lol@mId and the others who moan about height. In real life people could care less about a few inch difference. It doesn't matter if you are 6'5 if you look like a concentration camp victim. I know a lot of guys who are that tall and are quite frankly all bone. They cannot even wear tshirts because their arms are just too skinny. I know most short guys at my gym who could break most people in half and look way more manlier. Oh and I'm 6' by the way, just in case you accuse me of having a complex.

Cro Crop probably just measured his height and got 186cm, He is likely in range of 185-187 but ufc rounds him at 6'2-188, It is not him who does it, It is the ufc, they also have Shane Carwin at 6'5 which is silly, They asked carwin himself and he said he is barely 6'2, which means he is a solid 6'1 maybe, weak 6'2- 186-188.

He looked like 3-4 cm shorter than Crocop - with his shoes on, who knows what kind of shoes. Can't remember how tall Crocop is compared to Fedor, but I have a pic with Fedor and Igor, and the shortest height that was given to Igor during Pride fights was 173 cm, and Fedor was about 5 cm taller, so about 178 cm. I remembered Crocop being like 185 cm, but obviously he's shorter then. Still I'm ready to believe that 5 7 1/2 (aka 171,45 cm) for Rogan, unless he used some kind of lifts.

Most people are actually shorter than they thought themselves. (Not to mention claimed) There was a doc where extreme tall people were measured, and they were often told to be several inches less than they thought.

So, if Joe had 1,5" heels, Crocop was only 179 cm max. Cant believe that. Maybe Joe had some kind of early 70's glam rock boots? (My guess is Joe is really 5 8.5 like he said, but those heights, even if accurately measured, can be from one's youth and measured in the morning. Also some people stand more crouched than others)

then I should be called tall here.. I'm not. I'm average. 5'10 here is the lower end of average I would say.. if you are under 5'10 you are always looked at as short. Like if someone describes you to another.. I know one guy who is 5'8 and he is seen as VERY short. that's the way it is.. don't matter if the average would be 5'10.. people still consider it short. it just means there are alot of short people then :)

No it's not, m1d, 5'9 is the average for guys since that's was measured in most guys. Maybe you're not your height because you assume and not actually measured. I honestly thought I was 6'2-6'3 until I was measured at the doctor's.

well my friends who are 5'10 considers themselves short and jokes about it.. and like I said I'm short at 6'.. as I explained average does not really exist here anymore.. we just say 185 cm is tall.. under short. I mean I guess you could say 5'11-6' is average but then 5'10 is still on the shorter side.. and couture is not 6'2.. more like 5'11.. about the same as coleman.. shogun was taller than coleman and he's been listed as 182 for years. shogun is about 6' damien maia listed 6'1 (184cm in a fight in poland) is atleast 1" taller than shogun.. so don't really bother with the listed height.. all fighters add 1-2 inches.. and even more in some cases.. like listed 6'5 shane carwin.. he says himself he is 6'2.. but he dows not even look like it.. some people even say he is 6' but I can give him 6'1.

I met Georges St. Pierre at a autograph signing in Las Vegas and he is significantly shorter than me, like 5'8"-5'9". Does he look short to you, m1d?!? I'm 6'1 and from far away I swore he was being humble with his height as he is listed as 5'10 but he looked taller from far away. Then as the person in front of me took a picture with him standing up, I saw the top of his head as the same height as my chin. And I'm 6'1. I honestly thought he was as tall as me. It's the body composition, not how much they weigh if that's what you're trying to say.

Haven´t you heard of thing called average? Also saying that somebody looks like a boys just because they´re not tall is really insulting. I can see after reading what I wrote again that it was put wrong.. and you are right.. it didn't make any sense.. I meant I should be average to 6+ guys. but at the same time I was having another discussion about how here in sweden younger guys don't use a gray area.. it's just tall or short. so basicly 185 + is tall and under short. but how I would call it is 178 - 183 is around pretty average. under short.. over tall.. I used to say 178 is short but this weekend changed my mind.. friends of mine who are 178 for some reason looked much nearer in height to me than before.. in the past I thought they looked so small next to me. I still see them as on the shorter side but not as much as before. In sport terms they are still a little short but I guess I can bump them up to shorter side of average. but anyway you slice it.. 5'8 is still short. he'll I think I'm short sometimes. I too think 185 is tall under looks short really. it depends on the situation I guess.. I can feel tall sometimes and other times short.. but that's what it feels to be average ;)

um yes, under 5'10" is considered short if you are a white male. i have no height complexity and i very often feel kinda short (and i'm a short 5'11"). in different regions in North America I can feel a bit tall, others very short. on average, nothing more than regular average.

unless you are beyond normal range, height really only matters when combined with a number of other factors. if you are short and it bothers you, dedicate yourself at being above average in those other factors and you won't ever think twice about your height.

if you can't do that, chose one that you have control over and matters more in pursuits of successs.

if you can't do any of the above...smile, life is still beautiful and will be over before you know it anyways.

yeah.. I have a cousin at 6'4-5. another one at 6'3.. his brother and my rother are both 6'1.. ny dad is 6'0.5.. this is all before bed heights.. so at 5'9 here in sweden you will feel and look short.. no doubt. like I said.. when I go down to 6' before bed I feel and look short. I can't belive feeling average and not short at 5'9.

the average height for men (24 - 34 years) in sweden is 180cm (5'11) only the dutchman and the danish people are taller than the swedes..and that is a fact..

I guess people see it differently in America then.. like I said.. here we just say 185 is tall.. under is short.. the older generation. 50+ can say average build of 180cm sometimes. but the younger generation just looks at 180 as short. In k-1 (kickboxing) matches here.. the commentators will say stuff like.. at 183cm he's is really to short for this sport.. no joke. seems 6'1 is the new limit for being competitive. it's like when fighter Anderson Silva from brazil at 6'1-6'2 calls matt hughes at 5-8-5'9 a dwarf. Clay: if everybody knew that you shrink up to 1" and it was common to measure in the morning (just like it is with weight) then I would have no problem claiming 6'1. this is not the case now though and people measure at different stages during the day.. and if I take my lowest then atleast I will never "add" height. thing is.. there is a limit as to how low you can go.. it's not like you keep shrinking.. you shrink one 1" tops. I can see both arguments when it comes to true height.. but for me.. I feel better claiming what I am at my lowest (because I can be at my lowest very fast if I lift heavy things or something directly in the morning) so I will never be measured under what I claim.. and the extra height is just water in the discs before it gets squished out during the day (simplyfying it).. so I consider this bonus-height. so it makes perfect sense to me that we should take evening height. I don't even like when people stand in like "attention" when they measure. it's ok to straighten out.. but some people do it just to get taller than they are in a everyday standing situation. but hey, that's just me.. I don't like to cheat myself :) see.. another problem with this is.. my brother is 1" taller than me.. and for some reason.. he don't shrink during the day.. he is maybe a little taller in the morning. in the evening we are one inch apart.. should I really claim we are the same height just because we are the same height in the morning? because as the day goes on the difference between us is getting more and more evident.

Joe probably wears lifts so no ones know his real height to be fair. That's why he probably looks short one day and tall the next. I saw him one time on TMZ being interviewed and he was as tall as the two girls he was with. Now three things could be possible. One the girls are average height and he's short. Two, the girls are tall and he is his listed height. Three, the girls are wearing heel and so he looks short.

My observation is that during the post-match interviews Joe Rogan wearing shoes is generally about the same height as 5’9” barefoot fighters, therefore Rogan would be 5’7.5” barefoot. This listing is accurate.
Occasionally Rogan can look slightly taller which means he sometimes wears thicker shoes.

I saw on UFC a few nights ago a guy they listed at 5'11 was next to Joe Rogan in the ring and Rogan only looked 1 or 2 inches tops less than him but Rogan was in shoes but Rogan can sometimes look 5'9-5'10 on UFC while he's really 5'8.

If you look closely when he interviews the winners at the MMA bouts, he is ALWAYS wearing thick boot like shoes with extra heels. This gives us the impression that he is bigger than he is. Also, because he trained in martial arts, he has a very strong torso. I don't like him, but when I saw him in The Comedy Club, he was seriously buffed!

Yeah he’s short but in my opinion he’s the best UFC commentator, he knows his stuff when it comes to MMA fighting and he’s also funny, on many occasions Joe Rogan’s commentary is more entertaining than the actual fights.

I agree with both D and Danimal. "Hate" and "respect" color a lot of judgments. One area men are notoriously bad at is assessing the footwear of women. Although difficult to divine heel height at a distance, esp with pants tailored to cover their shoes, I think grabbing a ruler when the girlfriend is not looking would increase the knowledge base of men that frequent this site as well as in dating life. I also think women judge their height in heels as if that were their actuall height, and/or choose their man based on whether they could wear high heels in their presence comfortably.

I just caught an old ep of Mad tv that Joe R hosted. As he stood next to Phil Lamar as the credits rolled, there was barely an inch between them. I am not SURE what phil's height is, but when he guested on an ep of NYPD Blue, he was much shorter than Dennis Franz, and was maligned for being 5'6" and what they would do to someone that small in jail. I know it is a long way to go for an accurate frame of reference, but I had a lot of time on my hands today.

The thing with women judging the heights is their mental perspective..unfortunately alot of women are demeaning, so they say "tower" or they want the man to be a bit shorter than what they perceive, if you think highly of someone you tend to add some more, or just be honest, but if you are insulting or have some type of self-esteem or ego problem you downgrade that person. So its very hard to listen to a woman's perspective (which is why they wear heels so much, to feel taller, and well to actually BE taller)

I'm pretty sure Randy is only about 6'0 1/2 anyway. When Chuck Liddell is next to Rogan, you can see Liddell barefoot is about 4 inches taller than Rogan (Rogan's head reaches a little over eye level for Liddell), which means he's definitely 6'1 1/2 or more.

Randy does have poor posture but he looks barely over 6' next to Rogan, assuming Rogan is nearly 5'10 in shoes.

Lot's of guys listed at 6'0 or 6'1 in the UFC are way overlisted. For example next to 6'2 (maybe 6'2.5) Yushin Okami, most "6'1" guys look tiny. Mike Swick looked barely 5'11 next to Okami. And Rich Franklin looked barely 6'0.

Yea, men are better judges at height than women. The girl who was 5'10 and quoted she towered over him was probably 2-3 inches taller which she may have felt was towering putting him at 5'7-5'8 range.

I've had taller girls appear unsure if I am taller than them when I am clearly 2, 3, 4 inches uo on them. Some just have no clue so their judgements are inclusive and uncredited. Maybe its biology. Woman are hardwired to detect men who are significantly taller them: ie in finding a mate. They simply might not be able to judge 1-2-3 inches properly. Someone whos 1-2 inches taller than you might appear very similar in height to you. Photos or mirrors might be more eye opening. Men on the other hand might be more hardwired to judge height as a response to a potential advisary or competetor. Stature is much more important to men in gaining prominance and esteem where other features are more important to woman.

I would actually list him as 6'2 if that and just to throw it in, Couture is not an inch over 6'. I've also noticed that the UFC is not consistent with its pre-match numbers. For example, Matt Hughes wingspan was claimed to be 74" when he fought Royce Gracie, and 76" when he fought GSP. At UFC 67 Matt Hughes suddenly dropped to a 68" wingspan (which sounds more accurate).

At UFC 64 Anderson Silva was claimed to be 6'2 pre-match, when he was clearly an inch shorter than 6'1 Rich Franklin. At UFC 67 Silva was incorrectly stated as 5'11 when it was clear he was about 1.5 inches taller than Travis Lutter (5'11). At the UFC website he is stated at 6 feet tall (he's probably around 6'0.5). I don't get how the UFC messes stuff up when they even have the correct numbers listed on their website. Andrei Arlovski is also incorrectly reported at 6'3 (whereas he's most likely 6'5), since he only appeared about 2 inches shorter than "6'8" Tim Sylvia, who is probably over-listed by an inch.

Rogan's 5'9.5 - 5'10 in shoes looks about right currently. He looked about 1/2 an inch taller than 5'9 Matt Hughes at UFC 68.

Yeah, I've watched a lot of UFC interviews with Rogan standing next to guys that are 6'1 to 6'2, and you pretty much get a good look on nearly every UFC event with Rogan and 6'1 Randy Coutre. Based on an estimate of 4.5 inches from eye-level up, Rogan looks around 5'10 (and sometimes even higher) in shoes. If he really is 5'7.5, he's wearing some 2.5 inch clunkers.

Something tells me that he is nowhere near 5'7'' or 5'8'' at all. Because on Fear Factor show, he is VERY OFTEN dwarfed by almost ALL FEMALES that appear on the show. I have yet to see an episode where even a female contestant is shorter than him. I would say 5'6'' at best because people tend to list their heights with shoes or boots on to start with and then overestimate more.

Well my friend is 4.5-5 inches taller than me and I consider that on the towering side as I have to look up at him more than a little. I have another friend who is 6'3 (6'4 according to himself but looks 6'3.5 tops to me) and I consider 3 inches a fair amount taller. 1-2 inches is a small amount and 1/2 inch is slight difference.

My friend is 4.5-5 inches taller than me and I consider that on the towering side as he even said the top of my head is just under his eye level/upper nose. I consider myself to tower over guys 5'8 and under. Thing that makes him seem so short is that comment you have about with someone 5'10 saying they towered over him and I think of towering over someone as 4-5 inches or more, but some people have different views of that though. I recently watched an episode of Fear Factor where one of the male contestants said he was 5'6''. One of the female contestants said, "I'm 5'4''...there is no way you're 5'6''!" Later on, the male contestant stood next to Joe, and they were EXACTLY the same height. PLUS, it looked like Joe had some decent heels on his boots. I'm gonna max him out at 5'6''.

Look at him interviewing fighters on UFC. Their heights are posted (and probably very accurate given the sport and their associated weight). In UFC 52, standing next to two 5'9" men, he was at least an inch shorter. However, they're barefoot and he's wearing shoes - whether regular or otherwise, I'm not speculating. That would make him at most 5'7.

I saw Rogan at The Comedy Store several years ago doing standup when he was on News Radio. The contestants above are right - he is short. I would take an inch off this height and say that he is not quite 5'8"; at best 5'7.5". However, he is built very strongly and he may appear to be taller. Perhaps to compensate for his lack of height, he has become a champion in the martial arts!
