That Stanley Johnson assessment is odd. Zion looks taller than Johnson and Johnson only measured 6’5 at combine. Zion supposedly measured 6’6”. If Johnson grew maybe but it’s not believable
Canson said on 29/Nov/23
@Riaz Ahmed: that’s interesting. Stanley Johnson, who is talking, only measured 6’5” at the combine. I’m not sure he’s really taller than Zion. Maybe Zion isn’t quite the 6’5.75 rob lists him but next to Brandon Ingram he looks only about 1.5” shorter. Ingram was listed 6’7 the year the nba did the “not so official measurements”. But I’ve suspected for years that Ingram isn’t as tall as advertised being he’s a good inch if not 3 cm shorter than Kuzma. Kuzma only measured 6’8 flat at the combine and that’s what he looked with Davis on the lakers and Lebron. I doubt he’s under 6’8 tho. Ingram could be 6’6.75. So maybe Zion is 6’5.25 and Johnson is half inch taller or has a higher eye level or had different shoes when they met.

Shane Gray said on 15/May/23
@Canson (follow up to previous comment).... It was Perk who was calling Tatum 6'10", not Steven A.
Shane Gray said on 15/May/23
@Canson Yes, he absolutely called him 6'8". But we've had some analysts and former players call Durant 7 foot and 7'1", Tatum 6'10" (Stephen A), Curry 6'3 1/2" to 6'4' *Jay Williams) etc so it's not totally surprising. First time I've heard anyone call Zion 6'8", though.
Canson said on 13/May/23
@Shane: lol 6’8”? I can see them saying 6’7 because Like you said he is that and at a low he’s 6’6.75 in basketball sneaks probably. 6’5.5 is probably fair for him
GreyV said on 9/May/23
Looks a bit shorter than Courtois, who's a strong 6'6" guy, maybe 6'7 out of bed. Click Here

I think he's similar to Draymond, who can measure 6'6" early in the day and is obviously that tall with shoes on, but falls to ~6'5" at low.

He's clearly shorter than Ingram, who's a legit 6'7", but is also a bit taller than Lonzo in every shot, so he can't be any shorter than 6'5".
Shane Gray said on 8/May/23
@Jesica Keep in mind, vast majority of NBA players and ex players view their height as height in shoes. So he's calling this based on shoe heights. That said, it would have to be an out of bed height in a tall shoe with orthotics to get near that height. I'd give him 6'7" in shoes afternoon height, thought, if going with a 1.5 inch total increase from shoe plus orthotics.

@Canson Jalen Rose was calling Zion 6'8" on NBA countdown tonight.
Canson said on 19/Mar/23
@Shane: agreed. But I will say that he’s probably 6’4.5 within a couple hours of waking or near 6’4.5 by then so he’d get 6’5.75 and rounded up. I would say he’s 6’4-6’4.25 at a low
Shane Gray said on 15/Mar/23
@Canson please see comment below. Also, I need to correct what I said on Booker. He's not an easy 6'6" In shoes by this sites afternoon standard. Out of bed I'd say he definitely hits 6'6" in most basketball shoes. But afternoon or evening, if he's around 6'4" flat then my statement is incorrect.
Shane Gray said on 13/Mar/23
@Canson yes but as you know Bucks official roster differs from that. Hope you are doing well.
Canson said on 11/Mar/23
@Shane: ESPN lists holiday at 6’4”
Shane Gray said on 10/Mar/23
@Canson Also Booker is also an easy 6'6" in shoes and was always listed 6'6" pripr to 2019-2020. I think Hubie is just using shoe heights as that's all he knew foe over 40 years rather than trying to inflate. I agree with you on Durant. 7'1" is silly. He's not ever 7'1" by any type of height standard at any time of day.
Canson said on 7/Mar/23
@Shane: Holiday is listed 6’5 now. I didn’t even realize that. He was always listed 6’4 prior to the crackdown. Holiday’s height is a mystery. I wonder how tall he is out of bed. Maybe he is 6’3.5-.75 and gets 6’5 in shoes. He was an early morning measurement in 2009 so maybe 6’3.25 is early and he’s 6’3.5 out of bed and 6’2.75 at a low which makes sense as that’s about how he looks. In that case he could get a 6’5” listing early. As for Middleton, I agree with you because he used to be listed 6’8” and he’s likely a very strong 6’6 to weak 6’7 guy at a low. He could look really around 6’6.5 at a low and be 6’7.75 in sneaks. He could easily be listed 6’8 but he’s a small forward so 6’7 is a norm for that position
Shane Gray said on 5/Mar/23
@Canson please see my post down a few spots from here. Thanks.
Canson said on 4/Mar/23
@Jawilder: ja is tough to assess. Celebheights 6’1.5 thought 6’2 which I can see sometimes but possible there was slight footwear advantage. I think safe bet is 186 range. Maybe 6’1.5 range like he is. He looks 6’1 range next to Zion but not sure if Zion has grown. Then again I’m not sold on Ingram being the full 6’7 with LeBron or with Kuzma. Maybe he’s 6 6.75 at a low
Canson said on 4/Mar/23
@Viper: I doubt it. Maybe early morning though and he’s 6’2.75 or even 6’2.5”. He was drafted the same year as Curry and Griffin and 2009 was documented early am pre drafts
Shane Gray said on 3/Mar/23
@Canson I don't see that as inflating height on anyone other than Durant (if calling him 7'1".) Booker is an easy 6'6" in shoes. Middleton is 6'8" in shoes. Both were listed as such for years and probably will be next yearas many teams are going back to old standards. As for Holiday, he is now listed 6'5". Hubie is simply using his listing. He's likely 6'5" in shoes early in day. As for Durant, we have both heard him called 7 foot by a thousand announcers. When they say 7'1", that's too high. He's never 7'1", even in shoes out of bed. But I'd say he is around 7 foot in a taller basketball shoe out of bed. Anyways, I love Hubie Brown and love that he is consistent with using show heights, which is all he has ever really known That's all he saw for over 40 years so I don't blame him for sticking with it. Also, most players despise barefoot listings and he coached players for years and years so he probably prefers to defer to referring to them in a way that they desire.
Jawilder said on 3/Mar/23
Anywhere from 6’2.25-.75 is what Holiday would measure imo. 6’2.5 would be a good listing.
viper said on 2/Mar/23
It looks like Holidays measurement was a mistake?
Canson said on 2/Mar/23
@Jawilder: maybe 6’2.5-6’3” next to Middleton who I can see being 6’6.5ish
Jawilder said on 1/Mar/23

Can’t tell if he pulls off 6’5.75 more than Butler or Lamelo. I’d say they all clear 6’5.5 for the most part
Canson said on 27/Feb/23
@Viper: did you watch the Suns-Bucks yesterday? How many times did Hubie Brown refer to Jrue Holiday as 6’5”? He even said it when Booker shot over him and said a 6’5 guy shooting over another 6’5 guy. This is after he called Booker 6’6” earlier in the game. Brown is always inflating peoples heights. I’ve heard him call Durant 7’0” and 7’1 before I think and Middleton 6’8 yesterday Although he was listed 6’8 before they went to the “unofficial measurements” back a few years ago no pun intended. As for Holiday, 6’3 is generous. I can see 6’2.5-6’2.75 however
Canson said on 25/Feb/23
@Robbe: yea 6’10 or 10.5 for Joker. He’s shorter than Embiid by 1.5” at least
Robbe said on 25/Feb/23
Jokic draft measurement was 6'11 in shoes, and Domantas Sabonis 6'10 in shoes. So they should be around 6'10 and 6'9 without shoes unless they grew, which i doubt. Like i said earlier, Markkanen looked more than just 0.5in taller than Jokic in recent Euro basket tour. More like 3-4cm.

I could't find any draft measurements, with or without shoes for Markkanen, is there? He can look over 6'11 sometimes, like in here with actor Joonas Suotamo, who plays Chewbacca. He is a legit 6'11 guy Click Here

Suotamo is closer to the camera, and yet looks shorter.
Canson said on 23/Feb/23
@Robbe: Markkanen was listed 6’11 previously when they measured barefoot. Leads me to believe Joker is under 6’11 by a hair. Maybe 6’10.5 worst
Robbe said on 21/Feb/23
Sabonis looks the same height as Joker in this newest All Stars team photo Click Here

Sabonis and Markkanen are though most likely closest to the camera there. They look a bit too tall. Markkanen is tallest of them all, but not quite that tall. And Doncic not quite that short. Team photos can be tricky sometimes, as we all know.

@Shane: disregard. What I said on last post. It wouldn’t make a difference with the head tilt
Canson said on 5/Feb/23
@Shane: if Ingram had his head straighter it may just be an inch although I don’t rule out a bit under 6’7 or that Kuzma May he a hair over 6’8 now. Ingram has his head tilted upward whereas if it were straight, it may look different. Kuzma looks a good 6’8 however. He doesn’t look under it so maybe his was afternoon or he gained a fraction if it weren’t

@Canson Kuzma had slightly more than an inch on Imgram there. I still don't see Zion over 6'5 1/2" afternoon at most.
Canson said on 31/Jan/23
@Jawilder: yea Ingram is likely 6’7” flat at his low but if Rob lists him here, he may list him at 6’7.25 to keep consistent with near lunchtime height. I know that he was listed at 6’7” when they first claimed to go to barefoot listings in 2019. Since they usually don’t measure in the afternoon, I doubt he was over 6’7.25 for his measurement and probably not over 6’7 later. Likely chance he was 6’7.25 earlier in the day like Zion was 6’6” or 6’5.75”.

Here is Ingram with 6’8” Kyle Kuzma. Lonzo Ball also doesn’t look 6’4.75” at most he’s 6’4.5”. I really say lonzo’s low is 6’4.25” at most. JT, a poster here, met Lonzo and said that he looked 6’4”. JT is 6’5 himself

If Brandon Ingram is 6’7 then Zion 6’5.5 like Canson said
Canson said on 28/Jan/23
Celebheights6’1.5 thought Ja Morant was 6’2” when he met him. I can see 6’1 at times as well. But I can’t get a good read on his height because I don’t know exactly how tall Zion Williamson is either. I will say Williamson looks near what Rob lists him maybe 6’5.5” instead. I believe Brandon Ingram is 6’7 flat and he’s got about 1.5” on Zion. But Zion can give the appearance he towers Morant because of the favoring camera angles you see in their pics together. I’ll have to see the all star game pics to see if curry and Morant are next to each other. I have curry as 6’1.5” on the nose at his afternoon/evening and I believe CH 6’1.5” did as well. I can compare how curry looks with Jarrett Jack or Steve Blake both of whom I’ve met and the former is maybe a strong 6’2 while the latter is a solid 6’2” both at lows. CH also met Blake and confirmed the same thing 6’2 which is what Blake also measured. The combine measurements must have taken place later in the day the year Blake was drafted.
Cbrady said on 26/Jan/23
Initially I thought Ja Morant was barely even six foot (maybe 182.5 or thereabouts) but after seeing more of him I think he could be 184 range. He ties up his hair which throws me off quite a bit when trying to evaluate his stature.
Jawilder said on 25/Jan/23
I thought Adam Silver (6’3 or a fraction under at worst) had two inches on Morant. I can easily see Morant being a legit 6’1.
Jawilder said on 25/Jan/23

@Robbe: in every pic I see of them, Turner is taller than Sabonis. However, I will say that it’s possible that it’s less difference than it looks. However, the Zach Collins photos are interesting. Collins measured 6’10.25” at the combine
Robbe said on 23/Jan/23
Domantas and Myles looks about the same there Click Here

Myles has higher eyelevel, but Domantas forehead is longer, so they appears pretty much the same height. I've noticed Domantas and his father have both big heads.

I don't think Domantas is under 6'9. His current listing at 7'1 is though laughable. He aint that tall even measured straight out of bed with shoes on.

Canson said on 21/Jan/23
@Shane: yea his 7’0 listing is odd. I’ve always suspected 6’9 with Myles turner. Turner May be a rare exception in that he may have grown since being drafted. Turner was 6’9.75 back then. However if he grew, it’s maybe to 6’10” or maybe that’s just 2 cm or that sabonis is under 6’9” by a hair. Like Robbe said Zach Collins is slouching.

@Robbe: collins is not 6’11”. He measured 6’10.25” at the combine. A lot of guys that measured say 6’7.25 or 6’9.25 and were listed 6’9 or 6’11 before only got reduced an inch and are 6’8 and 6’10 now. Collins May be 6’10 flat to be honest since combine measurements are early in the day

Shane Gray said on 26/Dec/22
@Canson I think you're right on SAS. As for Morant, I'd personally knock a good quarter inch off what you gave Ja at, respectively. I think he might be able to reach 6'1 3/4" out of bed, maybe. I can't see him over 6'1" later in day, though. So I think I might edge him out. Hope you had a good Christmas. Fyi, have you seen how their are lots of roster variations around the league from different sites? I've seen some players listed at three different heights in looking at each team listings between espn, nba, cbs, fox, yahoo, nbc, realgm and basketball reference.
Canson said on 23/Dec/22
@Shane: I’ve always seen SAS listed at 6’1”. At least I thought. Ja Morant May be your height. meaning 6’2 out of bed 6’1.25 at his afternoon. Do you think you would edge him?
Shane Gray said on 21/Dec/22
@Canson maybe Smith is claiming 6'1" now or sometimes. I've heard him also say 6'2" I'm pretty sure. As for Morant, I'd say you're being generous in saying 6'1 1/2 afternoon for Morant. I don't think he's that tall, personally.
Canson said on 17/Dec/22
@Shane: here’s Legler with MJ. Even if MJ is 6’4.75 at his low which I don’t even think Rob believes, legler has to be about 6’3” or so at best
Canson said on 16/Dec/22
@Shane: I thought Stephen A claimed 6’1? As for Legler, he played here in Washington area and I’d estimate him at 6’3” granted I was younger when he played so wasn’t fully grown then. I’d put Morant at 6’1.5 at most at afternoon height
Shane Gray said on 15/Dec/22
@Canson Tim Leglar just called Morant 6'2" but called himself almost 6'5" Clearly, Leglar is giving himself a shoe height as he was listed 6'4" in college and in NBA and almost everyone was shoe heights in NBA when he played. Plus, he never looked 6'5", either. Steven A Also said he might be barely taller than me. Smith claims 6'2" but is clearly shorter than Michael Irvim who is likely around 6'1 1/2" today. Interesting, Grizzlies PR put out a list before season showing him 6'2 1/2" but he's mostly listed 6'2" this year so that had to be a shoe height even if they said it wasn't. So all that said, you saying Morant is about 6'1" barefoot sounds about right to me.
Shane Gray said on 17/Nov/22
@Canson also, in addition to comment I just made below this one, it would be hard to see Zion not compressing quite a bit considering his considerable body weight. Perhaps he is slightly over 6'6" out of bed. That's the most I can fathom though, and I think he dips to that 6'5 1/4" range that you suggested in Last comment.
Shane Gray said on 17/Nov/22
@Canson that seems fair to me.
Canson said on 16/Nov/22
@Shane: he could be something like what Draymond is. 6’6 out of bed and 6’5.25 or maybe he’s 6’6.25 and 6’5.5” and doesn’t lose the full inch
Shane Gray said on 15/Nov/22
@Canson I respectively disagree. He's 6'6" tops out of bed. If he was anywhere near 6'6 1/2" at some point in day he'd be listed 6'7". I see him max 6'5 1/2" afternoon and dipping lower later.
Canson said on 9/Nov/22
@Jawilder: this is a possibility. 6’5.5 is worst case
Jawilder said on 16/Oct/22
He might actually be this listing. I think 6’5.75 is a solid mark for him. Prob 6’6.5 out of bed.
Canson said on 13/Oct/22
@Shane: it’s likely he wasn’t an out of bed measurement though and more like an hour out. Maybe 2 hours. That May put him at 6’6.5 out of bed or 6’6.25 perhaps. I can see something like 6’5.5 for him potentially at his low like Ice said. Maybe 6’5 5/8 at lunch which is similar to where you have him. He’s gotta be at least 3/4” loss imho. I’m 3/4” at 6’4-6’5 range (6’5 out of bed/6’4.25 in the afternoon). I’d be 6’4 3/8 at lunchtime

Canson said on 21/Mar/22
@Jawilder and RVI35: yea 186 is the absolute max and 6’1” flat is another possibility. The NBA should reduce his height listing to 6’2”. 6’2 covers an early morning 6’1.5 or even 6’1 3/8 at a stretch. It also covers 6’1.75 out of bed if he is 6-1 flat. And Curry’s eye level is a bit higher so maybe Morant is 1/4” or 1/2” shorter
Jawilder said on 20/Mar/22
@ rvi35 agree completely
rvi35 said on 20/Mar/22
@Jawilder Camera is closer to young on that pic. If you repair on the eye level, morant is about 0.75-1' taller. With zion he really looked well under 6'1, like 6'0.5. But like i said, he can pull off a solid 6'1 at times like with dray for example. With curry he seemed a solid 6'1 too. U can see It's really close, maybe curry 1/4 or so taller but don't look more than that Click Here Click Here Click Here

At this point I think morant can be anything from 6'0.75 to 6'1.25. 6'1 flat most likely
Canson said on 18/Mar/22
@JaWilder: yea and that’s if Young is really that. He measured 6’0.5 at the combine so may only be 6’0” flat at his afternoon. Then again not sure but Morant really only looks 6’1 with Zion too. Zion could easily look what he’s listed here next to him
Canson said on 17/Mar/22
@Viper: not sure how that happened. They list Curry at 6’2 now so not seeing how Morant maintained 6’3 despite being drafted the same season they switched to supposed barefoot listings. He should be listed no higher than 6’2” imho and that covers him being 6’1 or 6’1.5” being 6’1 flat could still net 6’1.5 early morning and yield a 6’2 listing
Jawilder said on 17/Mar/22
@Canson Look at him with 6’0.25 Trae Young. He’s not over 6’1
viper said on 17/Mar/22
Morant is listed at 6-3

More than likely he's 6-1
Canson said on 16/Mar/22
@Jawilder and rvi35: I see 6’1 in most pics. But not sure he’s under that. I bet if Rob listed him here it would be 6’1.25 or 6’1.5 since he has Draymond 6’5.25 and Zion 6’5.75

With Lillard he can look 186-187 though like Celebheights 6’1.5”. With Zion or Draymond he can look 6’1-6’1.25” imho. 6’1.25 would only be about 1/8” over his lunch at worst or maybe even a lunchtime or afternoon. 6’1.5 is possible (maybe a stretch) for his low too but so is 6’1”. It’s tricky

I’d like to see him with Donovan Mitchell in a good picture. Sometimes he looks taller others shorter or the same

With Zion or Draymond he can look 6’1-6’1.25” imho
Jawilder said on 16/Mar/22
@rvi35 yeah. I’d say he’s a legit 6’1 at a low but nothing over. Like Ronaldo
rvi35 said on 16/Mar/22
@Canson Morant can look a solid 186 sometimes like with draymond Click Here but he does look 6'0.75/6'1 most of the time. He probably measures around 184.5-185 afternoon and 186 earlier in the day
Canson said on 3/Feb/22
@JaWilder: Morant’s height is tricky. Maybe 6’1” flat or 186 cm best case at times but I could see the argument for sub 6’1 too. With Zion I’d definitely say max 6’1”

Man I hope Zion can play again this season to help out the Pels… but I doubt it 😓. Almost think Morant would have been the better pick just because he’s more reliable. Also can’t really tell how tall Morant is, feel like he is 6’1 or a fraction under at worst. But idk really.

Bro I think he's like 6'0.5 at best cuz donovan is taller than him, he's pretty short on the court so this is my guess.

Happy new year.

Zion looks like he gained a lot of weight this past offseason. He is an incredible talent, but carrying over 300 pounds on a 6'5" frame cannot be good for longevity. 6'5.5" and probably 310 pounds imo.
Canson said on 22/Oct/21
@Shane: the NBA cut him back to 6’6 this season too. I bet that was a Stan Van Gundy thing for his one season to make him 6’7”. They kept Ingram at 6’8 but he’s probably that out of bed and probably 6’7.5 after a couple hours to justify it. Zion is likely weak 6’6 afternoon height if he still got the 6’6 listing and still looks 1.5” shorter than Ingram. I think Ingram is a solid 6’7” guy afternoon/evening. That’s what they had him listed in 2019 and what he looks next to LeBron. They look the same honestly
Canson said on 22/Oct/21
@Shane: he can look 6’5.5”. But to be fair to Rob, he can look a bit taller than Draymond
Jawilder said on 21/Oct/21
Zion is anywhere in the 6’5.25-6’5.5” range.
Shane said on 19/Oct/21
@Rob when did Zion go up to 6'5 3/4"? I have much respect for you, but that is absolutely insane. 6'5 3/4" barefoot for Zion in afternoon? Lol! He's nowhere near that. This is off by a half inch at least.
Editor Rob
been on that mark a good while.
Canson said on 15/Oct/21
@Jawilder: I agree with everything you said! Gentry has been a decent coach overall too. He’s never really had the support and has had some younger teams. He did well in Phoenix when he took the team over from Dantoni

@Canson Gentry was very nice! We both had similar tee times, so I saw him in the pro shop and introduced myself. He had his son with him so I didn’t bother him too much lol. I figured he would be a lot shorter in person for some reason but he’s a pretty tall/ built guy. I’m 6 ft 5/8 at a low. He might have had a fraction on me at best. Prob a 6’0.75-6’1 guy if I had to guess. I was looking at older photos of him and he looked like a 6’2 range guy like you said 👍
Canson said on 4/Oct/21
@Recapa: lol he did on the game show. Funny part is I’ll bet you he’s not even 6’7 in shoes out of bed and may not even be roundable to it. He may have just been a 6’5 out of bed with 6’6.25 in a basketball sneaker like I am when I wake up. Meaning 6’4.25 in the afternoon
Canson said on 2/Oct/21
@JaWilder: you met Gentry? Nice! How was he in person?
Funny part is that Gentry was honest about Draymond’s height when he was with Golden State. He said Draymond is closer to 6’5 than 6’6 lol. I wonder how tall Gentry is too. Wonder if maybe he was that random 6’2 range guy that shrunk to 6’1 but used to claim 6’4 😂. Lonzo definitely doesn’t look over 6’4.5” to me if even that high. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a weak half or 6’4.25 afternoon height like I am. Zion can look 6’5.5” or so so Rob doesn’t have him too far off imho but if Ingram is 6’6.75 that’s bad news for Zion and Lonzo like Recapa said 😂. and you make a good point that he can look 3cm shorter than Kuzma. May be safe to say Kuzma is likely the full 6’8” like you said
Jawilder said on 1/Oct/21
@Canson Lonzo is like 6’4.5”. Did he actually claim 6’7? 🤦‍♂️.

Random... but I met Alvin Gentry, and when I shook hands with him, I thought he was eye level with me. Definitely within a fraction of me. I saw after he was listed at 6’4 🤣. He’s prob 6’0.75-6’1 if I had to guess

Canson said on 28/Sep/21
@JAWilder: Ingram is a tough one. He’s very lanky but honestly he can look taller than LeBron at times but maybe shorter than Tatum. I can’t tell if he’s slouching there though. The one who looks every bit of his pre draft measurement is Kuzma. He looks like he’s 6’8” or at worst if he somehow is below that it’s 6’7 3/4” but 6’8 looks about right for him next to Anthony Davis or the other 6’7 guys next to him in that pic
recapa said on 27/Sep/21
@Jawlider,if thats the case than its bad news for zion and lonzo.
Canson said on 27/Sep/21
@Recapa: he was listed 6’7” in 2019. He got the Kuzma treatment because they had Lonzo and Zion listed at 6’6. They had to figure that situation out lol 😂. They bumped Ingram to 6’8 in 2020 and Zion to 6’7”. BI May be 6’7 flat and LeBron could be a whisker taller at 6’7 1/8-1/4” or they could be identical. But having gotten the 6’7 listing before i wonder if he was just a solid 6’7” afternoon height

Canson said on 20/Sep/21
@Bagheera: you said that Ingram was 201 cm (he was also measured 6’7” in 2019) so you’re correct. Funny that you told Recapa and me that we pick and choose what’s convenient for us when you use Kuzma’s 6’10 listing (not even a true measurement) but still have Ingram (a true 6’7) at 6’7 when the Pelicans upgraded him to 6’8”. But yes he’s 6’7. They wouldn’t list him at that initially if he weren’t. And he’s not as tall as Kuzma who is 6’8”. They did the same thing to him as the lakers did to Kuzma. They made Ingram 6’8 to accommodate the listing for Lonzo Ball and Zion. Zion was listed 6’6 and measured 6’6 when he came into the league likely that it was earlier in the day because it’s believable that he’s a weak 6’6” guy. He’s also taller than Lonzo who was also listed 6’6 throughout his career and never got reduced which is why Zion was inflated. They no longer measure barefoot. That was for that one season. So you wonder why we think you’re full of it? Why wouldn’t they manipulate LeBron’s 6’8.5 listing but not Lonzo’s? Lonzo is clearly not 6’6” and everyone knows that.

How is Zion 198-199?

That’s at minimum a 1.5” difference. So if Ingram is 201 it makes Zion 197 range max

Canson said on 13/Apr/21
@Duhon: if he is, definitely. I could see him a hair under the mark some pics but not others. I’d have said Zion was min 6’5.5” seeing him with some players now that I’ve seen him on the court. Meaning afternoon height so not far off the 6’5.75” mark he’s listed here. Could even be 6’6 if everything aligns with the pic but then it means Brandon Ingram is 6’7.5 when he’s and he’s an inch shorter than 6’8” Kyle Kuzma.

Ingram 6’7”
Zion 6’5.5 to .75”
Lonzo 6’4.25
Holiday 6’2.5-75 (6’3.25 pre draft but could have been 6’3 1/8” rounded up)

I’ll admit I had Zion too low. He’s not below 6’5.5” today. 6’6 was likely a morning measurement and may even be 6’5.75” like Rob lists him. I would say if either of them looked taller between he and Draymond that it’s Zion. Taller would mean by a small fraction

Canson said on 2/Feb/21
@Shane: that’s likely what it was with SVG as a head coach. I do wonder if Ingram wanted it? He’s thin for his height (weightwise). I figured he should’ve gotten 6’8 last season being he’d not be less than a flat 6’7” in the afternoon/evening. I’ve had him as a solid 6’7” guy since I saw the measurement. Similar to Lebron but I could see Lebron dipping below (maybe) but not so much for Ingram. I assumed Ingram wanted a 6’7 listing. As for Zion not so much. He probably would want to be listed taller due to his weight and the hype surrounding him. I think they bumped both up either to accommodate Zion or maybe Lonzo Ball since he’s still listed 6’6” which is a joke. Then you have Hart at 6’5”. They add up given the circumstances (Hart is probably either strong 6’3 or weak 6’4) guy and should be listed 6’4 under a true measurement just as Lonzo would be listed 6’5”. Lol if I were getting one of those measurements barefoot I’d either have a 6’4 or 6’5 listing (most likely the latter if they measure earlier in the day). But I’d be fine being listed 6’4” being it’s the height I’ve claimed for the longest apart from 6’4.5 a while back. I’ve never been into the shoe claim and never realized it varied like it does until 5 years ago
Canson said on 30/Jan/21
@Shane Gray: I’ll admit Zion’s height is a bit tricky. He looks similar to Draymond but not sure. I know Dan Patrick said he’s maybe 6’6” when he met him but I don’t trust Patrick much being he makes Durant and Walton over 7’0” when they aren’t. I agree he’s over listed. I could go with 6’5.5” but no higher
Shane Gray said on 29/Jan/21

I can see Morant being that (maybe). I would’ve thought Morant at least 6’1” but not now. He’s too small next to Zion who in reality is probably no more than maybe 6’5.5” (best case) 6’6 morning. Chris Paul is another. I can’t see 5’11.75 as an afternoon height

Hi Rob, what do you think of Ja Morant's height? For some reason his barefoot height or even height with shoes in the 2019 draft measurement is listed at "N/A" but has listed height at 6'3.

With 6'6 Zion

With 6'2 1/2 Westbrook

With 6'1 listed height Mike Conley whose barefoot height was recorded at anywhere from 5 ft 11 to 5'11 3 quarters in 2007 NBA draft

Zion is listed at 6'6 too in NBA profile and Morant at 6'3, but come on, is that 3 inches difference? more like at least 5 inches.

Ja's only around 6'1 with shoes Mike Conley, whose barefoot height is 5'11 to 5'11 3/4 yet NBA has him at 6'3 where you can see he's clearly shorter than 6'3 listed Westbrook by at least 2 inches?

Which explain NBA is still a joke when it comes to players height even after the so called 2019 height update.

@Editor Rob: how much do you see between Brandon Ingram (#14) and Zion? Ingram is listed 6’7” under new rules. I’m fairness Ingram is one of the most legit 6’7” guys I’ve seen. He looks a strong 6’7” guy at a low and Zion could be a strong 6’5 as opposed to 6’5.75”

At first I'd have guessed 1.5 range, without knowing if their sneakers are the same.

Rob, you should change the text. He plays for The Pelicans currently.

About his height, I would give him 6'5.5

I really can't see 6 or 7 cm difference between Zion and the commissioner Rob.....how tall do you think Zion is ?? And why is there no page for Adam Silver ?? How tall do you think Adam Silver is ?? I think he's 6-3 barefoot spot on
Canson said on 7/Mar/20
@Viper: it’s reported that they actually did measure Zion at 6’6” at training camp this year. Maybe it was slight rounding but likely he would get Around that early in the morning albeit maybe out of bed seeing as how he looks close to 2” shorter than Brandon Ingram. Maybe Rob should lower him to 6’5.5” to balance it out.

Zion with 6-10 Jaxson Hayes

@Viper: Hayes is probably even 6’9.75 with a 6’10.25 morning measurement
Kesslar said on 28/Feb/20
In Google it says he’s 6 foot six and it says he’s 6’5 here and it just said that he was 6 foot seven in college what he do SHRINK
Canson said on 19/Feb/20
I wonder how tall Ja Morant really is. Even if Zion May have grown to what he’s listed here he towers over Morant too much for Morant to be more than about 6’1” maybe (accounting for everything)

Zion needs to be lowered to 6-5.25

I like Shane’s idea. Let the measurements take place and do so to 1/16” and add a standard 1.25” for shoes which should be regulated of course. Time of day is also important
Canson said on 10/Dec/19
@Viper: either one of two things. A. His combine was rounded up and it was early morning or B it was maybe a bit later and possibly even 6’2 5/8 or a hair over 1/2” rounded up
Canson said on 8/Dec/19
@Viper: he measured 6’9” at the combine but I believe he’s 6’8.5 afternoon height. He measured 6’8.5 back in 2012 and 6’9 later. Likely morning height
viper said on 7/Dec/19
I didnt know the G league measured in 2017

Dez Wells measured 6-2.75. He measured 6-3 at the NBA combine.

viper said on 7/Dec/19
Wow, I was just looking through G league measurements and Stone measured there at 6-9.5

Could have been 6-9 3/8 rounded up. That makes him 6-9 and not 6-8.5
viper said on 6/Dec/19
They list Zion at 284.

Makes you think it's an exact weight
Canson said on 5/Dec/19
@Viper: that’s probably right. Stone was 6’9 at the combine that year and it was held early morning. Melo Trimble has the exact same measurement 2 years in a row
viper said on 5/Dec/19
6-8.5 Diamond Stone measuring 7-0 in shoes shows what a joke basketball measuring can be.

Elite 2015 big man Diamond Stone measured in at 7'0 in shoes with a 246-pound frame and a solid, but not spectacular 7'3.5 wingspan. Though he has a shorter Standing Reach, Stone is almost exactly the same size as Karl Towns was when he was measured at the Nike Hoop Summit this spring, considering Stone measured 6'10 in shoes around the same weight last summer, it will be interesting to see how he measures out on the All-Star circuit eight months from now.
Brandon 6'0" | 182.88 cm said on 28/Nov/19
6'5" 270 lbs. Height and weight are both overlisted.
Canson said on 16/Nov/19
@Viper: for a 6’5 guy yes
viper said on 27/Oct/19
IMO he's gonna have a short career being that heavy.
viper said on 26/Oct/19
Zion listed at 284 pounds.

Maybe he really is that.

More believable to me than his ridiculous 6-6 listing
Canson said on 24/Oct/19
@Viper: reddish measured 6’7.5 well supposedly. I don’t know if that’s true. I think he’s maybe 198-199 Melo’s height. A stretch would be his draft height 6’6.5 if that’s afternoon
viper said on 23/Oct/19
Cam Reddish listed at 6-8 when he measured 6-6.5, lol
MD said on 21/Oct/19
Not it isn't "amazing."
Canson said on 20/Oct/19
@Nik: that’s his listing but they often overlist by a couple inches in college. The NBA players are even listed around 2” taller than they measure in the afternoon. A lot of guys get 6’5.75 early morning and are really 6’5-6’5.25 and listed at 6’7”
Nik Ashton said on 19/Oct/19
It’s amazing he was listed as 6’7” at college!
Canson said on 14/Oct/19
@Viper: it’s less of a lie than Curry. Curry if you met him would be considerably shorter. Closer to what you guessed Merriman. Zion at least may be 6’6” out of bed. Very good chance at that. Mike Greenberg said it below and Jackson, a poster here, said his 6’2.5 friend has met Curry and was an inch shorter which correlates to what Greenberg said 6’1.5”. 6’2.75 is to keep him at 6’3”.

Yeah but the NFL as a whole is wayyyyyy more legit than all the frauds all over the NBA.

Not even close

The NFL is also way more precise with their measurements.

Why the NBA isn't like the NFL I have no idea. You would think a pro basketball league would be even more so since height is looked at more in basketball than football

@Viper: not really. Kyler Murray and Merriman and others get boosted too. Chris Cooley even said the nfl is screwed up with theirs. What they need both leagues is officiating

Well yeah of course.

The NFL isn't THIS shady though.

Most of the combine, senior bowl, pro day measurements are legit measurements

Only the Sixers have given out REAL measurements.

So the rest should be taken with a grain of salt.

So much for transparency from the NBA!!

@Viper: we really can’t say the Sixers gave out “real measurements”. They just made them look real by throwing fractions in front of some. There’s no guarantee someone like Tobias Harris grew 1” since being drafted although he can look it. He did look taller than Butler but not by a lot. Maybe 1.5”. I could believe more 6’6.5 or 6’7 morning for him. Now I can believe Al Horford because he’s 6’8.75 before so that would be a morning height for him most likely. Maybe he’s 6’8.5 at an afternoon height. He doesn’t look less than that. Ben Simmons I would’ve sworn would be upper 6’8” range maybe 6’9” morning. Maybe he’s really 6’9.25 and was rounded up to .5 to keep 6’10”. Ben looks 6’8.5-.75 really
Canson said on 10/Oct/19
@Shane and Viper: from what I saw it said he measured exactly 6’6” but you’re right that may be rounded up.

And @Shane: you took the words right out of my mouth. The nba forced this so I’m sure a bunch of teams aren’t really in the mood to cooperate with them fully being they were told to tinker with their listings lol. I just wish they had someone their to officiate
Canson said on 10/Oct/19
@Viper: it did say exactly 6’6” to Zion: he does have thick hair and it was in the AM so I don’t rule that number out. I think if anything the 6’5.5 is fine
Shane Gray said on 10/Oct/19
@viper: NFL has some boosted listings too (please see my long comment to you below)

@viper I will get you the tweet from the knicks guy. And please see my long post to you below.

@Canson where was it said he measured full 6'6"? That's hard to believe. Nba told them nearest inch is fine. And please see my long post to you below with info on Reddish (lol) and much more on this policy!

Hell, for all we know he didn't even measure.

If he did it was 6-5.5

He didn't measure 6-6

I respect the NFL a trillion times more after this
viper said on 10/Oct/19
Could you link where the Knicks reporter says that
Canson said on 9/Oct/19
@Viper: they claim it was a solid 6’6”. You want my estimate he was 6’6 or a little over out of bed and 6’5.75 when measured and is 6’5.25 tops. Remember his hair is thick too. He can look taller than Draymond Green in terms of appearance but with other guys he looks around 6’5”
Shane Gray said on 9/Oct/19
@Canson Cam Reddish is up an inch from his combine to 6'7 1/2". Nba said they can round to nearest inch so yep he is right back to his 6'8" listingm Lol. I see people all over up 1.5 to 2 inches over combine. This is a total farce as I expected and heres why.

Nba forced this policy on teams and players. Neither teams nor players wanted it. But then they let teams self report the heights. And as expected with that considered we are getting tons of heights well over combine from some teams and a mamixing in of others that are still shoe heights as Knicks reporter even tweeted.

Some teams may be more honest than others but overall it's going to be a mess. Two reporters have said kings told them their roster is up to date and they disnt change a single thing from last year and I dont blame them. It's their roster and they should be able to deal with it as they see fit.

Heres the other issue I have and my suggested solution:

Issues are all over as casual fans how think all players were lying avout height which isnt true. Just a different standard before: shoes

Another issue is tons of fans how think the guys from 80s 90s and 2000s were taller not knowing those guys were shoe heights. So it's making historical comparisons confusing and hard for people.

Finally now instead of just knowing we had show heights we have a bunch of fake barefoot heights for too many guys or mass roundups of everything half inch or up and likely anything close to that if player and or team wants it to be rounded up.

So heres my common sense suggestion for a solution to make everyone happy and keep some perspective with past measurements:

Nba measure every player down to sixteenth of an inch and let it be known that was done and then instead of adding some random number to that for listing like it was in past, add a standard of 1.25 (or 1.5) to account for an average shoe plus orthotic. What do u think of that idea?
Shane Gray said on 9/Oct/19
@Viper Hawks put Reddish down at 6'7 1/2" lol after measuring inch shorter at combine. So they will then round back up to 6'8" which was his original listing
Its ridiculous and far more dishonest and confusing than before when we just knew it was shoe heights. Now we are getting a bunch of fake listings that are supposed to be barefoot and many arent. Its a joke.

Nba forced this policy on teams and players. They didn't want it. Then they let teams self report. Lol. And then they told them they can round to nearest inch so even the ones who may be honest are rounding 5'11 1/2" up to 6 foot and Etc.

Better chance we all marry Victoria Secret models than him being 6-6.

He measured 6-5.5 basically out of bed.

He's nothing more than flat 6-5
