He could be 5'9.5". However, I think he is probably 5'9.75". You have to take into consideration that he does not have the best posture and that will certainly affect him now as he's getting older.

I walked past him about a week ago in Sheffield. He was here for the WSC. I was surprised that he is not taller than me. I was few yards away as he passed but there seemed no significant difference between us height wise.

Funny how he introduced the white ball so the 1000th century is 134 not 141 so Robertson got the 5000 pounds for highest break in the tournament.
Editor Rob
Yeah, to make 1000 100 breaks is hard. I can barely get by 20 any time I played snooker! He looked around 5ft 10 with Neil who is over 6ft.

Rob, in these pictures you take with these celebs are you guys wearing any shoe/platform?
Also, when you are giving people their height on this website, is that their height in a no shoes/ platform?

Sorry, i'm new to the site!
Editor Rob
Everybody is wearing shoes, sneakers, heels...I've yet to see any celebrity in socks! Whenever I notice any footwear differences (well more than say a few mm) like 1/4, 1/2 etc I will note it on the page.

But heights are listed as if the person was barefoot. I'm 5ft 8 barefoot.

Flattish 5'10. 177.5-178 cm range. Think I'm edging towards the average guess.

@Bobby: that’s true. You wouldn’t see a difference between you and a solid 5’10 at a low unless you came below 5’9.75 that day by chance. 1/4” is not easy to spot even back to back. The shorter person could even have longer hair and appear taller as a result
Bobby said on 10/Aug/18
@Canson, I feel he'd be the same as me, like we wouldn't really be different in person. No one could tell we were apart.

Canson said on 11/Jul/18
@Christian: how tall do they try to tell you that you are once you call them out? Do they ever try to inflate you? Lol I ran into a lady the other day in the drug store that asked me how tall I was and I told her 6’4 (I was in casual shoes) and it was in the afternoon so I would come to around 6’5 in them give or take but not a full inch in shoe. She proceeded to tell me her husband was 6’4 and that I looked taller. To her credit she also said her husband is much heavier build and didn’t look as tall maybe because of my more slender and broad shouldered build. It’s also possible her husband wasn’t as tall as he claimed and she herself claimed 5’10” and looked it. I’ve noticed that a lot of women aren’t good at gauging height.

But then I’ve gotten other women, especially, who are clueless. One is a friend of the bartender I mentioned before who claims 6’4” or Conveniently 6’3.75. I’ve noticed a lot of fakes throw that 3/4” on the end. I went to a high school reunion once and one guy told me he was 6’3”, then said 6’2.75. He knew I had gotten him tho because he wasn’t 6’3” in shoes. He was also an athlete in school. And Some of them are an entire inch shorter than they claim but use the 3/4 to make themselves sound more convincing. I never picked up on that until the last few years but I’ve lost count now how often I see it. But back to the friend of the bartender, I’ve seen her brother before out and about with her and he’s 6’1 and claims 6’1” to her. I’ve never asked him but stood in front of him long enough to tell. She told me her brother is 6’1” as well. Yet she still maintains that the bartender is 6’4 and that me and my 6’5 friend are much taller than the Bartender. The funny part is that she’s seen my 6’3” friend who is 20 years older than we are and claims his actual height and even tried to say he was taller than he claims. And my 6’5” friend (strong 6’5 like you) knows them better than I do and even told her the same and she tells him he can’t be only 6’5. Ironically, he stood right in front of her brother when they met and she still couldn’t tell that there wasnt even a 4” difference between them (less because her brother had sneakers on like I did) and my buddy had loafers on. But standing in front of him I had Jordan’s and he had regular Sneaks so the difference was in my favor and I appeared just about as tall as my buddy did since he was in flats. I did hear my buddy say something about him being 6’5” and her brother’s friend said that’s what He thought he was which he would look in those shoes (around 6’5.75 or so) making him appear 6’5”ish barefoot. They didn’t ask my height.
Editor Rob
And as for Ronnie O'Sullivan's height...

around 5ft 10. When he was young he actually said he'd like to be 5ft 10, so I suppose he got his wish.
Canson said on 11/Jul/18
@Bobby: he’s likely taller than you but you wouldn’t see a difference if he’s something like 5’9.75-5’10. If Rob met him in person and pegged him 5’10 then he likely isn’t higher than that. Rob is more likely to give someone the benefit of the doubt than to lowball them. Look at Ray Fisher for example, he was listed 6’2.5 even after Rob met him and then when people said that the pic didn’t add up to that he was eventually reduced to 6’2.25 which he still doesn’t look. He can barely look 6’2” but the pic doesn’t tell the entire story as some people may be disadvantaged by a camera angle etc in pics

@Greg

What's just as bad or even worse than exaggerating about their height is that when they get called out, they make up all kinds of excuses. I've seen some people conveniently credit their claims to shoes, others inflate my height, and a few even use the fat excuse, which they inflate their height and then say they look shorter because they're fat. The only ones I can respect are those that they admit to inflating their height but do it because they wanna be seen as taller in public, like my 5'11.5" friend who claims 6'1" but admits he's 5'11.5" and wants to be seen as taller. Or to a lesser extent, my 6'3" coworker who claims 6'5" but he know's he's really 6'3" but does it because in his words "a lot of guys do it".

I think Ronnie is probably a weak 5ft10 barefeet. His thin body type can be deceptive.

Other tall famous snooker players you can check up on & my estimates:

Ricky Walden (191 cm), Ryan Day (188 cm), David Grace (195 cm). The snooker referee Jan Verhaas is a beast – looks a weak 6ft6!

Rob,don't you find it funny that on this site snooker players are on average taller than Soccer players?5'11.4 vs 5'10.8?You would expect the opposite thing.Of course the number of the former is quite small but still I would have expected them to be smaller anyways as snooker is a sport where height doesn't matter. But even more funny is that referees like Varhaas are even bigger than the players, quite strange.
Editor Rob

Editor Rob
he can look it at times, but I think would measure close to 5ft 10 flat.
Adam said on 27/Oct/17
Rob,if someone is the exact height as you, can you sometimes think you are taller than that person when looking at them?
Editor Rob
it can depend on how you hold your head, some people naturally tilt their heads down a bit, others seem to hold better posture, some slouch most of the time...so it's trying to account for things like that.

The closer someone is to your height, it certainly can be harder to tell if you are taller or not, sometimes another observer can look at you both and have a slightly better viewpoint...
lemonmelon said on 21/Aug/17

177cm/178cm for O'Sullivan.

I wouldn't take too much notice to what Taylor says he once described Mark Selby as 6'2 or 3 when he only claims to be 6'0 himself, Wenbo, he doesn't look much different than Ronnie so he could be close to 5'10, Joe Perry who Ronnie beat in the Masters final looked same as Ronnie but Perry has no hair basically and Ronnie has a good Inch of hair so Perry could be a solid 5'10 guy.
Anon said on 15/Jan/17
Dennis Taylor just said Liang Wenbo is around the 6' mark. I find that hard to believe. What do you think, Rob? O'Sullivan looks about 5'10'' right enough.

There's something about Ronnie which screams "old school crook". I don't know what it is. He has that look and demeanour of a Great Train bank robber or something , the look and vibe of an early/mid 20th century criminal in Pentonville.

Remember Ronnie saying on the Clare Balding show that he is 6ft, no chance of that around 5'10 is correct, He is a good couple of Inches shorter than Mark selby in the final just the other day and Selby looks a legit 6'0.

Yh, Walden is likely between 6' 3 and 6'4 he always slouches a bit when he shakes hands very tall guy, the 183cm listing is rubbish Have seen Hendry is listed as 186cm and Trump 174cm so its obvious they are not accurate at all.

Hendry cant be 6'1 he only looks a bit taller than Ronnie from what I can recall
Editor Rob

I can't see more than 1cm between Ronnie and Trump. I always thought Ronnie was a strong 5'11 but clearly from this photo he isn't. Trump can't be more than 179, weak 5'11 at the most.

Ricky Walden is the one I'm curious about, you don't really notice it until you get a clear shot of him standing next to other players and he looks HUGE. 6'4 at least. He's "officially" listed at 183 but that's obviously nonsense.
Editor Rob
Roger, I saw Walden described at 6ft 3 in a newspaper article, I think that range is believable for him.

Actually 'paul 182.4' i disagree, in my opinion i dont beliee 6 foot is 'tall' maybe because im 6ft1 i wouldnt say i was a 'tall' guy, or a 'big' guy, i would say im slightly above average, i wouldn't say 6 foot is 'tall' at all. If a 6ft3 guy stood next to me i wouldnt think he was 'tall' id say you have to be more than 2 inches above average to be considered 'tall' id say 3 inches ATLEAST even though im 6'1 i still wouldnt say im tall, for example i have a friend who is 6ft3 i would say he's tall because he's considered tall, yes.. But i wouldnt find him tall in my opinion im just above his eyebrows, i wouldnt consider him to be 'tall'. Average heights going up.. Im only 17 and im surrounded by guys 6ft and over. I think it would be safe to say 6ft5 is the new 'tall' as 6ft-6ft2 are becoming so common nowadays. And people dont notice it.. Some guys dont even know how tall '6 foot' actually is.. Measure with a ruler or measuring tape 183cm you'll be suprised its not as tall as you would expect.

Do you live on a basketball court?

I'm weak 5'11 and when I walk next to my 6'1 friend he doesn't seem that tall as opposed to my 6'5 friend who does still tower alot of people but when you come across at least 20 girls that are 5'10+ I feel short :/ but then I go to a multi cultural festival, dance class, wrestling event and bam I feel above average!

Teej where do you live ?? You are surrounded by Watusis ! Average height is 5'9 nt more ! 6'5 is very tall !

Measure with a ruler or measuring tape 183cm you'll be suprised its not as tall as you would expect.

if you aline in upper eyebrow that's 5'10'' (1.78m)

solid 5'9.5'' Ronnie O'Sullivan

I see a 4-5 cm difference in the pic, so he looks 177-178 cm. It could be that Rob thought he looked a good 178 outside the photo, when standing and talking together etc. In any case 5'10 flat is good.
Mr-KILLER-SHRIMP said on 19/Jun/13
177cm. His hair makes him look taller than he really is. Hands down best snooker player in history, what a legend.

@paul182.4, the average man in the U.S. is 69.3" according to the Department of Health and Human Services.

I met Ronnie at a nightclub in 2002. Very nice and polite guy! I guessed him at 5'9".

He looks my height. About 5ft10
paul 182.4 said on 13/Jun/13
that's how a 5'10 guy look like, that's exactly how 2 inches taller look like, let's say rob is 5'10(like the average guy and ronnie is 6'0 2 inches taller - you clearly notice that a 6'0 guy can be considered the start of tall because a 2 inches difference is noticeable and comfortably enought to have a decent margin over the average guy height)

Stephen Hendry, 5'11.5" seems to make most sense from what I've seen.
Craig 177 said on 12/Jun/13
This is another Mike Tyson scenario. He looks more 179 cm here. But then again, he's applying the arm around the shoulder which makes Rob drop slightly.

When I saw Ronnie's name, I thought 179 cm. When I saw the picture, I still thought 179 cm. When I read the listing, I realised he's 178 cm... ;-)
Craig 177 said on 12/Jun/13
This is amazing!

The really funny thing is that Ronnie was asked at about age 10, how big he'd like to be (actually meaning as a snooker player). He replied: "Five ten". He actually grew to his ideal height! Imagine if he'd said 6' 10"...

In real life I pegged him pretty average but slightly below if anything..I thought about 176-177cm.
Saw him on A league of their own - sports game show and he was dwarfed by 6'4 Flintoff and barely taller than 5'8 James Corden. So bit suprised if he was 5ft 10+ but seeing him next to rob 5ft 10 is the MINIMUM he is! he actually looks 178-179cm here but that could be because of the hair lol

Solid 5'10. No more no less.
SAK said on 11/Jun/13
He has always appeared the typical average heighted guy. 5f10 make sense. And next to Rob he looks it.
jimmy said on 10/Jun/13
This guy is easily the best snooker player ever.I don't know if he had any footwear advantage ,but he looks 5'10" here.
Arch Stanton said on 10/Jun/13
Jan Verhaas is his name Click Here that's him in the centre. Always looks pretty towering in snooker games I've seen, especially as the player are frequently bending down and he's standing there looming above the players like a tower. Can't find his height online but I'd guess he was clear legit 6'4" guy minimum.
Arch Stanton said on 10/Jun/13
There is a snooker ref who looks like Lurch with grey hair and he really dwarfs Ronnie by about 6 inches. Don't know if you know his name Rob but I'd guess he was near 6 ft 4.
Arch Stanton said on 10/Jun/13
Spot on. I requested him a while back I think and Stephen Hendry who I think is strong 5'11"-6' range.
legit177cm said on 10/Jun/13
5'10 spot on
