He is certainly nor under 5ft 6. He looked an average height in scarface and in carlitos way. He may now be a touch shorter than when he was younger.

I've been looking over some of Pacino's movies the guy really is a legend and I really gotta agree that 5ft 6in is almost certainly his height, sure he can look that little bit shorter or even that little bit taller but can't we all?

Al clearly is 5'6, no doubt about that.I agree with glenn that he could look 5'8 as the max height. I saw him in Scarface and he really looked in a decent height. Apparently he was wearing lifts in that film, that's why he looks 5'8...Good actor, love his works just like how i love robert de niro's. I'm a big mafia movies fan. And i have to say that Al's portrayal of being D BOSS is a good showing that even below average height guys can rule.

Pacino looked a full 5ft 7 in the first 2 godfather films and in scarface. He looked even taller near 5ft 10 in carlitos way.

While the viewer becomes wrapped up in Al's characters, all thoughts of height or weight vanish. And then see Scarface..one of my favorite movies. He just owns everyone in that movie. See Carlito's Way,or Heat, and you see how confident this man is; what an example to follow. I just wish he'd have aged better..

I saw a comment of George H. (waving to George!) on the Dustin Hoffman page about the height difference between Al Pacino and Warren Beatty in "Dick Tracy". It's quite hard to determine the real difference in heights, because they never really stand next to each other, and the scene you refer to where they are fighting, is shot from quite a distance. But you are definitely right that Warren simply dwarfes Al, and would have done so even if Al had stretched to full "height". Here's a collage of how Al and Warren relate to their co-stars in Dick Tracy, Madonna and Glenne Headly: Click Here Madonna was wearing massive platform shoes throughout most of the movie, Headly is listed in most publications as 5'7"-5'8" and is wearing 1-2 inch heels in her scenes.

All the Godfather movies and others they always shoot him a certain angle. Some of the godfather scenes he is sitting down a lot. In his prime 5'5 all of the actress's he worked with are either 5'6 or shorter. Al wears the HEELS instead of the women.

I got the chance to work with Al back in the late 80's as an extra in the film "Sea of love" along with along with John Goodman. Standing next to both, in front of the camera, and off on 2 different days, I can say that Al is 5'5".

and the part where he is walking in the street screaming trying to get the crowd he looked so short i was wondering wtf is going on, he look as short as 5'1 !!!!! gotta be camera effect for sure.
if i gotta be honest, i saw him during the filming of MERCHANT OF VENICE here in ITALY and he had his usual formal dress and very obvious shoes (lifts!), my mom who is 5'6 was eye 2 eye with him when she went to ask for an autograph.
today ALPACINO is a weak 5'5 and he used to be a weak 5'6 in the early days.
there's nothing more to it, it is the truth, as such i consider the 5'6 given in this site correct. ;)

I've seen him on three seperate occasions, he goes to the same dentist as me. The last time I saw him was back in September of 2005 when I was 13 and 5'5", and he wasn't noticibly taller, I'd say 5'6" is about right.

I highly doubt Al was ever over the 5'5 range. I can see him as a morning 5'6 in his prime, but after watching "Dog Day Afternoon" and "Heat" this week, he doesn't look over 5'5 to me. I can believe 5'4 nowadays.

I think he has always struggled with 5'6". A healthy man shouldn't lose more than .5-1" by Al's age. Women usually lose more height than men as they get old. I'm not saying men don't lose height but there shouldn't be significant height loss, unless you have a bone disease, before 75 yrs old or so.

1st post about my fave actor of all time and i can honestly say that 5'6 (168cm) is the exact height of AL Pacino, i read it in italian magazine and on spanish magazine (different magazines so i doubt they copied). good work for stating him 168CM! that's proper without shoes. ;)
oh i'm 27 years old and exactly 1.93cm, my whole family is blessed with height, my dad is 1.88cm, my sister is 1.75 and my mom is *drum rolls* 1.68cm (same as al pacino).
my grandpa was 1.92cm so i must've gotten his genes or so. girls love it :D

Funny tale. Friend of mine saw a guy who was a dead ringer for Al with about 10 years more on him. We got some fake New York driver's license made for him and made him his "brother". We went to Vegas and took him with us. We got comped meals, shows, etc. It was great. This poor guy lived the Tony Montana just off the boat life and man we decked him in threads right out of "Scarface" and he was having people running up to him "Mr. Pacino" and living the life. We're gonna do it again when "Ocean's 13" films again next month there. Problem is, the guy doesn't have a phone.

6' 4" in my last year in high school. I was looking on top of him. Easy close to a foot. My father met him in '70 when he was V.P. of Playbill Magazine. Yes, 5' 5" is about right. Look below: 5' 5" is right. I hate my height. Repeat: HATE it. Give me a few inches less.

Brad, how can you account for 11"??? Did you have a ruler? Things like this bother me, because people say, 14", 17", or in your case, 11". The human eye isn't a ruler. I just think you like to brag about your height Brad. You do it a lot on her. Get over it.

just watch serpico and you will realize that he is looking really tiny. 5ft 6 in at best. so nowadays hes mayby a bit under this mark.

I think Glenn got it spot on. I'm this height too so it's cool that he's the same height as me for some reason. He does tend to wear lifts a lot as his height varies each film.

He is my favourite actor(With DeNiro and Gazzara). I think that Pacino is 167cm because in the movie "Donnie Brasco" he weared normal shoes with an exterior heel of 1.25 and Johnny Depp weared cowboy boots with 2 inches heels and Depp appeared exactly 4 inches taller than him.I think Johnny Depp is 175cm barefoot (5'9") +2 inches heel 180cm(5'11").I think Pacino is 167cm barefoot (5'5.75) and with 1.25 heel 170 (5'7").

Pacino has never been any taller than 5'5". Look at the wedding picture of him standing next to 5'8.75" Brando and 5'9" James Caan they appear almost a head taller! Elevators can easily make a 5'5" guy 5'7" or 8.

I'd say he's around 5'6"1/2 or 5'7" because my aunt met him once and said he was not even an inch taller than her....she's 5'7" 5'8" with tennis shoes and she said he was wearing tennis shoes that day too,therefore, he's not past 5 feet 7 inches

Looking at Glenn's pic Al looks about 2 inches shorter. Just look at where their noses are in relation to each other, or their chins. Since their hair blends in with the background so much it's impossible to tell where the top of their heads are.
Also, considering Al was wearing large heeled shoes, we should subtract another inch from his height, at least half an inch. So his height has to be 5'5" or 5'5.5". I'd say he was 5'6" at his peek.

i would not be socked if al pacnio was only 5'4 barefoot .in this photo next to glenn he looks 5'5.5-5'6 max in cowboy boots .if you watch scarface hes lucky to reach 5'7 in platfroms . also if you look at pics from the godfather he is clearly 5 'to 6' inches shorter then 5'10 marlon brando. he could have been taller at his peak , but i can say that he could be only a 5'4 man .

Rob the guy was never near 5'7"...just watch the old movies..And it's known that in Godfather he wore lifts. At his peak he was 5'6" no doubt...today smaller...But still the best actor of all time!

Pacino is such a great actor he makes himself much bigger than he really is. 5'6" is what he can reach while playing roles like Scent of Woman or Dog Day. Off screen at home after taking a crap while standing in his robe waiting for the coffee to brew he is actually 5' even. This then is a compliment to him for who else but the great Al Pacino could add a half a foot to his height merely through acting?
