It just irks me when grown people feel the need to lie about their height. I can understand if someone says they're 5'9 but really 5'8 1/2 for example. Piven ought to ashamed of himself for claiming 5'10 when he never looks anything above 5'8 (unless if he's in some good pair of lifts). Definitely a flat 5'7 to 5'7 1/2 at best.

I can't find any mention of Piven's appearances on Ellen in this thread. Ellen is listed here 5'7" and claims 5'8". Piven was definitely taller than Ellen, not by much, probably an inch. I try not to assume that large shoes are lifts, I was actually referring more to Piven's visible heel than what's inside the shoes. In the last picture they look like 2 inch heels while Macy seems to be in normal dress shoes.
Just the difference on the heel alone as well as the fact that Macy is still a little taller makes me think that even Macy at 5'9" would make Piven 5'7." max IMO.

Alright, I stand corrected. I still don't understand why it would matter though. Honestly, your life is not going to be any different as long as you're confident about your height... Unless I'm wrong about that? Okay, granted if you're 5'1 and male, that isn't great but the world isn't ending. I have a friend that's 5'7 and all he ever does is worry about his height and complain that his father is 6'3 and that he's short, yet he gets everything he wants from girls to success because he stands tall and is the most confident (and possibly arrogant) guy I know... So tell me why does it matter?

I know for a fact that Jeremy Piven is NOT 5'9". I'm from Chicago and I ran into him during a filming of a short-lived US series entiteled "Cupid". Jeremy played a cupid hunting for game... dumb premise. Anyhow, I was trying to cross an intersection and Jeremy was filming a scene and his goons pushed him past me and Jeremy had visible lifts in his shoes (and they were comical). His heels were huge. I'm 5'9" and despite said lifts, I was able to look down on the top of his shiny scalp. By the way, he had lots of that tinted scalp shellac on; the stuff that's supposed to hide baldness. My brother and sister-in-law were with me while this all transpired, and we all commented on how odd the little guy was. He was all sheepish and weird, and he seemed just plain goofy with the scalp paint and elevated shoes and all. My guess is that Jeremy Piven is about 5'6" or so, because I'm no giant and I felt like he was a lillaputian next to me and I'm only 5'9". J. says on 6/May/06
Okay, I'm a few months late but that clip of Piven on the red carpet is the greatest! I love the way the interviewer gives that knowing "he's so full of s***" smile and quickly changes the subject. The best clip of an actor flat out lying about their height to an interviewer and interviewer subtly catching them in life since Matt LeBlanc with Katie Courcic on the Today Show. Ironically, he also claimed 5'10"!

How do you know Hoffman isn't wearing lifts or anything in that picture? Just seeing somebody in a store isn't an accurate measure for telling somebody's height. Depending on build, frame, how long somebody's legs are in proportion to their body, their height can look two or three inches more or less than it really is. He looks "short" in the sense that he's under average, but jeez, he looks nowhere near 5'4 or 5'5. That's ridiculous. I'm about 5'8.5, and sometimes I wonder if I were a celebrity what ridiculous height you people would be giving me. "No, I saw him at footlocker, 5'8 is way too generous, he's 5'5, 5'6 tops". He looked extremely short in Serendipity. I guess it depends on how tall John Cusack is. He's listed as 6'2 here, which seems about right as he does look that tall.
