I have never got 5'11'' from him, more like 5'10''.

It’s great that he doesn’t claim to be 6’0”!

Colin's taste in music is well advanced for somebody of his age. He got the word 'toots', as in the early reggae band 'Toots and the Maytals', enabling Colin to tell us all about the band and Toots Hibbert, who sadly passed away on the 11th September of this year, aged 77. Some consider Jamaican Toots Hibbert a fundamental part of the development of reggae music, on par with Bob Marley.
It's lovely little extras like this that make quizzes so worthwhile to watch, as well as exercising the grey matter.

He’s no “short arse” (nowt wrong with that).

He always appears pretty tall, even when he is sat down!

Never known the guy or have seen a clip of him, but I don't see any traits about him that would suggest that he's short.

😤 Correction Time! 😤
That should have been spelt 'faeces'.

Colin hasn't struck me as a 'short arse' on Countdown this week - far from it! Okay, so the guests in Dictionary Corner don't stand up. Their job is to create words from the nine letters selected by the contestants. How I laughed when he came up with 'faerces', and Nick Hewer reckoned it was a good word! 💩😷
I'm agreeing with 5ft11 for the 43-year-old presenter, who's far too young to have lost any height in the normal scheme of things.
