Jason, I would say the only situation where they will inflate a boxer's height is in a case where the height is a marketable aspect, such as with Nicolai Valuev, who is most likely under 7' but is bumped up just for that marketing sake. I really can't speak for those other sports you list, other than attesting to your accuracy in saying that UFC does inflate heights, as I don't really follow any of the others.

I'll just say that the only discrepancy that you will find will be shoes on or off, sole thickness, and unit conversions to the imperial system. Of course, not all heights will be accurate but I got the impression you think this is like WWE, where everyone is much smaller than they are on paper.
I will probably be going to watch Wlad fight before he retires, and if all goes well i'll get a photo with him. I would bet he'll be noticeably taller than I am :)

The vast majority of the time when a celeb/athlete gives their height, it's inflated or actual. While there are, of course, some exceptions (Barkley ... though, I still don't think Rodman is taller than 6'6 1/4'') ... it's a pretty safe bet they're not undercutting themselves. I've always thought Wlad is 196cm/6'5 1/4'', like I said, and he pretty much confirmed it. Atoadaso saying a boxing billed height can't be inflated is just wrong, and this stuff about it being a medical measurement. Boxing is, and historically has been, the most crooked sport around lol.

I have personally sparred with 6'4"-6'5" boxers who have not had their heights inflated for the sake of show business, or whatever reason. One guy was about 6'8" at my gym, and I thought he was about 7' until I asked him, heh. I've always said Wlad is 196cm (6'5 1/4''). He isn't 6'7'', he even said himself that he's 6'5''. The reason Wlad appears taller against some guys is because their billed heights are inflated.

Adding to what Brah said, Conan has also mentioned on-air that his stage is slanted, so if you don't trust your own judgment of angles, you can take his word for it. :) The "ring spin" segments that aired during the strike are one example -- he points out that he needs to hold one end of the desk up in order to keep the ring spinning in place, because the desk is on an incline and the ring would otherwise fall off its edge.
It's very likely the desk area was intentionally built this way to minimize Conan's height, both to avoid distraction and to ensure that visiting celebs are not seen in unflattering light (appearing short next to Conan). It's only that one part of the set, though -- the rest is even.

we know that how?? have you measured both and can confirm 100% that conan is indeed taller than dwayne johnson, after all both men say they are 6'4, johnson has a little more going for him because he was actually listed in football with the miami hurricanes at that height, i can't seem to find a 6'4 legit sports listing for conan or indeed 99% of those on tv or in the movies :P

Did anyone see Michael Strahan last night on Conan's show? Strahan is a legit 6-4 and it looked like he had 3 inches on Conan. He made Conan look 6-1. I know thats not reality but it tells you how tall every guest looks on his show.

I have a boxer friend of mine who is 6'3 and 190 and pretty muscular. If you eliminate fat 200 pounds is a pretty strong weight. You cannot be skinny, 200 pounds and just 6'2 at the same time. Wlad Klitchko was muscular-skinny when he entered professional boxing and he was 6'6 and 190 pounds.

Conan grew that beard for a reason. I personally believe he is sick. I have noticed his cheekbones protruding for some time now. He has lost a considerable amount of weight. If he is only 178 nowadays, he was surely much heavier only a couple of years ago (190-210 pounds).

Leave the man alone. He is 6'4". He had 2" on John Goodman and has measured up to 6'4" to every tall actor and he has stated 6'4" about 2 dozen times since 1993. In fact, he has also stated taller. Those who say he is 6'2" are people who like to makes others shorter.

Cusack by the way looked only an inch or so shorter than O'Brien, taller than I expected. I thought he was only 6ft2, but he looked more like 6ft3-6ft3.5 with a pretty big build as well. He was wearing all black so that might have added to it, but he looked like he's put on some serious weight.

I've seen Conan in person 3 times as a studio audience member, and its hard to tell his height in the audience, but he doesn't look as tall as that claims. I remember seeing Liam Neeson (6'4") on Conan once and Liam said he's 6'4 and Conan said he's also 6'4", but when they stood next to each other Liam was clearly taller. I'd say Conan is 6'3" or 6'3 and a half AT MOST.

To the Serb poster / Croat poster... I was in Belgrade for a week last year as my girlfriend is Serbian and we were doing business over there.... I am 5-10 and to say that all Serbs are "tall" is quite a misnomer... yes there were taller people there, but lots and lots of guys in the 5-10 to 6-1 area... the women were maybe slightly taller than US women, but not much so. yeah Serbia has tall guys, maybe slightly taller than US on average...but from the tallest men in the world come from North Eastern Europe, namely Norway and Sweden.

I think Conan is more like 6'3, maybe a little over.
Morgan Freeman was on his show recently, and they look about the same height. Garrett was on his show last night, and Conan barely makes to Garrett's eyebrow. For a big guy like Garrett, that's gotta be a over 4 inch difference.

You guys are making a big mistake. When you study statistics you learn that the mean is not a good way of reflecting the variety of any set of numbers...only the average. Let me give you an example. Lets say there are six people in a room, three women, three men. The three men's heights are as follows:
Man 1: 190cm
Man 2: 199cm
Man 3: 195cm
And the women -
Woman 1: 148cm
Woman 2: 155cm
Woman 3: 153cm
The mean height would be: 173cm...but that seems somehow wrong because although its the average, it doesn't tell us anything about the real values themselves. That height is so far from the heights of any of the persons, so its value as a 'DESCRIPTIVE STATISTIC' is nil - it doesn't describe the values!! The point is ER is wrong when he talks about Norway and the Alps. Certain families of any race (certain african tribes for negros, and certain white families such as the serbs and croatians for caucasians) are known to have a number of 'outliers' when it comes to measuring heights...this means they have a great variation which places a lot of persons in the top range and a lot in the bottom. Other ethnicities of races are known for having less extreme measurements. Serbs and Croatians do in fact have less average heigh males than in Norway and Sweden, but higher readings for 'tall' and 'short' males...so the 23% over 190 for the Alps and 6% over 190 for Norway is actually a correct statistic despite their averages being only 7 cm apart. Don't let big words like 'mean' fool you...the mean is just one of many statistical tests, in this case, an irrelevant one!!!!

So fudge his height down a bit, so it sounds less like the Star going on his show will be dwarfed.
Same as in movie scenes where actors do not want a co star who makes them look like a kid.
So naturally, it would make sense for Conan’s stats to be fudged downward. Being a comedian as well, you do not want to look intimidating.

I've met a few people who are honest, but those people tend to be far fewer than those who exaggerate, I met a guy recently, who I was sure was going to claim to be 6'7", or some exaggerated height, but he said, 6'4". I was slightly taller than him, but it was nice to see someone being honest. On the other hand, I've met people who are my height ... legit 6'5", and they claim to be 6'7", or 6'8", and I've met people who are 6'1". maybe 6'2" with shoes, who claim to be 6'4".

Chris, I know exactly what you mean. I am a solid 6'3'', and there's shorter people who claim to be as tall... There are honest ones, too, tho. Like, when I was in HS, a friend, who was maybe exactly as tall as I was, said he were 6'2'', and I exaggerated my height to 6'4''. Today I try to be extra precise, and it's 6'3''. Maybe a bit taller in the morning, a bit shorter in the night. So, in the night, I might actually be a little less than 6'3''.
Chris, I know exactly what you mean. I am a solid 6'3'', and there's shorter people who claim to be as tall... There are honest ones, too, tho. Like, when I was in HS, a friend, who was maybe exactly as tall as I was, said he were 6'2'', and I exaggerated my height to 6'4''. Today I try to be extra precise, and it's 6'3''. Maybe a bit taller in the morning, a bit shorter in the night. So, in the night, I might actually be a little less than 6'3''.

In his interview with Barrack Obama, Obama said something like, "You don't see too many 6'6" guys with red pompadours over there." I also witnessed Conan reveal his height as 6'5" when he was being interviewed one time. Well, I don't think he's quite that tall, but he's definitely not under 6'4". I have a very hard time believing 28 % and 20 % are over 6-3 in height in the Dinaric Alps and Holland respectively. And it's surprising that there is very little correlation of forehead length with total height , many of the guys with big foreheads are'nt tall at all, and many taller guys have smaller foreheads
(although there is a fair correlation of face length, and therefore total head length with height) Anyhow, this forehead and eye level stuff
usually accounts for an inch max. Most people will have anywhere from 4.5" - 5.5" to their eye level.

As for upper body/legs, Khali and Big Show both have short legs and long torsos. However, them being wrestlers, I think it actually suits them more than the opposite (long legs with short torso).

My friend who is 6'5 is an easy 36 inseam but my other friend is 6'3 and a 32 inch inseam as he is more torso/upper body.

How long is your head in total? Mine is about 9 inches flat I measured it at. Take your barefoot height then take a measuring tape and see what height comes to the bottom of your chin and you should get it like that.

Alex, I mentioned some guy I worked with says he is 6-3, but he seemed closer to 6-4 to me. He might have been more 6-3 1/2 or a little over. I just felt like he was marginally taller than me. Sometimes Id feel taller though. We might have been the same height, but he just gave the impression of being taller then a flat a 6-3 most of the time, and he had a very broad build too.

I don't know, I watched that episode pretty carefully and Stern seemed about an inch taller. You have to remember that every time a guest comes in they shoot him from a low angle and behind the guest, so they allways seem taller then they really are.

Sometimes a stadiometer can be off a bit like 1/4-1/2 inch. It depends on how straight your head is or if the bar is on any slight angle it can make you taller or shorter. Last year I got on one and the doctor said I was 6'0-6'1 and didn't even give an accurate number, lol.

Cantstop, I agree that the shorter cast made Nealon seem taller. In fact, I though that made him look taller than 6'4. I used to think he was 6'6 or so. He does slouch a lot, but when he straighrns up he easily looks 6'4.

Nealon is definitely 6'4, and I think Conan truly is 6'4. I agree that while he can look a little lower on the show, tv and films aren't always the best way to judge height. I really do think Conan truly is 6'4.

If I see this guy who is 6'2.5 again which I will soon I should ask him how tall he is and watch him saw 6'4 still after getting measured at 6'2.5 barefoot at the doctors. Those doctor stadiometers aren't always the best to go by either.

Would be interesting to see the 2 together.

I am a legit 6'4" (193 cm) and i met Conan here in Italy last year at the RITZ Hotel, that day i had the usual flat shoes and he was going out of the hotel, amazingly i asked him if he's the real Conan o'Brien and he really was!
now, i was in flat shoes and he had the usual suite shoes and i can assure you he was about 1 cm shorter than me. i can absolutely state he is 1.92cm based on personal experience. 6'3 1/2 is his true height and he rounded it to 6.4" when anyone asks.
actually i think he really WAS 6'4", no doubt at all! but at this age NOW he must've lost something and went down a tiny bit.

There's no way Conan is 6'2. He's definately 6'4, Hasselhoff might be 6'5, he's one of those guys who look taller then they have been said to be. like Steven Seagal, and some shoes have thicker heels but still are not lifts or anything, maybe Hassellhoff wore bigger shoes? But then again, Conan has appeared taller than other guys said to be 6'4", like Goran Visnjic. So I guess he's 6'4" to the inch, but maybe not to the centimetre.

In the picture Rob submitted you can see where Conan's hair cut fades from a huge fluff to buzzed sides. Now imagine his whole head buzzed. Would Hasselhoff have atleast 2 inches on him? Their eye levels sort of speak for themselves.

WOW! He's tall! I was watching a preview of an episode with him and Nancy O'Dell (5'9.5" with shoes = around 5'11"-6'0" because she was about five inches shorter than him) I think that this height is correct, however, if Nancy was wearing flats then his height should be downgraded two inches.

When guests come out, the camera is usually behind them or close to them, so it tends to make them look taller next to Conan when they shake hands. I've noticed multiple times that 6'4"ish guests seem taller than Conan, but if they stand next to him in a more centered shot at the end, he is as tall or taller than them.

IM wathcing the show now and he is only about an inch taller then donald trump. I was judging his height from when they go to shake hands with the celebrities however maybe it is just a weird camera angle. also his hair does make him look taller
