There was a question on Millionaire tonight asking which planet Gustav Holst didn’t compose music for in The Planets suite. The answer was Pluto, which wasn’t yet discovered when his musical masterpiece was written - in 1916. It was discovered in 1930.

I tried to find out Holst’s height and the reply was:- NONE!
πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ΉπŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

I wanted to write about him on the Historical Heights page. Fat chance of that if he didn’t measure anything! I won’t give up though….

On tonight’s Classic Millionaire, the Fastest Finger First question was: β€˜Put these actors in height order. They were a) Tom Cruise, b) Danny DeVito, c) Brad Pitt and d) Clint Eastward.’

Chris reckoned that it was fairly straightforward, and I think any visitors to Celebheights would be in full agreement. Of course the right order was b), a), c) and lastly the tallest was d) Clint Eastward. There’s a marked height difference between all four actors.

Chris gets 6ft2. He’d be between Brad and Clint, and rarely do you see a contestant taller than Chris.

Oh come on, Chris - that was a bit naughty of you! πŸ˜†

A lady named Kate, was asked who the brother of Castor was and she smiled, and Chris knew that she knew from her grinning face. He asked her, β€œWhat do you want to see come up?” The lady replied, β€œPollux!” 🀭

Of course, everybody laughed, but that was the whole point, wasn’t it, Chris? πŸ˜‚πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

⭐️ Castor and Pollux had different fathers.

Kate waltzed off with half a million pounds. Had she known that the wisest fool in Christendom was James the First, she’d have been the first contestant to win a million.

Would YOU trust a phone-a-friend who makes a grammatical mistake? Pah! He got the question wrong anyway, thinking that America’s first ever president was Thomas Jefferson.

It was, of course, George Washington. (Feb 1732 - Dec 1799)

6ft2, as usual. 😁

I’ve just watched a fellow called John on Classic β€˜Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ and he was up to Β£64K. Then he got stuck on a question about one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, which went read thus:

What was the Pharos of Alexandria?

a) A Statue, b) A Temple, c) A Lighthouse or c) A Tomb, and though I’m not sure if they were in that exact order, I think they were.

John decided to phone his Uncle Len, who was his wife’s biological uncle, as he was well travelled. On picking up the phone, and learning that John had Β£64K, he came out with, β€œYou’re JOKING!” πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Chris and the audience laughed, as did I, but had Uncle Len been so doubtful about my capacity for answering questions correctly, I’d be striking him off my Christmas card list for starters! πŸŽ…βŒ Lenny didn’t know the answer either, and I only knew because I’d come across it before and thought how odd it was to have a lighthouse sticking out of the sea in the ancient world.

The answer was c) A lighthouse. John decided to leave with the Β£64K. As Al Pacino would have said in β€˜Donnie Brasco’, he’s a Wise Guy!

I can’t see Chris any lower than a strong 6ft2, having seen that the average would suggest he’s a weak one. Rarely have I seen a contestant who’s taller or even of equal height to Chris.

This morning I knew the answer to the quarter million pound question……

BECAUSE OF AN EPISODE OF SOUTH PARK! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Yes, as soon as I Joseph Smith, I knew that the religious movement had to be the Mormons. The contestant phoned the correct friend. (The other guy was Brigham Young, and I’d never heard of him)).

The half million pound question was easy. The mother of Elizabeth I was Anne Boleyn but the contestant didn’t risk it, even after doing a 50/50. The other choice he was left with was Jane Seymour, who famously bore Henry VIII his only son, Edward VI, who reigned from 1547 until 1553. He was a frail child, dying at 16.

There’s a contestant on an old Millionaire this morning who wants enough money to buy her horse a horse box so that she can take her pet to different locations for rides. Chris asked the lady, named Sheila, β€œHow does he travel around at the moment? The roof rack?”

Now that would be a mighty strange sight to see on a motorway!

There was question on an old edition of Millionaire tonight as to where Mary Queen of Scots was born. Now that was easy, as there was only one Scottish town: Linlithgow. No WAY was she born anywhere in Europe, which is where the other options hailed from, all beginning with the letter 'L'.

Mary was brought up in France and stood approximately 180cm tall, a fact which all the historical films I've ever seen have overlooked.

There was a question on tonight's repeated Millionaire (on the channel 'Great TV', in case you're interested) which went as follows:-

Which profession is Nicky Clarke famous for?

The guy, Kieron, didn't know that it was hairdressing. I'm not surprised; he didn't have a single hair on his head! However, by asking the audience, Kieron sailed through to the next question as the vast majority of them sported fine heads of carefully cared-for hair!

Time for a rant: 😀

The other night on Millionaire, there was a question which went along these lines: "Which is the only occasion when alcohol is allowed in the House of Commons?"

I knew straight away that it was on Budget Day, having made enough jokes about it, but the bloke who'd won the fastest finger first, hence making it into the much-coveted chair didn't have a clue, so he asked for 50/50. The two remaining answers were:

1) At a State Opening and
2) On Budget Day.

He STILL didn't know 😣, so he decided to ask the audience. Now this really was crazy because EIGHTY ONE PER CENT went for the wrong one! It was so cringe-worthy that I went outside to feed my foxes a trifle early, and the first song that I decided to play was Jethro Tull's 'Thick As A Brick'!

Chris gets 6ft2. It's a rare occasion indeed that a contestant is taller than Chris, and if one is, he always comments on his stature, and I must emphasize that I've never seen a woman contestant whose even nearing Chris's height, though I do believe they exist! πŸ˜‰

There was a question on Chris's Millionaire-lovers' quiz tonight which was, and I quote, "In Greek Mythology, what was the name of the gods who were children of Uranus* and Gaea?"

"Pardonnez-moi?" I thought. "I didn't know you could have children like that!" 😱

In case you're interested, the answer was Titans.

I love watching Chris get all excited when his contestants win more and more money. He genuinely cares for them, but likes winding them up from time to time too!

Tonight, he had great pleasure in telling a contestant that he still had Β£32,000 - but then he added that he had ANOTHER Β£32,000 to go with it! The guy's face was a picture....

On an old 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' tonight, it was a Nurses Special. When I turned over from a stupid horror film, there was a young male student nurse playing the quiz game. When he marched off with his winnings, there was another Fastest Finger First and a nurse called Sandra O'Boyle won. Chris said '...and your a girl!" followed by "You're a woman!" etc. Yes, Chris, that was evident from the fact that she was below his shoulders in height, had girlie flaxen hair and spoke in a shrill voice.

Wasn't it obviously Edward VI, for crying out loud?

Well, she's just won Β£1,000, which isn't bad for a few minutes work. It's a shame that she didn't walk away with the Β£10,000 she'd accrued.

There was a question just now on 'Millionaire' about which vegetable is high in iron. The answer was, unsurprisingly, spinach, but it's a little known fact that the body has great difficulty absorbing the iron from vegetables. Baked beans (pulses) are different though. Spinach is choc-a- block full of vitamin C, which actually helps with the absorption of iron, so don't be put off; some of it DOES get into the bloodstream, and it's always one of your 5-a-day, a rule which I swear by.

It's easier to derive one's iron from meat sources, particularly liver. πŸ˜’ Even with the average iron tablet, much of the iron passes through, so it's best to get them from your doctor.

Mr Stankiervitch was about 2-and-a-half inches shorter than Chris, but a whole lot wealthier than he was to start with come the end of his innings. I would have put up with a bit of leg-pulling for that money! πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

Last night, I was watching an old 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?', when there was an incident of absolutely NOBODY getting a 'fastest finger first' question right! Chris literally Laughed Out Loud, especially as the question had involved the sequence of how traffic lights work, adding "If anyone doesn't know this, make sure they don't take you home tonight!"

It's humourous touches like this that make a quiz either watchable or not. Then the other day, a woman was overjoyed with winning Β£1,000, having just lost either Β£7,000 or Β£15,000. Chris gave her a kiss and said, "Ah, bless you!"

⭐️ The 'fastest finger first' flop almost certainly occurred in the same episode as the one in which Judith Keppel won her £1,000,000 with the question "Who was married to Eleanore* of Aquitaine?" which was, of course, Henry II.

Chris has always been very open about his height, and why ever not? He's a princely 6ft2!

Sometimes in the early hours of the morning, I catch a wildlife programme called 'Wildlife SOS' on Channel 5. It is narrated by Simon Cowell, whose enthusiasm for animal welfare (other than for dogs!) I learnt of through this very programme.
So far, I have never caught sight of Simon taking part other than by reading about the creatures, who are, as the name of the programme suggests, often in upsetting and worrying situations. This morning, however, I caught a glimpse of a very familiar - not to mention way above average height, blond-haired, male celebrity! It took a mere few seconds to realise who it was, and it was infinitely clearer to see his height than on his Millionaire-lovers quiz show!
I think the programme must have first been shown near the turn of the century; Chris's face was unlined and his posture was as bolt-upright as I have yet to witness, ever since he has been 'gracing' our screens!
This is by far the best evidence I have seen of Chris being 6ft2, and a strong one at that! I can imagine he wakes up at over the 6ft2 mark. Obviously, all this information will be applicable at the time that the programme was made, and now when Chris tumbles into his bed after a hard day's work, he will be of an age where he'll have shrunk a bit!
I still reckon he wakes up at 6ft2, and I'm hardly going to jeopardise the man of half an inch because he has the decency to give his time to a wildlife rescue programme, which I catch nearly 2 decades after it first went out! No way would I do that (if anything, it would work the other way, but I am not going to introduce my silly little foibles into my height estimates - that would be plain daft - and I am incredibly sensible! 😌
I shall stick with 6ft2 for Chris. πŸ˜‹
It might be worth mentioning that after that one guest appearance, Chris continued to actively support helping wild animals in peril. Now that IS worth bringing up as a nice little souvenir of his venture!
