So sad to hear of his passing. He and Roz were my two favourite characters from that immortal tv show. Height wise, he must have been somewhere between 171 & 173 cm tall in his peak.

He could look shorter on Frasier due to his cane and subsequent hunch. But when he stands up straight, he looks a solid 5'8.

Mike, JM is not 5'9.5. David Hyde Pierce is 5'9" and JM looks like a perfect 5'8" guy.

hard to accurately judge his height. He looked taller than Carell in "Dan in Real Life" but shorter than David Hyde Pierce on Frasier, I'd say 5'9.5

I'd agree with 5'8, looks about 2 inches shorter than 5'9 Hyde Pierce, but has noticeably bad posture on Frasier, so probably is 5'8

Also, on a non-height related note, John Mahoney is actually British. He just lost his accent after serving in the millitary. Sort of coincedental that he played the All-American guy in Frasier yet isn't even American. :]

This guy can look 5'7" with horrible posture but I think when he fully straightens out, he is very close in height with David Hyde Pierce and Jane Leeves. I usually don't upgrade people but I'd say 5'9" for Mahoney. Also, I think Leeves and Pierce need very small downgrades. Leeves to 5'9.5" and Pierce to 5'9.25" but I'm probably being a bit too fussy.

I just watched "Dan In Real Life" and John seems to look a little taller than 5'8,It's just an observation though.
