I was up for movies with major stars and when I'd walk in, [the actors] would sit down. It depends on the guy. People used to have a more idealized sense of what a couple should be - the man taller, the woman smaller. I am about 5 feet 11. It's never been a problem in any of the jobs I've done. I did a movie...with Mel Gibson, and I'm sure I'm a couple of inches taller than Mel, but he's so secure it was never an issue.

I was christened Susan but for some reason I thought I was too tall for the name — I was already 5 feet 10 inches when I was 12 years old. So I just took Sigourney out of a book by F. Scott Fitzgerald and I don’t know how, or why, but I just kept it.

That’s hard to compete Weaver has always seemed to give a genuine taller impression than Kidman, I’ve always been struck by the latter as a somewhat strong 5’10”, whereas Weaver was often listed as six foot back in the day, although her own claims were more accurate.

Amazingly, Nicole Kidman and Sigourney Weaver are the same height even though Weaver was a taller woman in her youth. I thought, by now, Kidman would have lost a bit of height since she's in her 50s (54) and Weaver is in her 70s (72). I suppose that 54 is not a height where someone will lose any noticeable height compared to their 20s and 30s.

Now, taking her 1.5-inch footwear advantage into consideration, she is likely gaining 1-1.25-inches because I assume she is wearing heels, thus she is likely not any taller than 5'10, possibly even as low as 5'9.75. I would say is 1.75-2-inches taller than Rob.

Okay, so I tend to go off on odd tangents. But really, consider the character of Princess Leia in Star Wars, who is this short, rather plain-looking woman, who has been captured by mass-murdering space Nazis. Does she display any fear whatsoever? Nope. She defies and insults her captors and, when Luke, Han and Chewy come to rescue her, she insults them, and proceeds to give them orders. She never says thank you, or expresses admiration for their courage. She even mocks Luke's height, even though she herself is knee-high to a baby peanut. And the whole time she does all this, she is wearing a floor-length dress. Sexuality is only one aspect of human personality that Star Wars characters lack. They lack most of the other ones too.
Ripley in Alien is left in charge after the captain is captured by the alien. She shows fear, anger and doubt, and at one point is on the verge of tears with frustration. In the end, when she is trapped in the shuttle with the alien, she visibly struggles to keep from giving way to terror. The character of Ripley is not written in such a way that she could have been masculine in the original script and played by Clint Eastwood. Also, she's big and strong, which gives her the necessary physical authority to give orders to the other characters, including the huge and powerful Parker (played by the huge and powerful Yaphet Kotto.) So there's a lot of real humanity in Alien, where there is virtually none in Star Wars.

Nowadays female heroes are so tough that they could all be played by Charles Bronson, just by changing the name and sex of the character, which is pretty unrealistic, in my sexist view.

Although I'd actually give her a bit over 5'11" even assuming I'm right about Gibson being 5'9" flat peak. I am just over 6'0" (measured 2 years ago by my doctor). I have stood next to Sigourney at the same event. I had flats with about an inch of sole. She had heels. I was at least 2" taller. I was really surprised. I would say she's currently 5'9". She is stunning and so graceful and lovely.

She was on The Defenders (A superhero team comprising of Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil, and Jessica Jones within the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and she towered over... what's her name, she portrayed Elektra, Daredevil's love interest on the Netflix show. The reason I mention it is she seemed to be saying she was 3" taller once, but didn't finish her sentence and Mel implied she was 3" taller. I'm fine with 5'11" for Sigourney and 5'9" for Mel then, but considering he looked to have a minimum 2" footwear advantage and still struggled to look as tall, I do believe she could be rounding down slightly.

I just find her comment about losing roles very strange. In the 80's and 90's you had alot of actors who were over 6 foot, no need to wear massive heels all the time. Nowadays i would understand as alot of the big blockbuster actors are under 5'10 even.

I always saw her listed at 6' which I always thought too high yet she looked it compared to Yaphet. I agree with some of the comments below I can see how a lot of guys would feel very intimidated by her even taller guys and women too, She is a very powerfully built woman and I bet she could kick the arses of a lot of guys. I saw her in ghostbusters years ago and didn't realize she was so tall. Maybe the ghostbusters are all tall guys. I had the impression she was only average height in that movie, like 5-6 or 5-7. There is marked tendency, in this website, to give women much more credit than men as far as height is concerned, it is generally assumed that men care more about height than women do, that women "have no reason" to lie about their height, that they even try to diminish their height... There are many examples in this website that contradict this. Another thing that people don't seem to get notice of are the biological differences between male and female's builds: the longish silhouette that is proper of a woman's buid, not that of a man, usually leads people to believe that women are taller than men who in reality are about the same height. Consider this: when we see a 1.80m man walking down the street we don't take notice, it's a "normal" guy... but when we see a 1.80m woman it is always quite a sight, they look enormous. That is probably one of the reasons why there are so many overlisted "tallish" women in this website. I know that because I measure these regularly, and they usually turn out to be shorter than they first appeared to me... with men it is (usually) the opposite.

Heels are easy to see and they give much less height than one believes, whereas lifts can be hidden. That, and most men in Hollywood period are overlisted. One picture doesn't necessarily prove anything, especially when pictures can be photoshopped to make the man look taller than he actually is. The most popular pages on this site are regarding Hollywood men whom are all lift-obsessed. Brad Pitt is a prime example. If Brad is taller than 5'11" (if he is 5'11" which I doubt), no way can Gweneth Paltrow who's no more than 5'9" be virtually identical in height to him. So please, spare me.

I'm fairly sure that this website UNDER-lists the heights of men who are considered good-looking, and OVER-lists the height "tallish" women. Look up the Nicole Kidman's page here, there are some like-opinions there. There's one reader who says that Nicole looks smaller than Brad Pitt whether she has heels on or not but still she is listed at only 1 centimeter shorter than him!!! Look up the Brad Pitt page also, there isn't an hour that goes by without some guy asking to take an inch off his height, lol! There are other actors that are under listed too, but not many actresses.

Sometimes it baffles me when people either bash tall or short people (men and women) because they either have a complex or whatever. However, Christie while I am certainly not suggesting--as some have--that you belong in an institution, i seriously think you need to get off your high horse (no pun intended).
