Why does he look only 2-3 in taller than weak 5'8" Downey on "Chaplin"? Lifts?
Bud says on 22/Mar/14
I've hung out with Dan Akroyd and used to hand out with John Candy back in the Toronto days and both guys were bigger than average thats for sure. Dan is easily 6,1" and Candy was id say a bit taller around 6' 2". Never met Murry but I did know Chevy when I lived in LA and he was tallest of that group around 6'4".
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover says on 1/Mar/14
He could be down to 6ft0.5-6ft0.75 range.
No way 5ft11.5, though
Dom says on 28/Feb/14
Yeah Aykroyd looks a bit shorter than Murray in Ghostbuesters, I would say lik 184 if Murray is 186.

Rob, is there a chance he may have been a fraction over 6ft1 in the 80s?

Didn't look much shorter than John Candy or Morgan Freeman
[Editor Rob: an honest 6ft 1 I think is fine for him]
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover says on 12/Dec/13
Could he be a little less than this today, Rob?

He's 61 and I got the impression from that interview that he may have had neck surgery...
[Editor Rob: he could certainly have dropped half inch]

Rob, at 4:27 Aykroyd says he's 6ft1. You may want to add that quote?
[Editor Rob: good spot Rampage...]
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover says on 9/Dec/13
"Peak height was 6ft 1.5in (187cm)"

Wasn't much shorter than 6ft2-6ft3 range men, like John Cusack, Harold Ramis, John Candy and Morgan Freeman.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover says on 12/Oct/13
Aykroyd looked barely shorter than Freeman.
Arch Stsnton says on 3/Oct/13
6'2.5" peak Morgan Freeman looks two inches taller in Driving Miss Daisy.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover says on 1/Oct/13
Rob, who do you think was taller at their peak, Aykroyd or Murray?
Arch Stanton says on 29/Sep/13
Hang on, I thought he was shorter than Bill Murray in Ghostbusters?
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover says on 17/Sep/13
Lol, Aykroyd looks about 5ft11 in that pic.
But, Viper is that Charles Johnson guy actually listed 6ft2 or is that just your estimate?
James Crowley Maximus Meridius says on 10/Sep/13
Rob he is 61 and still hasn't lost any height how is that possible men by his age would have lost height even at 55 56 57 58 59 and 60 he didn't lose any height do you think he start too lose height soon he might go down too 6ft 0in maybe even 5ft 11in maybe even in like 4 years time he start too lose height like an inch or two.
[Editor Rob: he could have lost a little by now, I've not looked at him for a few years]
Viper says on 23/Aug/13
6'2 Charles Johnson with Aykroyd. Click Here
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover says on 31/Jul/13
Both Murray and Aykroyd are/were 186-187cm
jtm says on 30/Jun/13
same height as bill murray. 6'1 is accurate.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover says on 27/Jun/13
Peak height was 6"1.25"(186cm). In Dragnet he's 1-1.5in taller than 6"0" Tom Hanks.
Might be 184-185cm range now though.
Jake: 1.83 m- 1.85 m says on 5/Apr/13
Could he be nearer 6ft flat today?
mcfan says on 30/Dec/12
If Aykroyd was 5'11 in Trading Places, then Murphy was 5'7. lol.
James says on 25/Dec/12
Looked at 5'11 at times in trading places
mcfan says on 19/Dec/12
Aykroyd is closer to the camera in that photo.

Harold Ramis was about 187cm. The other two were an inch shorter.
Brad says on 24/Nov/12
Not too sure about footwear, but in Ghostbusters looked the same height as 186-187cm Bill Murray
mcfan says on 31/Oct/12
I hadn't seen Driving Miss Daisy in many, many years. I thought Freeman was over an inch taller than Aykroyd, but I'm only going by memory of a film that, in all honesty, I don't remember that well.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover says on 29/Oct/12
Well if Freeman was 6ft2.5(189cm) in Driving Miss Diasy then Aykroyd was 187-188cm in comparison.
mcfan says on 20/Oct/12
Morgan Freeman was 6'2.5. I do not think he was only 6'2...even though this is what he says.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover says on 26/Sep/12
I think 6ft1.5(187cm) is possible or at the very least 186cm. He was easily around Murray's height and stacked up well next to legit 6ft2 guys like John Candy, Harold Ramis and Morgan Freeman. He towered over Adam Sandler in 50 First Dates. Still around 6ft1 today
mcfan says on 4/Sep/12
If Aykroyd is still 6'1, I'd be slightly surprised after all of his knee surgeries.
hgyg says on 28/Jul/12
In The Great Outdoors he looks virtually the same height as John Candy, who is listed as being 6'2". At the most he looked 0.5 in shorter, Candy was a strong 6'2" so I think at his peak Aykroyd was around 6'1.5".
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover says on 25/Jul/12
Peak 187cm, Today 185cm

He turned 60 recently, so there's a strong chance
he's lost a wee bit
jasperwazup says on 5/Jun/12
In My Girl the actor Richard Masur who plays his older brother looks an inch taller than aykroyd. Masur is a legit 6'1'' i'm pretty sure or was. Aykroyd was 6'-6'.5'' nowadays a little under 6'.
JohnnyRB says on 27/Jan/12
Please Rob, tell me why would a 6ft1 guy wear lifts? Everyone is in sneakers, but Aykroyd is the only one who wears high heal shoes.

In this movie they have the same footwear and onestly the diffrence between them is significant, i guess somewhere between 9-10-11 cm. Thats why i belive that Aykroyd was no more then 6ft in his youth.
