Canadian actor, best known for playing Colossus in X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand and Felix in The Twilight Saga. In a 4tnz.com interview he said "I'm 6' 7" and on twitter "Last time I had a physical I was measured at 6'6 1/2". At this Twilight event, when the host described him as being 6ft 8, he replied, "Actually, I'm not even that tall". In this photo I had 1 inch Clarks, whilst Daniel & Jenny had 0.6-0.7 inch Converse sneakers.

I’m not as convinced he’s a solid 6ft7er like a Merchant or an Osman (both arguably a bit over really) but I don’t think he’d be too far off the mark. I just think 199cm might be a little low

It’s possible his 6’6 1/2 he claims is a very strong half and that he’s more .5-.6 range or 5/8” as Chaos alluded to with the 3/8” being extreme low. Possible though just a standard 1/2” with more favorable proportions. But I remember Rob saying he looked taller than Rick Fox with less footwear. And I thought he even said taller than Joshua. But Joshua looked taller than Fox with more footwear. However Rob says Fox does not have favorable proportions relative to those guys

Editor RobI think he likely did measure 6ft 6.5, but I'd be surprised if 10-11am measurement, maybe at that stage 6ft 6.75 range is likely. Although I never got any photos of him and chaske together, on stage like here, it's impossible for him to be as low as 6ft 6 and chaske 6ft 2...for me, there's at least 5 inches between them in person.

I get photos for this site, so in most double shots I positioned myself first, and more than half the time Jenny cannot get on the same plane.
Daniel's left shoulder is rotated further away than his right because I have leaned back to be near enough on the same plane...there is no photographic advantage to me, because the top of my head (crown) will in fact be slightly further than his chin...not that either scenario made much difference here.
A shorter person standing beside somebody 6ft 5 should in fact stand 3 inches in front so the crown of the shorter person is the same plane as the chin area of the taller person.
Jenny being a few inches closer didn't manage to gain much advantage...she is blatantly closer because my head looks smaller than it should in comparison.

If we are near enough on the same plane (our toes are same distance from camera but my foot is an inch longer than hers, so I'm actually a little bit further away) my head should look nearly 1.5 inches longer if we have same flat hairstyle....it doesn't with Jenny/daniel because she is closer than us by a few inches, though the height of the photographer meant there was no real advantage.
The closer a camera is to the top of the shortest person in a photo, the less being further or closer will have on the photo.

If we are near enough on the same plane (our toes are same distance from camera but my foot is an inch longer than hers, so I'm actually a little bit further away) my head should look nearly 1.5 inches longer if we have same flat hairstyle....it doesn't with Jenny/daniel because she is closer than us by a few inches, though the height of the photographer meant there was no real advantage.
The closer a camera is to the top of the shortest person in a photo, the less being further or closer will have on the photo.

In the photo he looks 6'6" 3/4-7/8 the more I look, if you factor in the disavantage 0.4 inch and the fact he has a whole head on rob at probably about 10.25 inches at least on rob because he has a large head. The math is rob is 5 ft 8 1/8th the footwear disadvantage is 0.4 inch and his head let's just say is 10.25 inch long for simplicity sake although could be slightly longer equates to a difference of 10.65 inches add that to robs height and you get 78.775 inches which he seems to be minimum in the photo. Editor RobRemember I am seeing people interact with others and stand beside them. There's a moment of getting a photo, and showing I've seen that person up close, but there are other peoeple meeting him and also seeing actors interact with other actors. It's all useful in trying to guess a range, as is measuring people and knowing how certain heights look from your own perspective.

Editor RobI would say I have a good knowledge of what height many styles of sneaker, shoe and high heels give, to help reduce error when trying to estimate. It's easier when the brand or model is known, as in this case - I'm in a 1 inch heel, Daniel in a converse, so nearly 0.4 inch.

Editor Rob could depend on the time of day measured. I cannot now recall which day we got this, so am not sure if it was 9.30am or 12-12:30pm, but either way he wouldn't be at his lowest.

Editor Rob his long spine might mean he shrinks more than your average 1.8-1.9cm, he might go 3cm from rising to bed.
If you do a lot of weights and measure afterwards you might find your spine gets compressed to an absolute low that those who don't do as intensive physical work wouldn't reach.

Editor Rob for me a safe bet he would comfortably clear that 6ft 6 mark, If he was really just 6ft 6 he would have looked about 6ft 5.5 range (because of footwear difference).
It wouldn't surprise me that one time he got 6ft 6.9 and went 'forget about the 0.9' ;)
