I still think 6ft1 is fine for his peak. He looked it on Taxi and in One Flew Over...

I also watched Clue yesterday and agree with @RichardSpain that he looked about 183/4 cm in year 1985. Nowadays, he looks 179/180. Peak height I can believe 6ft 1 though..
Editor Rob
Lloyd was closer to 6ft in person the first time I seen him, but through 70 to 80 I think lost another inch, he looks more frail in last couple of years.

Same thing with George Romero, the 8-9 years between seeing him, he shrunk 2 inches and was very frail towards his last couple of years.

Taller than Andy Kaufman (very strong 6ft) on Taxi

You lucky sausages!

I'd love to meet Christopher Lloyd! What a master of an actor!

His laugh when he heard that noise of breaking free when THE BIG GUY threw that bathtub through the window! I join his scream EVERY time!

Yesterday night I was watching movie clue where mr lloyd is more or less young has 47 years old and he looks not more than 183cm. So, I doubt if this actor was a solid 185 or 6'1 feet. My guess to him is 183 cm in prime and maybe 180/181 cm nowadays.

A good actor excellent! well !Merry christmas to everybody and a happy new year especially to our friend Rob...

Alirealist, supposing you're referring to the BTTF skit in 2015, he was barely even the same height as Kimmel. Coincidentally, both men have in the past said they are "6 ft 1".

Lloyd when he was younger, yeah probably a quarter over 6 ft.
Alirealist said on 14/May/18
Taller than Jimmy Kimmel. And he has visibly lost height. 6'1 peak
is very possible.

Christopher Lloyd, being such a knockout of an actor, is one of just a handful whose tall height was overlooked by me because I was paying far too much attention to his brilliance to take it in!

Peak height - 6ft1
Today - 5ft11.5

He's not over 5'11" today.

It's not impossible for his peak to be just shy of 6ft 1.

Editor Rob: he might walk about shorter but still measure over 5ft 11.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 13/Dec/17
I'm not convinced he's lost 2in
Editor Rob: really has lost a chunk of height in last 10 years, I noticed the difference seeing him this year compared to 10 years ago.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 6/Dec/17
Back To The Future isn't a good movie to gauge his height at all because he deliberately stooped to look more convincing as the beloved doc...

Rob , would you say a 2010 Michael Biehn looked taller than LLoyd does now?
Editor Rob: yes, Lloyd has definitely lost an inch since the first time I seen him, but then given his age, it's natural he'd have lost that amount in 10 years.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 2/Dec/17
I just saw him in Cuckoo's Nest and he's by a long shot the second tallest guy there after the enormous Vincent Schiavelli. No question he was over 6ft...
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 2/Dec/17
Rob, is it believable that he's lost 2in?

He does look 5ft11 range these days but looking at Taxi it's obvious he was once 6ft1
Editor Rob: he looks barely over 5ft 11 now.
fisherman said on 17/Nov/17
It's tricky estimating his height based just on BTTF since he's mostly in scenes with Michael J. Fox who is in any case less than 5'7... There's a really big difference to begin with, whatever it is exactly. Also Fox wore Converse or something similar with basically zero lift and Lloyd wore those bulky boots with the lab suit...

I'd say peak: 6'0.25". By the way this is actually a nice example of realistic height loss, the listings, the pictures, the guesses. NOT 5 inches by age 50 like some people desperately claim on many pages here, but a sensible ONE inch at age 70. Today, now that he's almost 80, he's definitely lost a little more but about 2 yrs ago when he was on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show in that one skit he didn't look short. Probably still close to 5'11.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 6/Nov/17
Just saw an episode of Taxi and he's visibly taller than Andy Kaufman. Colberto I now think at least C for his peak. A rangy 6ft1.
Anonymous said on 31/Aug/17
Nowadays next to Rob and Jenny (174 cm) Lloyd seems still a strong 182 cm so probably he was in the 185cm o 6'1 mark when he was young.
He has a bad posture in some movies because he lives the roles very much. Excellent actor especially for comic roles. I'll never forget his best roles like Dr. Emmett in back to the future and Uncle Fester " The Addams Family"
berta said on 29/Jul/17
when i think of this guy and someone like kevin costner i actually believe there was really about 1-1,5 cm beetween them in reality. costner was probably more in the 186 cm range ore 2 mm under and this guy was probably down to 184,6 in the evening/ late afternoon. He could have been a full 6 foot 1 guy but i think 1/4 under this is better listing. I cant really see him taller than a guy like cena.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 21/Jul/17
Colberto I think C-D at his absolute peak isn't unreasonable. In the Taxi days he could look a solid enough 6ft1 guy. He always had very poor posture though and could come across as much shorter than he was. A is definitely a stretch

Re: My comment from the 4th June:
The young lad in the Christopher Lloyd film 'I am Not A Serial Killer' works in a family-run funeral business.
It was completely wrong of me to say that it was 'morbid'! The only thing that IS morbid, however, is the state of the bodies that have been brought in for burial. They looked liked they'd been autopsied by a first-year medical student on acid! I only realised the nature of the business later on in the film....
World Citizen said on 5/Jun/17
Looks 181 cm
Sandy Cowell said on 4/Jun/17
I said on 27th December last that I would be over the moon to see Christopher Lloyd in another - recently made - film! Well, I am doing just that right now! It is a black comedy about a young lad who works in his family's morbid, death-related business and instead of it turning his stomach as it would with most people, it seems to be doing quite the opposite!
Furthermore, there is a serial killer on the loose in his little town, which means more bodies are being delivered to his family's business for him to peruse in fascination!
Christopher is an old, happily married and respected member of the community, but he is an oddball! He also looks taller than ever, but then I did notice him wearing an extremely chunky pair of shoes, which probably elevate his height by some one-and-a-half inches, but not many old men would be fit and strong enough to wear heavy things like that, not to mention use the apparatus he is using in the local gym - and with such gusto!
No, all is definitely not right with Chris's character! I observed that he had his picture up - as an ageing student - holding a doctorate or something similar, so that tells us that he is intelligent, another box ticked on the list of requirements common to serial killers!
So is he or isn't he? I'll have to watch the rest and find out!
One thing I have found out though is that Christopher Lloyd is still making films for us, which I'm very happy about! He is also still fighting fit and doesn't seem to have lost much from his stature over time. I'm going along with 6ft now and 6ft1 for his peak. 🙆👍

he's not that short! Was taller than malcolm the photographer...not that much, but remember I am coming into photos and being able to see the photographer looking at the celeb and a side on view.

It's why I can see Tyson 1.5 inches smaller and Lloyd taller than the photographer...

I simply love this actor! Ever since I saw his laughing, eccentric, fun-loving character in 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest', I've been pretty much hooked on him! I will watch films I wouldn't usually see because he's in the cast!
I never thought terribly long and hard about his height, but it makes sense that he topped 6ft in his younger days! He looks very tall next to Fox (bless him!) in the 'Back to the Future' films, but in 'One Flew Over...' the only guy to really stand out on the height front was Will Sampson! Next to Will, everyone else looked small!
It would be great to see Christopher in another film in the not too distant future. He's ACE! 👌

Very under rated actor played a lot of roles some quite well and good comedian too.
He still looked nearly that in the 90s towered over lots of guys, even with his bad posture.
His lanky build lended to appearance of loft could look nearly 6 2 at times or 6 4 by mjf :@.

As I believe someone pointed out in this thread, Lloyd, as "Jim" on TV's "Taxi" once stated- on that famous episode that took place at the DMV ("Slow Down" LMAO)- his height at 5'10". Now granted, this was probably similar to Woody Harrelson as Woody Boyd on TV's "Cheers" stating his height at 6 foot, and similar to Ray Romano on TV's "Everybody Loves Raymond" stating his height at 6' as well- just served the purpose of the written episode of that series. Now let's all assume Lloyd is over 5'10", I just don't see him (even at peak height) at a solid 6'1" with no shoes on- maybe 6'-6'0 1/2"-?? There was a movie I saw him in with 5'11" John Ritter, and he looked about an inch taller, however if memory serves correct, he may have had cowboy boots on-?? And FTR- here are my estimates for the cast of "Taxi":

Judd Hirsch- 5'11" (sloucher, so may have appeared 5'10" in spite of his 6' official height)
Tony Danza- 5'9" (looked closer to his official height listing [at one time] of 5'10" on TV's "Who's The Boss" since mostly surrounded by women & children)
Jeff Conaway- 6'0" (character Bobby Wheeler usually had boots on and big hair which may have made him appear 6'1" or 6'2")
Andy Kaufman- 6'0"
Randall Carver- 5'8"
Danny DeVito- 4'10"

in the addams family series he looked something like 2-3" shorter than Raul Julia...for sure he's character (fester) required a terrible posture, because he's hunchback, but i think Lloyd was however shorter than Julia by more than a flat inche...
If Julia was 6'1.75-2", then Lloyd was 6'0.5" (for sure) or maybe 6'0.75" when was young, but not a flat 6'1". Today he could be in the 5'11.5" range.

For the most of his career he looks taller than a 6' one. In the family Addams's series he looks much taller than Raul Julia (6'1.5") because he isn't straight with his back...he has bad posture because his carachter (fester) is hunchback...
I think he was no less than 6'0.5" (with a good chance of 6'0.75") during 70-80-90's and today he's like 5'11.5".

Full 6'1" peak in my opinion. Watch him barefoot next to Vincent in Cuckoo's Nest. 3 inches shorter roughly. See him also in cowboy boots and a hat in Back to the Future III , gives the impression of 6'3"-6'4" in that film with the boots and hat.

I could see him maybe 1.5 - 2 inches under.

Thomas F Wilson has claimed 6'2 and 6'3, and is listed 6'2.5 on this site, so let's give him that. So from looking at him with the Doc I would say Lloyd would have been 6'1 or maybe a bit under.
Arch Stanton said on 26/Dec/12
In the fight scene interestingly the Doc looks a good inch taller than 6'3" Mad Dog, although his posture isn't great. but as I say in some scenes the Doc could look very tall and near 6'4". 6'1" add cowboy boots and the hat and long western coat and his build and long face I think which made him look as tall as that in the third film.

Strangely looks 6'3"-6'4" at times in Back to the Future III. Must be the effect of the cowboy boots, hat and long coat.

Looks 182cm nowadays. Lost an inch I think, I say 185cm peak.
Shaun said on 19/Sep/11
Stood ten feet away from him in Santa Monica pier during the filming of My Favourite Martian in June 1997. Looked tall, 6'1" range then.
Jake T. said on 18/Sep/11
On Back to the Future he did look between 8 or 9 inches taller than Michael J. Fox and he was about an inch shorter than Raul Julia on The Addams Family. 6'0 for him is ok.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 17/Sep/11

miko is right, he aged well.

183-184 peak (even when standing straight, he was clearly shorter than 187 Raoul Julia in the Addams Family movies)

181 now, still tallish

He still looks in his early 50's.

As for his height, still around 6'0, maybe a little under.

He's way older than he looks and he doesn't look 6ft(183cm) nowadays. 180cm-181cm tops now...

Met him in L.A. during the Taxi years. Appeared to be between 6'-6'1".
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 25/May/11
Cannot believe guys further down the page are estimating 6ft2...

Don't think he was quite 6ft1 at his peak...6ft0.25 or 6ft0.5 is more likely. Today he looks a solid 5ft11
James said on 21/May/11
maybe 182cm these days
Lenad said on 2/May/11
He was 6'0-ish in his prime. Today 5ft11 max

I met Mr.Lloyd in New Orleans in 2006. I'm 5'9" and my buddy is 6'1. We spoke to him for a while standing up. No doubt it was him. He right at my height, by buddy was 3-4" taller. Christopher LLoyd is no mre than 5'9.5" to 5'10". We must has spent to much time around Michael J Fox!
M2 said on 20/Apr/09
Christopher Lloyd deliberately slouched in his scenes with Michael J. Fox in the "Back to the Future" films to make himself look shorter...and so they could get them both in the frame! Donald Sutherland also employs this trick with much shorter co-stars.
T.J. said on 23/Mar/09
didnt look 6'1" around Michael J. Fox, more like 5'11"/6'0".
But I've seen plenty of films were he looks a legit 6'1"
Doug said on 8/Feb/09
Yes, 4 inches is extremely rare to lose. Hell Christopher Lee is still around 6'3" at the age of 85. If he'd lost 4 inches he'd be barely over 6 foot flat!! Clint Eastwood has probably lost the most height at around 3 inches, Hulk Hogan has lost a lot of height too, but with back problems/operations it is not impossible.
Doug said on 8/Feb/09
"He looks as if he just stepped out of a coffin - very scary, unintentional though"? LOL I know what you mean, could imagine him brushing off the cobwebs. Incidentally I saw Lloyd back in 1997 filming in Santa Monica or was it Santa Barbara, anyway the crew were out on the pier and I saw Lloyd who was about 20 yards away. Looked a little taller than 6'1" in my view in shoes from what I remember, quite a tall man, but barefoot is likely to be very accurate. Probably lost an inch now haven't sene him of late to offer an estimate.
NATE said on 22/Nov/08
Was he a nice guy, Glenn?
dude said on 25/Jun/08
4 inches in height r u jokin?..2 inches in a severe case n for most people an inch..otherwise wrestlers who normally lose 3 4 inches= would b 8 inches shorter than at tht age lmao ..4 inches the funniest thing i hav ever heard..
Arnie said on 21/May/08
Run for it Marty !!! About 6' now a days 6'.05 in the early 90s and 6'1 standing strait back in his prime sounds bout right.

Brother H.:
Very few men will lose 4 inches in their decade between 50 - 60 without some serious meidcal condition. Between 70 - 80 maybe buy four inches is a lot to lose, especially for a someone of average height (5'10ish).
My dad was 6'1.5" til was 72 and then he began to lose hieght fairly quickly. He's not much taller than me now (5'11.5") and he's 77.

My uncle is over 50, was always 6'3", still taller than me at 6'1" - he has lost 1" if that.
brother_h said on 7/Jan/08
ur jus upset coz im kickin ur ass in this thread.

men reach 50, they begin to lose height alot faster. by 60 they'll be 4 icnhes shorter. i asked my grand dad afew years back when i was younger and growing slowly. and he said "i was 5'10 and 260lbs when i was in my 20's, now im about 5'6 and 210lbs." he use to be a wrestler in ireland, autralia and finally new zealand. and he was the best arm wrestler, even beating world champions. well i think he said world champs or jus country champs

[Editor Rob: Lloyd still looks tall here, the angle is taking away a good 2 inches here.]

I live in Santa Barbara and have seen Christopher around town a couple of times (he lives in Santa Barbara). I was walking right next to him coming out of a movie theater a couple of months ago. I'm 5'9 barefoot and there's no way Christopher was over 6'. I would have judged him to be 5'11, and was surprised to see him listed as over 6 feet.
miko said on 5/Jan/08
Terrible angle and Glenn is closer, but Lloyd still looks 6"0.
brother_h said on 5/Jan/08
OMG!!!!!! this guy is my overall favorite actor, he is the reason i got into movies and acting and such. he is my idol! damn i wish i had ur job glenn.

this guy is said to have been 6'2 in the past. he looks 5'11 now.
Danimal said on 5/Jan/08
Man has he aged. He looked better as the OLD Doc from Back to the Future than he does now. I used to read that this guy was 6'1". He's 70 years old. I'm quite sure than he has lost some height. At least an inch.
Laura said on 5/Jan/08
he doesnt look 6 ft and a half in that photo! no where near it really
supes78 said on 4/Jan/08
I think he was around 6'1" in his prime easily.
Richard said on 4/Jan/08
I remember him standing next to Hulk Hogan in the movie suburban Commando. Hulk only looked like he had about 2 inches on him.
Maybe Lloyd was about 6'2 back then?
redrum said on 4/Jan/08
Hey Keishum, glad to see another Lloyd fan out there. I have all his albums, especially love his '93 Album :Christopher Lloyd Live In Moscow. His horn section is to die for.

This is a very bad pic to judge heights.
glenn said on 4/Jan/08
seemed 6ft.so he mightve shrunk a bit.heard he isnt around much and is usually difficult to obtain.bumped into him.
Random Person said on 4/Jan/08
Weird angle going on in the photo. Make Lloyd look small than he really is. I'd say if the camera were a normal level then there would be about a four inch different. It's possible he's shrunk a bit. I agree with Viper. He was probably 6'1" peak.
Keishum said on 25/Oct/07
Llooyd is my favorite singer he is about 5foot11
Viper said on 10/Jun/07
I just watched back to the future, he still gives me a 6-1 impression at least even though he was slouching so much with Michael J. Fox. Mostly because of his slender long body. I dont think hes quite 6-2 though.
Viper said on 14/May/07
He does look 6-1 to me.
phil said on 14/May/07
definatley at least 6'1'' maybe even 6'2'' but he is pretty slender. I met him in person on the set of a tv show he was doing in 2004. I have a picture of me and him if I can find it..
Alex P. said on 15/Mar/07
Yeah, in the commentary on the Back to the Future DVD, they comment on how Lloyd (whom Bob Zemeckis and Bob Gale describe as 6'2"-6'4", but this is probably their overestimation) would voluntarily slouch himself down to fit into the same frame as Michael J. Fox, hence the great job of making him look shorter.
Alex said on 21/Jan/07
He's def 6'0 plus. 6'1 wouldn't suprise me. Today he must have lost at least an inch of height.
gregor said on 10/Mar/06
What about when "Shep" (Hulk) is wearing gym shoes?
Jason said on 5/Mar/06
Hulk wore massive ''space boots'' in Suburban Commando.
Frank2 said on 3/Mar/06
I've met Lloyd and he's about six feet.
gregor said on 2/Feb/06
The 6'1" is an interesting call. There's an episode of "Taxi" where Lloyd's character is taking his driver's exam. When he gets to the height question, he says, "About 5'10"?" His cohorts respond, "Good. That's good." Should that be taken seriously??????

With all the flap over Hulk Hogan's height, go to "Suburban Commando" and compare the Hulkster to Lloyd. If 6'1" is accurate, then Hulk is in the 6'5" to 6'6" range!
Mr. Klaus said on 10/Jul/05
From IMDB

Director Robert Zemeckis said that while filming Back to the Future (1985), that Michael J. Fox was so much shorter than Lloyd that the latter would voluntarily hunch himself over in order to fit into the camera frame with Fox.
