Good to see that Editor Rob pulled the metaphorical trigger (befitting smoking-gun pics), delivering a reasonable and requisite downgrade for The Hitman. I fear for other wrestlers who might suffer the wrath of Rob's diligent downgrading...

@Rob

Feel free to give us some clues as to any potential future victims...

It is a large site with a lot of maintenance.

Dude.... Bret Hart looks 5'8" at best in those pics. Maybe Sotiris is right and 5'10" is the most he could be today. We can't just ignore evidence and pretend it doesn't exist.

Bret Hart is 100% max 5'10" now and was NEVER 6'0". Let me guess, Editor Rob STILL won't downgrade him, lol... Don't worry, fanboys, Bret Hart can still be whatever height you wish him to be, all it takes is a vivid imagination and a detachment from reality.

THE NASTY DOWNGRADER STRIKES AGAIN!

Poster Joeyb33 (claims 6'2.25") w/ Cody Rhodes... Click Here Joey said they were both in boots and that Cody looked under 6'0", definitely not Editor Rob's listing of 6'0.75.

Now, here's Bret Hart w/ Cody ... Click Here This was from 2010, only 2 years after Editor Rob's photo, wherein Bret had a 1/3 inch thicker shoe.

Somebody forgot to remind Bret to wear his lifts.

So, 6'0" for Bret Hart...? That would be a resounding not a chance in hell.

He's MAX 5'10" today; peak height of 5'11".

And no, I'm not wrong. I'm never wrong -- about anything. Ever. Kidding :)

I can buy 6'0" for Bret but nowadays only in shoes.

@Sotiris Gravas The picture of Kane and Vince Vaughn serves no height justice. The ground could be uneven and Vaughn looks like he is on his tippy toes too. Kane is leaning backwards as well. Those are 3 factors that excludes that photo from any argument regarding Kanes' height. As someone who has been height obsessed since the day I was born, I've learned that not every body can go by pictures when judging height. You have to meet some people. For example, someone like the Great Khali has problems with his legs that make it so he can't really stand straight and tall in pictures with fans and other celebs which make him appear shorter. I met Khali and he was definitely 7'0" but not taller. I'm just using an example. You look at a lot of people from what I've noticed and you usually estimate them at the lower side of the scale, if that makes sense. Pay more attention to posture and head tilt in photos, because I observed that it definitely throws you off into thinking than people, such as Kane, are shorter than they really are. Don't you find it interesting that everybody who met Kane during his full time run estimated him at around 6'7"-6-8"? I wonder why nobody slipped up and said 6'5".. Maybe because he just simply isn't that short. No 6'5" man will ever get billed at 7'0" anyway, that's ridiculous.
Dan Trojan said on 30/May/19
He is at least 5'11" i'm leaning more towards 5'11.5" like i said before i met him i'm 5'6" and he was more than 4 inches taller than me i know what 5'10" looks like and he was most certainly taller than that tell me i'm lying go ahead i know what i saw

A poster (who happens to have the same first name as you, how convenient) supposedly said that his dad said that Big Show was 6'8 and Taker 6'5...
Yeah sure buddy... what a reliable source...
In french we have a saying perfectly fitting for that saying " The man who saw the man who saw the man who saw the bear " meaning the bear is actually in fact, never seen.

Sorry but you just lost any credibility ( if you ever had any to begin with ), way too many people met those two to refute such low claims.
6'5 prime taker is ridiculous at best, and 6'8 Big Show just beyond ludicrous. ( especially in his early career where he looked taller than 7ft when he was "lighter" around 375-380lbs, was billed at 7'1 by Wichita State btw )

I’m not a joke, I’m just somebody who would like to know the actual heights if these guys.
For some reason you want to make everyone smaller than they are and you seem slightly obsessed with it.
I’d go with Rob (who’s met Bret) on this. And guess what I’ve met Bret too.
Perhaps you should attend a convention and meet some of these guys. It may open your eyes.
For the taller guys 6’6 Ali Baba is a great gauge.
Editor Rob

The thing is, I saw them early in the morning (I think) so I was closer to 6'7.5", making them look even shorter.

Supposedly, fellow poster Danimal met Bret Hart in 2001 and says that he was only 5'10"... and says that having met Owen, he was only 5'9". Make of that what you will.

@Ben Bell What I don't appreciate is guys like you and your ilk trolling me as if you know me. So, you've met ppl in person. So have I. So what? Chuck Wepner fought Andre the Giant and insisted he was only 6'9". Chet Coppock (R.I.P.) who was maybe 6'5" and claimed 6'6" stood beside Andre and said he was only 3" taller than him. Both these guys said 6'9", yet Editor Rob and everyone and their mother insist he was at least 7'0" peak height. Another poster, Sotirios Chatzi, said that his dad worked in the wrestling industry and maintained the belief that Big Show was only 6'8" and Undertaker was only 6'5" w/o lifts. Ppl get height wrong all the time. You meet someone for all of 30 seconds for a photo and what, that supposedly qualifies you as a height expert? Get over yourself, pal. Rob meets ppl and posts the pics here. Is there a universal consensus as to gauging height as a result...? Of course not. There's always someone w/ a footwear advantage or better posture to throw things off. Not to mention bad camera angles and height loss throughout the day.

I post photos that I find. If there's a photo of someone looking taller, I'll post it, I don't suppress it like I have some kind of sinister agenda. I will suppress my anger, though, and refrain from telling you what I really think of guys w/ a prissy little attitude who call me out.

What I'm glad about is that there are ppl like me to put obnoxious ppl like you in their place. Perhaps the rarefied air you breathe in from your lofty ivory tower resulting in cerebral hypoxia is to blame. Either way, it's time to come down a peg or two. Maybe four. I don't suffer fools gladly, especially would-be trolls who hide behind a thin veneer of probity.

I trust we've come to an understanding, then, Ben.

Ben Bell said on 30/Apr/19
@Sotoris
You just search out photos of people looking short and you downgrade everyone even though you’ve never met any of them.
Personally me this site is about the truth not just trolling, I’m interested in how tall these people actually are and I have to say Rob is incredibly accurate with his listings. Everyone he’s met that I’ve also met I’d agree with to within 0.5”.
This week standing right next to Bret I’d say 5’11.5. 6ft if he stood straight.
Most wrestlers have truly abysmal posture so often look shorter. Also broad shoulders and wide physiques don’t do anyone any favours when it comes to looking tall.
I’m glad this site has other posters who are informative and who take the time to post balanced pictures.

I met Martel at wrestleslam in 07 and I was shocked he was at lowest 5'11. Nearer 6ft. I expected him to be shorter.
Same day I met the mountie and Tito Santana who were both 6ft.
Not everyone was taller than expected. Piper 5'9, Anvil 5'11, Valentine 5'11.
I'm never sure about Hennig. I know he's known fror standing on his tip toes. Perhaps 6'2 peak barefoot, Martel maybe never shrunk and has always been mid 5'11. Giving Hennig 2.5"+ tip toes or thicker soles.... Who knows, I never met Hennig.

From the late 1980s to the early 1990s, Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine repeatedly listed Bret Hart’s height as 5’11”. While WWF trading cards, and Nintendo games listed his height as 6’0”. Around 1994, the WWF began listing Bret Hart as 6’1”, which was incorrect. Bret’s peak height was probably no more than 5’11.5” (182cm). Today, he’s close to 5’10.5”.

First thing first. I don't want to be political on here, this is not a place for that. Bret Hart is 5'10, now. I don't know his prime but judging from old pictures probably 5'11. Second, you know how many years I hear The United States is the greatest country in the world! Every where from every American. So your saying it's okay for America to say that? But not other countries just as great? You know how overwhelming powerful that Iran would be if it was the size of the U.S? It's already incredibly strong. It would make America look like a 747 powered by double A batteries. So yes, I love my country and it's people and history. So I say again best country in the world.

He wore cowboy boots in a segment with McMahon and the Nasty Boys. McMahon still edged out Bret despite Bret being in 2 inch heels

__________________

I've seen that segment several times, and if anything, Bret was slightly taller than Vince. Bret's heels were pretty modest as far as cowboy boots go. Maybe 1.5" tops that he was getting. Vince was in big basketball sneakers, so I'm sure he was getting at least 1" from those. I'll even post the clip again and point out the best times to compare them.

Look at 22 sec, 26 sec, 49 sec, 2:02, 2:16, 2:39

At every one of those points, Bret is either the same height or taller than Vince. Do not be fooled by Vince's poofy hair. Also, Bret has a bigger head and lower shoulder level, which gives the illusion on McMahon being taller. But, both men were about 6'. Bret still looks about 6' next to Rob if he stood to his full height.

Rob said (on HBK's page) that if the top of one's head reaches the brow region, then that's more like a 4 inch difference. That would put Owen Hart at a solid 5'8" assuming Bret is 6 feet even. It's possible Owen is taller than Rob, but I think the difference would be so little that it would be hard to tell. I'd put Owen at 5'8"-5'8.5" but not 5'9". Owen looks too small to be 5'9 in my eyes. Max I'd give Owen on a good day would be 174.5 cm.

I used to work at a gym in Florida and Exotic Adrian Street and his wife Miss Linda worked out there, and Adrian SWORE to me that Bret was 5'8" and wore lifts. I didn't believe him until I met Jim Neidhart at a strip club one night after Nitro. Neidart stood straight up, face to face with me and was the exact same height as me, and I'm 5'9". I looked at many pictures of The Hart Foundation after that and saw that Bret and Jim were usually always the same height, but sometimes Bret was a hair taller and sometimes a hair shorter. I also met Ric Flair once and I'd have to guess Ric at about the 5'10.5 mark in 1997 and when Bret and Ric feuded for a few months, they would get face to face in the ring and Bret's height fluctuated tremendously between their meetings. One time Bret was like an inch shorter than Ric, the next time he was the same height as Ric, and the last time Bret was taller than Ric. So I'm not sure how tall he really is, because Adrian Street told me Bret wears lifts in his tennis shoes/trainers as well. So who knows?

Hey there Rob- resurfacing again for this one post. I got a few photos at London WrestleCon last weekend that I'm going to share on a (partially related) quiet page so I don't get swamped with abuse afterwards.

Here they are:

I was wearing Converse All-Stars that weekend so (apart from JR, whose sneakers looked about the same as mine) everyone had a footwear advantage. Bret was wearing what looked like New Balance, so maybe 1/2 inch more? Shawn was wearing cowboy boots as per- though they didn't look as thick as your usual cowboys- looked somewhat like this (Click Here) I reckon they'd still give near 1.5 inches though? Trish was wearing roughly three-inch heels (I saw her standing next to Lita who was in Converse and she only looked slightly taller) so about 2.5 inches advantage. With the NOD- D'Lo was wearing similar trainers to Bret so about half an inch more (bear in mind he's also nearer the camera there) Ron Simmons was wearing Cuban heels- 1 inch advantage (I'd therefore estimate him in 6'0.5-6'1 range, he may have lost a fraction by now) As for Charles Wright I didn't get a good look at his footwear but he gave off a 6'4 impression.

Hope they help at least- you've met Bret yourself and believed he still looked about 6ft in 2008. Even if he has lost a full inch by now (doubtful) he still isn't any taller than me in spite of his slight footwear advantage- plus Shawn is still edged out by me despite having roughly an inch thicker shoes.

One last thing- hope you're bracing yourself for LFCC this year, as based on the dense and impressive lineup so far I've estimated you'll be getting about 25+ photos for the site (assuming you want to meet everyone you haven't already and who's worth getting a shot with) I forecast your knees and your wallet undergoing an exercise in suffering that weekend. With the star power of many of them though I'm sure it'll no doubt be worth the investment in the end...
[Editor Rob: it's good you managed to get them standing and you seem like you enjoyed the event! A typical NB might give around 1/2 inch more than converse yeah and a cowboy boot like that might be almost 1.5ish.
I will be at London yes and will get as many photos as i can!]

Bruno was supposedly around 5'10" or so in his prime. He is 79 years old now, so he may have lost a little bit of height. But he still appears to be near the 5'10" mark.

Bret has his head tilted but he is standing in front of Bruno and he is thus closer to the camera.

In my opinion, Bret was probably around 6' tall at his peak but today he seems to be between 5'11"-5'11.5"

Bret is definitely in the 5'11" range today. I speculate even in his prime he was slightly under 6'0" flat. He doesn't look to have lost much height if at all.

With that said, I think we can use Bret as a measuring stick. HBK was slightly smaller, so we can see 5'10"-5'11" easy, and Austin, whom I don't think is 6'1" but more of a 6'0.5".

Bret Hart I'm guessing is probably a legitimate 5'11. I'd place Owen at 5'8 maybe a weak 5'9" (or 5'9" in boots). The thing is, the Hart's didn't wear thick soled boots (unlike HBK or Jericho). However, Bret has bad posture and always has. So it is possible he could be 6 feet. I would put him at 5'11.5", the Anvil at 5'10" as well as the Bulldog, Owen at 5'8.5", Pillman at 5'10" or 5'11", and for comparison, HBK at 5'10.5" barefoot (he was called "too short" along with Marty Jannette by Anvil and Bret in an RF shoot you can find on the Internet), and Steve Austin at 6'1". In confrontations with Bret and Austin, Austin always hunches a bit to get in the face of wrestlers.

Now that I mentioned that, when Austin got in the face of HBK without his boots on and was wearing some type of dress shoe weeks before WM 14, he towered over HBK and had his whole head over Shawn, like a 3 inch difference. Anyways, Bret always held his own to Austin and never looked too short, just a slight difference.

No way am I seeing 6'0 in this picture. Even without the lean he still had a slight footwear advantage. 5'11 is my guess
Shawn said on 25/Feb/14
Legend, find me a youtube clip from any era where Shawn was ever taller than Bret (without having a footwear advantage)... you won't, because he never was.

How tall was Yokozuna? Hart had around 1.5' on him.

Easy 6'0 in his prime, and close to it today in good posture.

Rob we should give Bret just 5'11 and a half take those shoes off or boots that he is wearing his 5'11. But here is a very real list of wrestlers heights.
Kane 6'6'' 1/2 - Undertaker 6'6 - Big Show 6'11 - Kurt Angle 5'9'' - Brock Lesnar 6'2'' - Hulk Hogan is 6'4 when stood up right - Cena 6 foot - punk 5'11 - HHH 6'1 1/2 - Nash 6'8 - Sting 6'1 - Daniel Bryan 5'8 -

I just went to the WWE show in Calgary on May 27, 2013. My seats were the first level off of the floor, granting me a awesome view of the ring and the wrestlers. I was Bret Hart appreciation night and Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon both joined Bret in the ring. Bret was not standing super straight and was also wearing runners and he was taller than both Michaels, who was wearing some sort of work boots and McMahon who was wearing dress shoes. Whatever height Bret is, Michaels and McMahon were both an inch or more shorter. If Bret is 6'0" then they are both 5'10" or maybe a weak 5'11".

Bulldog at 5'9 is equal with a 6'2 peak hogan... since he had(with cowboy boots) only tops 6 inches on bulldog in mid 80's.

bulldog was more like 5'11

Bret is the same height as 5'11.5" CM Punk at age 55. I'm sure 30 years ago he was at least .5" taller. As for bulldog, he looked about 5'10".
Bouncher said on 21/Mar/13
There should definitely be a peak height and a today height for Bret, cause I'm sure it's not the same anymore.

Looks about 5'11 or so now. He might have been 6'0" peak.
Bleak said on 13/Mar/13
I can't give Bret 6'0 at any point in his career. Absolutely no more than 5'11" max. In his title match vs. Davey Boy Smith, the two stood nose-to-nose in the center of the ring. DBS was listed at 5'10" but it was widely acknowledged he was no more than 5'9", (stated in an ESPN article after his death). Bret was barely taller than him.

I think he was 5´10.5" but sometimes he looks 5´11"

I've met all those guys, Got photo's with Davey and Piper, In 94 Davey looked 5'10-5'11 to me, Virgil looked 6ft in 2009, Piper on the same day looked 5'9. Bret 5'11-6ft in 94.

Great pic Vegas, Late 91.

Yeah, he doesn't look quite as big as 238 there. That's probably what he gets up to for wrestling. Wrestlers do have a lot of muscle, and even though they are often fat as well, they are usually in good shape.

Jesus, 238 lbs is exceedingly heavy for a 6ft0 (183 cm) guy.

Keep in mind that pro wrestlers are about 25% heavier than the average person, but he's probably lighter these days.

6' seems right for the Hitman.

I am approximately the same height and build as Bret Hart (in this photo) and I weigh 91kg (200lb). My guess is that by the time this photo was taken he weighed no more than 210lb, 215 at the very most.

Taller than he's given credit for, he was damn near eye to eye with Austin in his prime, and Austin is a legit 6'1.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 16/Sep/12
Looked slightly taller than HBK during their match at Wrestlemania. Not over 181cm next to Rob. However looks an easy 6ft0.5(184cm) next to Mamun. Bret edges out Yokozuna during the staredown by roughly 1in making him about 6ft1.5(187cm) in those boots.

In his prime, he was no shorter than 6ft. I don't know about today though.

I met Bret at a book signing in 2009 (I think, may have been 2008). He was sat down so the pics I have are useless, but I was one of the last people in line and when he stood up to leave I was surprised at how tall he actually was.

I have a friend who is a legit 5'11" (180cm) guy, and Bret looked taller to me than my friend, so I can't see Bret much (if anything) under 6'0" even today at 50+ years old.

Here's a question: Where is this supposed 5'11" billing I keeping hearing about for Bret?

Bret was around the same height as Vince McMahon and Roddy Piper. He was noticeably taller than 5'11" Ric Flair in 1998. All of this evidence has been posted (by me) numerous times. Bret was 6' in his prime. He may have been 6'0.5".
