American actor, best known for playing Spike on TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He said in an online chat with sabershadokat.com in response to the question "We're all debating between 5-7 and 5-8."..."Oh my god, I'm 5-10. Jesus Christ. 5-8!". His English talent agency listed him as "Height: 5ft 9in" and in 2020 when asked how tall he was by Michael Rosenbaum said "Five Nine". In this convention photo, he had a fraction more footwear than me.

Of the 20 or so buffy epis ive seen he was in many he looks 5 8 a strong 5 8.

Editor Rob he's a pretty fit guy so he might still be holding on...I wouldn't expect he has lost anything noticeable, but losing a few mm's in early 50's is pretty common. It's just not really noticeable until a bigger fraction.

My guess is 5'8" and that's from sharing the stage with him at a con in Baltimore. I was surprised how short he was - barely taller than my mom! Kind of pleased to see that I was so close to accurate.

Have to say that I agree with people who have given his height to be around 5 foot seven. My niece (who was sixteen at the time) had her picture taken with him and I was standing right beside him. Now I'm only five three and she's five one and he certainly didn't tower over us. I have to add that he was simply lovely, very polite to everyone and even chatted to my neice when the film had to be changed in the camera during her shoot. She even got a peck on the cheek, which she didn't wash for days!

5'7'' or 5'8'' max the guy looks, he did not look that much taller than SMG in buffy even with his crane like boots.

I know James from Buffy Conventions. He wears boots a lot, and was about 5'9 in them. So 5'7-8 is about right.

I have shared a stage with James Marsters (as a sign language interpreter at a convention) and I was rather surprised by how short he was. I would have guessed 5'8" but I could see 5'9" or 5'10" being accurate. He's much shorter than I would have expected, that's for sure.

Well, you know, when he's standing next to Nicholas Brendon he looks his 5'11'' that he was listed somwehere before. He's always listed as 6' or 5'11'' or 5'10''. Back in 2002 - I was 5'5'', just to let you know :D. - I read an article on an old Buffy-Page. Someone that that he met James and that he looks smaller than he does on TV... But I can't believe he's just 5'9.5''. I'm 5'9'' myself, I'm only 16 and I'm one of the smallest guys in my class. Don't ask me why. Most people here cut the 5'10'' easily, someone I know is 6'7''. But most of them are older than me.
So again, a thought. I'm 5'9'' now, my weight is between 120-150lbs. I know, a huge difference. James Marsters claimed to weigh in at 150lbs but that was when he was skinny. So he has to be taller. 150lbs are 68kg.

lol That's so true what Jake says, Tom Welling makes him look so tiny. But if you google "James Marsters Spike" he looks like a tough guy.
