He could’ve been a full 6’1” in 2008 when he came into office but when athletes had championship visits he didn’t look that tall. He likely has lost a fraction from his peak and is a weak 6’1” today

Thoughts on what Bernie Sanders' height? My guess is that, these days, at worst he's a strong 5'10", and was likely, with good posture rather than his frequent hunch, was 6'0" easily in his peak.

I’ve been watching the democratic debates the past couple of months and I think Beto is minimum 6’3” if not more since he does tower over many of the candidates on stage.
The really tall politician was actually NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio who is listed at 6’5” and I find that credible from how he looks compared to everyone on stage. He would definitely beat Lincoln’s record for tallest American President, but he’s polling really low.
The candidates who will probably win the nominee are Biden, Sanders, and Warren. I saw Sanders last month give a speech on Medicare for All in DC in July 2019 and he honestly looked more average than anything. I’d guess him to be 5’10 1/2” now and he probably had a peak of 6 ft when he was younger. Next to Obama in photos I’ve seen, Sanders looked two or three inches shorter than him, so I can’t see him over 5’11”. Biden is probably a weak 5’11” now and he might’ve had a peak of 6 ft when he was younger too. Editor RobIt is unknown if that meant they took his weight in clothes, but for a measurement took off his shoes. It was never unclear, the following medical a couple of years later they put down 6ft 1.5!

The fact he is just about looking a flat 6'1 in photos these days implies a genuine possibility of him at 6'0.75 range. I still think a 6'1 listing is fine for him currently.

I don't think that the majority of people wear lifts, but quite a few wear orthotics or gel insoles which might increase up to about 1/2" of height depending on the type. Lifts that give under 1" are pretty hard to detect.

I believe that Obama will measure a 6'2" out of bed, and his measurement of 6'1.5" could simply be a measurement at an earlier time of the day (for example at lunchtime, as it may have been with the measurements of Bush). I would say he is 6'1" at his lowest. He doesn't look much taller than Trump when they are in photos together, but Trump has been known to wear lifts. Otherwise, I would say there is nearly an inch between them.

MJKoP , it actually is a funny story and it's the reason I find out that my true height was only 5'4 1/2 at age 14. It's also when my interest in height really started to kick off.
story goes , I had just made 14 as it was summer , most likely maybe even just shy of 14 . Well I didn't know exactly how tall I was , I remember at 12 going on 13 I was told I was 5'4 ( don't remember exactly how I was measured ) and well I did assume I might have gotten taller , like 5'5 minimum or so.
Well I just happened to go to a pediatrician because it was like 6 months or a year at least and so I got there , they weighed me( Maybe 150 ish then ) and they told me to " Stand agianst the chart " ... Normally they measure and weigh people with clothes and shoes, and in the case of height they discount 2 centimetres or an inch, example (measured at 6'2 so they write down 6'1), I know of people measure this way at the doctor and medical tests

Look, if Obama was measured in the morning at 6 ft. 1/2” then he can’t sink anywhere below the 6 ft. 1” mark in the evening. That’s probably where that 6 ft. 1/2” measurement comes from, it was probably a morning height, but I just don’t see how he could ever get as low as 6 ft. 0.75” or lower.

Editor Rob if the person is in front of a height chart, usually if you see their eyes looking at the camera, you'll be able to tell if the camera is above or below their eyelevel. If it's above a bit, then the mugshot might be more accurate than if the camera was at the eyes or below the eyes...in those cases, it might add 1/2 inch or even 2-3 inches!
Some celebs do agree to go along and have measurements taken, but I'm not sure they use a stadiometer, more a rough 'ruler on top of head beside tape measure' type measurement. In some case an actor won't agree, so they have to guess the height like us.
Also for a waxwork, the height might be taken in a pose that isn't standing military posture, so the waxwork itself might not be that accurate - they made the Mesut Ozil waxwork about 5ft 8, he lost some height in a slightly loose pose.
