Thanks Robbe. Amazing you found that clip it was years ago. Yeah maybe Ross posture isn't great and may have lost a little bit of height like the Dr says but not 7 inches.

Matt Tyler, who has played a wookie in Star Wars, is listed at 6'8 Click Here

Here he is side by side with Arie Click Here

Matt looks clearly under 6'8 there.

Ross just posted a pic of him with Joonas Suotamo Click Here

Picture is tilted favoring Joonas. The difference between them is not that big.

Here Ross and Joonas with 5'7 Andy Serkis Click Here

Arie has spent plenty of time time with Ross, and when he says Ross is over 7ft when standing tall, reckon he really is. Maybe he stands better nowadays.

Anyway, Arie, Ross, and Joonas are all solid giants. Some say giant area starts at 6'6, but i don't agree on that. That's way too low.

@Leone_Fan

Yeah, Ross thought he was 7'5, but got measured 6'10. Starting at 2:25 Click Here

My memory may deceive me but is Ross Sambridge the guy that was on a TV show about life as a tall person some years back. There was young guy who had a Doctor's appointment to check if his height was due to a medical condition. This chap told the doctor who was seeing him that he was 7'4''. The doctor was himself very tall and he was doubtful about the guys claim to be that height. He measured the guy at 6'10'' and you could see the shock and disappointment in the man's face upon being told he was 'only' 6'10''.

@Robbe

I would say Ross's 7'1" claim could have some validity to it, due to his scoliosis.

Arie said that Ross is over 7ft when forcing his posture. Due to his curved back his normal standing height seems to drop to Arie's level.

Rob,
Could you imagine him standing next to Paul "Big Show" Wight who would you think would come out looking taller

Personally I feel they could look same height plus Big Shows head is probably half an inch longer than Arie right??
Editor Rob
Today Arie looks taller than Big Show, but 15 years ago I think Big Show would have edged him.

@Sandy
Very unlikely,7.5" is probably too small even for your height, you must have an 8-8.25" head.Only extremely small women like 4'8 and under can have such small heads.

I have posted lately couple of good pics with Joonas Suotamo with height chart on his page. If you care to look, 6'2.5 hits bang on between Joonas chin and lower lip. So that jujitsu guy ChaosControl met, was most likely somewhere between 6'11/7ft.
ChaosControl 6'2.5/189.2cm said on 8/May/21
@Tunnan I was somewhere between his chin and lower lip I think. Basically the same bit my 5’5.5 grandpa comes up to on me if that helps you picture it
Tunman said on 7/May/21
@Chaos
If you reached only his chin(like exactly the lowest part of his chin)then you can easily add a 10.5-11" to your height, meaning he can even be 7'1+ otherwise if you reached slightly over it,well 7' is still fair. It's not everyday a guy your height will feel that small, but what about me?I once met a woman who was maybe the tallest person I've ever met,I just remember my first reaction being:how tall is she?225-230cm?She wasn't that far from 7'and I really wonder if it's possible to guess her identity,I mean how many girls that tall is there worldwide? Not many

@Ian yeah I agree, Arie Dekker (autocorrect does not like his name) does give off chill vibes. The tallest guy I ever met was a supposed 7 footer at a jujitsu seminar. I have no clue how tall he really was, but I was up to his chin

The tallest man I've met and spoken to is a policeman who is six foot ten. I know his father well, and his dad says that his very tall son has never thought of his height as a personal handicap.

When I met the guy, who is not just tall but strongly built (and he wears a gun when he's working), it was a bit of an adjustment. He was a very friendly, cordial man, which you'd probably have to be in order to be socially accepted at all. If you were an angry, violent-looking man of that size, you'd have a major problem.

Mr. Dekker here seems like very nice fella. Lucky.

Some great questions guys...

As far as im aware Spencer is 6ft 7in. They had to increase the size of the Darkasher suit by 4in when i doubled him so that would back it up.

I think I stopped growing around 18 years old.

I wouldnt say there are any bugbears of being tall. People would always say banging my head but i dont actually do it that often. When you are this height you have a in built radar system for anything too low, along with an automatic duck mechanism. However, if it does fail me ive hit it that many times it doesnt bother me too much.

It used to be an issue people asking how tall i was as I was asked and still am asked about 5 times a day. However ive gotten used to it and actually enjoy the conversations now.

Being tall is something to be proud of. I certainly wouldnt have worked with Lucas film and Marvel and been good at sports if it wasnt for my height!

I love it.

Arie Dekker said on 19/Nov/20
Wow! What a great site. Really interesting browsing through all the information and reading the comments.

Unfortunately, I never made it to the 7ft club but I am super proud to be tall.

To put the matter of my height to bed i am exactly 210.7cm tall which puts me mm under 6ft 11in, so I like to round up for ease.

Believe it or not ive doubled Joonas, Spencer and Ian, aswell as worked with Ross.

Joonas is 0.5cm taller than me but you dont really see it when we stand next to each other.

Spencer likes to stand on his tip toes when next to us bigger guys (cheeky) so dont take what you see in the photos for granted. Haha

When standing tall, Ross is over 7ft but you wont see that due to his posture.

Ian...well ian just makes me feel small! Haha

Fire away any other questions if you have them. Ill check back on this page in a few days.

Keep up the good work on the site!

P.s my brother is 6ft 7.

Tall Sam said on 12/Oct/20
@Christian, Yeah, its funny one gets the impression that taller folks are more prone to greater height loss with age but I think genetics and health habits (without overtaxing via constant weightlifting) play a part.

Yeah, they didn't know each other very well but my brother was a senior and team captain after Kobe came back from Europe in his sophomore year and basketball was clearly his great passion. All of us in Philly were definitely shocked and saddened by his untimely passing. My one other basketball superstar encounter that I can recall was Charles Barkley when he was playing for the sixers living a town over from my parents and a vague memory of him as a kid as a big boxy guy walking his dog by himself lol

Markkanen looks more than just 0.5in taller than Suotamo, who is not under 6'10.5.

Suotamo is closer to the camera there, but appears still shorter. Indicates at least a good inch difference. Suotamo claims though 6'11.5, which would make Markkanen over 7ft. Im not buying that. At the very best, Markkanen could be a weak 7ft in my opinion. He stands pretty well next to Joel Embiid, unlike many other "seven footers".

Ariel and Joonas here with 6'6 Spencer Wilding, compared to 7ft listed actor Phill Martin.

Spencer seems to reach roughly on eyelevel with all these guys. Depending on forehead, there's your winner :D

75 is a quite impressive age to not lose significant amount of height. My granddad (mother's side) lived until his 80's, but he didn't seem to lose all that much as well. His peak could've been somewhere around 6'0", but he seemed around 5'11"-6'0" the last time I saw him before he passed on. But back then, I wasn't into height like I am today, so my perception could've been a bit off possibly. Btw, it's cool that your brother played ball with Kobe. I'm sure he was saddened by his tragic death eariler this year. I know many of my friends were. In fact, one of my friends used to work at the Staples Center arena as a maintenance personnel, and he often saw the Lakers practice and train there.

My other brother is 6'3" maybe a quarter inch more, our (male) family runt! My sister's about 5'9" and an inch shorter than my mom was at her peak.

Yep I’ve met many 7 footers in my life esp having been a College basketball player. My guess for Levine based on pre draft and time of day is that he’s at most my height (6’4.25) if not possibly 6’4”. That’s of course barring any growth. He looks around 193-194 to me though

@Christian: yea I have a friend who inflated his height for years but stopped years ago. We measured One night though so he couldn’t dispute it anymore (he knew all along though). You should measure your friend lol. I wonder what the outcome would be
Christian 6'5 3/8" said on 4/Oct/20

He toned down a bit in recent years, claiming 6'4" more often nowadays, but it was especially bad like 3+ years ago. To be fair to him, he has a better chance of being a stronger 6'3" like 6'3.25" rather than 6'2.75". Years ago, I used to be 6'5.25" claiming 6'6", so I have no right to be too critical of him. Other than his height inflation, he's a decent guy to work with, and I get along with him well.

Christian 6'5 3/8" said on 1/Oct/20

Because it's not that uncommon for people to get guessed taller by 2", because of perception distortion due to many people inflating. I know I get 6'7" guesses quite frequently, although not as much as 6'6". I have a coworker that's your height, that claims 6'5", but he always gets away with it, because not many people realize what a true 6'5" looks like.

Good point. It's often the shorter people that make wild estimates of me, particularly women (not to be sexist or anything). The vast majority of times that I got guessed at 6'8" were made by women. Believe it or not, I was once guessed at "almost 7 feet tall", and "over 6 feet tall" too. The latter technically isn't an incorrect guess, but it's certainly a very vague estimate, and it goes to show how clueless some people can be at height guessing.

@Tall Sam I can imagine Joel Embiid is a very impressive guy in the flesh - he probably has well over 50 lbs on me, despite being the same height. I remember last year, one of my friends met him in Paris. Said he looked much ‘bigger’ than me.

@Christian I would say I get both. I get height questions/comments from people on a daily basis, so maybe the hilarity of the clueless ones sticks out more. If I was to really sit back and analyse it, I would imagine there would be some correlation to shorter people (sub 6’0”) being totally clueless at to how tall I am, and instead just being able to determine I’m taller than everyone else, whereas guys closer to your height are able to more accurately gauge.

Usually when I meet a 6’4” - 6’6” guy they’ll be the ones who are most interested, because they aren’t used to being the shorter person - and they tend to estimate from 6’10” up to 7’1”.
Christian 6'5 3/8" said on 25/Sep/20

Really? I thought it was the opposite. In my experience, 6'6"+ guys often get rounded up to "almost 7 foot", because of the lack of good perception of height after a certain point. My philosophy is that the taller you are, usually the higher you get guessed at.
Tall Sam said on 25/Sep/20
I would say that makes you past lanky to giant at 212 cm, Lanky!

The tallest guy I've seen to my recollection was Joel Embid at a sixers game when we were standing courtside during their warmup. He's listed 213 cm here and was the biggest player I saw but many were 3 or 4 inches taller than myself at about 6'5". It was one of the only contexts my handle felt fraudulent.

It’s hilarious what people tend to ‘guess’ me at. It seems as though most ‘normal’ sized people have no perception of height after about 6’6” so just assume a 7’0” guy is ‘about 6’4”.’

How tall are you, 6'10-11? The tallest guy I've seen in my adult life was probably around 7'1-7'2 (I am a little under 6'6, and was maybe an inch over eye level with his shoulders), and I've seen one or two 6'10 guys and a handful of 6'8-6'9 guys over the years. 1/125,000 sounds about right for someone over 6'10 and under 7'0, but 7'0+ seems quite a bit rarer than that. For every legit 7 footer, there are probably 10 6'10-11 dudes who claim that height. I'd estimate the odds of being a legit 7 footer at 1 in a million if not slightly more.

Someone mentioned few years ago that there was only 28 guys over 7'in the UK.From what source he brought that I don't know but if true it leaves us with 1 man out of 6-700,000 adult men being over that mark which could be reasonable.Yeah it could be interesting to see how many guys clear 7' worldwide I guess around 3,000 is fair.Surprisingly a large number of those guys live in countries with low living standards(Sudanese Dinka tribe being a good example).I guess once you get near 7' genes and growth disorders are definitely playing a much more important role than food quality or sport,I mean it sounds so unnatural you don't expect a person to reach that mark just by training and having a good diet

Thanks for that. 28 is lower than I would have guessed, I was thinking of about twice that and most in the 7'-7'2 range. I bet most of those 28 are 7 ft flat - 7'1 too. I think a guy of Mark Eaton's height is pretty much the tallest a man can be healthily and naturally and still actually look reasonably normal in proportions (if you don't compare him to anybody else). Click Here there he could pass for a 6'7 guy until you realise how tall the other guy is LOL.

In fact, now that I think about it, with the exception of a boxing journalist who’s maybe 6’9”, I can’t remember the last time I even met someone who was close to eye-level with me. And I live in a heavily-populated part of the country.

I believe the population of my city is something like 250,000, and I have lived here all my life, so I think it’s fair to say I have probably been at least within visible distance of every one of that 250k at least once.

Not once have I seen someone else of what I would call ‘similar’ height.

So, 1 in 125,000 seems the absolute lowest feasible figure.

(Think I may have double-posted this on a different page - please discard it if that was the case :) )
Lanky said on 18/Sep/20
1 in 125,000 seems far fetched at first, but I have never met someone taller than me - not even in a “I saw someone across the street from 50m away” context. I’ve seen the occasional ~6’8” person and that’s about it.

Hi Rob,

How old is this chap? Looks to be in his thirties
Editor Rob
I don't know how old.

@Julian
The number can't be that low. Like Tunman said, there are probably no more than a few thousand 7'0"+ers in the world, if even that. BTW, is the number 125,000 only based on the adult population, or the entire pop. including children?
Tunman said on 17/Sep/20
1 out of 125,000 seems a lot but if there was a scientific inquiry then maybe it's possible. We definitely need a census for those giants since their number likely won't exceed few thousands. In person I never met someone that tall with only a man and a woman being around 6'10-11
Christian 6'5 3/8" said on 16/Sep/20
@Junior
It also has to do with standard deviation (SD). It could be that the average is more 5'9" in your circle, but shorter people are more widely distributed, than taller people, so it gives off the perception that the average is shorter than it really is. I don't get why more posters here don't bring up SD.
Christian 6'5 3/8" said on 16/Sep/20
@Nik
5'7" is pretty low. Maybe you just live in a short part of UK. In my circle though, the average male seems around 5'8", but I live in a below average heighted part of the US.
6'3 Julian said on 16/Sep/20
@Tunman the odds of being 7’0+ are 1/125000
Chris Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 15/Sep/20
Agree with Nik. Majority i have met more 5'7 guys and 5'2 girls than saying 5'9 average for male and 5'4 female in canada, america, australia and some UK places i visit, plenty of circles marks it well with girls average more below 5'3-5'4 to get any sightings than 5'4-5'6 range.

@ Nik - Blimey, Nik! They sound like the average heights from the mid/late 19th century! 😟
6'3 Julian said on 15/Sep/20
5’4 is low average then
Tunman said on 15/Sep/20
@Arch Stanton

Julian it's not about the girls you know it's about what height is average for woman in the western world and the answer is 5ft 4 but to be honest most woman I see are taller than me and that's when I'm in boots and they are in the smallest of flipflops or ballet pumps so I'm surprised by the average height
Nik Ashton said on 14/Sep/20
@ 6'3 Julian - In plenty of circles the average girl is about 5’2” and the average guy is 5’7”!
6'3 Julian said on 14/Sep/20
We clearly run with different circles. Most of the girls I know average about 5’5-6. Because of that I think of 5’4 as below average

I’m gonna agree with Arch here. The average in the western world is probably 5’9-10” but the global average is probably 5’7, maybe even 5’6. I think for women it’s 5’5-6” in the western world and 5’1-2” globally

Arch 5ft 7 is in no way average range I would estimate average range to be 5ft 9 to 11 and 6foot the start of tall 5ft 7 to 9 below average and below 5ft 7 as short 6ft 3 to 6 very tall 6ft 6-9 extremely tall and above 6ft 9 as giant. They certainly are next to little 5ft 6 me

Yes, 5'7 is short in most western countries and 180 to me is upper average. But you're forgetting that over 1.5 billion men in the world are Chinese or Indian where the average is much lower. Globally overall I think 5'7-5'8 would actually be within average range. Click Here Check out how many countries are nowhere near 5'9. I did say globally. It's only a rough overall classification by every 10 cm and I think generally it's pretty good.

Rob, I'm assuming this man is dutch and has tall genetics which explains the height, I personally feel he's healthiest tall man you met.
Editor Rob
I'm not sure of his ethnic heritage, but as was posted below, his brother is quite tall, though nowhere as tall as Arie, who towers above the crowd when he walks through the convention hall.
Robbe said on 10/Sep/20
Slouching Ross is about the same height as Arie standing at his best. When Ross is standing tall, he is about 2cm taller than Arie.

Sambridges height is though bebatable. Doesn't look over 6'10 with 6'5 Clive Mantle, but standing at his best, could be 6'11.

Arie is definitely taller than Kingma, but Kingma is overlisted, he is under 6'9.

Arie is definitely shorter than 6'10 measured Sambridge, buy like said, Sambridge's height is a bit mystery due to his curved back. He could be anything between 6'10-7f lol. Arie is probably somewhere between 6'10-6'11. Like said, very close to Suotamo. Pity there aren't any pics of these giants together.
Editor Rob
Arie and Ross were both at this event...Arie actually looked a bit taller, although Ross posture at times looks weaker when standing/talking with people.
Christian 6'5 3/8" said on 9/Sep/20
@Nik
His brother could be around 6'4" or 6'5" if Arie's 6'11", but it's a bit difficult to tell Arie's head proportions are because of the Chewbacca mask.
Chris Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 9/Sep/20
@Robbe Ross still daring to claim 7'0 and was listed his claim by a tall agency Click Here knowing Ross had a serious curve back that make him lost a solid few inches before he is 6'10 now. There is a group full picture Arie stand closer to camera look to be a little edging Ross if they stand side by side. If anything worse i guess 6'10 1/2 for Arie would be it.
Mickie said on 9/Sep/20
6'11" is possible, yes. I wouldn't guess any higher based on this picture alone, however.

@robbe I cant see this guy only being 6ft 9 though. His head is 10.5 inches long and rob is several inches below his chin making him at the very least 14 inches shorter than arie

Rob, was he taller than Joonas Suotamo?
Editor Rob
to be fair, it is hard to tell that close, they may well be similar.
Robbe said on 8/Sep/20
@Leesheff85, yeah, but Arie looks still shorter than Ross Sambridge who was measured 6,10 last year. Like i said, Ian is standing very relaxed there, he is most likely losing more height than Arie on the height chart. Arie also looks slightly shorter than Suotamo, who is listed as 6'10.5 by Rob. Suotamo though claims 6,11.5 so you never know.
Leesheff85 said on 8/Sep/20
Yes robbe but that height chart also has Ian at 7 foot flat when we know he is 7ft 1 this guy is easily 6ft 11
Robbe said on 8/Sep/20
Arie here with 6'10 Ross Sambridge. Ross looks hair taller, due to bigger forehead.

Ross and Peter Mayhew looks also pretty much the same. Suotamo looks an inch taller than Peter, but Peter is older there, and most likely lost some more height.

So, if Ross is still 6'10, i can't see Arie at 6'11.
Robbe said on 8/Sep/20
According to Rob's height chart, Arie is bang on 6'10.

If Ian is really only 7ft range, then Arie is clearly under 6'11. But Ian seems to stand very relaxed there. Im pretty sure he is 7'1 when standing straight. Arie is slouching there too with Rob. Anyway, average guess for Arie is too high, he is not over 6'11.
Andrea said on 7/Sep/20
Near 3 inches below his chin + 10.5-11 inches head... to be fair, he looks more 6'10 than 6'11 here.
Arch Stanton said on 7/Sep/20
Well to me Thor and Kevin Nash next to Rob just look big. Kingma in proportions is where it starts to look giant like to me.
Arch Stanton said on 7/Sep/20
@Rob that might make a great video actually if you investigated and found out how many 7 footers live in the UK and what it works out as 1 in xx people. I have no idea, I've only ever seen a handful of guys over 6'8, only ever seen one guy in who looked 7'1-7'2, and he was boarding a flight to Amsterdam! 7'8 is currently the tallest I think. In a population of about 67 million there's probably a fair few in 7 ft -7 ft 2 range I'd imagine. Over the 220 cm mark though I think you'd see a sharp decline in numbers.
Leesheff85 said on 7/Sep/20

Editor Rob
Feel he looks taller than Kingma, he did seem about 4 inches taller than curtly ambrose that day too, who is a very tall guy.
RP said on 6/Sep/20
Rob, how do you personally compare this chap to Kevin Nash?
Editor Rob
up close he looks visibly a few inches taller, I don't know if his head is near 11 inches or between 10.5-11, probably within that range. Nash has a fairly big head too.
Miss Sandy Cowell said on 6/Sep/20
I think it's very honest for Arie NOT make out to be the full 7ft - with a height that tall, I'd certainly be none the wiser. He's so huge he'd be able to spit on nearly anyone's head without dangling out a window like a brattish schoolkid scamp! 😂

😕 6ft11.5

Arch Stanton said on 6/Sep/20
I think of it like this for a guy (at least in thinking globally overall):

220+ - super giant range
210-220 - giant range
200-210 - extremely tall range
190-200 - very tall range
180-190 - tall range
170-180 - average range
160-70 -short range
150-60 - super short range
Below 150 - dwarf range
Arch Stanton said on 6/Sep/20
Super giant for me is over 220 cm, over 7'2.5.

Looks it. If anything stood his very best I can see some change on this. Oddly looks like he could be related to Rob!! I wonder what ranking he is in the tallest men in the UK. How many men do we reckon are taller than him in the UK?
Editor Rob
I don't know how many 7 foot plus men are in the UK, it is a figure that I haven't researched. Though on that agency he's with, there's a few guys over 7ft there.

Arie and Joonas with 6'6 Spencer Wilding.

I remember Joonas said there was another 6'11 guy waiting in the room for audition for Chewbacca role. That was probably Arie. Joonas got the role, and Arie became his stunt double.

I'm guessing he's one of the tallest people you've photographed with, Rob?

The surname "Dekker" is Dutch I believe, so I'm guessing he has some Dutch origins haha.
Tunman said on 5/Sep/20
Did he look 15"taller than you?I would say that standing perfectly you could be like an inch under his shoulder...maybe rather 14"?6'10-11 is believable but I guess it's harder to tell when there's such difference.
Dream said on 5/Sep/20
HOLY MOLY!

Do you think he was near 6'11" or at least 6'11", based on what you saw in person?
Editor Rob
In person Arie isn't quite as tall as someone like Ian Whyte, but he's visibly bigger than guys like Kevin Nash.

When you look at the white stadiometer I use in videos, the markings finish at 210.5cm (near 6ft 11), but you can't actually measure that high, only to about 6ft 9 and change (with black stabilizer attached at top). It's easy to believe he could measure near 6ft 11.

The girl taking this photo is barely 5ft, but she stood on a chair, making her over 6ft.
Leesheff85 said on 5/Sep/20
I think him and radu spinghel (o'clancy the giant in the greatest showman and an mma fighter) would both be exactly 6ft 11 or radu might be 7 foot I think he should also have a page as he would be on the tallest men page
Leesheff85 said on 5/Sep/20
That's a good photo rob. Yeah I can see 15 inches between you. And his head must be at least 10 inches long. You look at least 2 or 3 inches below his chin so 6ft 11 could be right
