I’m a solid 187 cm, and I’ve stood next to Jeremy Irons several times in New York (apparently, we live in the same neighborhood—or he visits the Upper East Side frequently). He was definitely not at all significantly shorter than me. In fact, I could say that we are the same height. Recently, in fact, I was in the Ralph Lauren shop and found that I was actually one of the shorter men in the store; I walked in and everyone there (including the staff) seemed to be towering over me. After rewatching Kingdom of Heaven, Irons and Csokas go back and forth. They both look to be about 6ft1, maybe 6ft1.25. Irons looked a good 2 inches shorter than David Thewlis(6ft3) who looked to be almost exactly the same as Liam Neeson(6ft4), which confirms my suspicions that he's shrunk a bit despite his poor posture. Also Thewlis looked to have 5 inches on Orlando Bloom(5ft10.25) who looked to be about 3 inches shorter than Irons. Just based on the movie, Rob's listed heights work pretty well for Irons and the rest of the cast. 5'11.5 guy says on 18/May/07

Just saw Kingdom of Heaven, and something is off here, because Irons was taller than the 6ft2.5 listed Marton Csokas. I've beem suspicious of his height since the Lord of the Rings movies in which he was only a few inches taller than Cate Blanchett, and the same for Aeon Flux with Charlize Theron. I'm starting to think Csokas is 6ft at best, which would put Irons at around 6ft1. He did look only about 2.5 to 3 inches taller than Damon, in Bourne supremacy. Anonymous says on 28/Sep/06

You reckon Pierce Brosnan rounds up haha, Mate for one Pierce says his 6'2", and I reckon he rounds down, from my personal encounter with him. Tom hanks in photos with lots of actors looks more then 6'1", he was bigger then Adrien brody and Daniel craig , so I think that unless you know a star personally, you cant judge their honesty haha. I took the opportunity to finally get a really accurate reading on Jeremy's true height. I realized Jeremy was somewhat taller than I always thought. Mr. K I like your theory! And I agree that many guys listed at this height do round up, as I have found from personal experience. I'm exactly between 185-186 cm and find that many celebs and even sports stars round up slightly by about a cm or two. Harrison Ford is another example, as is Edward Norton, and Tom Hanks (never met him, but he doesn't quite look 6'1" to me) are also examples. One guy to me, from personal experience, that our editor lists as being 6'1" who is definately taller is Daniel Baldwin, whom my comparison to Stephen does have being an inch taller. My encounter with Baldwin has him at a solid 6'2", you can even see this relative to Cole Hauser in Parazzi. |
