How tall was Myrna Loy

Myrna Loy's Height

5ft 5 ½ (166.4 cm)

American actress best remembered for roles in films such as The Thin Man series, The Best Years of Our Lives, The Mask of Fu Manchu, Manhattan Melodrama, The Great Ziegfeld, Libeled Lady, Cheaper by the Dozen (1950), Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House and Too Hot to Handle. A costume designer in 1938 mentioned her measurements were: "Height: 5 feet 5, weight 125, Bust 32.5 inches, Waist 26 inches, Hips 36.5 inches". Another article mentioned her shoe size was 5.5B.
It wouldn't matter now, but in the 1930's, it was important that an actress be shorter than her leading man. I stand 5 foot 5½ and, with high heels and a big hat, it could be a problem. I never had to stand in a hole or walk in a ditch like some actresses I knew, but sometimes a cameraman would ask me to take off my shoes.

"here ought to be a law against any man who doesn't want to marry Myrna Loy."- wise words from Jimmy Stewart.

She looked pretty tall in heels in The Mask of Fu Manchu, otherwise she could give a high-medium impression.

Also, Rob, could you add at least Libeled Lady, a great romantic comedy.

Rob, could you add The Mask of Fu Manchu, Manhattan Melodrama, Libeled Lady and The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer?

She was one of the best, and one of the sexier leading ladies of her day. For sure, 5'5" is a better fit for her than 5'6", though sometimes her heels make her seem a bit over.
