I think Robbins is an excellent gauge to measure others against actually as I believe this is one of the few accurate barefoot measurements in Hollywood. He has no reason to inflate his height being this tall. It is possible that sometimes actor this tall like Christopher Lee downgrade their heights but I honestly think this is spot on as claiming "six foot four and half" is not a usual height to claim and he has obviously been measured at this. Well Stephen Fry could look more than just 6'4.5 next to Hugh Laurie when they were younger.
I'd say that Tim Robbins is a solid 194cm meaning that he would never go below that mark and probably a full 1 inch taller in the morning. Maybe in a few years to come he will start to shrink to 193cm though.
He is like 51 already and maybe just maybe in his 20's he might have been 195-196cm since taller people loose more height as they age.

Tim has been referred to as being 6'7" by more than one actor and I have no trouble believing that he was actually 2" over what he claimed for himself.
Danimal what you have to remember is sometimes Tim Robbins stands with very good posture compared to celebritys he is standing next to in photos like Clive Owen for example and even glenn saw him at 6'5 tops in person. Tim Robbins in recent years is quite a powerfully built guy which gives off the impression he is bigger than he really is

Now, the thing you have to remember about movies is that when someone says "he looks like he has 4 inches over so and so here!!!" or whatever, is that it's a movie. The actor could well be wearing taller shoes or lifts to suit the scene. Personally though, I think Robbins is taller than 6'4.5". You're right James, Robbins has a good posture which makes him look taller than he really is. In the "IQ" movie with Robbins and Fry, Robbins seemed easy, taller than Fry because Fry has a bit "lazy" posture but after seeing carefully, i noticed that they were(are)the same height.

Big King I would say a legit 6'4"+ is a height that begins to stands out noticeably in the "west". A legit 6'4" barefoot is very rare and those guys loom above the vast majority of people. 6'4" is the maximum they cater for on public transport etc. Anything over 6 foot stands out in many developing world countries where the guys average out at 5'6", many shorter than this. James, I don't think that Robbins wears lifts but he's clearly over 6'4 1/2", that's for sure because he's at least 6'5". He's almost 6'6" tall but it seems that Robbins doesn't care about his height. He's maybe using his lowest height. Are you serious? He is an ACTOR. Hence, he needs to get roles. When someone is TOO tall, they don't get as many roles. SO, they downplay their own height, as much as SHORTER actors upplay their heights, for the same reasons. I though this would be obvious. NO way was he only 6'4.5"-6'5" in his younger days. 1. everyone knows philip noyce have a bad hunches bad standing posture so that makes him lose about 2cm and looks 192ish, but pic of tim beside noyce makes tim a 198ish unless noyce stand straight up to gain back his 194cm height so tim robbins is at least 196cm tall instead of 194cm..
2.188clive owen stands abit lean down and looks slightly taller than tim robbins eye brown,makes tim looks 197cm tall..
3. 6ft3 will ferrell looks 4cm shorter than tim robbins while ferell stand a good posture but fro tim not so good one.. to say that if tim straight up a pose, he were looks 197cm tall, but the fact for ferell is his under 190cm barefoot he is 189ish and so (189 + 6 = 195cm) thats tim robbins height..

After seeing him before and rethinking about it, based on the fact that I work with a 6'6" guy who looks about the same to me as Tim did from a distance. The thing is at 6'1.75" by mid-day. I had to draw comparisons as I thought 6'6" would completely tower over me in the past, but it doesn't quite. But for instance, Vincent D'onofrio is a big dude (almost 6'4") but in the pic with Gleen, he looks much shorter than that (give a look), now confront the pic of Vincent with the 1st pic of Pete Steele... The difference between D'onofrio and Stelle isn't that much, 2.5 inches (+- 6.5 cm) max.. Films and photos are not always the best way to judge a peson's height. There are many factors associated with movies and photographythat can easily distort the perception of a person's height. That being said, I agree that Robbins has never looked as tall as 6'7 to me. I'd believe 6'6, though, or close to it. |
