LOL if I was 6'9" then 7' wouldn't seem that bizarre!! Sorry to disappoint, knock off nearly 8 inches and you'll be nearer what I am. Good height in normal populations, but 6'1" range is pretty boring really compared to guys like Walton LOL!!, although seems to be the ideal for the smaller guys on here. That said I wouldn't want to be anything over 6'6" but I could manage 6'5" if I looked like Joe Manganiello!!

From my perspective normal range is anything up to 81 inches (6 ft 9) when I stand barefoot next to the tape/door , about an inch above the door frame and when I say that i'm visualizing a man standing there and trying to comprehend how somebody could humanly be taller than that LOL. Anything over a legit 6'9" barefooted for my perspective is sort of out of the realms of humanity and lampost territory just by sheer body length!!! Shaun says on 8/Nov/11
Geez out of curiosity I just got out a measuring tape and stood barefoot with the tape next to the door and looked up at 7'0. Its like giraffe height insanely tall. From my perspective normal range is anything up to 81 inches (6 ft 9) when I stand barefoot next to the tape/door , about an inch above the door frame. Above 82 inches it truly starts to get into sky territory. A true legit 7 foot is just insanely tall!! The truly excessive inches start to come above 6'9" at least they do from my own height. if you actually look at it on a tape looking up the difference between 6'8" and 6'9" and 7' is quite substantial. Well he wasn't 7'2" or more as has often been claimed as I think he looked a good two inches shorter than Kareem. But I do think 7'0"-7'0.5" actually looks realistic. Mamun what's the tallest you could buy for his peak height? I could buy that he measured about 7'1" in basketball shoes and was maybe 7'0.5" out of bed in his socks? Mamun says on 8/Nov/11

lol, that answer really didn't make any sense, jtm. So your estimate for Hakeem Olajuwon is more reliable than Hasheem Thabeet's actual measurement? And why exactly is a single photo of Olajuwon and Thabeet some sort of proof of their exact heights? Especially when neither of their posture is good and Olajuwon has a clear camera advantage.
Not that I necessarily disagree with 6'10" for Olajuwon, but I can't understand why some here act like single photos prove someone's exact height or why when heights don't add up in a photo that the one you question is a measurement instead of your own estimate being the more questionable one. Bill was called 7/1 by Stanford basketball player mike mann around 1972. When Bill is pictured standing next to Robert Parish who was listed at 7/1 in some publications, Bill is at least as tall as Parish. I met Bill at the Hall of Fame in 2008. I'm a tall guy at 6'4 -6'5. Bill is just plain huge. Robert Parish lives in my neighborhood in Cornelius, NC, and Bill looks taller. Also I forgot to mention here but Tiny Ron may have been wearing footwear with
at least .75 to an inch thicker than Bill Walton did in my photo . Bill was
wearing extremely thin soled causal shoes where as Ron had on huge boots !
