I'd believe 5'10". People want him to seem shorter to feel better about themselves. He's not a short looking guy, he looks about average 5'10". Kevans brought up a comparison to Prepon, who I doubt would lie to make herself seem taller (woman usually want to seem shorter). 5'9"-5'10" seems exactly right. The listed height is perfect. Danny is one of those people that look shorter than they seem, mostly because he has round shoulders. His posture is terrible you can tell. From watching that 70s show, he looks about as tall as Laura who is a good 5'10. He's deff. about an inch shorter than Topher, not much more. And a good 2 inches taller than Fez. How can people say that he's wearing "lifts" inside his boots without actually seeing them. His boots have a good 2 inch heel, yes. But most shoes have a good inch or so of heel too, unless you're wearing sandals. Kate says on 2/Nov/08

saw this guy at joe's pizza on carmine st in manhattan (nyc) in the summer of 2006. the pizzeria is really small and everyone eats their pizza while standing, so i got a really good look at him. i'd peg his height at 5'9" MAX, but more likely 5'8.5" or 5'8.75". i was surprised, because on "that '70s show" he looks more like 5'10" - which he clearly is not in real life. also, i remember him wearing typical hipster sneakers, so it's highly unlikely that he had any insoles or lifts in his footwear.
when i saw this guy, i remember thinking, "he might be an inch shorter than my brother", who's 5'9.5" barefoot. so while i'm tempted to list danny at 5'8.5", i will acknowledge that he doesn't have brad pitt-esque posture. so again, i'll say 5'9" max, but possibly 1/4" to 1/2" below that. martijn says on 29/Sep/08

I've been studying Danny too, just watched the episodes on Roseanne. Masterson looks 5'8" sometimes, and at most 5'9" He's at least 18, (The year is 1994 in the show, so my comment below about him being 20 is incorrect) so let's conclude he's probably stopped growing. I've also been watching that 70's show a lot. I've been studying Masterson's footwear. I really do believe he has lifts in his boots from the way they look and how his foot seems to be/look, if that makes sense. You ask, "why would they do that?" Well, for the same reason they put Mila Kunis in 3" heels. they do that so she won't look so short next to Prepon, and it's easier to fit her into the same frame. Also, you already have a "short" guy, in Wilmer V. who obviously wears lifts on the show many times, as sometimes, he literally looks almost 2 inches taller in some episodes. In the episode with Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who's listed at 5'9.5" here), he was at least a half-inch taller. And again, I'll say that he didn't look to be above 5'9" on Roseanne. Topher is def. 5'11 I'd say. He has minimum 1 inch on Danny. Danny might very well be 5'10. Now that makes Wilmer at 5'8 if he was lucky but I see Danny with 2-3 inches on Wilmer. Ashton is about 6'2. Kurt Woodsmith looks about 6'0.

When Danny was on Roseanne, he was 16-17, so it's possible that he wasn't even fully grown yet. And as nate said, he usually looks about half an inch shorter than Topher. Granted he wears the boots, but Topher wore big shoes sometimes as well. I'd say that heights they both claim are accurate, with Danny being 5'10", and Topher being 5'11". nate says on 24/Dec/07

Danny Masterson was on a few episodes on Roseanne before he did That 70's Show. I have to say, he didn't look over 5'9 on that show comparing him to 5'4 Roseanne and 5'1 Sara Gilbert. Might have even been closer to 5'8. Also, it should be noted that during most of the first season on That 70's Show, Danny really did look 5'8-5'9. After though, he "grew" and looked pretty much 5'10 for the rest of the series. I'm sorry, I just can't believe 5'10 for this guy though. I recently saw a scene where he's standing next to a barefoot Mila Kunis (who is about 5'3) and he looked maybe 5'10 in shoes. Rob's pretty much got him right, he could be 5'8.5". Or maybe wilmer is 5 feet 8.5 buy ya in that 70's show wilmer and topher are mostly wearing flatter footwear than danny who is always in 4 - 5 cms heels and who knows maybe lifts and is still shorter than topher who is wearing flat shoes and is listed 5 feet 11 but might be 6 feet but that is maximum for him but i think topher is 182 so maybe danny is 5 feet 10 but then the question remains how does wilmer only look 1 inch shorter than danny. (costar) is clearly under 5'-8", and knowing that Danny is (at most) 1" taller than Wilmer (and Danny is usually in boots and Wilmer is not), shouldn't Danny now be listed at 5'-9"? Personally, I think the guy is a little over 5'-8" barefoot, but I think even 5'9" is being a little generous but at least more realistic. |
