Was watching the classic, "Remember the Titans" again last night, and noticed a 19-year old Gosling looking a good 2, maybe even 3 inches shorter than co-star, Ethan Suplee, who I'm guessing has gotta be from 6' to 6'1"? That would've made Gosling only about 5'10" or 5'11" absolute max at the time. Could he have grown any more since age 19? I would peg him in his movies today at about 6 feet flat, but again those early movies like RTT and "The Believer" he could be as low as 5'10"?

@Lynx 6ft is above average in the US but definitely not "incredibly tall" and this is coming from a guy who is a weak 6ft himself. Also the average German male is about 5'11" not 5'9" flat. Trust me, I went to an airport where there was a large group of German travelers, and about 1/3 of those men were taller than me.

i'd feel the average height of Europe is grouped by regions. Eastern Europe seems to be 178cm. Scandinavia must be 181/182. The Balkans it's like 184cm. The Mediterranean nations is like 175. Germany/Netherlands/Belgium is 183/84.

I think he is a height conscious guy, he certainly can be like 184.3cm in the morning but goes to bed after a long day at 183.0
He has one of the best postures, and can wear a very small lift for standing at 186.0~185.3 sometimes

@Importer, you don't have to compare them separately. Just google images "Bradley cooper Ryan gosling", there's a couple of pics where they stand together. Even if we tend into account that Bradley loves beefier footwear, there's an obvious height advantage in favor for Bradley

I now own many of his films but as my little scrapbook isn't here, I can't say how many. One of the unexpected best is one with Keeley Hawes as a cast member, and Ryan also starred with Michael Pitt, as his brother, in 'Murder by Numbers', which stands out for me!
I look forward to seeing his New Year release, a musical of all things, with the delightful Emma Stone! It's a completely new direction for him so it should be interesting. He discussed it on the 'Ellen deGeneres' show recently and yes, he did look very tall indeed next to Ellen!

183-184cm seems spot on for Gosling to me. I'm a fraction over 184cm in the morning and looking at all the pictures of him, his body shape etc, we basically look the same height to me. A couple of people seem to say "No way is he 6'1"..." but that's not what 184cm is - it's 6ft 0.5in. Saying that, in the photo with 6'3" Ferrell, you can argue a case for him looking 6'1" as there looks to be only a 2-inch difference. Based on most photographic evidence, I'd call him a solid 183-184cm.

Anyone around normal height who sees a 6'3'' man will swear he is at least 6'4''. Watch the racetrack meet scene of 'Drive' Cranston looks really small next to Gosling who can't possibly be under 6 foot, not unless he had serious lifts in Drive.

I also would think that Ron Perlman would be a taller guy...but in pics he looks the same height(and sometimes shorted) as disputed 5'10.5 - 5'11 Bryan Cranston. He is an older man, and appears to have a slouched posture, so that is indeed a factor to consider. Ryan Gosling is a hard one to pinpoint indeed. Met him in Austin once...I'm just around 5'10 1/4 on the dot and he was wearing boots and he was hardly an inch taller than me in my nike shoes(they make me about 5'11...maybe a hair over, I've measured). I'm going to say he is 5'11 1/2 barefoot and around 6.05 - 6'1 in boots.

He walked past me about a month back, I'm 5'10.5 and was wearing Converse, he was wearing his black boots(Canadian parade boots, in my opinion) I'd say he's 5'11, 6'0 in boots. There was about an inch separating us. I've never really thought of him as being 'tall' or anything. Just regular height

Photos at premieres get taken from weird angles some seem to be taken from much higher than you would think look at Larry Holmes, Wladimir Klitschko and Gerry Cooney at a premiere, The relative heights in the various pics are all over the place. Also some people wear dress shoes with substantial heels some don't. Gosling seems to be a bit of a rebel as regards outfits at premiers (he wore what looked to me like actual work clothes to one). Having said that, Gosling looks slightly under 6 foot next to Albert Brooks (in massive shoes) and Bryan Cranston both listed as 5'10''. But then again where you can see Gosling looking under 6 foot as he did at the premiere of Drive his heels are always extremely low for dress shoes. Two who met him put his height at 5'11'' or a flat six foot. As he is a sloucher in low shoes he is likely being underestimated

@Editor Rob: Since he can look between 6' and 6'0.5, wouldn't 6'0.25 be a fair compromise, and just go with that? I think 6ft even would be the best, as I rarely see him much over it, but 6'0.25 could be OK.
