His height gradually increases through the pics. He's shortest in Pic 1 and builds up to Pic 3. As usual, I tend to go with Pic 3. Maybe Rob pulled a Glenn and was 5' 9"+ in the first pic, shrinking to 5' 8.25" in Pic 3.

Could be like 187.7 cm or something. If so I'd be gutted as the 6'2" claimers would be closer than my 187.3 guess!!. Seems though the vast majority here think he's actually over 6'2" and that I doubt. To me he looks in between the heights of #2 and #5.

The reason this volunteer and volunteer 5 appear about the same height is because volunteer 5 was stood behind Rob, making him appear shorter. That actually threw off estimates, even mine (despite trying to account for it).
Rob and this guy are virtually side by side it seems, so I expect this guy to be a little shorter than Volunteer 5 despite looking similar height. Not a full cm perhaps, but 0.75-0.8 cm. I think he'll measure around 188.2 cm.

The linoleum might have the odd ruffle in it, but the floor in that area is linoleum on top of 9mm plywood large sheets, which level things pretty well.

Rob, this was a great chalenge and it seems we as a group were pretty good guessers. I was off by just 3mm on average and still didn't make it into the two five. The curious things is I was consistently off in both cases by underestimating their heights vis a vis yours.

Alex - These scores are for the combined man and woman measurements, it wasn't done individually. Individually, I came first with the girl's height. :-) But I was 1.5 mm out with the guy's height.
It's funny, but when Rob rounded to the nearest mm in the other challenges, it detrimentally affected my placing. But in this challenge, he didn't round up for the guy; which stopped me getting 1st place.
I think Rob hates me. :-(

How good was I with the girl, I was absolutely spot on, and explained to a tee why she was EXACTLY the same height as Rob, and how the 2mm discrepancies occurred in the other pics. I was a little generous with the guy though. Thanks Sean, it's good to rack up some points for a change. Sick of 5th!

The Girl - Pic1: She's standing just infront of Rob, arguably slightly slack posture. Rob appears 2mm taller. Pic2: Rob's dropping a bit of posture. She appears 2mm taller. Pic3: They're side by side, standing tall, equal height.

I think Rob tried to find volunteers as close to his height as possible for this challenge as a tester. And it worked, it certainly is testing us. When they are so close it can give an illusion that one is slightly taller than the other when it could be the other way round. Much more difficult to gauge than a 5'3" or 6'2" standing next to a 5'8".

Editor Rob I had thought the closer in height the easier the challenge although this one you might need to be only 4mm out in total for both to get in the top 5, depends how many more add a guess :)

I don't have a guess for this one, but for the picture with the guy I think this is a PERFECT example of how someone can look average to tallish from the waist up, but a full-body shot reveals them to be a bit under average. The guy is probably only a couple of cm taller than Rob, but if both were pictured alone I'd have put the other guy as being considerably taller because of his build.

In regards to the height claim by challenge 5 contestant, It happens a lot that ppl tend to say height in shoes. Girls I know sometimes describes me as 5'9" - 5'10" range even though im 5'8" barefoot. 6'2.5 still is tall in my book.

Probably to be on the safe side. He'd feel embarrassed if he claimed 6'3" and you measured him at 6'1.5"! Well to me if I passed him in the street and he was wearing shoes I'd probably look at him and guess he was legit 6'3" range. In shoes he'd be between 6'3" and 6'4" anyway.

I'm surprised she didn't make it to 162 cm, I thought she would, and took a punt on the .05 to try and get first place. How wrong I was. 5th again. :-(

Rob, she looked about dead on the middle of your eye level which was why I put down 5'3.75. 4.5 inch eye level but she was probably at your lower eye making up about 1/8 inch lower

Editor Rob normally eyelevel is around 4.5ish, but a slight tilt up/down can add 1/8th, or the camera can add/take away height.
I think the portrait (vertical) shot added a few mm to the girl's height.

i did the same mistake with the old one! i thought she was shorter than my guess but i upgraded it because on this site you have a lot of women that look that difference and that you put at 5'4! that should clear your ideas about it! you have a lot of women that look max 160 and you list 5'4, with no reason!

This was a close challenge, she was a good 161.7cm, you had to be within 4mm to get into that top 5. I put Reality/Sarrazin plus zaq as 1st.

She does look a flat 5'4" in the right photo, true. I think she's got to be somewhere around 162cm. But she's more likely to be 162. something than below my estimate of 161.8 cm I think. She's close to 5'4" likely the lower side of it, if she is above a flat 5'4" I would be very surprised. If I got the hair vs head line wrong though she's definitely on the higher side of the 162cm!! I think some of us are going to be very close on this one though.

Rob out of curiosity how much do you measure on tip toes? Would be interesting to see how much height difference between flat feet and max tip toe. Or go on tip toes in your Don's and see how tall you could reach!

A G manoevre LOL. Now lots of us here are good at estimating normal range folks between 5' and 6'4" below 5' or even 4' would be extremely challenging. Deducing anything over 12 inches is very hard. If you can get photographs with the 4 year old and stop her from tio toeing that would be a hard challenge. I guess we could use it to gauge Verne Troyer's height should you meet him, although she was probably taller than Verne...

You're going to have to be very precise with this one Rob, lots of very similar guesses. Even the tiniest rounding will throw off the results massively.
