The only way Connery was ever 6'2.5"... was with shoes on. As Rob points out 6'2.4 was "supposed" to be from a body building measurement. That's the only mention of that height I have ever heard. I've heard Sean say 6'1.5" with shoes on in the mid nineties... so that means 6'1" tops in his 60's. The most I would ever accept for Connery in his prime would be a weak 6'2".

Yes Rob you ought to place Connery at 6'2.5" (189cm) peak. The 6'2.4" is an exaclt peak measurement for certain. To me he still looks nearer 6'2" in his late seventies.

I worked on Entrapment during the Summer of 1998. When passing Sean Connery in the halls of Pinewood Studios, he looked much taller than I had expected. I was 20 at the time and just under 6'2". He looked a little bit taller than me and quite big! But that would put him at 6'2" even at Age 68.

A great actor named Alan Napier, Alfred the Butler in the 60's Batman series played the father of Connery in Hitchcock's Marnie. This guy was a genuine 6'6 tall and has about 4 inches on Connery. As this is circa 1964 and Connery would be 34 at the time I would say 6'2.5 is his peak height with very little difference even now.

Hugh I also thought Connery looked taller in Goldfinger too. On the golf course I thought he looked 6'3" and semed to have about two inches on 6'1" Gert Frobe. Perhaps he looked taller because of his tall slimmer build in comparison.

Well he was measured at over 6ft2 during his bodybuilding days according to his biograpy. He looked over 6ft2 in the Bond Movies and looked like he could pass for 6ft3 in Dr. No. Not saying he was that tall.

Overall, Infin I am happy with my height. At 190cm I am always one of the taller guys. The only thing that annoys me is that my brother and father are taller than. Adam i hate to be arroagnt but I have big, broad shoulders. I'm glad that I'm a little lighter than I was 10 years ago. I used to weight 230lbs of solid muscle. I now weigh between 210lbs and 220lbs. When people saw me walk into a supermarket they'd take a second glance or start eyeballing me. It was really awkward.

BruceWayne; he slimmed down a lot for Dr No but prior to that he was quite a bit bulkier. Remember he was a body builder. Check out D'arby O'Gill (1959) he was a fairly big guy in that. Fleming saw him in that and that's why he had the view of him looking like an overgrown stuntman.

You can't judge from those photos. The last one is the only one you can see their feet and (1) they're on a beach, ie not flat. (2) Camera is favouring Sean. You could take other stills from that film where there is only 1" diff. Inconclusive for me...

Well I remember clearly on Jay Leno. He said he was 6'1.5" depending on the state of his shoe leather. So by this time (mid '90's) he must have been below the 6'1" mark (~6'0.5" + 1" for shoes). The internet is full of untruths. 6'1.5 is a possibility for him at his peak but I wouldnt go less than that. I agree with Rob he is 186cm nowadays.

Ok guys explain to me why he would say when asked about his height during his Bond days, that he is "6 feet 2 inches, well ok, actually about 6 feet 1 and a half inches really." I think that proves he knew his height accurately. That's what I'm defending my argument on and also visual evidence and Bond tailor measurements also verified by Eon.

Okay 6'1 is too low for him in his prime I will admit that. He did give the impression of a solid 6'2 if not a bit more back then. I wouldnt go as high as 6'3 though.

Look at the untouchables, one inch or maybe more taller than 6'1 Kevin Costner. Looking the same than 6'2 Gene Hakman in a bridge too far. And now, taller than 6'1 and a half jim carrey. He was at least 6'2 or more and now, 6'2 or close. I think that you are the one who should judge better the heights.

If he does not stand next to someone one could think 6'1.5, but seeing him next to others it's clear that he was easily 6'2.5, if not more. He's probably more than one inch taller than Roger.

You should notice that he looked an inch taller than Kostner (6'1) while he was an old man (Untouchables), or at least in an age in which he probably lost some height. 6'2 as old man, he could have easily been 6'2.5 in his twenties.

The very most I can accept for Connery in his prime is 6'1 2/3" (187 cm). I don't know where this body building height came from cos I can't find any reference to it anywhere. Connery, however did say himself he was 6'1.5" in his prime. Every film I have seen him in he hasn't looked any more than this. Until you can come up with documented evidence to say otherwise then that was his height.

As far as I remember he once said 6'2.5. And the Bond producers first did not want to engage him as Bond because he looked like an oversized stuntman. And there are tons of pictures in which he is clearly taller than Roger Moore. If Moore was 6'1.5, 6'2.5 for Connery is the least measurement (barefoot).
