How nice is that? He looked near giant status in Candyman, which I saw at the pictures. That film started my fanship of the work of Clive Barker. I remember seeing Clive being discussed on an evening show, and Stephen King was mightily impressed. You can’t get better than him for a good horror recommendation. He’s the King of the horror genre after all!

He never really seemed that tall to me as a kid, yet now I can see he's gigantic. After watching 'Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh' he towered Kelly Rowan, mostly likely she was in flats and Todd in lifts to appear more intimidating. She's listed here as 5'6" so he's likely 6"6" in that film.

Now at 67 he looks to have shrunk some. I guess he's under 6'5. Most likely 6'3 now. His voice is still hauntingly soothing.

Chris Junior Hernandez 1990, he was easily a legitimate 6'5'' guy. Let's not get things twisted. I don't think many people would have doubted that in the 80s and 90's. It may have been more of a conversation as to whether he was taller than that. He was always described as huge, due to his built, too. I can't see him being any lower than 6'5.25" during his prime.

He towers over Xavier Samuel, the 5ft8.5 main star of the film. TT looks 6ft5 in this, no quibbling!

@ Sandy Cowell - I am not surprised that Tony was all three of those things in the original "Candyman", that is, huge, menacing, and infallible! Even though he is slouching Tony looks huge in the picture above with Rob, who is average height! There can't be many horror actors taller than Tony Todd, I bet he looks huge in "Wishmaster" too!

It is dreadful that there used to be (and still is, but not as much.) racial bias and prejudice, I mean it is so horrendous that people were once treat cruelly because they had fallen in love with someone of a different skin colour. I cannot believe that anyone could be heartless enough to treat people like this and if all racial bias and prejudice was removed the world would be a much better place.

@ Nik - Added to that, Tony's 'Candyman' is an unrested spirit who's come back from the dead to seek revenge on those who killed him by covering him in honey and having him stung to death by bees. His crime? Falling in love with a white woman. It's dreadful that there used to be such bias.

The film is based on a Clive Barker novel.

I don't think Tony would have made such a scary Candyman at 5ft4.5! That sort of part calls for a tall actor. Tony can have 6ft4.5 and half-an-inch more for his peak.

Peak and current height seem reasonable. He appeared huge in Candyman but that could be the result of boots and camera angles making him look bigger. He also seemed pretty tall in Night of the Living Dead and was about the same height as 6‘5“ Derek Mears when they answered questions together.

I met him not quite a year ago, I stood right beside him and I definitely had to look up at him; I'm 6'1 for reference and he was wearing boots with somewhat thick heels. I'd wager the current 6 ft 4.3 without shoes is pretty close, definitely not under 6'4 I can promise that much.

I met him at a Comic-Con in Dallas back in '09. I have measured myself bare-footed and I'm 6'2" even. I have a picture with him in the same pose but he's less bent over because of my height. He's a rock-solid 6'5"! One of the few actors who has no need to exaggerate his height.

He is enormous, and probably has the bone structure of a lot of 6'6"++ guys... His hands are ENORMOUS, and he must weigh at least 250 lbs.

He reminds me of Michael Jordan and a lot of other basketball players... 6'5" or so, but with a wingspan of over 7 feet and hands like baseball mitts. Also broad and with a little weight is wide as a house.

Not only he wasn't nice , you could also tell by the picture I have with
him that he refused to pose with me and other fans who were there at that
time . Where as Syco Sid who was the WWF champion at that time was the total
opposit ! He didn't refuse anyone who wanted to take a photo with him even
though it was mentioned not to take any pictures or stop the wrestlers when
they were going for match for autographs . The ROCK was very nice too . But
at that he wasn't that famous .

Don't get me wrong I'm not questioning Robs ability to judge heights its just when I stand next to my friend in the mirror who is about 6'2" I'm only a little bit taller then his shoulder and I'm a strong 5'6". Rob is about 2 inches taller then me and this guy is supposably 3 inches taller then my friend something just doesn't seem right. I guess pictures can be pretty decieving. My other friend who is about 6'5" 1/2 is about a full head taller then me. I think I might just come up to his shoulder level. I guess if his shoulder wasn't slanted down it would nearly be as tall as rob but its hard to tell. I know this guy definately isn't 6'6" though, I would say 6'4" morning height.

i'm still of the idea that Todd is 6'4 or around 194cm he's tall no doubt, its just that probably the image with Rob was taken during the morning or afternoon so he was still 1 or 2cm above his average height.

The second picture shows Tony with (6'3) Kevin Sorbo. It's not a great pic and at first they seem to be the same height but,even though Tony is further back his shoulders are still noticeably higher,this guy is 6'5.

i love Tony Todd his presence in movies is uncompared got lot of charisma like Candyman and even the small part in HATCHET was still amazing.

he looks quite tall i recon in both pictures he's no more than 6'3.5 to 6'4 max

but one thing i can say he surely was 6'5 in his prime no doubt, the guy isn't young anymore and lost at least a couple of cm, this is something that shows more clearer on very tall people than shorter people.

ALPacino going from 5'6 to 5'5 isn't really noticeble most of the time, but a 6'5 going to 6'4 is easier to spot. IMO

..I am of average height..heighest recorded being 1.84m, And i once walked in to the music store where i was the absolute shortest of the bunch..The next shortest was the guy behind the desk, and he was at least 6'4" everyone else was taller, up to about 6'9"..I must have met the local basket ball team :?..These were the tallest people i have ever seen..don't recall ever seeing 6'10" or above, very rare.

The Man, for me it gets tougher to estimate height when they start getting to 6'7 and up even for me at 6'0 1/4. But the tallest I've seen was 6'10 which was a few different guys that height.

Not such a good photo for comparason. We are to guess how much he bends. This means since he stands at 6ft. 1 in the photo, we can thus give 1 inch for the tilting and probably 2 inches for the leaning. Conclusions? 6ft4.

I use to see this kid who was def 6'9-6'10 and went to a school that was up from my street so a few days out of the week I'd see him sometimes. One time at the train station I saw a guy who I swear was 6'9-6'10 too and he just towered over the entire crowd amazingly. I never seen anyone over 6'10 that I've estimated yet.

In a supermarket one time I was the tallest which was odd. LOL
But most of the time in a supermarket I'll see a few guys 6'2-6'3. That goes for department stores, toy stores, cloths store, etc. Here and there I'll see a guy 6'4-6'5 but 6'6 plus its pretty rare.
One time I was looking at magazines in the supermarker and I look to my left and see a very tall guy who I estimated had to be like 6'10.

I don't see 6'5 guys everyday, at a point for months almost everyday I did since I have a friend who is 6'5 but I do see guys 6'2 almost everyday though.

days , weeks even months passed with out seeing guys bigger than 6-5.in the course of a year i can count with only one hand without using most of the fingers guys that i see taller than me. This encounters are so rare that are memorable to me , i remember in what places this encounters happen.

Alex, if 6'5'' were only taller than 96-97% of men, that would mean on average, 3 to 4 men in every 100 you see would be 6'5'' or taller. That would mean if, for example, you went down town for a little while and saw - say just 3000 guys - 100 of them would be 6'5'' or taller. Obviously, a scenario like that is millions of light years from being accurate.

Being taller than 95% of guys does sound like an awful lot, but when you look at the maths of it, it's not near as much as it sounds. So, you can see how a height like 6'5'' would easily be in the 99th percentile. 99.something would indeed be the actual figure.

Look at this way: the 95th percentile for men is most commonly given as 6'2''. 6'1'' the 90th ... so, 6'5'' would be 99.something. Throw women and kids into the equation and you'd be taller than 99.999% or something like that. It's very accurate in my experience; I'm 6'3 1/2'' and I'm taller than 98% of men (without even including women) where ever I go, no problem at all...

wow i have all the Candyman movies trilogy in DVD, and never knew Tony Todd was 1.96cm, he is 3 cm taller than me.
