For some reason or other, I've always known George Clooney's height and it might have something to do with the following....
My intro to this guy was in the film 'From Dusk Till Dawn' and what a cracking introduction that was too! I never saw him in ER, you see!
What do you do when you watch an opening scene in which 2 unlikely-looking, but equally foul-mouthed brothers, burst into a garage with 2 young hostages and things just get so ridiculously out of hand that they shoot the sheriff, set fire to the guy behind the counter and then when they walk off, the whole place goes up! They don't even look behind! For them, it is all in a day's work. That's what by normal and just standards is a despicable and callous act of violence, YET IT IS THE FUNNIEST OPENING SCENE I have yet to witness!
That's what Quentin Tarantino is all about and the film doesn't get any less black as it goes on!
We see Clooney and Tarantino, looking hilariously sinister, standing in police photographs and by a measuring board, for want of a better term, so it is easy to pause the film and take in both their heights! I did this the very first time I saw it on my own!
I have a handful of other of George's films upstairs, but if I want a George Clooney fix, I invariably plump for the one I've just discussed!

Yeah Pitt has half an inch on him, though both are close in height. 5'11.5 was his peak height in dress shoes (5'10.5 was his height barefoot). Just like Affleck claiming 6'3 (or 6'3.5) in dress shoes, his actual height is 6'2 flat barefoot.

I would say more 5'10.25-5'10.5 peak (looked above average) and 5'10-5'10.25 now (just upper average). Average in the USA is 5'9.25. In Europe it is approximately an inch more, so he is bang on average here.

Clooney always gave an average impression to me on screen, like I'd have guessed 177cm. Even guys as low as 179cm-180cm have given a tallish impression to me, at least on screen, but Clooney hardly ever did that because he always looked average range. But he probably could legit measure an inch taller I just don't see it.

This estimate is really interesting. By looking at him in photos, movies etc, I've always thought he looked 5'10" - 5'10.25" range, something like that. It's hard to pinpoint someones height to a quarter inch, but I'd say he's always given me an impression of closer to 5'10" than 5'11". Could he really be only 5'9.5" though? That for me is just about as easy to believe as the 5'10.75" he's listed at on here - it would kind of surprise me but I can't totally rule it out.

Here is Clooney with Chris Rock and Harrison Ford, quite clearly a late Middle-aged Harrison Ford was taller then both of them by a quite a few inches. Clooney does not appear taller then Rock and that is pretty clear by the full bodyshots. Chris Rock himself, is no taller then Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy and even Adam Sandler, it is hard for me to see Rock over 5'9.25. Clooney is also within 0.5 inches of Brad Pitt.

George will likely be given 5'11 peak and 5'10.5 current when he starts looking nearer 5'10 flat in 5-10 years time. I think he has dropped a small fraction though since his youth, from a 180-180,3 cm type range in his prime to 179,5-179,8 cm range today, so I can understand why there's no change in the listing. When the cm value changes like with Ty Burrell for example, who claims he was 6ft but isn't anymore, 5'11.75 (182 cm) and 6'0 (183 cm) peak is understandiby given, even if it's arguable that he was always a little shy of 6ft. But to have it 5'11 (180 cm) and 5'10.75 (180 cm) for George now is a rather pointless exercise, even that realistically is what has happened.
George will likely be given 5'11 peak and 5'10.5 current when he starts looking nearer 5'10 flat in 5-10 years time. I think he has dropped a small fraction though since his youth, from a 180-180,3 cm type range in his prime to 179,5-179,8 cm range today, so I can understand why there's no change in the listing. When the cm value changes like with Ty Burrell for example, who claims he was 6ft but isn't anymore, 5'11.75 (182 cm) and 6'0 (183 cm) peak is understandiby given, even if it's arguable that he was always a little shy of 6ft. But to have it 5'11 (180 cm) and 5'10.75 (180 cm) for George now is a rather pointless exercise, even that realistically is what has happened.

Editor Robhe can look roughly around the mark. In his 50s and with maybe the odd back injury it's not impossible to have lost a small fraction by now.

6ft is not even solid tall for a man, let alone being very tall. And 2inch difference is something that everybody can notice, so the only case in which you would not look noticeably shorter than a legit 6 footer, is the case in which you would have a massive footwear advantage.

Donald says with this really snotty attitude, oh, everybody's been led to believe George is this big, strong guy, and I meet him in person, and he's this little guy- like 5'10". On TV's "Roseanne", I used to think he was 6'2", but of course he was surrounded by mostly women at the factory his character managed. LOL There was an Entertainment Weekly issue (or some other entertainment magazine) that was published around the time "ER" premiered, that featured rising male stars- and had Clooney listed at 6'. No way he's that obviously since he himself said he's 5'11". I'm seeing a LOT of folks estimating him in the 5'10" area. So overall, I'm guessing he's about 5'10 1/2" (maybe his 5'11 1/2" claim is in shoes-??)

Editor Rob I said he wasn't much under his claim (he claimed both 5ft 11 and 11.5). Why the reporter wrote 6ft down though I don't know...well I do, because they can make mistakes, they wrote the wrong age for me aswell.

Hello Rob. I'am French. I am very interested on the true size of famous peopleand I am persuaded that Clooney does not exceed the 75 meter (5 feet 9)! Why?? Beccause Jean Dujardin actually measures 5 feet 9. I'm 5 feet 9.5 and I met Laurent Boyer which is a French animator. Laurent Boyer is mentioned 6 feet 0.5 but having seen him in real life it does not exceed 5 feet 11 or 5 feet 11.25. In one picture, Jean Dujardin is 4 or 5 inches less than Boyer (181 - 182 cm) but this one is barefoot while Boyer wearing thick shoes (we do not see the picture but in the video) Conclusion: Dujardin is around 5 feet 9 and Clooney next to him is similar !
Hello Rob. I'am French. I am very interested on the true size of famous peopleand I am persuaded that Clooney does not exceed the 75 meter (5 feet 9)! Why?? Beccause Jean Dujardin actually measures 5 feet 9. I'm 5 feet 9.5 and I met Laurent Boyer which is a French animator. Laurent Boyer is mentioned 6 feet 0.5 but having seen him in real life it does not exceed 5 feet 11 or 5 feet 11.25. In one picture, Jean Dujardin is 4 or 5 inches less than Boyer (181 - 182 cm) but this one is barefoot while Boyer wearing thick shoes (we do not see the picture but in the video) Conclusion: Dujardin is around 5 feet 9 and Clooney next to him is similar !

I really doubt Clooney suddenly just dropped three quarters of an inch in 2014. 178-179 cm range I think is arguable for Clooney today and about 183 cm is pretty much it for Gosling.

I have noticed that girls normally can't tell height. Once i hooked up with a qirl at a height of 181-182 cm (that's very tall for a girl hehe)and she was comfortable of my height but she really liked my physisque(80 kg of muscles at the time) and charm.hehe
So that made me confident of myself and since then i didn't pay that much attention to my height. Although this height site is kinda addictive!hehe
At 178 cm i rarely see girls taller than me on average but when i go out at the clubs that's were you see some 178-182 cm or even taller, which is rare.
Personally I also prefer a girl to be 168-175cm, but that's not important really. At the moment my girl iam with now is 170 cm which is perfect ;)!

I have noticed that girls normally can't tell height. Once i hooked up with a qirl at a height of 181-182 cm (that's very tall for a girl hehe)and she was comfortable of my height but she really liked my physisque(80 kg of muscles at the time) and charm.hehe
So that made me confident of myself and since then i didn't pay that much attention to my height. Although this height site is kinda addictive!hehe

@T.1000: I almost wish I was a late bloomer like that, proportionally (in my torso, arms and shoulder-width mainly) it looked like I was heading for 6'1 for a while, but my legs sadly didn't follow...
I've been on a strict work-out plan to have great body-strength and endurance, so I only do long runs, basic cardio, pushups, pullups, situps, that kind of things (I'm heading for my military service on the Norwegian-Russian border in about 2 weeks, so I need to keep it tight!). Once I return in early 2015 I'll start lifting weights and bulk up to 80 kg + of muscle for sure. And yeah I'm very happy with my height, around 179-180 is a great height to be - you fit in all cars, it's easy to find clothes and it's not hard to appear 6ft + in shoes etc.
As for girls over 180, I don't know many girls of that stature, but I do see it all the time when I'm out and about. There have been a few in my school who were my height or close - I'm guessing 177-181 cm zone. One or two who were 183 cm +, and one that was a year younger than me who was freakishly tall for a girl, at 194 cm! Personally I like my girls to be in the 168-174 cm zone, but I'm not too picky ;)
Also when you're 5'10-11 zone I find that most girls will think you are around 6ft anyway. I hooked up with a girl at a party a while back who said she was 177 cm, I was 178,5 cm at the time (low) - and even she guessed me at around 182-183 cm. So when girls say they want guys a little over 180 - to them that's a 5'10 guy in shoes, and they mostly just can't tell the difference. I've never been rejected because I'm "too short", even when they are close to my height or taller. But then again I usually walk around in a boot-type of footwear that will give me a little boost, so I do appear the same height as my 6'ish friends. I'm also medically required to have a special insole (for my back) in my shoes, that add about 1 cm - so I can quite easily pull off looking at least 183 cm in most footwear, around 185 in some boots.

yeah sorry I saw after you posted it that you said how old your dad was, my bad there!
As for the 5'10 measurement he was measured that in a work medical and he said it was without footwear.
On waking I can be as high as 183 but by the evening I will be about 180-179 range. But throughout the day I'll be about 181 or 180.
Yeah I didn't stop growing until I was 21-22ish so you still have time.

Whatever height he is, he manages not to look 'short' - bottom-line. BTW, I've found DMeyer's assessments to be pretty darn accurate.

Although he is still a very fit and 'in shape' man for his age so I don't think his height loss is attributed to anything, but there's no way he is still 5'10.
