She's no longer 5ft 8in but I agree that was her peak height.

I’d put her at a weak 5’7 these days but definitely think she was a good 5’8 back in the day.

That's what I was gonna say nik she may have been 5ft 8 at one stage but she most certainly has lost 2 or so inches by now

She looked about the same height as Jack P Shepherd on "Coronation Street" this week!

@ Nik - Yes, it originated in the London area in the 19th Century and is thought to stem from the word 'casa', the Italian word for 'house'.
Sue, who turned Lewis's funeral into a farce, with the aid of Patti Clare's Mary and Maureen Lipman's Evelyn, can have 5ft7.75. You could definitely notice about an inch between her and Maureen when they had an amusing chat in the Street, depending on your sense of humour!

@ - SandyCowell - That's a very good spot! Yes, carsey (Also spelt kharsi(e)!) is one of many words that can be used to mean "toilet"! I think it is Cockney rhyming slang for "toilet", isn't it? Yes, a c-@rse-y is a useful part of modern life, we'd be snookered with them!
I think that Sue could be near to 5'7" these days!

⭐️ I just noticed that Nik sent a comment to someone who went by the name 'Carsey', meaning toilet! It's also spelt like so:- kharsi(e) and looks not unlike this 🚽.
Carseys are a very useful part of modern everyday life. I'd feel totally crappy without mine!

Sue's character in 'Coronation Street' has tragically lost her second sweetheart on New Year's Day, the first one being big Alf Roberts, who wasn't just tall, he was large in stature too, and had to be written out because sadly, he died suddenly in real life.
They would never have paired Sue off with, say, Ken Morley or Roy Barraclough, both of whom were MUCH shorter. 'Coronation Street' seems to insist on choosing partners with the man being taller than the woman, I find.
You can see just how tall Sue used to be in the vintage edition, now in the year 1991. She still looks pretty tall now, and she mentioned the other day that she's 78, which is roughly her true age.
As there is just the one box, I will go for 5ft7.75.

In today's 'Classic Coronation Street', Audrey (Sue) was flirting with a reluctant Jim, played by Charles Lawson, who at that time seemed a convincing 6ft. She wasn't exactly looking up to him either, and he'd come to her home to repair her (bedroom!) TV, so she was probably in comfortable footwear. I really can see her being 5ft7.5/8 back then. I also compared her to Sally, 5ft2, and came to the same conclusion.
Perhaps there should be a box for then and for now. I will put 5ft7.75.

@ Carsey - You are a monkey's uncle! Ha ha!
I think that 5'7" is liable for Sue's nowadays height!

Blah! Correction Time! 😝
That should have been 'have IT on', and not 'have IN on'!
It would seem I was badly in need of a nap when I wrote that, or halfway through one! 😴

@ Rob - If I had access to 'Rentaghost', I might be forced to have in on only if I had particular trouble sleeping! 😫 😴

@ Rob - I am not exactly proud to admit that I have vague recollections of that show myself! 😬 👻 😬
Sometimes when you rewatch a TV or film many many years later it can be a surprise or a letdown.
I think I'll pass on re-watching Rentaghost 😃

Now that we have the opportunity to watch 'Vintage Coronation Street' every weekday, the opportunities to see these older stars in their younger, taller days simply abound!
Just recently, I have been taking a good and critical look at Sue Nicholls here, and she is much the same height (taller even in shoes!) than her man-mountain of a husband in the show, played by the late Brian Mosley. With 5ft2 Sally Webster, she looks positively tall, and I'd say in heels, she has to be around 5ft11.
Sue is a good strong 5ft8, and possibly even more back then. I mean, she is still a tall woman today!
I remember her mainly from Rentaghost, she seemed tall on that, though I cannot for the life of me remember what the heck anything much about the show 😨

Saw her at my work today. Im 5'3 and she was the exact same height as me. She looks too tiny to be 5'8. Needs a serious downgrade rob

Have stood next to her, maximum is 5ft3"

Saw her in Debenhams Manchester a few years ago and if she is more than 5ft 3 I am a monkey's uncle.

Doesn't seem to have 7 inches on 5'1" Samia Smith in Corrie.
[Editor Rob: at near 70 she may have lost a bit of height]

I agree with the height, I doubt she is only 8st 21bs though!
Robert.R said on 19/Jan/07
I doubt very much that she only weighs 8st 2lbs but this page is about height and I would go along with 5'8".
