He's been consistent with his claims. I've heard him claim both 6'4 and 6'5 on QI. I guess he knows he's 6'4.5 and sometimes rounds up, sometimes rounds down. He even said 6'4.5 himself once. He does look considerably tall. I guess it's possible he's gone down a fraction.

Where an earth did you get 6ft 6 from for Charles Hansons height, if he did quote that on the roadtrip that is a lie, I do appear to recall it quoted on his personal website and the bargain hunt website, the experts heights are all exagerated David Harper says he 6ft 3 he is only around 6ft 0. In a interview last month Tim Wonnocott see( wonnocott on Austrialian B H) said that charles was only 6ft 1 ( 186cm), he cannot be 6ft 6. Dan snow is 6ft 6 and on celebrity roadtrip was about 5 inches taller. I think that Charles has told misinformative to millions of viewers. Stephen Fry is taller than charles. Stephen is around 6ft 5 he looks that height, on a bargain hunt famous finds there is a photo, which I am afraid I do not have of him standing next to Charles Hanson the tall expert, he is 6 feet 6 inches tall, and fry was a fraction smaller so 6ft 5 for fry. John Cleese was definitely Hansons height in peak 6ft 6

My good mate is '6"5 but very gangly a lot slimmer than Stephen so he looks taller but considering he's much heavier set even after he lost weight he always looked a good '6 "5, maybe he has lost half inch as hes now mid 50's.

He looks around the 6 feet 4 and a half mark to me, I think the claims of 6 feet 6 are absurd he is never that tall. He is an inch shorter than Cleese back in the 1990s, I think cleese in peak was certainly 6 feet 5 and half. stephen says on 29/Dec/11

I'm pretty sure SF is exactly 6ft 4.25 these days, and at his absolute peak, was 6ft 4.75. I'm 176cms (5ft 9.33) and have worked in the sport & leisure industry for years, and can easily tell the difference between someone who's 6'3, 6'4, or 6'5. James says on 19/Nov/11
I think 6ft 4.5 is about right, he always look a lean sort of bloke when you get to 6ft 4 you look tall. I doubt he was 6ft 5, I found a video around 1995 with pen and teller, pen is around 6ft 6.5 and he was two inches taller, no less than 6ft4 LAN Jiao says on 1/Nov/11

Looks 6 ft 5 next to Prince William. He looks at least 2 inches taller than Prince William. Makes Prince William look 6'2.5" tops. I see about 2.5 inches difference, although I think William is slouching a little so I think about 2 inches. If you see Prince William and Arsene Wenger for instance, Fry has to be close to 6'5". r says on 1/Jul/11

Ok, that makes sense. He always dwarfed Hugh Laurie in "Jeeves and Wooster" (and pretty much everybody else on that show). I always figured they were just a bunch of shorter Brits and that Stephen Fry was probably around 6'2" or so. I could never get a good read on Hugh Laurie's height on Bones because of his character's cane, though he seemed a bit above average, and I was very surprised to see on this site that he's around 6'2".
