If you watch 'What I Like About You' you can see she went through a huge growth spurt. In the beginning she is obviously shorter than Jennie Garth (listed as 5'5") by the end of the first season Amanda and Jennie and almost the same height. By the end of the series Amanda is clearly taller than Jennie even when Garth is in heels and she has flats. Iv'e seen her listed anywhere from 5'6 to 5'10! Looking at hairspray and comparing her to zac efron, she cant be much over her listed height here. It never made sense; if zac efron was much over 5'7" he would tower over vanessa in the hsm photos. (My sister is vanessa's height and in 4 inch heels I still have a good inch on her (I'm 5'6") surprisingly Vanessa and Zac are within a couple of inches of eachother when she wears heels. I think Amanda's listed height is pretty acurate!! =]

Guys understand, she is no more than the height listed in here. Probably 5'7 even, she could be anything from 5'6.5 to 5'7.5, it's just that she likes to use big heels. Those saying that she was "a few cms taller than you" and that you are 5'7 and something, it's because your eyes are not on the top of your head, a quarter of an inch is not noticeable at a glance is it?

Hi, Amanda. That was not me starting a fight. I just find it really frusterating when people say "so-and-so SAID they were *blank* in height." It doesn't matter if they have done so multiple times. People will consistently lie. And it's not a "fact" that Frankie is 5'4. It's your opinion. But you give me some proof with him next to supposed 5'4 stars, and I'll give it a look. You can post it on his page. Honestly, I don't look at Frankie Muniz very much. Logic has just told me he is probably under, and since I've thought Amanda was closer to 5'6.5, him being under 5'4 went along with that. I don't like to exaggerate his shortness either-I don't exaggerate anyone. I try to be as objective as possible with everyone. By the way, I've never heard anyone say Tom Cruise is 5'1! Haha.
Did anyone catch Amanda and Channing Tatum on Fuse's Daily Download last week? Of course they are in a movie together, but sometimes movies are unrelable because of tricks done. Channing is listed as 6'1, and he does seem really tall. I wasn't paying too much attention, but Amanda looked like she was at his eyes, so that's like 4 1/2-5 inches less. She was in pretty tall heels. If he is 6'2 in shoes, she would have been about 5'9-5'9 1/2 with heels--Unfortunately it's really easy to be off an inch or so. Amanda, it's been said multiple times on this site, by me and many others that PEOPLE LIE ABOUT THEIR HEIGHT. PEOPLE LIIEE ABOUT THEIR HEIGHT. You think someone as egotistical as Frankie (he is) would say 5'4 if he was REALLY 5'4? Of course he'd bump it up! He's thin, 5'4 can appear more! Thus, I think under 5'4 (5'2 being a low estimate) makes sense for him. The fact that he has said 5'4 multiple times proves nothing... just that he is consistent with his lie. Happens thousands of times. People will find a height they want to give themselves and they stick to it!
By the way, I caught Bynes on Jimmy Kimmel. She wasn't standing long, so I wouldn't think it's too fair to judge her height. She looked about 1 1/2--2 inches shorter than him in heels that made her 2 1/2--3 inches taller. But how tall is he? The standard 6'0 is given for him, but it's been proven otherwise (his page with him standing next to Adam Carolla is a good one). If he is 6'1 with shoes, you can calculate based on my observations that she would be about 5'8, maybe more.

I probably post too much on this page, but oh well... So Cassie what is your conclusion? I think Wilmer is taller than her a little bit in that picture because his forehead is higher. I agree she is slouching though and slightly further back. I don't know his exact height either. And who knows about lifts...
The problem is we usually don't know the exact height of people. Some think Cameron Diaz is less than 5'9. Some think Shia is less than 5'10. And I have noticed some people forget to account for shoes in males... like when people have tried to compare Shia with Amanda, they forget about his shoes. Down below, I remembered to take them into account, but I probably didn't give enough, because I said 1/2 inch, when it is probably more like an inch. The TRL pictures with them confuse me anyways, because sometimes she is taller than him in pictures, and sometimes she is shorter...

I was looking at pictures of Amanda next to Cameron Diaz, who is 5' 9", and Amanda was an inch and a half to two inches shorter. I couldn't see the shoes, though. =(
When trying to figure out the height of Bynes next to Shia, take into account that Shia is not barefoot! His shoes have about one inch soles. Amanda's are three inches, so that means Amanda looks two inches taller than she is. She looks as tall as Shia, who is 5' 10"- 2" = 5' 8". If Shia is 5' 9" (which is the lower estimate), Amanda is 5' 7". She is definitely taller than 5' 5" or 5' 6". Alex says on 9/Feb/06

I was joking about your name anyways. And I am through discussing Bynes with you. It's clear you won't listen. I have already said SHE WEARS HEELS ON HER SHOW. And when she is in heels and Jennie (who is not rounded DOWN when she is listed as 5'5) is in heels, she is definitely not 3 inches more. And guess what? Once, they were in no shoes AT ALL (last season ep.), and the comparison was exactly the same. I can tell the difference between a one inch gap between someone and a 3 inch gap. It's not that hard.
About the average height for males and females... it depends on the sources you look at. Some sources say the heights you gave--5'9 1/2 and 5'4 1/2, some sources get as technical as 5'8.9 and 5'3.7-5'3.8. It just depends. Kats says on 6/Feb/06
Amanda (Bynes Wannabe?) I didn't just compare Amanda to Jennie. And maybe you should do some research: read my other posts, check Jennie's listings. She's ALWAYS listed as 5'5. That may even be rounding up. You think she could really be 5'6 and always rounded down to 5'5? Doesn't happen in Hollywood, sweety. Plus, I stated that another co-star on the show (Leslie Erin Grossman) is listed as 5'5, and looks equal with Jennie. PLUS, I have always taken heels in account. I mean, did you pick and choose what part of my post/posts to read? I said that both times I took heels into account when I did the Jennie/other co-stars and Amanda comparison.

Watched her show this friday night (sick and had to stay home :( ), and once again, compared to the 5'5 co-stars, she is barely taller. All were wearing typical heeled shoes. Another co-star listed as 5'2 (doubt she is downgraded), is not 6 inches shorter! 5'6-5'6 1/2 keeps showing up for her. Ah, I love harping on this one. If I can convince one non-believer that she lies about her height, it would be awesome. Also gives insight on how a celebrity can lie about height and get away with it... Amanda is built perfectly for a 2 inch+ upgrade. She's got very square shoulders that actually give her more "body" so to speak as oposed to rounded shoulders which makes a person have less. Interesting comparison with the 5'10 Shia. I don't know if I'd say her hairstyle gives her an inch of height. There is some height to it but I doubt a full inch.
My guess is her shoes make her 2 inches taller--maybe slightly more. Shia's are what--1/2 an inch? I agree she is probably 2 inches shorter than he is according to the TRL pictures. He is slightly closer to the camera in the last two but you can still tell she is about 2 inches shorter. So she is probably about 5'6- 5'6 1/2 according to my calculations.

That picture with Merrin Dungey basically proves she is not 5'8. It's unlikely several things could go wrong (such as slouching, different heels, Merrin Dougey actually being taller than 5'8 when that's how she's listed) for Amanda to actually be the height she claims. She's the celebrity height on here I find the most interesting, because she is one who can actually fool people into believing she really is 5'8. You know what it is? 5'8 is more uncommon for females than people think. When you're around 5'6 1/2 (the height I believe her to really be) that is already above average height for a female, and if you are built right, you can lie and say 5'8 and people will believe it. Because truly, not many other females will be 5'8 to compare them to. So many people fudge on there height, some 5'6ers 5'7ers who are built right can get away with 5'8 or more. It's not just them either. People can add an inch or two to their height and no one really knows it's a lie.
Btw, Amanda was on Conan the other night. I tried to compare those two, (I think his height is accurately listed) but she sat down so fast and he's already so tall as it is I couldn't judge at all. So much for what I thought would be more proof... CelebHeights Editor says on 17/Aug/05

There is no way she is 5'8. Yes she is very thin and her build just gives the illusion that she is quite tall, but compare her to her acclaimed 5'5 costar, Jennie Garth in her tv show. No way is she 3 inches taller. And another costar who is said to be 5'5 (she does look dead on with Jennie) is also pretty close to Bynes. I'd put her at 5'6 1/2 again--5'7 AT the most. She is a tallish girl, but nowhere near exceptionally tall even for a woman. Again compared on Regis and Kelly she was in heals, and didn't look too much taller than Regis who is really just about 5'6" and who was in dress shoes. Amanda Bynes is NOT 5ft 6.5! I remember her quoting somewhere that she was close to 5'10" or 5'11". Besides, when you see her in movies like What A Girl Wants, it is clear that she is very tall, especially when she stands with people like Collin Firth and Oliver James. |
