This is not true... hes under 6 feet for sure every 6ft or 6ft+ actor he has been with is always taller thats not usually the case with someone who is a true 6ft

Well I think possibly Jake looks a little over the 5'11 (180cm) mark with Heah Ledger. But yeah he does not look a full 6'0 with Ledger and he also has a lot of hair advantage as well.

You can see in the photos from that event with Ryan Gosling the height comparison is all over the board from photo to photo. In that oft posted one, Gosling looks to have a few inches on Gyllenhaal I think because of his proximity to camera. In some, they look close to the same height but Gosling does look about an inch taller overall:

I can see why he gets away with saying he is 6 feet tall. I share a very similar build to him, and with decent posture can easily get away with looking 6 feet tall. I too round up to 6 feet tall as it sounds better and nobody notices the difference anyway. (i'm 180 barefoot)

Editor Rob I've read this thread for a few years and even when he was on Jonathan Ross people couldn't agree how tall/short he was. I think he did look a couple of inches shorter, so he very well could be under 6 foot.

Probably a 5ft11.75. He did look more like 183-184cm in Brokeback Mountain. He did look a lot taller than everyone else. Heath Ledger looked 1.5 inches taller than him. 187-188cm.

It seems like no one take into account the factor of wearing shoes when making comparisons. For this you'd have to consider that shoes probably add about 1.5 inches to your original height, therefore I'd say his between, 5'10 & 5'11, but definetly not 6ft.

5'11" at BEST. Never looks taller next to other guys we have almost legit heights on...
He is though very well proportioned which can make people tricky to size up (other examples include Clooney and Eric Bana - unless you have a good example standing next to them they could both easily look six foot exactly...)

Hi, Jake is currently filming a movie titled "Nailed" and I met him today. Im 6ft 190lbs and he is much shorter than I am with a smaller frame. I estimate he is between 5'8 and 5'10. He wasnt much taller than my 17 yr old daughter and she is 5'7.

he must of grown since donnie darko, because in donnie he looked on the shorter side around 5 10 , and he had a small frame too. in jarhead he looked like taller guy 6 ft 6 1 maybe, but he also put on alot of muscle as well. Lean and muscular people will look taller, while stocky will look shorter.

I'm 5'11 barefoot, and I ran into him at a starbucks in burbank and I was eye to eye with him he might have been a hair taller. Not sure what foot wear he wears. But i had some Basketball shoes on that put me at about 6 0.5, So IMO he is bare foot in the 5'11 to 6ft range.

I think that I can't notice the different inches between Jake and Heath Ledger if it's just 1 inch. But I clearly can see that Jake is shorter, so I say either Jake is below 6' or Heath's over 6'1.

He may not be 6' but when you make claims like 5'10 you make every other skeptic look bad. Jake's eyeline, on the show, was right at Jon's head - so if Jon is 5'6, then Jake appeared between 5'11" - 6' at most. This seems consistent with every other picture out there.

jake does generally look 6-0 and has the right build, but maggie should probably be upgraded. she looks 5-11 in those pictures. if she was 5-9 she would be 3 inches shorter than jake and barely looks 1 inch shorter than him plus she is slouching while he has relatively good posture

I wear a 36" inseam and I'm about 6'5". I can pull of a shorter inseam and I wouldn't ever wear longer than 36". Gyllenhaal must be disportionately long-legged for his height, which I've never noticed.

I'm a 5'8" woman, and my inseam is 32. A 36 inseam would be for a pretty tall person, I would think. Any guys here that wear a 36?
