How tall is Stone Cold Steve Austin

Stone Cold Steve Austin's Height

6ft 1.25in (186 cm)

American wrestler and actor best known for roles in films such as The Condemned and The Expendables. He has claimed: "I'm 6' 1" and also "6-2, 250 [pounds]."
I got measured the other day. I thought I was about Six-One...I used to be Six-Two, but I got dropped on my head so many times I figured I was Six-One. I clocked in at Six-One and a half...I'm officially Six-One and a half and 272 [pounds].

Hes 6 foot absolute max these days, if not from the start. If you watch his Broken Skull show. Theres women on there who are 6'1 who are taller then him.

His 6'2 claim had to be with shoes on. 6'1 max barefoot... ...if that.

I think a bit over 6ft3 for Rude is likely and could pull off 6ft4 at times. Had a great build and great posture. Apparently, not a guy you'd want to cross...
Edge said on 20/May/17
The Rock never looked more than 2 inches taller and he was 6'3 and HHH never looked more than 1 inch taller and he was maybe 6'2 if he's lucky. Steve always looked around 6'1 with these guy's and others so he's probably around 6 feet even today.
6'1-6'1.5 Guy said on 19/May/17
For example, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson always looked 4 cm taller (but not more than 5 cm) and it gives me the idea that both were typical 6'1 and 6'3 guys at their peak.
And since now they are both slightly lost in growth, then 189-190 cm (6'2.5-6'2.75) for The Rock and 184-185 cm (6'0.5-6'0.75) for Stone Cold is most likely.

@Death
First off that's a bad name to choose to go by for a height debate. Secondly Steve Austin ain't 5'11". I'm sorry you're 5'11" but Steve Austin is over 6'0". Also, your statement that most athletes are not shorter people is ridiculous.

Rude definitely looked 6'4" next to Steve Austin. He was without question at least 3.5" taller. Honestly, I think Austin was more like 6'0.5" and looked taller in his boots that he'd wear in WWE when he was not in his tights. But, Rude claimed 6'4" and he looked almost 4" taller than Austin. Also, Austin didn't look much taller than 5'11" Brother Love or 5'9" Ricky Steamboat. I think Austin's height should be lowered to 6'0.5". There is just no way in the world he was 6'1.25" next to 6'3"-6'4" Rick Rude. That's not even up for debate.

Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 11/May/17
We don't know what the ground level is like in that clip and Austin is leaning a bit. In other photos/clips the difference isn't as big. Rude was billed 6ft3-4 and usually looked it with other 6ft1-2 guys. I think Rude at 192cm and Austin at 186cm is still reasonable.

Rob, what do you think?
Editor Rob: a good 6ft 3 is still possible there.

His 6'1 claim is fine for a peak height but I don't think he was ever taller than that. Struggling to look 6'1 with Hogan, so yeah, probably lost a fraction and can at times appear nearer 6'0 in some cases. Its possible Austin went with both heights if he measured 6'2 morning and 6'1 night, hence his 6'1.5 claim.

272 lbs is pretty believable for Steve circa 2003-2004. He was MASSIVE back then. A lot of people simply don't understand that muscles plus fat weigh much more than they can imagine. As a co-general manager of Raw, Steve (being out of shape) could easily hit 270 pound mark. To me he looked even heavier than Goldberg during their "friendship" angle
Danimal said on 17/Feb/17
6'1.5" in shoes. No way is he that height barefoot. No way. 6'0" barefoot MAX.
Here he is in NORMAL dress shoes (not his usual clunky boots) next to a PRE-shrunken Vince McMahon in 1998:

haha 272lbs?!?
Go look at guys that are 250 and have low body fat, they are monsters at 250 and right around the 6' mark.
He's got a good build but he's also got a good 30lbs of fat on him it shows in his stomach but with a lot of muscle, it just isn't obvious. I'd bet his weight at around 230-240lbs.
Hunter McIntyre is listed as 6'2 and in shots you can see he's obvious several inches taller than Steve. Hunter is definitely hitting 6'2 there's no doubt in my mind.
Steve Austin is probably dead on 5'11 same as myself and just like myself, has had spinal injuries. I used to be just a quarter inch shy of 6'1 before wrecking my back. Nearly 20 years later I measured myself a few months ago and was dead on 5'11

Wrestlers are notoriously shorter in person and generally speaking, athletes tend to be shorter guys so he's often around people several inches shorter than him and is still just a very big guy. People will always assume I'm 6'1 and I'm just not but, people like to add 2" to their own true height so there ya go.
Eagles said on 13/Feb/17
"Straightahead" says Goldberg is 235lbs today. If that's true, then Lesnar is only 255lbs... let's stop down grading these pro athletes size. You see them from a distance in a ring/cage on tv. You may be their height or taller, but you ain't larger nor stronger.

Currently Goldbergs about 6'1.5" 262lbs, and Austins about 6'1" 258lbs

6'1'' flat is the best for Austin

Also, in the mugshot picture the camera is underneath Austin making him appear 6'3''

In reality he isn't even 6'3'' in that picture

If the picture was taken from a fair angle, he would be about 6'2'' at best. I'm sure he was also in boots

272 lbs is very heavy. I' don't know if he is really that big.
I mean today he is the same height as Cena (he lost 0.5 inc) and 22 lbs bigger? He has a big belly but he lost tons of muscles in chest and arms. While Cena has the biggest arm and forearm that you can ever imagine and a big chest. If today Austin is 272 lbs is because he gained fats in his belly.
Peak was between 6 ft 1 and 6 ft 1.25 and 240 pounds
Today is between 6 ft 0.5 and 6 ft 0.75 and 260 pounds for me

He is not taller than Cena and the Miz! back on tough enough in 2011 Cena and Austin were the same height, Austin also had shoe advantage

By the sounds of it, he got measured by a doctor. So his claim is valid but is more than likely taken at an earlier time. Question is whether or not he could have been that mark for real in his 20's?

IMO...he got measured & weighed with shows on & fully clothed. So, if that's the case ? 6'1-1/2" & 272 lbs would make him barefoot 6'0-3/8" to 6'0-1/2" & stripped down to his underwear (true bodyweight) 265-267 lbs.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 13/Jul/16

@mickey true, but that can't account for what looks like an inch and a half at least in difference. Also stone cold is wearing thick sneakers whilst trump is in dress shoes so footware advantage is with Austin.

vince 2 inches taller than austin doesn't make sense given rock had about 2.5 inches on vince in the late 90s and rock didn't have 4-4.5 inches on austin around that time.

i met austin a number of times between 2002 and 2008 (admittedly after his neck fusion surgery which cost him a full year of his career) but he looked around 184cm in person..that would place vince around 185cm in late 90s

Yes, he has shrunk a lot. Was easily over 6'1" at his peak, but just look at poor Roddy Piper. He was at least 6'1" himself at his peak and today, due to having part of his spine removed and hip replacements, he's looking MAX 5'8" today. Wrestling is a brutal game. There are no winners. or Vince is 3.5 taller than Tyson?
Omid said on 3/Dec/14
He may have been 6'1 (that I'm not sure about) but that nasty neck and spine injury have definitely had a toll on his overall height, so 6 foot or just below 6 foot could be the spot on for Austin provided that he was 6'1, so was he 6'1 barefoot before his incident?
Tallone said on 12/Nov/14
I did the math on that mugshot, and 10 units looks like 10 cm or about 4 inches, since it covers about half his head. It looks like his 193 cm in that shot, which is 75.98", or just under 6'4". That seems a little tall. I guess he is wearing boots of some sort. They couldn't add more than 2", so I'm thinking at least 6'2" flat-footed. The units to the right of the pic, with the labels hidden from view, are inches. Since the metric units are in increments of 2, 2 cm = 0.79 in, which is consistent with the proportions in the picture. Inches have bold lines every three units, which is consistent with 12 inches in a foot, or quarter foot increments. The shot just happens to be centered more towards the metric side of a dual measurement wall.

As a wrestler becomes more and more popular, they get billed at a height really close to their real one (well except for Hogan lol) due to all the appearances and comparison opportunities. Miz is 6'0" and he was shorter than Austin on a 2011 episode of Raw when he was in boots and Austin in sneakers.

Also, Bret Hart, a proven 6ft, was consistently shorter than him in 1997.

Height181, HBK I'd give 5'11 peak. Today 5'10-5'10.5. At WM 21 looked a bit taller than 5'9.75-5'10 Kurt Angle. HBK looked a bit shorter or about the same as Bret Hart in the 90's. Not sure on Bret hart's height either

With 6'3.5" Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania XXX. That's not even a three-inch difference. And Hogan was in boots.

At his peak he was never under 6'1 and I doubt he's much under that today, if at all. A peak Bret "Hitman" Hart was 6'0 as seen next to Rob, and Austin was noticeably taller than him. He had more than an inch on 5'11" Shawn Michaels in 1998 as well, and HBK always wore boots that would give a similar height boost to those of Austin.

Even in recent photos, he isn't much shorter than Goldberg, who was a legit 6'2.5 in his prime though may be down to 6'2 flat nowadays.

Hey Alex, if Austin was 6 feet or a bit above, what would that make Bret and Shawn? Since Bret looked to be about half an inch to an inch shorter and Shawn looked easily 2 inches smaller. Shawn was an avid wearer of high heeled boots and Bret wore sneakers.

Austin was a constant boot wearer so that would give a bit more height. He could pull off 6'1 legit but was he ever 6'1? I don't know. Probably not. He is turning 50 this year so at least a fraction he's lost. But in his wrestling career 6'0-6'0.5 looks right. Whatever he was Rock was 2 inches taller, HHH 1-1.5 inches taller during their days in WWF/WWE. 6'0 Austin puts Rock 6'2 range and HHH 6'1.5 range

Peak maybe 6'0.5 today 6'0. At turning 50 this year a bit of height loss has happened
Alex 6'0 said on 14/Jul/14
I think at most he's 6'0.5 today.

peak 6'1.75
today 6'0.75

Alex, yeah I don't believe he's suffered any natural height loss yet but I believe he may have been 6'1.5 before Owen Hart's botched piledriver broke his neck at Summerslam '97. He still looks a good 6'1 nowadays, back in 2011 he made a guest appearance on an episode of Raw and was an inch taller than The Miz who's 6-foot even.

Austin is going to be 50 end of the year so he's not old enough to lose much height. A fraction I can see but he's also had some surgeries so could have lost a bit more.
SaveUsY2J said on 30/May/14
Rob, maybe 6'1.5 peak? He did break his neck, that's got to have had some noticeable effect on his stature. He looked more than an inch taller than Bret Hart back in 1997 anyway....

If Hogan was around 6'3.5-6'4 max in boots at wrestlemania 30 that will put Austin with his nike airmax concidering his high shoes advantage at no more than
6'1, 6'1.5 at best, I think now austin is probably a legit 6'0 without shoes on.
Clay said on 4/May/14
Yeah, I would agree. Similar in weight probably as well, it's eery.
Alex 6'0 said on 3/May/14
Clay, Cena def didn't shrink at all. Austin is turning 50 later this year so a fraction lost is pretty possible. Cena I give 6'0.25-6'0.5 and Austin the same at his peak. Today Austin I give 6'0. Its very close

Alex who do you think was taller Cena or Austin, in their primes? I think they're really, really close.
