Assumption = this height gauge was in fact generous =as I said recently I imagine if some of this bodybuilders were measured on this height gauge,even if the result was half an inch under their official height,by considering some of this bodybuilders had apparently their official height generally easily more generous than only half an inch then they were still happy with the measurement on this height gauge.

Click Here @ Pieree,what about this pic of Clint with Sly and Oliver Stone,Clint standing straight looks an easy 6ft2 in comparison,in fact you could even argue 6ft2.75 for Clint.Clint can drop a lot of height depending on posture,also sly probly had a bit of a boost in his shoes.As for Arnold he was probly 6 ft.75 peak and 6ft2 or a bit more depending what footwear he was wearing.Bridges height is inconsistent I'm not sure about him.

Arnold did look 6'1.5" enough for me to believe Basille measured him at that, but there are other times when he didn't look taller than 6'1" flat. It's plausible he was more like 186 cm peak and wasn't at his low during the measurement despite it being in the evening or there was a small margin of error. I'd be surprised if he wasn't still at least a full 5'11", though.

What you guys think about 178cm peak?, wich I read he was measured at in the army in Austria. And 176cm today?. My grandfather is 85yo he is today 177cm and was peak 179cm. He also whey about 200lbs so he has not shrank so much.

Sincerely (considering he was usual to wear thick shoes or boots) he looked to me a strong 6’1/185cm guy, but according to rob we cannot consider the letter written by Vince Basile which stated he was measured at 6’1.5/187cm in 1969. We need however to consider that Basile is a friend of Arnie and I think Arnie usually got hungry if people though he was short so I can even think the letter is a sort of present from Vince to his friend Arnie...today no doubt he’s max 5’11/180cm...

186 187 cm is the perfect guess, you are tall but not so tall that you always look towering. You can often find people taller or on par with you but most of the times you are the taller one. Because of the footwear you can look the same height of people who are 183 to 185 cm

I just dont belevie he shrank almost 7cm wich is more then 2,5 inch. That just sounds way to much especially for his height and he dont have that bad posture either. I think he was 6foot max peak(maybe only 178cm today. And if you look at bmi it just dont make sense he was ever over 6foot and that big at only about 105kg.

Arnie's peak height was a strong 6'1" but is barely 6' these days. He edged Carl Weathers in Predator but is slightly shorter than him today, of course movies aren't always an accurate interpretation of a persons height what with lifts etc but he was certainly over 6' during his prime..

Was watching jingle all the way recently and looking at Arnold its difficult to really tell. A guy 6'0-6'1 can definitely look 6'2 om film. I believe Arnold was definitely over 6'0 back then but certainly not 6'2. 6'1 i still believe is possible but not over that.

@Rob. How tall do you think a peak Arnie could get on the stadiometer at midday and night. Just curious you guess and what's the lowest you buy? If you see this photo Arnold is closer to the camera and he is clearly shorter than both Michael Biehn and Patrik. But Arnold is aging better than them.

Editor RobHis peak was supposed to be a measured 6ft 1.5, but it is not a certainty, 6ft 1.25 would also be something he might have measured. 6ft 2 seems hard to imagine him measuring during the day in the 70's.

@pierre.there is one thing I admired about the late Burt Reynolds was his honesty,he never hid the fact he wore lifts.Arnold and Pitt are not so honest,with a decent pair of shoes or boots,its easy for a 6ft.5 guy to pull off being 6ft2,or a 5ft10.75 guy to pull off being a 6 footer.

I think Calum is right about where Rob has him. His boots made it hard to tell but he was definitely a large guy. I think I might have been slightly taller than him and he was likely slightly taller than a prime Arnold. I met them both the same day actually which was pretty cool.

Look at Jeff Bridges next to 6'2 Tron (Bruce Boxleitner). For some reason in photos he looks barely 6'0 and in others 6,1.5.
If he and Arnold stood back to back barefoot Schwarzenegger would look at most half an inch shorter.
