I thought he only looked a bit over 5 inches taller than a barefoot Audrey (but with shoe advantage) in an early scene in Tiffany's. If Audrey was slightly under 5 ft 7 I thought 5'11.5 in Tiffany's is possible, though in some scenes did look the full 6'. Very overrated film, only the charm and fashion of Audrey makes it worthwhile. Certainly not worth writing a song about it! Peppard and Audrey hated each other, Audrey thought he was a pompous p***k!

6ft genuinely claimed. Odd for Hollywood lol

He wasn't "very tall" but he was taller than that. At the least, GP was 5'11 but not over 5'11.5

Editor Rob: The other week Jenny was watching Breakfast, and I sat down and watched a bit again and he held up well beside Audrey. I'd say weak 5ft 7 and honest 6ft looked believable for both.

A fraction over 6ft in the Tiffany days is arguable, weaker 6ft in A-Team years

182cm at worst in A-Team. Mr. T was maybe 179-180cm? Looked close to 5ft11
Editor Rob
Could have been weakish 6ft.

Seeing how well George measured up to Hulk Hogan, I think he was still about 6 feet on The A-Team. Plus, I'm in the minority in that I actually believe Mr. T was the full 5'11" back then based on Rocky 3 and D.C. Cab. Peppard really wasn't that old on A-Team.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 22/Apr/18
Weaker 6ft by The A-Team years and a strong 6ft possibly in the Breakfest At Tiffany's days
Sonnecker said on 20/Apr/18
In the A-Team he never looked under 181-182 with his co-starrings and other known charachters. He was 55-60 years old, and he didn't care too much his health. So, in the '60s he was comfortably a good 6 footer.
John Doe said on 31/Jan/18
He was 5'11.5" It bothered him being just under 6ft so he always wore footwear that just pushed him over 6'0". (from a TV interview I saw). He was also the kinda guy who made sure he had the biggest gun on The A-Team. Props.
Templerman said on 22/Dec/17
Check out his scenes with sophia Loren in Operation Crossbow, she was 5'9". Inger Stevens in House of Cards, she was 5'6". Also look at Jeremy Kemp in the Blue Max, and Operation Crossbow, who was 5'11". And if your realy ambitious get a freedom of informaton act request for his military service record. He was a sergeant in the tenth marine regiment 1946 through 1948. I think like myself, he stood at that miserly 5'11.5" but called it six foot.
Vibram said on 4/Oct/17
I think Peppard was 5'11.25 peak, 5'10.5 A-Team.

He might have been 183-184cm range when they filmed Breakfast At Tiffany's and down to 182cm by the The A-Team years

George Peppard tall 183 cm? But since Rob?
I've been looking for him on the internet years ago, and he seems to me that there was 5'9" as his height, not surely 6 ft.
But where from come out six feet?
Come on, he would have been no more than 176 cm at best, look at him near to 173 cm Patricia Neal in "Breakfast at Tiffany's", there will been no more than 3 cm of difference.

Editor Rob: he definitely looked taller than Mr. T and Dirk Benedict in A-Team, so I think he could look close to 6ft.

Well, maybe Rob, I'm not saying no, certainly he didn't look so tall, even close to Audrey Hepburn, though with heels, he was a little taller than her.
Editor Rob
in heels I still felt George had more than an inch on Audrey.

He never looked tall in movies a full 6 ft is tall for Hollywood.
Always liked him but don't buy this height 5 11 peak seems generous.
He actually looked shorter average more often than not quite odd.
His posture looks normal to good so don't see him losing much there.
Dunno I've not seen any of his very early work might have shrunk.

After viewing Breakfast at Tiffany's again. He always looked 5 ft 8 to me. In Breakfast at Tiffany's most of the males in the movie were slightly taller than him.

.Been revisiting the A Team, again, and I've always felt Peppard was 6 feet. Could it have been a half inch under or over? Sure. But roughly, he was a 6 footer, especially based on the people he was around, co-stars included. Love when he was "on the jazz" in the A Team.
charlie said on 7/Feb/16
Audrey Hepburn was 5 foot 5 inches in Breakfast with Tiffany's she wore a standard 2 inch high heel shoe that would make her appear 5 foot 7 inches. George Peppard was 5 foot 9 flat feel. In shoes he would be a near 5 foot 10 inches that is a 3 inch difference through the movie. Hepburn Appeared tall and skinnier than other females but not much much. The average female is usually around 5 foot 2 to 5 foot 3 inches. So she would still be a tall girl at 5 foot 5 inches. You can see she and Peppard look about 3 inches in height difference through Breakfast At Tiffany's.. So George Peppard was 5 foot 9 inches 5 foot 10 in shoes

Newspapers in the 1960's listed Peppard as "six feet tall, weighs 170 pounds, has blue eyes and blond hair." A handsome actor of his day, he was probably in the 182 to 183 cm tall range.
Chuckie Cheese 2 said on 24/Mar/15
5 ft 6-1/2 - on the nose. Beautiful Actress. In Breakfast At Tiffany's she was approx. 3.5 to 4 inches shorter than the 6 ft 0 tall George Peppard, wearing her 3 inch heels, and he in his 1 inch heels.

This is circa 1990

Arch Stanton said on 28/Jul/14
@Gonzalo in his seventies yeah, probably lost 1-2 inches. Honestly he looked similar to Christopher Lee on film, I'd say 6'4.5-6'4.75 peak for Villallonga.
Gonzalo said on 16/Apr/14
Arch, I saw Vilallonga in Madrid years ago. He was very close to 1`90 and he was in his seventies. Anyway, he was very tall but I don´t think he was over 1,93
Arch Stanton said on 22/Sep/13
Buddy Ebsen had about three inches on Peppard in Breakfast at Tiffany's and he was supposedly 6'3.5" so I think 6 ft more than 5'11 peak. But he did look more 181-2 in the A Team.
Arch Stanton said on 22/Sep/13

Keep in mind that Hepburn in heels in the film looks 5'10" ish next Peppard so I think she's be about 5'10" in that picture in heels. Vilallonga is on the left. I see about a 6 inches difference, maybe 7 accounting for her being nearer the camera.
Arch Stanton said on 22/Sep/13
Rob any idea how tall José Luis de Vilallonga was? See 39 minutes range Click Here He looks 6'4"-6'5" maybe next to George Peppard? I see a 6'6" listing somewhere for him but he didn't look that high. He looked proportionally similar to Christopher Lee. He didn't look under 6'4" I don't think but he might have been 6'5". What do you think?
Editor Rob
he could be near to 6ft 4, never really seen much of him that I can remember apart from that bit I just watched.
Ohio Joe said on 10/Aug/13
In the '40s through '60s, official heights added one inch, from shoe heels, for men, and two inches for men.

As a result, Peppard, who frequently wore loafers, in the '60s, in his prime.was probably only 5' 11'', in his barefeet, in his prime
Arch Stanton said on 3/May/13
182cm I'd guess.

I saw George in an episode of his earlier TV series "Banacek" recently, and in "office" scenes with 5'11.5" Robert Webber, George was an inch taller. However later in the show he and Webber are out jogging in "runners", and George is really struggling to just match Webber's height. Go figure!

1`83 sounds dead on for Pepard. Vilallonga towered over him in Breakfast at Tiffanys. I saw Vilallonga in the flesh when he was in his seventies and he looked near 1`90. In his prime he could have been near 1`91

Theatreguy said on 24/Jul/08
Frank2 is right on the money. Probably 6' at this youthful peak and by the 1980s and 90s he was 5'11" I know this for a fact as I did a play with George just a few years before he died. I rehearsed and performed scenes with him over a period of several months. I am 5'9" and he was exactly two inches taller than me. He was never shorter than 5'11"
Marcelo C. said on 28/Feb/08
Lawrence: What you expressed below makes sense. On screen, G.P. looks more likely to be 5

Peppard's actually height was 5'11 and a half. He stated in a magazine that he hated to admit that he wasn't six feet.
MHouillon said on 5/Oct/06
I think also, that Peppard WAS 183cm in his prime, and 181cm-182cm during th A-Team-time.
Bleemo said on 19/Jul/06
I've just recently got the A-team first series on DVD, hey play.com are having a sale gimme a break already! Anyway there's no way Mr T and George are the same height, he has T by a clean inch in most scenes. I do think that Mr T was 5'10.5 in his prime so that would make Peppard 5'11.5 at this point. The weird one is Dwight Shultz, he's listed as 6'2 yet sometimes he can look shorter then Peppard and was definately shorter then the first guy they got to play Face who looked about 6'2 himself.
Frank2 said on 23/Apr/06
Peppard was 6' tall when he was young. By the time of that series he had shrunk by about an inch to an inch and a half. Dirk was about 5'11".
Rut said on 22/Apr/06
Peppard lifts?? ridiculous!
Ohyeah! I think Benedict was more like 5.10 3/4 because I have him at 179cm in a book, not that much of a deal, but maybe you liked to know..
Frank2 said on 23/Mar/06
Peppard was 6' tall. Here's another actor where I'm so sure I'd bet big bucks. Nonsense. Utter nonsense. I stood right next to him and we spoke. He was an inch taller. Look at me with George Segal, Deidre Hall and Tippi Hedren. I'm not short.

As far as how much taller he was than Audrey: Click Here Martin Balsam was only 5'6".

Marginally taller?: Click Here

Here's Audrey with 5'7-1/2" Bogie and 5'11" Bill Holden: Click Here

Now look at her with Peppard: Click Here

And here: Click Here

Here's Peppard next to 5'10-1/2 Peter Duel: Click Here

In The Carpetbaggers, Peppard was two inches taller than 5'10" Bob Cummings. In Operation Crossbow he was certainly taller than 5'8" Sophia Loren. Here's Cummings with 6'1" Don Defore on the left: Click Here

Now by the time of The A-Team Peppard had lost about an inch. No question.
Stiffelio said on 9/Mar/06
I insist: please re-watch Breakfast at Tiffany's. Peppard is only marginally taller than Hepburn there, not the 5" difference inplied by Frank2. So, either she's taller than 5ft 7in or Peppard is horter than 6ft...or both!
Frank2 said on 8/Mar/06
Peppard was six feet. I met him twice and both times he was taller than me by an inch. And Audrey was exactly 5'7" and wore shoes with one to two inch heels so she wouldn't look too tall with her leading men.
Stiffelio said on 30/Nov/05
Perhaps he was wearing lifts by the time of A-Team. So many people we've discussed in this forum do, or we assume they do, so why not Peppard.
Gramps said on 29/Nov/05
I dunno, Rob, here Peppard looks equal or shorter than the 5'10.5" Mr. T. I think Peppard is another one of those guys who lost a lot of their height as they aged. He DID look like a six-footer in his 30s, but certainly not here.

I've seen the odd a-team episode recently...he looks marginally taller to me...actually there was an episode on a boat where he was just maybe tad taller than Face, so in A-team days it is feasible he wasn't quite 6ft, but in 30's? Likely...
Gotxo said on 29/Nov/05
In the A-team he looks taller than dirk benedict. Who knows maybe that feller was not 5'11 too. But 6 feet to him doesn't look excessive.
Stiffelio said on 29/Nov/05
I saw Breakfast at Tiffany's last night. There's a scene where Peppard is barefooted and Hepburn is wearing pumps and he looks barely two inches taller than her. My guess is Peppard was 5ft 10" max.
itziar said on 5/Sep/05
so how can you list Audrey Hepburn as a 5'7''?? if George Peppard is/was (don't know) 6ft, Audrey must have been 5'9'' at least!!!
