Kourosh said on 17/Sep/15
I agree with alex, i think 6'0.5 or 6'0.75 would be better for Austin. I do not think he is full 6'1.
james said on 14/Sep/15
Yeah I never believed he was 6'2 .he and 6'0 Bret Hart had a stare down at survivor series 1996 before the match started and they were the same height it looked
Alex 6'0 said on 12/Sep/15
Austin at 50 years old has def. lost at least a small fraction id say. Peak 6'0.5 and today 6'0 flat I give him
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 1/Sep/15
Rob, he had neck surgery some years back.

If he's still 6ft1 today is it possible that he was taller at one point?
[Editor Rob: he could have shipped a fraction, he can still pull off looking near it.]
Alex 6'0 said on 30/Aug/15
Rob, think its time for a peak and now height listing for Austin?
[Editor Rob: at some point, I think he can at times look a weak 6ft 1 now.]

Yea he doesn't look 50. Seems to have not aged really over the years lol. Guys a legend
Height183 said on 20/Aug/15
You'd never guess Austin was 50. He looks great for his age. Seems like the guy never ages at all. A bit like Rob Lol
Alex 6'0 said on 20/Aug/15
Austin is 50 years old today. Guaranteed he lost a bit of height. Age plus his surgeries. I think he was a solid 6'0.5 guy in his younger days but nowadays not over 6'0
Height183 said on 17/Aug/15
Same for me Alex.

I can't imagine Stone Cold being taller than me today. If anything, I would be a few mm taller than him.

At his absolute peak he probably would've been a decent 184cm.
Alex 6'0 said on 15/Aug/15
Dmeyer, I have Austin at 6'0 today. His peak a solid 6'0.5 guy. Back then him and Rock were always 2 inches apart but they were billed 3 inches apart.
dmeyer said on 12/Aug/15
Rob to me this guy looks near 6'1 even today do you agree ?
[Editor Rob: yes I think he can still pull off looking it.]
Height183 said on 11/Aug/15
@Alex 6'0: I think It was Vinces thick toupee like hairstyle that made him look a little taller than a bald Austin..

It was really close back in the day, both looked 184cm. Maybe Vince was a tad taller at 6'0.75''
Alex 6'0 said on 11/Aug/15
Austin was always at least an inch taller than Bret hart and HBK during their peaks and those guys were 5'11 range
Alex 6'0 said on 11/Aug/15

Vince was 6'1/6'1.25 prime, 5'11.5 range today.

Rock is 6'3 range, if he's lost anything its not even noticeable.

Austin has always looked around 6'0.75/6'1 range, might have lost a fraction.

Vince close to 2" on Austin in the late 90's

austin is leaning to one side thus losing height there...

vince 2 inches taller than austin doesn't make sense given rock had about 2.5 inches on vince in the late 90s and rock didn't have 4-4.5 inches on austin around that time.

i met austin a number of times between 2002 and 2008 (admittedly after his neck fusion surgery which cost him a full year of his career) but he looked around 184cm in person..that would place vince around 185cm in late 90s
Dmeyer said on 28/Jul/15
6'0.75-1in peak and now 6'0.5-0.75 seems believable from video and pics i saw of him , if he is 6ft flat then seagal is is 6ft2-2.25 not possible

@Heightcrazyred6f: Austin always wears big boots, you never catch him at least on WWE programming and on his own shows wearing anything other than them and If you go back to the photo I posted earlier, those boots give Austin at least a sweet 1.5 inch....I believe Austin always was 6f maybe a strong one and after his injury I think he could have lost a fraction so today, 6'0 to 5'11.75 is a great possibility in my opinion.

It's amazing how much Vince has shrunk from those days. He is still fairly tall today though.

Yes, he has shrunk a lot. Was easily over 6'1" at his peak, but just look at poor Roddy Piper. He was at least 6'1" himself at his peak and today, due to having part of his spine removed and hip replacements, he's looking MAX 5'8" today. Wrestling is a brutal game. There are no winners. Only survivors.

Rob, this is the video from Raw in which Mike Tyson (listed 5'10 here), Steve Austin (listed 6'1 here) and Vince Mcmahon (listed 6'1.5 here) and is after Austin's nasty neck injury, aside from that all three guys are in good shape, watching this video do you still think Austin is 3 inches taller than Tyson?

or Vince is 3.5 taller than Tyson?
Omid said on 3/Dec/14
He may have been 6'1 (that I'm not sure about) but that nasty neck and spine injury have definitely had a toll on his overall height, so 6 foot or just below 6 foot could be the spot on for Austin provided that he was 6'1, so was he 6'1 barefoot before his incident?
Tallone said on 12/Nov/14
I did the math on that mugshot, and 10 units looks like 10 cm or about 4 inches, since it covers about half his head. It looks like his 193 cm in that shot, which is 75.98", or just under 6'4". That seems a little tall. I guess he is wearing boots of some sort. They couldn't add more than 2", so I'm thinking at least 6'2" flat-footed. The units to the right of the pic, with the labels hidden from view, are inches. Since the metric units are in increments of 2, 2 cm = 0.79 in, which is consistent with the proportions in the picture. Inches have bold lines every three units, which is consistent with 12 inches in a foot, or quarter foot increments. The shot just happens to be centered more towards the metric side of a dual measurement wall.
Alex 6'0 said on 7/Nov/14
Some wrestlers get inflated more than others. 5'11 getting billed at 6'4 would be insane. Angle at 5'10 getting billed at 6'2 was crazy but he was only listed 6'2 on back then but was always referred to as 6'0 on TV.

Nowadays what they're doing is incomprehensible. You'll get 5ft11 guys being put at 6ft4!

its a much in a muchness actually. i don't know any 5'11 guy today getting billed 6'4. kurt angle was getting billed 6'2 back in 2000-02, whereas dave finlay was getting billed 6'2 between 2005-08..both 5'10, remember glen jacobs jumped from being billed at 6'9 in 95 to 7ft in late 97.

i doubt austin was walking around 6'3 in those boots either, they don't even look an inch to me and clearly smaller than takers Click Here
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 29/Oct/14

Yeah those boots. In those days, the billed heights weren't quite as ridiculous as they are now. Any of those guys who were 1-2in below a billed height would in the flesh appear at least their billed heights. Nowadays what they're doing is incomprehensible. You'll get 5ft11 guys being put at 6ft4!
Pingu said on 28/Oct/14

Attitude Era Austin was easily walking around at 6ft3 in boots. The Rock would have been near 6ft5 in his boots and Triple H about 6ft4.

No less than 6ft1 then and now
Alex 6'0 said on 25/Oct/14
Attitude with a 6'0 Austin those heights make sense pretty much. a 6'2 peak HHH makes Rock no less than 6'2.5 back then. At about 50 Austin had to have lost a bit of height
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 25/Oct/14
187-188cm in The Longest Yard
Attitude said on 25/Oct/14
That does seem right. It would put McMahon at 6'1, HHH at 6'2 and a bit, HBK at 5'10, Bret Hart at a weak 6 feet more like a 5'11.75, and Owen Hart at a weak 5'9.

Though that's by memory of how I picture the others with Austin.
Alex 6'0 said on 24/Oct/14
That's a low angle camera shot and will make the difference look a bit more. From most faceoffs between Rock and Austin back then Rock looked a good 2 inches taller but they billed them 3 inches apart.
Height182 said on 24/Oct/14
@Pingu: Very good picture. Just shows Austin was never ever 6'1''. That was the best hell in a cell match too in my opinion.

So I was watching WWE highlight videos at Youtube and came across this one match where Rock and Austin come face to face. "6 man hell in a cell" match from Armageddon 2000.

Here's picture of it: Click Here

Rock seems to be leaning forward, if he stood straight, looks to be about 3 inch difference? Both seem to have very similar footwear. If Rock was 6'3 in 2000 during his wrestling days, this would put Austin around 6ft back then.
Alex 6'0 said on 21/Oct/14
Austin could have been 6'2 in boots if he was 6'0.5 peak. Even if he wasn't 6'2 in boots he was very close so passed for 6'2 range but I agree no more than 6'0 today.

Stone Cold is no taller than 6'1". Austin always did look taller than that when standing alone because you don't see too many guys with a 250+ pound build on someone of his height. However, when he stands next to Vince Mcmahon or Bret Hart, you realize the 6'2" label is a little off.
BorkLaser said on 8/Sep/14
As a wrestler becomes more and more popular, they get billed at a height really close to their real one (well except for Hogan lol) due to all the appearances and comparison opportunities. Cena (who is 6'0.5") is billed at 6'1", and Austin was billed at 6'2", so at least 6'1" for Austin at peak height. 6'1.5"-6'2" is also very likely.

Alex, I believe and have ever since watching Beyond the Mat, where he looked short next to the Rock (backstage), that he's 6'0". Not taller than that. He wore big clunky boots a lot of the time, that gave him the 6'1"-6'2" impression, but take those boots off, and he's 6'0" (or at least was when he wrestled).

Miz is 6'0" and he was shorter than Austin on a 2011 episode of Raw when he was in boots and Austin in sneakers.

Also, Bret Hart, a proven 6ft, was consistently shorter than him in 1997.

Guy's never been under 6'1" in his life. It'll be about 8-10 years yet before 6'0" starts to look like a possibility.

Attitude, Austin peak 6'0.5 very possible. Today 6'0 flat Id say. Bret Hart at 6'0 I can see. Looked 5'11-5'11.25 with Rob but that's not peak. HBK I'd give 5'11 peak and today 5'10-5'10.5

Height181, injuries may have caused a bit of height but he's turning 50 this year. A bit of natural height loss has happened but only a fraction. Id be surprised if he has lost a full inch

With 6'3.5" Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania XXX. That's not even a three-inch difference. And Hogan was in boots.
SaveUsY2J said on 28/Jul/14
At his peak he was never under 6'1 and I doubt he's much under that today, if at all. A peak Bret "Hitman" Hart was 6'0 as seen next to Rob, and Austin was noticeably taller than him. He had more than an inch on 5'11" Shawn Michaels in 1998 as well, and HBK always wore boots that would give a similar height boost to those of Austin.

Even in recent photos, he isn't much shorter than Goldberg, who was a legit 6'2.5 in his prime though may be down to 6'2 flat nowadays.
Attitude said on 28/Jul/14
Hey Alex, if Austin was 6 feet or a bit above, what would that make Bret and Shawn? Since Bret looked to be about half an inch to an inch shorter and Shawn looked easily 2 inches smaller. Shawn was an avid wearer of high heeled boots and Bret wore sneakers.
Alex 6'0 said on 27/Jul/14
Austin was a constant boot wearer so that would give a bit more height. He could pull off 6'1 legit but was he ever 6'1? I don't know. Probably not. He is turning 50 this year so at least a fraction he's lost. But in his wrestling career 6'0-6'0.5 looks right. Whatever he was Rock was 2 inches taller, HHH 1-1.5 inches taller during their days in WWF/WWE. 6'0 Austin puts Rock 6'2 range and HHH 6'1.5 range

He still looks a good 6'1 nowadays, back in 2011 he made a guest appearance on an episode of Raw and was an inch taller than The Miz who's 6-foot even.
Alex 6'0 said on 4/Jun/14
Austin is going to be 50 end of the year so he's not old enough to lose much height. A fraction I can see but he's also had some surgeries so could have lost a bit more.
SaveUsY2J said on 30/May/14
Rob, maybe 6'1.5 peak? He did break his neck, that's got to have had some noticeable effect on his stature. He looked more than an inch taller than Bret Hart back in 1997 anyway....
Hell Yeah said on 22/May/14
If Hogan was around 6'3.5-6'4 max in boots at wrestlemania 30 that will put Austin with his nike airmax concidering his high shoes advantage at no more than
6'1, 6'1.5 at best, I think now austin is probably a legit 6'0 without shoes on.
Clay said on 4/May/14
Yeah, I would agree. Similar in weight probably as well, it's eery.
Alex 6'0 said on 3/May/14
Clay, Cena def didn't shrink at all. Austin is turning 50 later this year so a fraction lost is pretty possible. Cena I give 6'0.25-6'0.5 and Austin the same at his peak. Today Austin I give 6'0. Its very close
Clay said on 2/May/14
Alex who do you think was taller Cena or Austin, in their primes? I think they're really, really close.
Alex 6'0 said on 30/Apr/14
I don't buy him at 6'1. 6'0-6'0.5 range. He didn't look any taller than Cena who is listed 6'0.5 on here

rhaegar said on 7/Apr/14
Looked less than 6ft on Wrestlemania next to Hogan, like 4.5 inches shorter in maybe 0.5-1 inch less footwear so if Hogan is 6'3 then Austin is 5'11.5 max.
WHAT? said on 29/Jan/14
Who measures and tells people they're 6'7/8"? Are you kidding me?
James B said on 20/Jan/14
RVD for sure looks 5'11
Lorne said on 13/Jan/14
I'm aware Punk is listed 5ft11.75, but I think 5ft11.5 max(I'm splitting hairs, I know) yeah, 181cm is my "official" listing for RVD, but I wouldn't rule out flat 5'11(but not less). I was just saying that I think both listings are generous, if only a quarter or half inch. I think Austin is legit 6'1 though:) (and yeah, glad Goldberg was upgraded, that had bothered me for years!)
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 12/Jan/14
Punk is actually listed 5ft11.75, Lorne. Austin could look about 2in taller. I wouldn't put RVD less
than a solid 5ft11 and a fraction over that is more likely. Goldberg edged out Lesnar so I agree with you there that he's 6ft2.5 minimum. Austin looked shorter during that match but was in sneakers.

Also, I just came across old an old 90s clip. Do any of you guys remember a wrestler by the name of Brian Pillman? He was billed 6ft by WWF but in football was listed 5ft10, which is probably closer. Austin always towered over him.
Lorne said on 9/Jan/14
Rampage: CM Punk is no more than 5ft11.5, look at him with Shawn Michaels, who certainly isn't over 5'11 today. And I think better chance 5ft11 for RVD than the 5ft11.5 listing, I give him 5ft11.25 at best. So 6'1 for Austin is fair, but I still can't see Goldberg less than 6ft2.5, he doesn't as well as Austin. For everyone else: How can you say Austin hasn't lost height at 49, but say for sure Rock has at 41? Just saying...

Austin looks 6"1"-6"2" for definite if Punk's 5"11.75"(182cm) and RVD's 5"11.5"(182cm) are accurate. I think 186cm is strong possibility, possibly 187cm. He definitely held his own with Triple H and Brock Lesnar (both 6"2"-6"3") in the Attitude Era aswell as with The Rock (6"3"-6"4")
Ajax said on 5/Jul/13
You have to realize that most guys who claim their 6'1" are actually not that tall unlike Austin
who's actually that tall. My friend told me he was 6'1" and that I was 6'3". I measured him at just under 6' (5'11.75") and I'm 6'2". So in essence, most people don't realize that a true
6'1er is actually pretty ample in height.

Frank, I looked at our barefoot pic of us with Mamun and thats really no more than an inch and could be less. My posture is a bit better than yours there. Also you have a longer forehead which makes our eye level further apart which gives the impression I'm more taller than you than I really am. I remember this was taken around in the early-mid afternoon where we would have all been close to our low height for the day. You are over 5'11. 5'11.25-5'11.5 you def look

Frank, yes I can appear an easy 6'1 but in reality my height is 6'0-6'0 1/4. Also in our pic the height difference looked slightly different in certain pics. Some pics can be decieving. A few pics I looked more like 1.5 inches taller then some I thought it looked closer to an inch difference. Have you recently measured yourself again on a stadiometer? I wouldn't say you were under 5'11 though

Austin was always in great shape in his WWF/WWE days. He was never shredded but he was cut enough and had pretty visible abs. Last I seen him he looked to have gotten bigger again
Shaun said on 24/Aug/12
I could actually buy anything up to 275 lb for his current size but I think he looks at least 18 stone which is 252 pounds and probably more 19 stone. And he looks more bad ass with the bald head!
Shaun said on 24/Aug/12
@Alex and Danimal. Yeah he's massive. In the latest xxx film he looks 250-260 lbs of solid muscle. Indeed back to his old wrestling size but less body fat, huge.
Alex said on 10/Aug/12
Danimal, there were a couple movies he looked maybe 220lbs tops but movies like Rundown and Walking tall he was closer to 250lbs but those movies were in 03-04 not long after he stopped wrestling fulltime in 2002. The movie the Game Plan he looked below 220lbs
Alex said on 9/Aug/12
Danimal, yea that makes sense. Rock was usually smaller in size in his movies other than the Scorpion King where he was 260. He looks to be back to his old wrestling size again but more cut though!
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 8/Aug/12
I think Goldberg's peak height was 280lbs and definitely
the most jacked up. I think The Rock was 5-10lbs lighter at
his heaviest (pre-WWF career), then after he retired from wrestling
withered down to 230lbs. But now is back up to 260lbs (give or take).

No offense to The Rattlesnake but a fair bit of his mass has turned into fat.
Not in great shape. But he was never a typically ripped guy. Just big, blocky
muscles. Upper end of 250lbs.
Alex said on 7/Aug/12
Just saw the pic with Austin, Rock and Goldberg. Austin was always a big guy mainly in his WWF/WWE days but hes look even bigger in that pic. If you look at ROck now hes huge. he really bulked up for his latest movie role. Guy is more jacked at 40 than he was at 25-30 LOL
Alex said on 6/Aug/12
I've done a few measurement in the past right out of bed and was in the 6'0.75-6'1 range but that height you lose right away anyway. I've never been taller than 6'0.25 in the afternoon/evening. 6'2 217lbs is a good weight. I weigh 187lbs currently but I've cut down from a solid 205. I was already in good shape, just wanted to cut up more. But I'll rebulk sometime next month back up to at least 205-210
Ajax said on 6/Aug/12
Have no idea. I'd guess probably 6'2.5-.75". I weigh 217lbs and have a size 14 USA which is a little large for my height IMO. I think depending on your foot wear and posture, you can fool someone into
thinking your maybe 1.5" taller than you are. I mean, the hair over 6'5" challenger fooled people into
thinking he was 6'6"-6'7"
Alex said on 5/Aug/12
Ajax, haha yea thats true. Though some 6'2 guys claim 6'4. I could claim 6'2 but some would and wouldn't question it. If I claimed 6'1 from now on 99% of people wouldn't question it. You're a legit 6'2 guy. What are you out of bed and midday?
Ajax said on 4/Aug/12

I agree. Basically %99 of men add 1-2" of height. I'm 6'1 7/8" at my low and usually at 6'2" and people think I'm 6'3" and 6'4". But Alex, haven't you noticed most guys 6'2" and up usually don't exaggerate their height? We should claim 6'2" "the height exaggeration cut-off!" :)
Alex said on 2/Aug/12
Alot of guys who are 6'0 and even some 5'11 will claim 6'1 so it can make a legit 6'1 guy look 6'2-6'3. I am 6'0 at my low and 6'1 is the height I get guessed at most often
Ajax said on 30/Jul/12
He's one of the few 6'1" guys who actually is that tall. About 98% of the guys I met who claimed 6'1" were actually 6' and in many cases way less. Almost everyone exaggerates their height until they hit the 6'2" mark.
