Everyone at peak in this picture, and Miguel Ferrer has a decent inch on MacLachlan, who only has an inch on Lynch and Bowie. Ferrer clearly has the best posture, yet I don't see MacLachlan dropping more than half an inch. In any case, a bit below 6ft in his prime makes sense for MacLachlan in my opinion, as to this day, he doesn't have the full two inches on Lynch in any picture of them together. 5ft 11.5 range peak, slightly below 5ft 11 today.

Unfortunately, that picture with Timothee is not useful for comparison given the angle. Kyle undoubtedly still has a comfortable amount of height over him despite his height loss.

With good posture in a Twin Peaks sketch back from a 1991 SNL, Kyle surely looked no less than six foot by Kevin Nealon. Oddly enough Conan O'Brien (a SNL writer at the time) is a background actor playing Andy in it and stands well, looking taller than anyone else around (but certainly with better posture than Nealon who's playing Sheriff Truman).

Armisen at times could be argued near 5'9 easily enough, like here Click Here, but overall I've thought his 5'8.25 listing has seemed right on the money. Maybe he's one who drops a bit of posture at times and if you measured him standing tall he'd clear 5'8.5. Not impossible.

I do find it hard to believe Kyle had lost near 1 inch already by 53/54, so it would be interesting to see him address the topic of height loss at some point or mention injuries that could have contributed to early height loss. That or admitting that he used to slip a wee half inch lift into his shoes!

@Rob: I haven't watched Twin Peaks or anything Kyle did in the 80's, but isn't it possible he used lifts back then to appear a strapping 6ft? He looked maybe a little bit shorter with 5'8 range Fred Armisen in 2018 Click Here, Click Here, Click Here, than he did with him in 2013 Click Here, Click Here, Click Here, both times with a footwear advantage. No taller than Azaria in 2018 either Click Here, Click Here. So between 54 and 59 he probably lost something, but how much is he supposed to have lost before 54? Barring any serious back injuries I'm not sure I could believe he went from a legit 6ft in his prime to looking 5'11 or less in early to mid 50's. Or is Armisen nearer 5'9? I'm not so sure about that seeing him with all the other SNL people...

I have been guessed at by strangers wildly from 6'2" to ridiculously 6'8", mostly 6'4" to 6'6", but never have been guessed in person as lower to my knowledge. Imagine how many conversations like that someone of giant height like the commenter Lanky must have. Since I'm too lazy to search around for the answer lol, how tall are you Sandy?

@Sandy, I'm actually 6'4.75", from a tall family with a brother nearly 2 inches taller than myself.

I'd say a weak six foot is what Kyle generally has looked, at times even in the 80s he could look 5'11.5"-5'11.75" but then you could say he may have slightly edged out Val Kilmer slightly, not more than an inch under 6'1" Michael Ontkean and closer than you'd expect in a shot near Kevin Costner, so there's a chance he's accurately listed.

I enjoyed the David Lynch film 'Blue Velvet' and it's definitely due another watch! I recall Kyle as young, tall and dark-haired. He looked a good 6ft in the 80s, for today's height, he gets three-quarters of an inch less.

I just last night saw The Hidden at a drive in and its got a pretty tall male cast. Kyle was a good couple inches under Michael Nouri and Richard Brooks but when Ed O'Ross's character handcuffs McLachlan, Kyle looks at most the same height as Ed, maybe even barely under him but maybe he was a tad looser in posture than Ed. Ed O'Ross gave himself a very specific and honest seeming 5'11.5" so it would reinforce that Kyle was more likely north of 5'11" and a touch under six foot for the better part of the day.

This guy's height is pretty tricky I think. People get mistaken easily because of his posture maybe. That being said, I refuse the fact that he was 182cm. I could give him 179-180cm before he shrinked a bit. Yet, he seems about 178cm nowadays.

@Tall Sam, I mentioned that Ontkean is listed higher here than 6' flat but i don't agree because like i said below he is towered over by 6'3" Harry Goaz. At 6'1" that wouldn't happen.

Looking at the photo's from that link you posted i think Val is taller than Kyle especially if you take off Kyle's big hair. I think Kyle is awesome by the way i just don't think he has ever been 6ft. 5' 11" peak for me cheers

If this photo is anything to go by, Kyle has got better looking with age. I don't watch 'Twin Peaks' and rarely have I had time for 'Desperate Housewives', but I remember him in the excellent 'Blue Velvet' and though he was suitably heroically tall in it, he came over as boyish, but with his heart certainly in the right place!
I'm deciding on 5ft11.5 for his today's height, and 6ft0.25 for his peak.

Catching up again on Twin Peaks in preparation for the revival and yeah there's a chance of a fraction under the six foot mark, although I wouldn't really go under 5'11.75". Sometimes looks like a pretty strong inch between him and Michael Ontkean and only a hair taller than Miguel Ferrer. He could be right around the same peak height as someone like Christian Bale or Mads Mikkelsen.

I've just finished to watch Twin Peaks for the FIRST TIME and, assuming the other actors are really as tall as listed, he does (or I should say "he did") look near 6'! A couple inches taller than David Lynch, a couple inches shorter than Richard Beymer, 2-3 inches shorter than Everett McGill and no... He doesn't look shorter than Miguel Ferrer! In fact, he consistenly edges him out on the show! But again I've never seen any of these guys in other shows/movies!

When I say he's a "5'11 range guy at best", I mean he's not a full 6 footer anymore. But even a weak 6ft (5'11.75) seems a tad too high as of 2014. He might have been 5'11.75 - 6ft in his prime, but now he's likely more between 5'11 and 5'11.5. With a clear footwear advantage he could just about look 6ft next to 5'9 Fred Armisen (if he's really 5'9, that is). 5'11.25 is my best bet, but 5'11.5 isn't impossible.

I saw the episodes of HIMYM and I would say they are even in height. I know the scene you are talking about where Radnor goes back to Zoey's old apartment to collect the box and Radnor looks slightly taller. BUT in an earlier episode on the boat MacLachlan looks slightly taller than Radnor. In all other scenes they are basically even in height. I have MacLachlan as the same height as Radnor, 5'11.5".

I remember meeting him (he was the keynote speaker at a youth acting festival) and he was TALL. 6'0 seems short, but this was 1991 and at only 5'0ish maybe he just seemed taller to me. But I recall that he towered over my friends (all around the same height) and we were surprised. He also had graying temples something we didn't notice from Twin Peaks.

MacLachlan has a slight build and in the series Twin Peaks he did not appear exceptionally tall. In fact he looked smaller then some of the cast especially the sheriff and deputy. I always thought of him as an average guy until I saw Mysterious Island where he towers over 5'8" Patrick Stewart. A height between 5'11" and 6'0" seems right.

I agree with this comment. Maybe Kyle grew to 6' in his 20s than his teenhood. I'm 5'8(and age 17) and my dad is 5'11 and my mom is 5'5 so maybe I'll be 5'10,5'11, or even 6' before I'm 20 OR I can get an extreme growth spurt in my 20s.

From the popular show Twin Peaks, Kyle is maybe a half inch shorter than Balthazar Getty, listed as 6ft. I don´t think Kyle´s height is 6'1" or 6'2", more like 5'11½".

See better "Showgirls" and watch him close to Elizabeth Berkley (177 cm tall)..He's been in an Italian tv program some years ago and he seems not so tall (178-180 cm,no more). Watch "Dune" too, and see him close to Sting, he doesn't appear taller (Sting is listed 180 cm,I think).
