Yeah, I was a fan of both Costner and Ford when I was a kid and always imagined them around the same size but I do think now that Costner would have edged out Ford by a couple cm both in 80s and maybe a full 3 cm today.

This guy is a full 6'1. In 1993 he was interviewed by the NY Times, and they listed him at "6 feet 1 inches tall, 170 pounds". This seems rather slim, but the clothing he wore in Dances with wolves 1990, the untouchables 1987, show us a man 170 - 180 lbs, basically Harrison Ford sized, but slightly taller.
His overcoat was a size 40L (40 inch chest, -- Long) in Untouchables, and his uniform in Dances with wolves was a 16" neck, and 42 chest. Sleeves 34" , and size 11 shoe. The industry standard for a 40 L overcoat/ suit is for a man from 6 ft to 6 ft 3, also called Medium tall/ or Medium Long. So this also illustrates the man is a solid 6 footer. You can find all these stats in proparchives and other websites that auction off Movie props. I wouldn't argue anywhere below 6ft1/185cm for Costner's peak after watching Bull Durham, The Untouchables and Field of Dreams. Looks pretty close to 6ft2 with Tim Robbins who might've been a full 6ft5.

I remember thinking that he was far taller than me (I stand 5'7"), and would have placed him at 6'3". But he was wearing boots, which may have given him a 2 inch boost, so 6'1" sounds right. I wouldn't go lower.

I met kevin Costner in Aspen, Clorodo back in 1997. He looks to be about 6'1" tall. I'm 6'3" and Kevin was about 2 inches shorther than me. Nice guy.

Watched THE UNTOUCHABLES recently. Once again, no mistake about it: next to 6'2" Sean Connery, Costner looks 6'1"--keep in mind both actors are wearing dress shoes with a similar heel. I never thought of Costner as physically intimidating, but whether one loves him or hates him, the man does have a great screen presence, and yes, he does look tall onscreen--not super tall, but tall. 6'1" barefoot is right for him because he does look 6'2" with shoes--looking back on THE UNTOUCHABLES, this makes sense since Sean Connery has at least an inch on him, and Connery always looked like he hit 6'3" in shoes. Keep in mind that this film was shot in '86/'87 so both actors were younger and essentially at their peak heights.
I think the case for Costner being 6'1" is bolstered by the fact that in photos I've seen, he looked about the same height as Ashton Kutcher--whom I believe to be 6'1" barefoot--with Kutcher having an edge in height. Costner always looked shorter than he is in my opinion. He just isn't the 'height' kind of guy. Easy 6'1.25 at peak in my opinion.

Custner is 6'1" and Liotta is at minimum, 5'11" but remember, this was a movie. They pull all kinds of tricks. Perhaps they felt Liotta's character shouldn't look too tall since men were shorter when his character played baseball.

Costner is slouching and still as 2 inches over Liotta. Liotta does look close to 6ft to me.
