Stephen, were having a social evening and invited me to join them.
😁👌🏼🍻

Stephen’s son was as tall as Stephen and equally as cuddly!

🔔 It was lovely to see 'Stephen Fry's 21th Century Firsts' last night. Although I felt in need of a nap, Stephen's ever interesting approach to all the new inventions of the 21st Century, which was presented in a 'run-down' form going up from year to year, was a must for anyone with an eye for the amazing progress that humankind has made in only a couple of decades.

It made me think if TV had been in existence 100 years ago, what sort of progress would they have been able to talk about then? The World was just recovering from the First World War, with so many lives lost, and the Second World War less than a score years away.

We feel infinitely more united as a people with the Internet, and how comforting is that now with the Covid 19 restrictions? I'm sure Stephen, who loves the Internet and takes an interest in everything, would agree that peace time is the biggest blessing of them all.

6ft5. 😉👌

Fry: 194cm/195cm

Today, Stephen is 63 years old, I think it's time to peak height for him. Nearly 6ft 5 (6ft 4.75) was probably what Stephen could measured in the 90's. Here is a photo of Stephen with Tony Robinson from 1999: Click Here
Stephen might have had a bit thicker boots but he also had worse posture than Tony, and besides, Tony is closer to the camera. I also found a photo of Stephen with Julie Andrews from 2000: Click Here
Julie was 65 at the time, but she also wore heels. Rob, can you give Stephen the peak height 6ft 4.75 and the current height 6ft 4.25?

Fry gets a peak of 6’4.75” from me. In a couple of Top Gear episodes, Fry was close in height to Jeremy Clarkson. Out of those two, I feel, Fry seemed to be slightly taller, I haven’t discounted 6’4.5” for Clarkson’s peak but I think both men were practically 6’4.75” at their peaks. In A Fish Called Wanda, I saw about a three inch height difference between Fry and Kevin Kline in their brief scene together.

What a delightful way to round up an edition of QI! Here it goes then....

Stephen asked his four contestants, "How do we know that God is a civil engineer?"

Well, words to that effect. 😂😂😂

I've often wondered that myself!

Yes, it was Stephen Fry and this time round, we were listening to sounds from the early Seventies. It made a pleasant change to listen to them with someone who actually knew who was singing, but then, he knows everything!

I couldn't get my DVD section of my TV to work yesterday - and I wanted to watch QI. I was ever so wound up, and that's probably why I dreamt of him. I found on Stephen Fry's Twitter page that he'd sent along a video of a magpie posting a bottle into a recycling bin. He said that the little fellow was "...doing his bit to save the planet!"

What a lovely man, deriving pleasure from something like that! 😁👌

The other night, while I had one of Stephen's old 'QI' episodes on on the 'Dave' Freeview Channel, one of the contestant's funny answering jingles was an extra loud burp! I was doing a crossword at the time, though listening, but whenever I heard that noise, I looked up! 😂😂😂

Last night I woke up after a rather prolonged nap to find that the second film in the Tolkien Hobbit trilogy was on. It wasn't long before I had the great pleasure of watching Stephen Fry, complete with long red hair, making his first appearance. He asked his servant to poor him a drink - a brandy, I think - but the measure was thoroughly insufficient for this king-sized genius, who promptly poured himself a supersized glassful, more befitting of a man his stature! 🥃 ❌ 4!

I noticed as he walked along that he seemed to most definitely be suffering from the same piles that Blackadder Goes Forth's Fry character, Sir Anthony Cecil Hogmanay Melchett, complained about! 😂😂😂 This added a Stephen Fry-style touch of comedy to the production, and I'm in no doubt that Peter Jackson was all in favour of the idea!

Stephen looked even more of a giant in this than he normally does, because the movie contains dwarfs and hobbits, of course. It's hardly the best film from which to make an educated guess as to the man's height, but I have enough films and comedy boxsets which show him as he really is, so I don't think that 6ft5 would be overdoing things. 😁👍

While watching Stephen, as Melchett, having a polite and amusing Festive conversation just now with Blackadder, I couldn't help but think, "Rowan, (as 'Blackadder') doesn't have to look right up to Stephen the way an average-sized man would. Stephen, who stood around 6ft5 those days, doesn't exactly tower over Rowan, though the difference is still stark staring obvious, so Rowan can't be THAT much shorter than Stephen and I reckon he can't have been unduly below 6ft at all when this was made!"

The caring and considerate chin-wag went not unlike this:

Blackadder: "Ah! Melchett! Greetings! I trust that Christmas brings you its traditional mix of good food and violent stomach cramps!"

Melchett: "...and the compliments of the Season to you, Blackadder! May the Yuletide log slip from your fire and burn your house down!"

You can't beat a good friendship!

Stephen gets his usual 6ft5, because that is what I see before my eyes, and Rowan looks just under 6ft.

The only time a Prime Fry (Good lord, that sounded odd) didn't look close to 6'5" was in two scenarios:

Fry looked an easy inch shorter than an aging John Cleese, but many people (including myself) would argue that Cleese was more of a solid 6'5" guy.

I don't know if Fry really was what you call a solid 6ft 5, though at times he might have seemed it.

@ MSJC - I agree that if anyone is entitled to be called a National Treasure, it is Stephen! I adored his (Anthony Cecil Hogmanay) Melchett character! What a funny name - HOGMANAY!!!

That's the name he gave in 'Blackadder Goes Forth' when he presides over a court case about his pigeon 'Speckled Jim', which has been eaten by Blackadder! Remember? Of course you do!

I can't think of a more pleasing way of passing a bit of time at 20 minutes past 2 in the morning than watching an episode of 'QI' - hosted by Stephen Fry, of course!

This morning I did just that! The episode was called 'Denial and Deprivation' and was, of course, extremely funny as well as informative. Among the things up for discussion was the height of a yak. Stephen said they are 6ft5, and followed that with "The same height as me!"

That is the second time I have heard him say that. This particular episode hailed from 2006, so Stephen was 48/49, so I doubt he had lost any height yet. Now, 12 years on, he might be a quarter- inch shorter.

Today I shall give the great Stephen Fry 6ft4.75.

I love him! 💝 Always have and always will! To my mind, his humour keeps him ageless!

This evening, Stephen, the big cuddlesome bear, gets 6ft4.5 from me and a bear hug! 🐻 xxx

With his heavy build and bad posture Fry can be a hard one to pin down. However in Blackadder he towered over strong 5'11" Rowan Atkinson and always had a noticeable height advantage over Laurie, so 6'4.5" peak sounds right. At nearly 60 though he could be 6'4" flat.

I was thinking about Stephen Fry over Christmas, and hoping he was enjoying himself; I'm so glad he's found happiness and I wish him a wonderful New Year!
He deserves it for all the laughter he has given us over the years! I love the man, but I think you might have guessed that already!

Stephen Fry has a house fairly near my parents and I have briefly spoke to him before. Very friendly, he certainly towered me when I last saw him however he had footwear advantage which made him about 6'5 compared to my 5'11 in plimsol style shoes. I'd say if the two of us were bare foot there wouldn't have been as much of a difference I think nowadays he is about 6'4 maybe 6'3.75 at his low.

I wouldn't dispute that he was towering but you aint 6 ft 3. He wouldn't look much taller if you are really 6'3". He looked near 6'5" next to Prince William.

Where an earth did you get 6ft 6 from for Charles Hansons height, if he did quote that on the roadtrip that is a lie, I do appear to recall it quoted on his personal website and the bargain hunt website, the experts heights are all exagerated David Harper says he 6ft 3 he is only around 6ft 0. In a interview last month Tim Wonnocott see( wonnocott on Austrialian B H) said that charles was only 6ft 1 ( 186cm), he cannot be 6ft 6. Dan snow is 6ft 6 and on celebrity roadtrip was about 5 inches taller. I think that Charles has told misinformative to millions of viewers. Stephen Fry is taller than charles. It is the truth

Ok, that makes sense. He always dwarfed Hugh Laurie in "Jeeves and Wooster" (and pretty much everybody else on that show). Alex V. said on 15/Apr/09
I agree with Yazov, starting at 6:24, we can see that Fry is really very tall. For me, Fry(6"4.5 - 6"5) and Penn (a week 6"6). Fry has gave this illusion before, in the "IQ" movie, Tim Robbins at first, looked easy, taller than Fry but a second view showed me that they were (are) the same height.

Funny it never occurred to me before that he was so tall. I guess it is because of his heavy build it makes him look shorter than a skinny guy would of the same height.
