Canadian actress, best remembered for roles in films such as The Young Philadelphians, Night and Day and Dive Bomber. In a 1966 oakland tribune it described her as "5ft 8 and 3/4 inches tall barefoot" and mentioned that in many films "I never wore shoes on set"
. Although in a 1941 article she stated: "I always thought I was too tall tor pictures. I'm 5 feet. 7 inches,"
although in the book 'The Women of Warner Brothers' she said "At five feet nine inches, I was also too big."

Sometimes listed as tall as 5ft 10in. I think she was probably 5ft 9in or close to it.

...she just doesn't look this tall. Looking at the stills et al., Rob isn't more likely 5'7" was her barefoot claim and 5'8.75" possibly in boots or something?
Editor Rob: it's hard to tell, because as she said at times she wouldn't have worn heels...I know bogart could look noticeably taller than her, but then his footwear was always suspicious. Maybe I'll leave put her at 5ft 8 just now until I see some more of her.

Alexis was at least 5' 8" so the current listing is fine by me. Good actress and beautiful woman. Her husband Craig Stevens was about 6' 1".

Alexis brightened up any movie she was in. I always thought she was close to 5'9", which was very tall for an actress in the 1940's. Towards the end of her career she played 6'4" Howard Keel's sister on TV's "Dallas". Alexis' real life husband was 6'1" Craig Stevens.
