I'm 19, 5'11'' and I think I'm short compared to my friends lol. My cousin is 6' and my LITTLE brother is 6'1''! Up here in Seattle it really isn't that uncommon to see Asian kids over 6' especially Korean guys.

John is 5'10, I am half indian and I am 6'3 and both my parents are below average height, cant explain I never thought I would be over 6'0. Kebab says on 10/Mar/10
Mr Editor:
Why do you cave in to the political correctness and censor truth while pandering to this MD. This individual seems to have a problem with everyone who doesn't conform to his views. Why delete my post?
[Editor Rob: to be fair talking about indians not liking chinese or whatever has nothing to do with the height] MD says on 9/Mar/10
Kebab, you don't have a damned idea of what you're talking about. It's comments like that that get through that make me wonder if Rob moderates this board, at all.
[Editor Rob: of course it gets moderated, some comments are borderline daft though, if some get missed and pointed out I can delete them!] Anonymous says on 8/Feb/10
This generation (age 30 and less) of asian guys is pretty tall thanks to better nutrition. My cousin's 6'2 (and his wife is 5'9), they've lived their whole lives in China. I'm pretty sure John Cho grew up in the west anyway (he was born in Korea) so that takes care of the nutrition aspect. He's about the average american male height. FittyNone says on 8/Feb/10
My man Gmney. I know what they're like. I seen them in Chinhae their about 5'6-6 foot. Five of them needed a blanket party to demonstrate whose the boss. CNFK later threw some money to smooth things over. Ain't no diff in L.A Koretown back a few yrs. You just keeping it real. Rane says on 7/Feb/10
At my college I have met two Korean dudes and one is 5"10 and da other one is 6" and I have seen others walk around who appear easily 5"10. So I believe John cho is 5"10 legitly. GMney says on 1/Feb/10
Kevin they're tough with they're own kind. They're afraid of the other races. Experienced it with 11 yrs traveling around Asia averaging 5'4 to 5'10. I only wrote the truth. The ones I saw in NYC Chinatown aren't much different. The women range from 5'3 to 5'8 and prefer us. linke says on 24/Jan/10
I agree with md. Kevin says on 23/Jan/10
Wow GMNEY you just wrote the unspoke truth. Holy ****. A sansei friend said she would never go out or marry one of them. She's 5'7 and only dates whites. Michelle Wie is like 5'9 on the golf tour is dating a spanish guy I think from Stanford. GMney says on 21/Jan/10
Well here's a consolation that will make people happy. I was in New York City Chinatown and observered these kids in their 20's -30's yr olds ranging in height distribution from 5'7 - 6'0. Give or take one standard deviation away. Most appeared lanky. I've been informed that Koreans as a generalization do not like Chinese. This was the sentiment in Pusan and Seoul while the Japanese definitely do not like Koreans. MD says on 27/Dec/09
Rob,
Can you ban this GMney guy and delete his comments? This is the second racist/bigoted one I've seen about Asians. GMney says on 26/Dec/09
Usually Asians are short compared to Whites or Blacks. I been to Asia and traveled for 11yrs around the pacific Rim. They are short in comparison. Most range from 5'4 - 5'10. No B.S aggrandizing. Asian women love White men and treat us good. U.S $$$ goes a long way. jasper says on 15/Nov/09
he's 5'10 MD says on 2/Nov/09

Guys, Koreans average 6'0 or taller. I'm 6'1 and I'm always playing point, as I'm the shortest guy on the courts. I met John at the Pusan film festival and he's a good 5'11. Anonymous says on 17/Aug/09
Saw him crossing the street the other day. Couldn't make out an exact height but I was certainly surprised by his height (easily 5'10"). Also very slim. Anonymous says on 20/Jul/09
hey anonymous who responded to josh j. I lived in Pusan for 5 years and I've been living in Seoul for the past 3, I can pretty much tell you that like 80% of the guys here in Korea are about 5'10 5'11 Sam says on 28/Jun/09
Weird, most of my Korean friends are well over 5'10 and I'm not talking about a couple here I'm talking 7~8 guys.
I think Koreans are the bigger/taller Asians among them all.
As for John Cho I'd give him around 5'9 and half, maybe 5'10 before his morning coffee anonymous says on 26/Jun/09
josh j thats so wrong. i was in korea last summer and iam a vietnamese born in germany. iam 6 feet and in korea the young males seems to be all like 5ft8,5ft9 not more than that, i hanged out a lot with young guys there cuz i'm still 15. so i was like 2-3 inches taller than the most of them. sure there 'd been some guys around 6ft like me, but the most are like 5ft8 Josh.J says on 12/Jun/09
i dont know where you get your info Ed but recent generation of S.Korean males are fiarly tall. im 5'10 and im regarded as 'average' in korea. the reason the average height males seem taller is because the average height of women in korea is quite short. most young men are around 5'11~6ft these days. aussi says on 12/Jun/09
South Koreans are pretty damn tall, especially compared to North Koreans because they have a better lifestyle. Ed is right, most Korean men are around 5'9", my mate who's serving in the South Korean army told me that the new generation kids there are all around 5'9" to near 6' although there are still a lot of 6 footers +. Penn is around 5'10 maybe a bit more and Cho's the same height. It's still hard to tell as it also depends on your shoes and the ground you stand on. Ed says on 9/Jun/09
MD is almost right. The average young Korean male (18-21 years of age) is 173 cm, which translates to a little over 5'8''. Mandatory military service is required for almost all Korean males, and 173 cm is the average that was arrived at after measuring everyone who has to serve.
5'10'' is still an uncommon height for young Korean men, though obviously not as uncommon as the previous generation. eric says on 3/Jun/09
Cho looks about a 5'9" next to 6'0" Chris Pine. On the Chris Pine page there are alot of pics showing a 3" difference. MD says on 7/May/09
Is there really a full inch between John and Simon Pegg, here?

This is not to mention that Pegg is the one of the weaker 5'9"s I've ever seen. chin says on 4/Mar/09
No. I'm talking about korean fobs too, MD. I have a lot of international friends as well. Korean young boyz who were born after 90's are pretty tall around 6 actaully. And the average doen't mean people are really like that. It's like even though the US average height for a man is around 5'9", most american guyz are actually taller than that. Leung says on 2/Mar/09
Comets, you talk as though 5’10” is a rare occurrence among Koreans. Seriously 5’10” is nothing special, it’s quite common among young male Koreans. MD says on 2/Mar/09
You must mean Korean-Americans, Chin. The 5'8.5" is for the younger generations in Korea. chin says on 1/Mar/09
yeh.. all of my korean frdz(guyz) are around 5'10.. and korean teens are pretty tall around 6' nowadayz.. MD says on 26/Feb/09
Comets, that was a dumb comment. If you'd seen the guy, you wouldn't be doubting it instead of going off of stereotypes. And, BTW, Koreans are now among the tallest people in East Asia averaging 5'8.5". Comets says on 25/Feb/09
Cho at 5'10.. I doubt that, Koreans are rarely over 5'7 let alone 5'10..this probably needs to be clarified Anonymous says on 25/Aug/08
cho has a bigger head but there both about same hieght..who cares' dits says on 30/Jul/08
there's a scene in the first harold and kumar where they both stand on the sidewalk..i think the scene where they first encounter the racist cop.kal penn had about an inch on john cho,and it was so even in some other scenes of the movie, tho ill have to watch it to refresh my memory. DTA says on 15/Jul/08
In Harold and Kumar, Cho and Penn are the same height. In fact if anything Kal Penn could be taller since I noticed in scenes where the camera was pointed directly at them and not angled that Penn's eyeline was a little above Cho's. Dubious way of deciding however since foreheads aren't the same height but still.. there is no way John Cho has more than .5 inch over Kal Penn. 5'10" sounds about right, 5'10.5" tops jay says on 13/Jul/08
looks about average so 5'10" seems about right. since he's spiking up his hair he can appear 6ft. Josh says on 18/May/08
I met him he's a good 5'9 1/2 Brah says on 18/May/08
I met this guy last year. He is about 5'10". He spikes his hair way up, so that can create the illusion that he is taller. steph says on 14/May/08
i think kal penn is 5 10, john cho 5 11 C. says on 14/May/08
I think he's taller than 5'10", but no more than 5'11". It's hard to tell. herm says on 2/May/08
john is 5'10 he appeare in an episode of til death, he was dwarfed by brad garrett who is 6'8.5, he's just average height. MD says on 21/Jun/07
I'm not so sure about Cho and Penn. It seems that Kal has decidely poorer posture, and John's always standing as straight as he can, it seems. Maybe Kal needs to have that quarter of an inch taken off, though. He defintely isn't ever taller than Cho in pictures.

I also see at least 1.5" difference between Cho and Biggs.
Here’s another discrepancy, Kal Penn is listed 5’10.25” but in “Harold and Kumar” Cho is clearly taller.
[Editor Rob: you counting his 3-inch hairdo?] Bombay Rocker says on 19/Jun/07
Isnt this guy in the american pie wedding, i am 100% sure he was about an inch to inch and a hlf taller than jason biggs when both were wearing sneakers.....rob you can even check that scene whene john cho and another friends come to bigg's party before he and alysson get married and he says something like...i dont even know half the people here....you can clearly see that jason is at the very very least an inch shorter than him while both are in sneakers so how come jason is 177 and john is 178 here? Leung says on 28/May/07
Kal Penn is one of those guys that can look short in solo scenes but when he is standing next to other people you can see that he is 5’10”ish. Dax Wheyton says on 30/Apr/07
In "Harold and Kumar," he and Kal Penn seemed to be about the same height. But in real life photos, he's consistently about an inch/inch-and-a-half taller than Kal. This guy seems a solid 5'10" if not 5'11". Bombay Rocker says on 14/Mar/07
If he is 5 feet 10 then theres no way jason biggs is 5 feet 9.5, more like 5 feet 8.5 or even 5 feet 8 but i know thats not correct so john is more like 5 feet 11 or even 5 feet 11.5 MD says on 12/Mar/07
Eddie Kaye Thomas is given 5'10.75", here, Anonymous. Anonymous says on 12/Mar/07

weird about his shoes, but lifts could be hidden. But at a small Asian Film Festival? trueheight says on 13/Mar/06
