Rob, is he one of the oldest men on this site that managed to not lose too much height? Or he today is probably shorter?
Who do you think is the tallest of those listed here that reached about 80 years old and has handled his height the best?
Editor Rob
Not seen him in a few years now, so he might have dropped another fraction.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 11/Dec/17
He could look 6ft3 at times on X-Files
Intevel said on 8/Nov/17
Rob, I don't wanna lose height for a long time and when I'm older only want to lose very minimal height. What age do you usually start to lose it? I'm in my 30s and am 1/2 inch taller than when I was in my early 20s.
Editor Rob: it's never to late to start a simple height reduction routine.

Just as simple as doing ceiling touch and toe touch moves a couple of times a day, keeping active and walking more, ensuring a good variety of food so your body is getting enough minerals as you age.

Inactivity, poor diet, lack of exercise might make you lose height faster once over 60.
Intevel said on 8/Nov/17
Rob, Jenny seems taller than you here.
Editor Rob: posture, positions, camera angle all effect height. The right side of this photo looks to be gaining photographic favour as I wasn't dropping much height and you can see With David and the same photographer that weekend, I switched sides, dropped more height and am standing a couple of inches further back (photographer is 5ft 2 range).

Looks pretty much 6'1" here, but he's most likely shorter than this today since this was taken about 7 years ago.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 30/Jul/17
Rob, could he be down to 6ft now?
Editor Rob: not seen him a couple of years, but a guy like chris lloyd is down to about 5ft 11 now, so he may well have dropped another bit of height and be 6ft today.
Doom said on 19/Jul/17
I dont see 5 inches different in height here...

Rob why does it seem like theres less of a height difference when people are stood together than when they are stood apart?
Editor Rob: he was still 6ft 1 range then, today I think probably another fraction lost.

Lots of factors effect height difference, sometimes even your own eyes can interpret height differently, depending how close or far the person is away.

I had no idea that William peaked at over 6ft2, but it doesn't surprise me! It's news as well that he's Canadian. It's amazing how much this website can broaden one's general knowledge, which is truly an added bonus!
Did anyone feel as shocked as I did at the state of William's character's appearance in the brand new, and very welcome 'X Files' series shown on TV this year?
He's an excellent deterrent for smokers! I don't know whether I picked this up from an 'X Files' fan or from the TV, but I did used to think he was also called 'Cancer Man', and that prediction was certainly not an unfounded one!
Giorgi said on 12/Dec/16
He looks kinda taller. Maybe 186 cm would do better justice.
Editor Rob: since that photo, he's lost more height.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 8/Oct/16
Might still edge out David today by a centimetre
Jakertini said on 6/Aug/16
IMO he is 6'0.5" and at worst 6'0.25". Rob is a strong 5'8" and I am a strong 6'1" and my eye level is 176cm or 5'9.25". There is roughly and 4" difference between the top of your head and eye level.
Johnny said on 28/Jul/16
@Rob do you think he can still edge out Duchovny?
Editor Rob: last time I seen him was 2 years ago, he still looked over six foot, but his posture is getting worse.

But then David looks at times to be at most six foot these days.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 22/May/16

Rob, could you please have a look at this photo?

Okay, if Lea is 6ft0½ (you met him and can confirm that), Pileggi looks his claimed 6ft2..and this old dude looks a whopping 6ft4 and then some. I see a level playing field in terms of shoes, posture and pavement. They're all in mid-stride.
Editor Rob: rampage, Lea has 2 feet on the ground at full stride while the others are mid-stride on 1 foot, it's not exactly a level playing field :)

In person there's not as much between them with Davis, at least the first time i seen him still looking more 6ft 1 range, although last time I thought he looked a bit more frailer and shorter 2 years back.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 28/Feb/16
He could be dipping under this today slightly.
Certainly no less than 6ft2 in X-Files. I still think a weak 6ft3 peak isn't hard to believe because he was old enough as the smoking man and still looked 189cm
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 9/Feb/16
He was a solid 2in taller than Duchovny in his 50's-60's so even 6ft3 peak can't be ruled out

Rob you think at his best posture he could reach today 186 cms barefeet?
[Editor Rob: 5 years ago I think he still held a decent 6ft 1, but today, or last time I seen him he looked a bit less. You would expect 3-4 years during 70's to lose another fraction.

it's like christopher lloyd. He was taller first time I seen him, this year he was looking shorter than 8 years ago.]

you think it might be depend by his shoes, posture or even tiredness?
[Editor Rob: I think to have lost another fraction in 3-4 years at his age is likely, but posture as well in 70's can sometimes make elderly chaps appear shorter than they measure, although not always the case.

Especially if they have upper spinal curvature, they look like they have looser posture but in fact it is degradation of the discs.]

One of the few TV or movie characters who managed to be genuinely menacing, as opposed to just irritating and annoying. Don't know how he did it, but many a "bad guy" actor now should be taking lessons from him!

William B. Davis's heights are:

---PEAK---
Morning (out of bed)= 6'2.5" (1.89,2 m)
After 1,5-3 hrs= 6'2" (1.88 m)
After 5-10 hrs= 6'1.75" (1.87,2 m)

Today, he's a strong 6'1" (1.85 m), how rob said...

Not that rare to see old folks this tall, Larc (and the other guy was joking). You just figure it would be, seeing as the average height has increased... But there have always been tons of 6'2"+ guys walking the streets. My grandpa on my mom's side will be 80 next month, and he stands 6'3" now (as tall as me). Says he used to feel kind of tall around normal people but knew a lot of guys his height. My other grandad is 6'1" now and only thought of himself as tall when he was an early bloomer.

rob do you think he might have ostreoporosis because he has lost virtually 2 inches of height at 73 when the average height loss that age is 1 inch.

[Editor Rob: it's possible for men to get it]

Are you drunk? I don't have sayed anything wrong.
He's certainly not young anymore, I mean he's 73y, if there is another method to call a man over 70 (besides "old man") say it.
And I agree with LOLO, you can even be 45y older than me, but you're for sure not smarter.

the men who are under 6'1 or 6' hardly lose any height. It is not common to see an old man who is over 6'1. Maybe because they are all dead because shorter people seem to live longer or there were not many people over 6'2 70 years ago. anyway i would think the healthiest height to be is between 5'-6'1. i wonder what happens to these basketball players when they get old. some of those guys are 6'8-6'11!

Moke said on 11/Jan/11
Rob, is it true that tall men generally lose more height aging than average or shorter men? What did you experience in that matter?

[Editor Rob: I think the longer your spine the more chance you would lose more height, it would be more noticeable.]

Looked 2 inches taller than David Duchovny on the X-Files and about an inch taller than Mitch Pileggi, wonder if he lost an inch since the 90s?
rob89 said on 14/Dec/10
Definitely around 6'2, at least during the run of the X-Files. He was clearly a couple of inches taller than both Duchovny & Mitch Pileggi back then, but maybe he's shorter today? He's over 70 so it's definitely possible, even likely, that he's shrunk. I see Rob has his current height listed as 6'1 as well.

6'2.5 just might be correct for his peak height too, as a young man. After all, when the X-files was being filmed between 1993-2002, he was already in his 50s/60s by then, so maybe he had already shrunk by that time and was down to 6'2 flat? That's what i think anyway.

Sorry but he is really taller than Mitch Pileggi; This man is visibly tall despite his bias to slouch a bit; I am sure he is 6'2.5.
Always towering people around but for Tom Welling who is noticebly taller though they try to mask it.
The Judge said on 3/Aug/06
I think it's a good estimation..in x-files he's taller than Mr.Duchovny by 2 or 2.5 inches and barely taller than Mr.Pileggi who's 6'1" so..
