In happy accident with D’Onofrio, related to him, he really looks shorter by two inches. That puts him at around 6’1 or 6’1/5, depending how really tall is Vincent!

FYI...coooorection. According to the NFL--Jim is listed at 6 feet. So that would make AMH --not so tall. He was 20 years of age in the movie johnny be good. Playing a Texas football player, and always wearing those boots. Cheers if he is 6'2", but I doubt it. Most DMV's do not print .5" heights and they make you round to the nearest. So in Anthony's case, they'd make him round to 5'10". AD says on 20/Jul/07
Yes, I agree, although the point that I'm making is that Editor Rob has him listed here as 6'1"...surely he should change this to 6'2" given all the pictures and evidence below?

Well... truth is that Hall was only 15 coming on 16 when making Breakfast club in early 1984 (released in early 1985) and doesn't look much taller than 5'9.5". Look at him in Weird Science made in 1985, a year later when he was 17, he's suddenly pushing 6 foot. I've read that he had a late puberty... he looks about 6'2" and beefed up ever since Edward Scissorhands. patrick says on 12/Apr/07

i'd just add that David Ogden Stiers (rev. Gene Purdy) is known for being very tall (6'4) and he NEVER towers over A. Michael; just taller; he's 6'2. AD says on 16/Feb/07
Thanks Footballed28....with every other listing of Anthony's height being 6'2"...and going on those photos, I don't think he's above 6'2"..but I'm starting to think that he's not below. Also, I've just seen an episode of Dead Zone and he's much taller than Chris Bruno (Sheriff Walt) who's listed as 6'0" on a couple of sites, and Sean Patrick Flanery who's 5'11". Ok...Rob says above that Michael's partner Sandra Guerard is 5'10". Take a look at pictures of them together. In all pictures that I can see, she's quite obviously wearing heels making her 6'-6'1". Have a look at this picture just as an example... the idea that he's as tall as 6'1" - 6'2" ain't that crazy!

Just because the person an actor is playing is shorter or taller, doesn't mean they can't accurately portray the real life person. 6'3'' Hugh played wolverine whose 5'3'' in the comics. Nick Stahl whose averaged height portrayed a real life person who was 6'3'' and Persian in Bully. Re-watch pirates of silicon valley, he's slouching throughout the entire movie but compare him to Noah and you'll see he's his height even slouching. Anthony is 6 feet flat minimum. I'd agree that he's not 6'2" barefoot... here's 2 photos of 5'5" Ally Sheedy wearing 3" heels (making her 5'8") next to Anthony Michael Hall wearing flat trainers. Taking into account a little slouching, he's about 6 inches taller than her in the pic which I guess will make him around the 6'1" mark barefoot. In the Dead Zone, he always looks one of the tallest of the cast.

did any of you watch that movie where he played Bill Gates (who is 5'9 - 5'10)...he sure didnt look tall there...maybe average..I doubt a legit 6'2 guy could play Gate's 5'10 (doubtful) frame. the shredder says on 3/Feb/07
His license in The Breakfast Club was actually said to be 5'9 1/2 and 130 lbs ! well to me he really did look a legit 5'9.5 in Weird Science for sure when he stood next to Ilan Mitchell-Smith (whos license in Weird Science is listed as * doubtful * 5'8 ! ) and Bill Paxton who I really think is closer to 6'0 and was barefoot half the movie ! I do think Anthony Michael Hall did grow some after that , but I do doubt he grew to 6'2 ? from Edward Scissorhands and on I personally put him as soild 6'0 ! ... P.S. ... I dont know...he never appeared tall to me....I always compare his height with other actors in various movies in the past 10 yrs and he just never seemed 6'2 to me...6' would be a more accurate listing...tho he did look big/tall in Ed Sciss and Johnny be Good (or at least taller than the almost 6' Thurman) AD says on 17/Jan/07
In that picture with Robert Downey Jr, you can't accurately tell heights. This could be to do with slouching, sloping pavement etc. If you watch ANY film with Anthony Michael Hall made after he was 18, he's very obviously above 6'....trouble is, people always remember him more for his films from his childhood / early adolescence when he was not just smaller in height, but a lot smaller in physique. He's the typical "old-new" series leading man. He HAS to be tall. Main characters are always tall, or seems to be. Maybe he's 6', but it's unlikely...

He was definately taller in 'Weird Science' than he was in 'The Breakfast Club' which was made earlier the same year. Near the end of the film he's stood next to Bill Paxton (5'11") and looks taller than him. Then by 1990 in 'Upworld' he looks around the same as 6'2" Jerry Orbach. His radical change in physique also made him seem a lot bigger by the time he was in Edward Scissorhands'. Watch him in 'Dead Zone'...he's definately around 6'1" - 6'2". Sam says on 26/Jul/06

Anthony Michael Hall was just 16 when he made Breakfast Club (quoted as 5ft 9.5) but had a late puberty, and by the time he was in Edward Scissorhands you see him towering over the rest of the cast and bulked up considerably! Anthony Michael Hall- about 6 ft or 6 ft 1. I originally thought this guy was going to be around my height because I expected him to be the same height he was in Breakfast Club. He definately has grown since Breakfast Club, but not quite 6 ft 2. |
