Absolutely a strong 5'11" from all the pics I saw with his stronger opponents...surely not a 6' like Ruud or Wawrinka, if not in the early morning.
I just can't decide if 1/4 or 1/2 inch more than listed....

5'11 Flat nothing more or less

Not sure how the ATP can justify listing him at 183cm..He is clearly shorter than legit 6 footers like Wawrinka or Ruud. He is 179-180cm.

Typo on "winner" Rob. 5 ft 11 is short for a tennis player but into tall range for a Spaniard!
Jawilder said on 27/Aug/23
Hey Rob and CH fam! Hope everybody is well!

I can see an argument for a fraction under this, but that’s the lowest I’d go. With 6’1.5 Djokovic he can generally look 5’11.

Go Carlitos!
Editor Rob
Beside Djokovic, he really didn't look less than 5ft 11 range I thought.
Carlitos453 said on 27/Aug/23
He looks a lot shorter than Holger rune who is shorter than Djokovic. He might be 178 when he wakes up. But 177 cm during the day. I saw his pic with Serena he looks almost her height.

@Jtm

At his absolute low, I can see him being a weak 5'11. No shot does he fall below 5'11 during the afternoon though. He might have been 5'10 when he was 16-17 though
Jtm said on 26/Aug/23
claiming he's over 6'0 is nonsense. i would give him 5'10.
A true 5'11.5 said on 12/Jun/23
@181.6-182

I'm sorry, but there is almost no way you lose just 1 cm over the course of a day, especially if you're active. You lose 1 cm within the first 3-4 hours of being awake. Most people lose anywhere from 1.5-2.2 cm per day, depending on their daily activity or height (taller people tend to lose more height, but the minimum is around 1.5 cm).

I'm around 183 out of bed (around 7-8 AM) and fall to 181 by the end of the day - after working out at the gym around 8-9 PM (with 180.8 being my absolute low), so I usually claim 5'11.5. You definitely need to measure yourself first thing in the morning with 9-10 hours of sleep. I'd be surprised if you didn't reach 183, as I suspect your range is probably around 181-183. Take a measurement first thing out of bed and right before you go to sleep & report back.

Alcaraz is either a flat or weak 5'11. He might wake up at 181, but he probably falls somewhere closer to 179.1-179.5 throughout the day. That puts his range in the 179-181 bin, as you said. Short for a male tennis player, but fine considering the fluidity and dynamics of his game. His height doesn't warrant a downgrade, as he would edge out basically every celeb here listed at 5'10.5 or 5'10.75

I've always believed people in the 5'11-6'1 (180-185) range are tallish/above average, depending on proportions. Once you're 180+/5'11+, height doesn't matter too much anymore. Wearing chunky footwear can easily help you pass as a solid 6'0er. My ranges are: below 170 = short, 170 - 175 = below average, 176-179 = average, 180-185 = tallish/above average, 186-189 = tall, 190+ = very tall, 200+ = giant. I agree that 6 ft isn't tall anymore in Western countries, but it is certainly globally tall (as is anything over 5'11/180).

181.6-182, the average height in Serbia might be around what you're saying but the global average is probably still under 5'8 with the US average being 5'9-5'9.5. Carlos Alcaraz would likely be slightly above average where he lives in Spain. It's hard to get current accurate data, but the average height in 1996 was around 176.6cm (scroll down to "regional variation in height changes" for the Human height ourworldindata page: Click Here), and the average height today in Spain is probably a bit more but not above 179.

Click Here another pic of Ruud and Alcaraz, well, I am 179 and my father is 183, and this height difference is bigger than when I stand next to my father.
181.6-182 said on 10/Jun/23
Definitely doesn't look too towered by Novak/Zverev to be under 180. I think it's actually more likely he is 181 than 179. He is for sure in that range 179-181 , pretty much as average as you can get, as a regular human, and can be on the short side for an athlete.
I am 181.5-182 myself, having measured myself 3-4x on digital stadiometer and got 182 twice and 181.5 once. I measured this at night time around 7pm while at work. I noticed my height doesn't really differ too much morning vs night. A lot of people here saying you lose 1inch over the day , thats kind of hilarious. Maybe 1cm but nobody loses bloody 2-3cm over the day.
Maybe I am biased being Serbian, where the average is 181, and in some areas up to 6ft. But I really think these are the height bearings at least today. Under 180cm, on the short side, Under 175/76 short. 176-180 low end of "average" but these days can be seen as short. 181-185 Average, higher you go, the higher end of average you are. 186-190 Tall. 191+ Very Tall. I don't think you can argue this unless you are coping. Deal the height god gave you, Ideal range for life/dating is 183-190 for sure. While 181-190 you can be content, my dad is around 184cm shrunk from 186/87, I am exactly an inch maybe less off him but I can notice the difference in his proportions as a 6ft guy vs mine at 511.5, its like I "almost" made it to being tall. While 5 10 guys can never look 6ft. My brother for example who is 177.5 always appears a little short esp with bad posture. Only when he is more height conscious and stands straighter but even then SUPER AVERAGE anything less and he would be short, shortest in our friend circle. I really think 6ft isn't even 'tall" but average range these days maybe slightly above.

He really does look like he is 179 out of bed and 178 during the day.

Think perhaps you need to downgrade Alcatraz to 179cm? . He really doesn't look to be a strong 5'11''.

No taller than 5'10 fresh out of bed. Walk by him during US open qualies week.

Click Here they even say valverde is 180 or 181, where does it place alcaraz? for sure not more than 178-9
Editor Rob
He can look weak 5ft 11 there, assuming similar sneakers.
Carlos1232 said on 10/May/23
and valverde looks shorter than sergio ramos who is here listed 183 Click Here
Carlos1232 said on 10/May/23
Click Here here, he does look at least 3 cm shorter than valverde (182 listed, how true it is, we don't know), and valverde isn't standing straight. but for sure Carlos, is not more than 179. maybe morning height 179
Jay37 said on 7/May/23
I think it's very impressive for someone his size to be dominating the way he does. He's relatively small for a modern tennis player. No more than 179cm.
MarioC said on 29/Apr/23
I saw him in Barcelona. He is more 178 than 180
Height Analyzer 2 said on 28/Apr/23
I watched him in the Miami Open, he was a good 6 inches shorter than me, so the max I could argue for Alacaraz would be 180. I think he's closer to 179.5 than 180 by the evening, but that's really just splitting hairs. His range is probably somewhere in the 179.5-181.6 category, making him a true 180 in the afternoon.
Jay37 said on 15/Apr/23
Seems slightly below 180cm..Definitely no 6 footer.. The 6'1'' claim was ridiculous and an example of how the ATP fudges player heights. Shapovalov is another example of a guy inflating his height.
Jawilder said on 1/Apr/23
Worst case 5’10.75 best case 5’11.25. I’d lean closer to the latter.

That Murray picture (high resolution: Click Here, different angle: Click Here) is interesting.

Paula Badosa (next to Alcaraz) is actually listed at 5ft 11, and Alcaraz has half an inch on her, which would put him at 5ft 11.5. At the same time, there is no doubt that Murray has more than just 2.5 inches on Alcaraz. In fact, there's easily 4 inches between the two, which would put Alcaraz in the 5ft 10 range, and Badosa would be 5ft 9.5 at most. Those heights would also be consistent with Halep, who is 5ft 5-5.5 range.

In any case, 5ft 11 is still the highest I'm inclined to give Alcaraz. If anything, he is closer to 5ft 10.5 than 5ft 11.
Jawilder said on 28/Mar/23
Such a good downgrade. I was actually sort of expecting this. Rob has the tennis players on absolute lock. Good stuff Rob.

Rob, Carlos is taller than 5'11" for sure:
with so-called 6' Dusan Lajovic Click Here
with 6'2" Cameron Norrie Click Here
May You bring back Alcaraz to 5'11.25"?

If Andy Murray is 187 how can this guy be 181? Click Here here look at this height difference? He is not more than 178

but then you will need to downgrade sebastian yatra to 175 and Maluma to 172 maybe
Charly95 said on 20/Mar/23
Click Here here is the picture, I do see around 20 cm difference. Danil has long head. and Alcaraz has very thick hair.
Charly95 said on 20/Mar/23
I just saw picture of him and danil, he looks 178/179

He didn’t grow lol, this listing is perfect. He could even be 5’11 flat.

Rob Could he be 5'11 flat? I feel like he is around 1-1.5 shorter than Nadal?

Yeah there's a chance of that figure.

What about the 21 yr old Jack Draper he's listed at 6'4" on his ATP profile. He recently had a feature on the ATP Tour official youtube and he said that at 16 he was 5'7" but that he is nearly 6'4"now.
Savagetez said on 15/Jan/23
5ft 11 flat at the MAX. He struggles to look over 5ft 11 with 6ft 0.25 Nadal.

Flat 5'11

I would say 180-181cm than 181-182cm.

I'd say he's taller. I would ping him at 5'11.75". He is solidly taller than JC Ferrero and the latter one is at the very least 5'10.25"

Carlos is one strong, fit man.
Jawilder said on 9/Nov/22
Was wrong on Carlitos. Great listing Rob. Like another poster said, 5’11 could be dead on.
Philip Z said on 9/Nov/22
I'm still puzzled by his original 6ft 1 listing given by the ATP. He's not even 6ft, let alone 6ft 1. Either he's been wearing the biggest shoes ever for that measurement or he wasn't actually measured and just submitted that height himself.

Either way, he looks close to 1.5 inches shorter than Nadal most of the time, so 5ft 11.25 is actually the most I'd give him. 5ft 11 or 5ft 10.75 may be closer to what he measures, as he typically looks at least 2.5 inches shorter than Djokovic as well.

Seems credible to me, slightly over 5.11. Visibly a little shorter than Nadal.
