That girl could either be sufferin from gigantism or Marfan syndrome, or she was givin HGH, which some are takin nowadays. I don't think it's healthy for a person at a young age to be growin that tall. Amy, Cameron is slouchin there, so Weaver could be 5-10ish, maybe a little under since she may have lost some height, now that she's gotten old.

I saw her in ghostbusters years ago and didn't realize she was so tall. Maybe the ghostbusters are all tall guys. I had the impression she was only average height in that movie, like 5-6 or 5-7. I don't think her height was an issue.Wasn't until Aliens (part 2) came out that they started describing her as tall. Yeah those hovering over the 6' mark or over will not add inches to their height, mainly because they are virtually non-existent. But those who do exist will sometimes attempt to(Sharapova is about 6' and claims 6'2"!!!).

Yes, a woman at 180 cm may appear taller than a man who is also 180 cm. However, being a tall woman myself, seeing a 5'11" woman doesn't appear all that tall to me in reality. So no, to me a 5'11" woman doesn't look enormous. But to other people, yes, especially if they don't see a woman often at that height. And also if they can't judge heel height either.

Sure, some are still probably a bit overestimated (many claim this with Brad Pitt and Natalie Portman, for example) but are they completely unfounded? There has to be a reason why some celebs are so debated in terms of height, compared to those that are not (such as Nicole or Sigourney here). When you are notorious of wearing massive heels (Jeniffer Lopez) or massive shoes (Robert Downey Jr.) your "official stats" (not just height, weight as well) tend to be thrown out the window.

That is the plain truth. There is marked tendency, in this website, to give women much more credit than men as far as height is concerned, it is generally assumed that men care more about height than women do, that women "have no reason" to lie about their height, that they even try to diminish their height... There are many examples in this website that contradict this. Another thing that people don't seem to get notice of are the biological differences between male and female's builds: the longish silhouette that is proper of a woman's buid, not that of a man, usually leads people to believe that women are taller than men who in reality are about the same height. Consider this: when we see a 1.80m man walking down the street we don't take notice, it's a "normal" guy... but when we see a 1.80m woman it is always quite a sight, they look enormous. That is probably one of the reasons why there are so many overlisted "tallish" women in this website. I know that because I measure these regularly, and they usually turn out to be shorter than they first appeared to me... with men it is (usually) the opposite.

Nonsense. I always try to look for the best pictures I can find: full-body, non-"angled" pictures. I just would like to see the heights proved with good, unquestionable pictures. There are quite a few pages here that have no pictures posted at all! Look up the Brooke Shields page. Can't see Nicole at less than 5-10? Have you seen Moulin Rouge or the movie "my life" with Michael Keaton? Both these men are listed here at 177cm (5-9.5) and Nicole, without her heels (I know it's hard to imagine her without heels, but click on the pics below) is not taller or shorter (not noticeably, at least)than they are, Nicole is about 177cm too. She is at the very best 5-10, most likely a bit under that.

I honestly can't see Nicole under 5'10". On the other hand, Sigourney isn't that young anymore and it's very possible she has lost height, which I kind of doubt. To me, Nicole looks taller. But Sigourney looks bigger in terms of size. However, if she was wearing those flat, almost no heeled shoes with Nicole then yes, definitely taller. But Nicole typically wears anything from a 2" 1/2 - 3" standard heel so not very big. Anne is 5'7"-ish. She's also wearing some killer heels if you look at the group photo, although it's hard to see given the angle and darkness. And I can't distinguish Sigourney's heels at all. But just looking at the base, Anne has on some chunky high heels, as in platform wedge heels, compared to Nicole Kidman's standard 3" heels. It even looks chunkier and larger than Halle Berry's heels in the group photo.
What shocks me is that Nicole looks like she dwarfs Halle. She's listed here as 5'5 1/2" (down from the ridiculous 5'7") which may even be too much. More like 5'4". I'm fairly sure that this website UNDER-lists the heights of men who are considered good-looking, and OVER-lists the height "tallish" women. Look up the Nicole Kidman's page here, there are some like-opinions there. There's one reader who says that Nicole looks smaller than Brad Pitt whether she has heels on or not but still she is listed at only 1 centimeter shorter than him!!! Yes they are tall... they are tall WOMEN. 5-8, 5-9 is tall for women, but not for men, is that clear? And that is fine, I don't understand why a woman would like to be 5'11" or 6'. The thing is that whenever people see a rather "big" girl like Liv Tyler or Leelee Sobieski they go crazy and want to press men's standards of tallness on them. Then they call them 5'10", 5'11" or 6' which is absurd in almost all cases. Heels play a big part in this misconception also. Almost all of these "big"(5-8,5-9 range) girls are over-listed in this website. What I said about Sharapova is true, she is in reality about 181cm/182cm (5'11".5)which is huge for a girl but she claims she is 6-2, lol. Maria Sharapova is an athlete, and nearly all of them are way over-listed, even more than Hollywood celebs. Primarily because it's all about "official" stats and whatnot, as height is seen as a huge advantage virtually all of the time. Look all around this site at the views on really tall women-- they are deemed as unattractive and unfeminine. Uma Thurman has a complex about her height, not to mention she's always bending down like most truly tall women do. (The pic that used to be up on this site clearly shows that she's at least 5'11" if not taller.)
And a 5'8"-9" woman is hardly ever going to claim she's 5'11"-6". I've never witness that happen in my life. I'm in the 5'9" range myself and never would I claim a "wannabe" 5'11". People easily mistake me for that height, but it's not all that hard to differentiate between 5'9" and 5'11". And Sigourney isn't shorter than what's she's listed here. She's very, very tall. How do you know all of them are over-listed? They are tall women. Leelee is about 5'10" as she's listed here, but for her 6'2" quote most people period believe a 5-6" heel really give that much height. As for Nicole Kidman, many "old timers" here on this site have seen her in person and claim that she's as tall as what she's listed. Some say she's even taller than what she's listed at here.
And did I say tall woman never lie? No. I said hardly, because they hardly do when it comes to upgrading their height. I'm a tall woman myself and honestly, I'm not going to be boosting several inches to my height simply because there is no reason to do so, unlike men. Almost always tall women will shave an inch or two off (I know many who do this, I used to do it myself), whereas with shorter women it's the opposite. Most people here attest to that. Being tall and an actress might be glamourous, but let me tell you, I am not everyon's cup of tea. Many men don't like my height and have passed me over for women of average height or petite women. They have the attitude that richard has, they think that smaller women are more appealing. By the same token,some people have commented on how they like my height. I take it in stride. I have been very fortunate to have a good career and many fans. Not many movies used my height as an advantage. When I play tough characters some people say I am imposing because of my height. Richard, petite or tall makes no difference at all, in terms of the quality of a person. Maybe to the NBA, but not in the quality of a woman. My wife is 5'10.5", and she is beautiful. I like taller women, always have, but it is just a matter of taste, nothing more or less. Maybe just what -Christie- says about the "statuesque figure". The limb length and long waist has always been attractive to me. The fact that she is taller than I am has NEVER been an issue for us. We have had arguments about MANY things, as any healthy couple does, but her being tall has never been a problem in any way. Shallow minded people first notice that she is taller than me, and they sometimes ask if it has ever caused us problems, but in reality we are both happy to tell them, it is the only thing that has never been an issue. She was always sensitive about her height, because a lot of men told her that it made her “less female”, and it took a while for her to come out of her shell and appreciate her height as a gift. Today she sees that it is just one more quality that makes her beautiful. I don’t need her to be small for me to feel big or accomplished. Maybe if I had nothing else going on in my life, and that was all I had to make me feel important was to “just be taller than someone else”.

Most women in Hollywood are stick thin regardless of their height. Many of them have little curves and could hardly be called having an hourglass figure (i.e. Jessica Alba)-- short, average or tall. So I have no idea where you're seeing that. Women in the real world, maybe. But in Hollywood? Hardly. All of those women you see, from Eva Longoria to Gweneth Paltrow are extremely thin and most say they appear anorexic in person.
And many men love these women, as some do like women whom are very thin, gauntly even. There are also those that like women a bit athletic, or curvier or whatever. There really is no standard, honestly. (Also, who's not to say they aren't real women either? Some of them may be naturally thin, and that's not their fault. Others whom have eating disorders need help.) The hourglass was popular in Marilyn Monroe's time, but the same can hardly apply in the 80s, 90s, and into the present day. But yes, men do like petite women, but they like all women honestly. It all depends on the country and culture.
And sure, models are tall and thin, but many of these actresses are just as thin even with or without the height. The media perpetuates thinness in general, not so much height-- unless you're a male. As for prettier faces, that also has a standard, particularly a western one, held by the media. Again, in other countries the same may not apply at all.
And Christie has her biases, but so does everyone else. It's not worth arguing over. Let her be-- you're not going to change her mind or anything, and her view on yours. But of course the whole "tallness is better" attitude will rub people the wrong way. Hell, it does for me and I'm tall. I have plenty of family members whom are of average or short height and I would be angry if someone said they aren't as pretty because of their height, because frankly, that has nothing to do with anything. Your perceived beauty is a luck of the draw. There are less attractive tall women due to sheer numbers, as most women are not tall. I model photographic and catwalk, and yes, you definitely have to be tall to model that type, above 5.9 is the requirement for those, 6ft is ideal. i dont do victoria secret though, and its for personal reasons. my body is for my man, and myself, so i do photographic, catwalk, sports and everynow and then catalogue. no glamour for me thanx.

I love snuggling against men's chests when they hug me and they keep me cozy and warm with there arms around me since I am short 5'2! I am one of the few lucky people who were brought up to believe their height was an asset.
I am a model, and being very slim, in very high heels, pulls off designer lines a petitte 5.2 will never even dream of carrying off. Catwalk models have to be NO LESS than 5.7 inches (even then thats short by supermodel standards - 5.9 minimum carries off good lines)
one good thing though, men do like short women and i think it looks and works better anyways, however of the men left there, there are still those (and quite many) who like the model types.

i think i'm about the same height as her. i do exactly what mattiew mentioned and i downplay my height. i slouch a lot and wear very flat shoes bringing my heiht down to 5'10ish then when i'mm fully upright i'm 6'. i tend not to wear shoes with any sort of heel, but if i wear trainers or well made shoes with low heels, my posture is corrected bringing me to around 6'2".

In her prime, I have no problem saying that she was 6'. In "Alien" she wasn't too far off from 6'3 Yaphet Koto, and she towered over anyone else. In some shots she looked as tall as 6'2 because she was wearing boots a lot of the time. Even now, she still looks to be in the 6' range, I'd say today she is a solid 5'11 1/4 today.
