His college football listing was 6'3" and 280-285 pounds. In later years (Roseanne) he was a about 6'2" and 305-335 pounds. Today looks to be no more than 6'1" and around 400 pounds.

Anything under 6ft1, let alone today is ridiculos. The man looked a solid 6'2 on Roseanne like 188-189cm. The lowest I can accept for Goodman in his younger days is 187cm and he still could be that height and what gives a 6ft1ish image is poor posture and weight.

Jeff Bridges states his height as 6'2 and in The Fisher King he does look 6'2 but in the Big Lebowski Goodman looks an inch or so taller. The Dude slouches throughout the film and walter stands tall but Goodman still looks an inch taller.

In "The Flinstones" he looked very large and very build! His arms, chest, shoulders, whole body was huge and very strapping. Nowadays he is still huge but very fat too. Close 6-3 peak, nowadays very probably at least an inch less, perharps two.

I ran into him at a restaurant several years back, he's several inches taller than my 5'10".
I'm going to say 6'2"-3". It's the width that throws off a lot of people's guesses. I have a co-worker of a similar build claiming 6'5" (I can look directly at his chin), and I'm sure he's got almost 2" on John (I think I was looking nose level).

Don't know about what Bear says about how hung, but a few of those Flintstones publicity shots and John's sporting a sundial that is NOT on his arm, there! Look for the one with him leaning on the mailbox for an example. Maybe his girth is hiding/overshadowing it the rest of the time and/or he's really a grower? He had to be doubling up underwear in the "Everybody's All-American" hotel party scene. Probably the best place to compare his height, as he's down to boxers.

There are also some recent "Speed Racer" cast publicity shots to compare his slimmer build to Susan Sarandon, Matthew Fox, and Emile Hirsch.
(and you can start a drinking game with his weight fluctuations in that movie!)

I agree with Glenn's assumption here, if you look at the shoulder levels Goodman already has 2 inches on Glenn and his shoulders are massively slouched. So 6' here if he stood up straight and maybe 6'1 prime. It shouldn't be any surprise to anybody on here at this stage that yet another actor wasn't their billed height.

Judging by this picture (assuming they are both stepping on the same surface and assuming no serious shoe advantage disadvantage and assuming Glenn is 5.8) I can say this: I am 5'10" and when I step to somebody 6'2" I look like a midget. Come on guys, he was listed at 6'3" and 285 in his college days. Nothing under 6'2". Conan O'brien had 1-2" on him from his MANY appearances on the show. I read an article on his from the early to mid 1990's, where he was going on a diet and had just gone to the doctor and was said to have lost 30 pounds on his 6'3" frame, going from 335 to 305 pounds. He's nothing less than 6'2". He was always taller than Tom Arnold on the show by about an inch.

Yeah, he's no less than 6'2. He sometimes looks taller. In "The Big Lebowski" there are even some shots where he looks to be nearly a head taller than Steve Buscemi because Goodman's broad, girthy (well over 300 pounds IMO) frame dwarfs Buscemi's comparatively short and scrawny frame.

In the film, True Stories (directed by 6 foot David Byrne of Talking Heads fame), Goodman in character as Louis Fyne, a man desperately on the prowl for a wife, states in his televised personal ad: "I'm six foot, three inches and maintain a very consistent panda bear shape".
