How tall is Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant's Height

6ft 9 ½ (207 cm)

American basketball player. On twitter he joked he was 6'7" but in the past said "6'10 with shoes" and "Im not 7 feet lol I'm 6 11 on a good day" and even said "I was recorded at 6'10" and three-quarters with no shoes, so with my shoes on I'm 7-feet. I just like messin' with people. They just ask me so much..."

@Editor Rob: I wonder if Green is overlisted (6’7.75 pre draft). Wonder if he’s not really 6’7” flat afternoon height.

@Duhon: I’m beginning to wonder if he just had them list 6’9 when in fact he was over the mark
Jam said on 23/Jan/21
@Canson: Nick wright is one of the worst offenders for height inflation. Recently, he described Bol Bol as 7'5 lol
Duhon said on 21/Jan/21
I'd be careful to use pics of Durant from his rookie year as an example of his current height. I do believe he's one of the few NBA players who did grow from his draft day measurement.
Canson said on 19/Jan/21
@JTM: Hubie Brown is also famous for doing that. Then Dan Patrick calls him 7’ at least and then Nick Wright 7’1”. The guy is 6’9.5” at best lol

@Robbe that was just a small part of the argument. One of many reasons and I didnt list them all.

@Canson meh, WWE billings have gotten better in the last few years (most of the way overbilled ones have been around for 10+ years)

@Robbe and Shane: maybe it’s for “entertainment purposes” 😂 😂
I bet the NBA’s listings will resemble pro wrestling in a few years lol
Canson said on 10/Jan/21
@Shane: for consistency purposes I agree. They should keep it the way it was. I can’t blame the teams and players either because the NBA started that trend some 40 or more years ago (Magic actually came out in 1979 lol). You had some in the 70s that were such as Dennis Johnson who admitted he wasn’t 6’4”. I saw Wall at 6’4 on ESPN but NBA.com he’s 6’3”. Then on NBA.com, Dwight Howard is listed at his “amended 6’10” from last season but ESPN he’s actually down to 6’9” now. But in Howard’s defense, he claimed 6’9” as his true height despite being listed 6’11 through the 2019 season and he was drafted in 04. I wonder if Howard was simply listed the same height as Anthony Davis by the Lakers or was he just measured very early in the morning. It seems inconsistent as Davis’s height seems like a low for him. Funny thing is I predicted that’s what he would measure as an afternoon height when he was measured by Jimmy Kimmel on TV at 6’11” in shoes. It adds up as Davis measured 6’9.25 ad a rookie but it was likely early morning. I think he was shorter than Durant when he came in but maybe now he’s slightly taller so makes since he would’ve been 6’8.75 as a rookie (afternoon height) and 6’9.75 now. It shows that Cousins was morning measured at 6’9.5 being he’s shorter. More than likely 6’9”. Then with the Sixers, I’m not sure what happened last year with their measurements. Joel Embiid looks like a low. Ben Simmons looks like a shoe measurement. Not sure if 6’8.25 would be his low but it wouldn’t surprise me if it isn’t or is really. To be honest I don’t see less than 6’8” ish but don’t see any higher either. Then Al Horford. Horford measured 6’8.75 as a rookie and 6’9.25 this season. His is likely accurate but just early morning. I don’t see him having grown and they kept him at 6’9 with OKC so I doubt he’s really taller than that. He’d likely have gotten listed 6’10” if he were as that would be his morning height

Most ridiculous reason i've heard they use shoe heights in NBA due to players play with shoes on Lol. According to NBA's logic, NHL players should be measured with their skates on 😂😂😂

P.S. The image sharing i've used for years to post pictures here, seems to be down for good, so the links i've posted, doesn't work any more. Damned 😣 😣 😣

@Canson I despise the NBA pressuring teams to list players as NBA demands. Weve had shoes heights for 40 years. I hate it. I only now cheer for the handful of teams still listing their players in shoes. I admire them for doing as they wish. The players hated the new policy. Fyi, last I checked all the rosters most rookies were being listed shoe heights for almost every team. So perhaps nba didnt emphasize this policy this year and teams will list new players the old way again. Harder to do that for the players they already certified this year. Last I checked wall was still listed 6'4" on some of the Rockets rosters on some sites. Do I believe shoe heights are the true heights of our body? Of course not. But this messes up historical comparisons to over a generation of players going back to the 80s. They did shoes too long for this to make since. They play in shoes and I see no issue with continuing that tradition? Especially when any real fans realized they were shoe heights and the players real heighr were usually one to two inches lower.
Canson said on 8/Jan/21
@Robbe and Recapa: I’ve been on this site for over 5 years now and for the life of me, I never get why and when people assume or want a celeb to be taller than they’re measured. John Wall when he played in the DC Area was not more than about 6’2” barefoot yet people swore up and down he was 6’4 and that Bradley Beal was 6’5 as both were listed. Wall measured 6’2.75 early morning. Ironically, Beal was measured 6’3.25 in 2012 and has been listed 6’3” since they officially measured him in 2019 and he is taller than Wall. But I guess taller is better for their careers and it must surely improve play somehow? even though Wall is off to a great start in Houston this season only being listed 6’3” now; and Beal has had the best season plus of his career going back to the beginning of the 2019-20 season only being listed 6’3 since then. Strange how things work, huh?

Sure measurements can be off at times maybe by 1/4” or so but Could that person measure lower than they did being the site standard is afternoon or at best lunchtime height which for most is 1/8” above their afternoon or at best maybe 1/8-1/4” in some cases? That’s the only real debate. I’ve seen too many times here where someone says “well the combine measurement is official” regardless of the fact that it’s documented to be(in most cases) early morning esp in the NFL every year and NBA most years, but that listing is used for comparison purposes against another measured athlete (who could’ve been measured at their afternoon height) but the latter is automatically 1/2” taller than listed because of the morning measurement of the former. And don’t even get me started on the validity of the measurement such as did it really take place or did it occur in shoes? Strange that JJ Redick showed 6’4 barefoot 6’4.75 in shoes at the combine and essentially the same size as D Wade when he was drafted and was penciled in at 6’3 last season after the official measurement and its not unfathomable that he’s less than 6’3” being a legit 6’3 would measure 6’3 3/8 (which gets rounded to 1/2 in the NBA and rounded again to 6’4) or even the full 1/2” after being awake an hour or two. There are exceptions as I doubt Brandon Ingram is less than 6’7”.

Back Kevin Durant, who’s avg guess is over 6’10, he only measured 6’9.5 and barely looks taller than DeMarcus Cousins does next to Draymond Green. He was listed 6’9.25 then 6’9.5 then .75 for a few days then back to 6’9.5 after his actual listing came out. Yet he looks shorter than 6’9.75 DeAndre Jordan and 6’9.75 Anthony Davis. More than 1/4. It’s also worth noting that Dwight Howard measured 6’9.75 last year (presumably a morning measurement being he’s shorter than Davis) and was listed 6’10” but is now only listed 6’9” on ESPN’s website. Howard himself claimed 6’9 before last season. Durant I doubt is much taller if at all. And you see it all the time with Charles Barkley, Kobe Bryant or any other measured athlete who got measured around their afternoon height or with Dwayne Wade previously when he was listed at his alleged measured height, they’d keep him at that even though it was proven not to be his actual height and inflate a legitimately measured athlete. Wade is about 6’3 and always has been. But Wade’s 6’3.75 measurement previously before anyone took the time to actually figure it all out that he was never that tall was good enough to be considered or claim 6’4” despite being much closer to 6’3 (wouldn’t surprise me if he falls under by a tiny hair) yet Charles Barkley rounding down to 6’4 or being rounded down to 6’4 being he himself usually claims 6’5, is downplaying his height even though he’s been described 6’4.5 for most of his career and measured 6’4 5/8”. Or other football players like Tim Tebow who never looked their measured heights, instead inflating the legit measured ones. It’s never that guys like that aren’t as tall as advertised. Or it’s that someone got measured “at night” (we all know afternoon and evening don’t vary from one another unless under extreme conditions which is extremely rare) or was he “properly measured”? Another example is Conan O’Brien. He had yet to be officially measured on record and people have pushed his height to as high as 6’4 1/2 or even 6’5 just because he claimed to be a little over 6’4 so by deduction they push Barkley or Kobe to 6’5.25 and 6’5.5 respectively instead of taking the time to actually analyze what the real issue is.

Both guys are probably within 0.5in. I would still put my money on Ibaka.

P.S. Marc Gasol is 6'11 barefoot, and 7ft in shoes. He is max an inch shorter than a legit 7ft barefoot Pau Gasol. Ibaka's 7ft listing is a bit mystery, maybe he was tiptoeing, or was measured with extra thick shoes.

Bynum is closer to camera in both picture. I did go with both flat 7'0 or 6'11 3/4 at worst. I remember Shaq use to look about 1/2" on both of them but Shaq footwear was legit thicker at least by a fraction.
recapa said on 19/Oct/20
KD is closer to 206cm than 207cm but close enough
Canson said on 18/Oct/20
@Robbe: Bynum looks taller in both imho. Even in the one outside he doesn’t seem to be standing as well. I agree it probably isn’t much but I could see Bynum being maybe 1/2” taller based on all the pics I posted before. But some food for thought for me at least, Marc is only listed 6’11 now so he could potentially dip below. If that’s morning 6’11.25 let’s say. I wonder how tall Dirk is. That looks 1.5” or 1.25 between them to me. Pau to me is max 7’0. I can see RJT’s argument at times for a weak 7’0” esp being he was only listed 7’ when drafted

Editor Rob
If you want to clock in and be recorder shorter, don't rule out the possibility (even if we are talking a couple) that a player might hold some height in the tank when measuring.

Weight altering is nothing new - some players might consume before or the opposite, if they want to come in at a lower weight, take some laxatives.

And I've read and mentioned a few years ago how an article also mentioned a medical worker who talked of the idea that some players might put lift in sock to measure taller.

Canson said on 17/Aug/20
@Height: he probably is approaching that mark today maybe 235 at worst but being a bit over 6’9” that’s not as surprising if he did weigh that much. but when he came in the league he looked a bit thinner. That’s a good observation though about the midsection. But putting it into perspective he’s probably 2+ inches taller than a 6’7” Lebron James and Lebron looks much bigger only being maybe 10 lbs heavier. I have Lebron around 250 at most. I’ve never believed he was 260 or 270. Maybe something like mid 250s in Miami at one stage but when he got back to Cleveland he looked around 245.

Hey rob why are people so crazy about KD being taller than he actually is and always call KD a prankster for claiming 6'9?
Editor Rob
He has passed for 6ft 10 range before, so I can see why people would call out his 6ft 9 low.

@Editor Rob: he can pass for 6’10 easily but if you compare him to Anthony Davis or Andre Drummond or any of those cats, he isn’t over 6’9” range. LaMarcus Aldridge measured 6’10” flat and looks taller than all of them. But I can believe him possibly being 6’10” and a bit today perhaps.

By the way, how close do you say Anthony Davis and Durant are? That 1/4” is more believable in that pic. Or maybe Durant is 6’9 3/8” afternoon and Davis was at his afternoon when he got measured 6’9.75”. Andre Drummond was likely a morning measurement too.
Editor Rob
They can look closer to an inch apart in the group pic. However exact sneaker heights of those players is unknown, sometimes a few players on court could be half inch apart with sneaker heights.

Durant is now given by the NBA official at 6'10, 240 lbs. I buy his 6'9 1/2 from Rob listing a lowest but weight at 240 lbs seem BS, i just can't see him anything over 220 if is highest, he use to be listed 6'9 & 220 from the past i guess his real weight around 212-215 then he might gain a little more weight from recent years did look 220 from past NBA listing but anything above 223 is hard to believe. He literally always look like the most skinny guy in the court with every teammates.

Canson said on 28/Mar/20
@Robbe: yea that’s very strange. About as strange as Lebron’s or Simmons. He’s shorter than Marc Gasol who is listed at 6’11” now. I’m not even sure if Gasol is the full 6’11”. Most players got morning measurements so even if one gets 6’11.25 at his size he’d stand to lose another half inch. Ibaka’s listing is funky to say the least. I vaguely remember him being 6’8.75 when he was drafted but for some reason I remember a 6’9.25 from somewhere. There’s one player who I know off the top of my head maybe two who’s barefoot listings are Lows. Frank Ntilikina as he looks at minimum 6’4 and was measured at 194cm when drafted. Another is Brandon Ingram who surely looks no less than 6’7” if even that low. I could easily argue Ingram measuring 6’7.25 but maybe because of his length. Then again Ingram could look Maybe 1/2” shorter than Kyle Kuzma. And Kuzma measured exactly 6’8 so fair chance he’s 6’7.5 and Ingram 6’7” flat. But a guy that size would typically be listed 6’8”. Maybe because of his weight and his position he chose 6’7. And Bradley Beal is questionable. He may measure 6’3” at a low in the afternoon. Worst case 6’2.75 or 6’2 7/8 but I really think he’s near it. I think your assessment is right. Ibaka is probably around Durant’s height or slightly taller as he may have grown since he came in. Max is 6’10” but it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s even 6’9.5”. His listing is about as bad as Lebron’s but maybe the Raptors and Lakers did that to stick it to the league because both listings are total bulls**t. At least with Ben Simmons he was already listed 6’10 so they stretched it to accommodate him. I’m sure even Rob knows that he’s under 6’9” in his mind but because there is uncertainty with others. Rob mentioned himself that he’s max 6’9”. Chances are he’s Closer to 6’8” afternoon height

Canson said on 8/Mar/20
@Robbe: yea the biggest variable is there is no consistency. We don’t know what time of the day the measurements took place and some guys are still listed at previous listings when they aren’t. Then a couple like Ben Simmons and Lebron etc grew an inch. Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, Harrison Barnes and all of Sacramento. I would really believe that Davis was an afternoon measurement as he claimed to grow an inch since being drafted and admitted he didn’t want to be listed at 6’11” on more than one occasion. Now we can’t always take claims at face value but seeing as how he does look 2-3 inches taller than Lebron and actually appears taller than Dwight Howard during the game along with what he said which seemed honest, I could buy him growing an inch. It’s possible that his 6’9.25 pre draft equated to a 6’8.75 afternoon measurement in 2012. I remember AD also said that KD was taller than him at one point and this was likely when he was drafted. To add to that, he was measured on Jimmy Kimmel’s show, but that appeared to be a quick and dirty (Sloppy). Davis has long hair and it wasn’t easy to tell from the camera angle if it was the full 6’11” with shoes or maybe a hair under. I know that when that video was first posted here, I pointed out to Rob that I believed 6’9.75 to be his actual height due to the shoe measurement and it turns out that it is what he measured this season. But that makes it more confusing being it’s easier to believe Howard’s pre draft 6’9” measurement more so than his training camp measurement this past October. If he did grow, it’s likely to about what Kevin Durant is. And I say more confusing because a few players appear to have received afternoon measurements whereas the majority appear to have received morning measurements. KD and AD are two guys who would likely prefer to use a lower measurement than a higher one but a clear example of a person who I believed to receive an afternoon measurement in 2007 was Al Horford at 6’8.75 but 6’9.25 is his year in the morning. Another was Amare Stoudemire who was 6’8.5 and then got 6’9.25 (I think) in the morning before practice. Then you have someone like Austin Rivers or maybe JJ Redick. Rivers received 6’3.5 when drafted but is listed 6’3 now and Redick 6’4 now listed 6’3. Now that could be that the measurements weren’t accurate when they were drafted but in some cases prior to 2009 players got measured in the afternoon and measured at those heights legitimately without the benefit of laying down prior to the measurement. Another example is Brandon Ingram. It’s very hard to see him measuring at under 6’7” and most of us believed him to be closer to 6’8” until that came out. I could still see 6’7” and some change but he surely is an afternoon solid 6’7” guy at absolute worst. He was only slightly shorter than Kuzma and even looked taller on occasion and he always towered over Lonzo Ball. Then some guys were left at their previous listings and they certainly didn’t grow. Others such as Jordan Clarkson, Jimmy Butler, DeAngelo Russell, DeMar Derozan etc just lost one inch from their previous listing when all four are still over listed by an inch just according to their Morning pre draft measurements. They should be Listed 6’3, 6’6, 6’3, 6’5 even using morning measurements being they round 1/2” or above up. Just using the eye test I would say:

AD 6’9.75
KD 6’9.25-.5
Drummond 6’9.25

That is further complicated when you see the expanded version of picture you posted that includes LaMarcus Aldridge who measured 6’10” which was likely an afternoon measurement In 2007. LA can look over 6’10” to tell you the truth.

KD is visible shortest of them, so he is not 6'10.

@Robbe: maybe 2.5”. I wonder if Durant possibly comes down to 6’9.25 like you provided in that range being Anthony Davis measured 6’9.75 and is Slightly but noticeably taller than him
Robbe said on 25/Feb/20
6'10 is too high for KD, he is shorter than 6'10 Möttölä, as shown in previous picture. Here 7ft listed Markkanen talking to KD. He is tilting his head deep down to look at KD. Indicates quite a height difference Click Here

Here KD with 6'11.75 listed Joel Embiid. KD looks like 3in shorter Click Here

KD is nowhere near 7ft even with shoes on. He is barefoot somewhere between 6'9-6'9.5.

Canson said on 15/Feb/20
@Riccardo: my guess is that’s close to an afternoon height for Durant. Maybe he dips to 6’9 3/8 or a little less but he can look a little taller than Demarcus Cousins too. Maybe Cousins dips under 6’9” by chance. But Gallinari may be close to 6’10” barefoot. Maybe 6’9.75 or something

@Rob a d everyone

I see that Danilo Gallinari is billed at 6'10", wich I'm not completely sure about.
BTW there is a video of Gallinari an Durant in wich they look almost same height, probably Gallinari is slightly taller

6-9.5 is fair for KD
Canson said on 11/Feb/20
@Robbe: Walton was likely not even that in his prime. He looked nearly 3” shorter than Kareem and even said that in an interview with Dan Patrick when he asked him and accused him of being taller. It’s possible he was like Durant where he was a hair over 6’11” Afternoon height and was listed 6’11”. Maybe 6’11.25 is what he should be listed . Problem is that people that size don’t have the best posture so if you see someone like that it would appear taller. I have a 6’7” friend with equal (great) posture to mine and that is the standard to which I see 6’7”. If I see someone else with worse posture or who is really 6’6 range it always looks off to me. It’s imbalanced when I see my 6’6 flat friend at times as he is opposite with poor posture and can look eye to eye with me at 6’4.25 on occasion when in reality he is a solid 6’6” guy only coming down to that in the afternoon and waking Around 6’6 7/8 in the morning. Durant may be 6’9-6’9.5 range but not less or more. And he also has good posture at times when he appears taller than most and poor posture when he tries to fit in
Robbe said on 28/Jan/20
KD with 6'11.75 listed Bill Walton, and Bill with 6'10 listed Hanno Möttölä.

Bill is obviously not even close to his current listing. Looks an inch shorter than Möttölä, so 6'9 might be close to the truth for Bill. What comes to KD, he looks slightly shorter than Bill there, but camera angle favours Bill, so they might be the same height, or KD even hair taller. KD is definitely not under 6'9, that's for sure.
Canson said on 13/Jan/20

I don't think my brothers and i all follow my dad gene, sometimes it could be taller grandparents a bit of tall gene passing down to the next of next generation down which my mom's dad is 6'4 that explain why two of my brother got up 6'7 1/2, one 6'4 3/4 and me 6'5 5/8 all thanks to grand-dad.

Well I think his parents heights help, but you end up sometimes having a child who gets more of the taller aspects of genes, so ends up several inches taller than a doctor's height prediction range. In reverse, you might find cases of a child ending up several inches below the expected range.

@Canson I know what u mean I was asking avout a player unless I'm missing one of my comments. Around here so many average people claim shoe heights that if you claimed 6'5" which is about your early in day barefoot height nobody would doubt it. Many would say hes at least and maybe 6'6". I dont think I've ever had anyone guess me under 6'2" even though I can dip as low as 6'1" which is also likely due to almost always wearing some type of Air Max which are pretty tall so even if I'm at a low I'm still standing about 6'2 1/2" in my normal shoes.

Canson said on 25/Oct/19
@Cedric172: rob has said before and we can all verify that your afternoon and evening don’t vary by more than maybe 1/8”. 3/8” like you’re suggesting would be a morning height
Canson said on 25/Oct/19
@Shane: to answer what you said, I may look 6’4.5 to 6’5” to some honest people if they measure earlier in the day but if a person is an honest person who measures barefoot in the afternoon and I have a regular 1” shoe or go down to 5/8” then I look 6’4” to them only being about 1/4” over. Typically the most I should look to the average person is 6’4 1/2 since the average person doesn’t measure out of bed. Usually minimum an hour or two. Most don’t even know it does vary. Usually outside of this site, I never even bring that up except with my taller friends who claim their afternoon heights too and we discuss it occasionally. Other than that I don’t. If someone claims a height I will bounce it off my afternoon since I’m typically asked or gauged after I’ve been up for some time and I’m almost always closer to that height. When someone asks I always say 6’4”. Of course there are times I get a 6’3 range guy who claims 6’4” or 6’2.5 or so claiming 6’3 but I still maintain 6’4”. Really no desire on my part to be any taller either whereas in your case you prefer 6’2” over 6’1 and change for your claim. It’s gonna vary person to person. I know some athletes will claim their height in shoes and not even say it’s in shoes. You on the other hand are at least honest in that respect in that you would say that is a shoe height. Lol I have encountered some that don’t. One tried to convince me and a friend after he inflated us after repeatedly being told he’s not the height he claims, why he should be allowed to claim his shoes as a last ditch excuse because another guy stood up and told him the same thing and flat out said that he was a liar. Two people is one thing but When you try to inflate a third person you lose face and he resorted to it. It became well I walk around in shoes so I should be able to claim them. You all should claim yours too. This is a guy who was slightly shorter than me probably 6’3.5-.75 who claimed 6’5”. Didn’t help that my 6’5.25 friend was over an inch taller even with flats on and that I had him by half inch at least

@Rob: you mentioned Durant perhaps not forcing posture. Some guys naturally stand their best already. I don’t have to force mine typically when I stand as it is habit

Guys, if you see his claims makes 6'9.75" make sense.

He measured 6’9.5 a few weeks ago so how would 6’9.75 make sense?

@Rampage: either to make his accomplishments more impressive or because so many people make it a point to make him taller than he is. To be honest we don’t even know what time if the day he measured 6’9.5. Very possible he never grew. Durant has proven prior to him embellishing his height to be a truth teller in a liar’s world at least on paper. Of course these guys who were really 6’6” and listed 6’8 or 6’9” forced him to be called out

Durant May be one of the guys who actually is an afternoon measurement or close to one simply because he didn’t want to be listed any higher. I don’t go below 6’9.25ish. Lebron could be just under 6’7 if the 6’7.25 was morning. The Team lied about 6’8.5”. He may be that with shoes. Lebron admitted on two occasions since he’s played that he’s 6’7”

@Canson I'd be like pretty much every player besides Durant and want the taller listing for sure, yes, especially after being listed in shoes my whole life. Canson said on 16/Oct/19
@Shane: if that were you would you want to be listed taller? Meaning if you were in KD’s shoes? If it were me, I would want at my size to be listed taller during the draft process perhaps but once I’m already established I wouldn’t care if I came out to only be 6’4” versus being listed 6’6” in shoes like I was in college. If I were KD not so sure. He is the opposite but I doubt it would hurt him now even if he’s listed taller being the players and coaches and everyone else already knows he’s taller at least in shoes. If in a personal life outside of playing ball I would rather go with the height that I measure the most which is 6’4” because it’s what I look and claim

My guess for Klay is that it was as early but that Draymond was a true “out of bed” via laying down possibly and that Klay was probably an hour after waking perhaps. He looks probably a CM taller it not half inch max
Canson said on 10/Oct/19
@Rising: maybe 4-4.5” but my guess is KD was morning measurement. Draymond even went on to measure himself and was 6’5.75 lol. See the bench next to him where he was laying down lol. I bet KD was 6’9.75 or 6’10 and Draymond 6’5.75 is likely out of bed like you said before once and he’s down to 6’5” flat. He was only able to get just to 6’5.75 which means to me he can’t even hit 6’6 out of bed. I bet KD is 6’9.25 or 6’9.5 at a low tops too
Rising174cm said on 9/Oct/19
Now that we know Draymond Green is only 6'5", Durant really looks nothing over 6'9" with him and it makes sense why Durant looked 6'9" with Klay Thompson yet at least 6'9.5" next to a supposedly 6'5.75" Green. I was right that Green's 6'5.75" measurement was early. Next to other confirmed heights, Durant consistently looks around 6'9". Dirk had 2" on him and he's no taller than 6'11" as you can see when Dirk has stood next to legit 7'0" Pau Gasol and 6'11.5" Tyson Chandler.

By the way you were way off on Derrick Rose. You didn’t believe me when I said 6’1” range. He’s now listed 6’1”.
Editor Rob
Durant could indeed still fall to 9.5, but it might be later in the day.

Saying that, straight out of bed who knows what Durant really measures...obviously clears 6ft 10 but how much...

It could go either way tho, Rob. He may be what viper says although I would think not. If he were 6’9.5 he may have been rounded down. They prob to be honest know height varies or I’m sure that they realize with scrutiny (in some cases like Green or Rose or Thomas provided they’re all 6’5 6’1 and 5’8 at lows) that the measurements wouldn’t hold water if they were actually validated. But I tend to agree with you that durant is probably over 6’10” out of bed. My estimate is 6’10.5 out of bed 6’9.5” at a low or maybe 1/8” less. DeAndre Jordan still is taller than him. Jordan got a 6’11” listing meaning he probably was at least 6’10.5 when measured and maybe he dips to 6’9.75 like he was measured before. Jordan plays a different position tho Center so he was prob ok with it
Editor Rob
Most people would have estimated him 6ft 10 range, but what he falls to at worst is debatable. I'd love one of these guys to show their first thing out of bed and evening height to see how much they shrink!

Canson said on 7/Oct/19
@Rob: he doesn’t even look 5” taller than draymond Green. I doubt he didn’t stand tall. Likelihood is the 6’9.5” is his barefoot height at a low and in his case they didn’t give an exact measurement so it could’ve been 6’9.75 for all we know

Canson said on 6/Aug/19
@Junior: I totally agree 6’9-6’9.5 is possible for KD. KG I doubt is that much over 6’11”. I guess that’s possible but 6’11” flat is too. He is noticeably shorter than shaq. As for Webber 205 is possible but I’d say a bit weaker. 204-205. See him with an aged Magic and that’s 1.5”. Webber didn’t have 3” on Jalen Rose who was 6’6”. Sotoris posted a pic of them just a couple days ago and it’s 1.5” with magic johnson and C Webb. Not to mention Mo Cheeks said that Webber was 6’8-6’9
GreyV said on 6/Aug/19
Funny how KD is one of the very few who didn't lie about his height, but everybody else in the league and the media made him taller than he actually is. He's a legit 206cm, maybe 207cm guy. I can buy 6'10" on shoes, but I hate that sort of measurement, since it shouldn't matter how tall you are in shoes.

My guess:
min. 6'9"
max. 6'9.75"

Now is it possible that he had already lost a bit of height at the Draft Combine, making him a 6'10" out of bed? 'Cause these guys lose a lot more during the day, and I can't see him lower than 6'9".
Chris Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 5/Aug/19
@Canson But more chance is that KD is somewhere 6'9 1/4-3/8 zone not under it and KG a solid 6'11 1/8. I'm not sure about Chris Webber but he look 205cm range to me.
Canson said on 2/Aug/19
@Junior: exactly. And that’s all commentators. Hubie Brown and even Chris Webber who is usually honest about height did it. Webber claimed 6’9.5 (that’s a shoe height for him) and said Durant would probably be at least 3” taller than he is. He’s probably never even stood with him and Webber has said before he’s 6’9” and people who’ve met him that I’ve heard say 6’8/6’9. Spencer Haywood was one of them saying he wasn’t as tall as he expected. Webber stood next to garnett when they played and he was towered. He was also noticeably shorter than 6’9.75 (at best) Rasheed Wallace. Wallace was also noticeably shorter than Garnett. 7’0” is ridiculous let alone 7’1”. 6’11” at least he claimed but that’s in shoes rounded up. He probably did that to make what he’s done sound better same way Barkley would claim his barefoot height and round down from 6’4 5/8 or 6’4 1/2 to 6’4” at times
Chris Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 31/Jul/19
@Canson That 7'1 call out is delusional Lol. KG is 6'11 and had KD by near 2".

Canson said on 20/Jul/19
A lot of people took his claim of 6’11 or 6’10.75 seriously and now want him to be that height. Especially commentators. I even heard Nick Wright call KD 7’1”
Canson said on 17/Jul/19
A 6’1.5 Curry would make Durant no more than 6’9 or a hair over. He isn’t 6’10. And curry got measured early morning so he isn’t over 6’1.5ish

6’10 maybe 6’10.25 max out of bed, 6’9.25 at a low. 6’9.5 maybe earlier in the day to get his 6’10.75 in shoes
Canson said on 8/Jul/19
@Viper: I think a shoe measurement earlier in the day. He also says CP is 6’0” and everyone knows he’s not 6’0” barefoot. He’s max 5’11

I just measured 6-3.75 straight out of bed. I mean I felt much taller than usual. I was in bed the whole day.

So I could maybe measure that at the NBA combine? They basically walk right out of their hotel room.
Canson said on 6/Jul/19
He’s shorter than DeAndre Jordan and within 1/2” of 6’9 Demarcus cousins. He’s not 6’9.75. He measured 6’9” at the combine and likely an afternoon measurement whereas Cousins was morning. If he’s grown it’s less than 1/2”

@Wolfsbane Kevin was a 19 year old kid at the time. So it is possible he could grow a fraction more since then. I know a majority of people stop growing around 17-18. But quite a few can grow a fraction or even more after 18 years of age.

@Wolfsbane: agreed. He may have grown a hair but I doubt he’s outside of 6’9” range. Maybe max 6’9.5 but I think it’s because people speak different languages. So a person talking in shoes Durant would be 6’10” range just as Russell Westbrook calls Durant 6’10” and himself 6’3”. Russ is 6’2.25 max like he was when drafted so Durant may be 6’9.25 perhaps
Wolfsbane said on 31/May/19
@ Canson: I think what I wrote was quite clear but just to clarify - Kevin Durant's true height WITHOUT shoes would be 6'9" unless he has grown since the Draft Combine 2007/08.

His height WITH shoes (his NBA height) would be between 6'10.25" and 6'11".

There has been some confusion as to his NBA height which usually go by height with shoes so hopefully this clarifies his height for both with and without shoes.
Canson said on 27/May/19
@Wolfsbane: are you saying he would be listed at that in the NBA or would be that in shoes? The would be part is unclear because none of that changes what he actually is 6’9” range
Wolfsbane said on 25/May/19
He measured 6'9" without shoes and 6'10.25" with shoes at the Draft Combine 2007/08.

NBA heights are widely measured with shoes. Many players add 2 inches between no shoes and with shoes so Kevin Durant's height would be between 6'10.25" and 6'11" with shoes depending on the shoes he is wearing.

I was at a cookout with durant years ago. Stood around him for hours. I'm a smidge over 6'0 with shoes on.

I've never felt so short in my life. 2 of my friends who were with me are both 6'3 with shoes and also looked laughably short.

He also has horrible posture.. He's easily 7'0 in shoes.

Literally Google KD with anybody else in the league listed as 6'11 or 7'0... KD always looks the same height or taller.
Canson said on 26/Jan/19
@Junior: I wouldn’t go that far. It’s very possible he can dip to 6’9 especially after a game. But the latter would constitute an extreme low. 6’9.25 is reasonable imho
Canson said on 12/Jan/19
@Viper: correct they would not. People say that all the time about him but he’s an honest guy in an inflator’s market. If he’s over 6’9” it’s a fraction not an inch or two and prob not even Half if we go by lows like for you being 6’2.75ish and me being 6’4.25ish

His pre draft is 6’9” so he obviously isn’t 6’11”. Durant isn’t 5” taller than Melo or 4” taller than Lebron.
Canson said on 8/Jan/19
@TrevorM: if he’s 6’7” it means that Lebron is only 6’5 or possibly a hair under. I’ve met Melo in person and he looked at worst a very legit 6’6”. Look at KD with Melo and he’s surely not 6’7”. Melo is also shorter than Lebron
Canson-6'4 3/8 said on 25/Dec/18
@Rising: I’d lean toward weak 6’10” for Giannis today. Duhon is right he is taller than Durant today. He looks taller with Kobe. Giannis looks 6’10”ish with him imho. As for the others

Durant imho is maybe a hair over 6’9” at a low. The 6’9.25 was probably a better look. He would easily be 6’10 out of bed though. I would say Curry is 6’1.5 judging how he stacks up to Draymond and being that he was in the same class as Blake and they were all measured early morning. Curry looks shorter than Westbrook who I do believe would be 6’2.25 like measured. I also have Harden at his low at 6’3.5 max. He doesn’t look as tall as most 6’4” range guys
Rising - 174 cm said on 24/Dec/18
Durant doesn't look more than 5" taller than Harden to me. Click Here Click Here Click Here Click Here Durant was 2 in those photos and this one seems to have been right before his 24th birthday: Click Here

@Canson: They look the same height there, imo, but interestingly, Durant looks much taller than usual with both, though only 7" taller than Steph Curry so maybe that photo favors right to left.

@Duhon: I wondered about Giannis. I'd guess 6'11" Garnett about 4-5 cm taller there, but does Giannis really have an inch longer head than Garnett? Garnett's head does seem kind of small to me for a near 7 footer, but is it under 10"? Kobe does have a small head for a 6'5" guy at 9"-9.5" range, but still Giannis' head is disproportionately large with him so the difference is smaller than it looks there. Though he honestly looks at least 4" taller than Middleton in those photos and maybe 1.5" shorter than 6'11.25" Brook Lopez so he's definitely grown.

I don't think Giannis attended the pre-draft camp, but Canson is pretty much right: "When we first drafted Giannis, we measured him at 6-foot-8½," Bucks GM John Hammond says. Click Here Supposedly 7'3" wingspan. ESPN says he grew 2.5" the rest of the season to 6'11", but more noteworthy is that Hammond says the Bucks measured Giannis 6'8.5" when they drafted him. This quote is more believable from the end of the 2014 season "Measured at 6 feet, 9 1/2 inches without shoes on Thursday, Antetokounmpo is going to have to add strength in order to continue to improve." Click Here This is also interesting: “I am now 6-10 and one quarter,” Antetokounmpo said smiling.' Click Here Of course, that last article is mentioning only shoe heights for Durant and George without specifying that so it's confusing. I assume the 6'9" when drafted was a round up of the 6'8.5" the Bucks measured him, but was Giannis claiming 6'10.25" without or with shoes? I'd think with considering the supposed 6'9.5" measurement without shoes at the end of the 2014 season. I can buy 6'9.5" without shoes and a full inch growth is quite rare after being drafted. I could believe taller next to Middleton, but not as much with Lopez and especially Garnett.

@Rising: only thing with the timing is that they’re all measured around the same time. Now with Green I can see him laying down for his or being one of the first. Or padded socks maybe. Now Klay I could see being a guy who is an hour out of bed perhaps and I think he would wake up at least 6’6”. I tried to compare both to Andre Iguodala and to Shaun Livingston. Iggy is hard to gauge too. Sometimes he looks 6’5 other times can look his draft measurement or near it (6’5.5). Livingston looks 6’6” range though

@Tall Greek Boy: to be honest Durant has looked up to 4” taller than Melo in a pic or two due to angle. I highly doubt it’s just 6cm between them. Melo is likely 198-199 anywhere in that range but Durant has to be no less than 206. he’s 206-207 to be honest. It’s around a 3” diff. Allen Iverson is likely 179. His own coach said 5’10/5’11 (Larry Brown who is of similar height with him) only couple inches shorter.

@Canson: I'd guess Thompson about half an inch taller from what I've seen, but sometimes it's hard to see any difference. Also, Thompson doesn't look more than maybe 3.5" shorter than Durant while Green looks closer to 4" shorter, imo. So my guess is Thompson's 6'5.75" measurement wasn't that early while Green may be another case like Blake Griffin. I have to look at Curry more.
Canson said on 10/Dec/18
@Rising: I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Durant is slightly over 6’9”. I’ve kinda suspected it for a while. Maybe not quite 6’9.5 but that is very possible. However, 6’9.25 like Rob had him previously looks pretty good imho. I’ve noticed with Demarcus Cousins that he looks maybe a cm taller. I believe Cousins to be 6’9” flat at his low. I would say Klay 6’5 3/8 maybe Draymond 6’5” flat Curry 6’1.5

I did see Steve Kerr call Green 6’5 and saw Alvin Gentry day he’s closer to 6’5 than 6’6”. Based on how they look, I would go with (max 6’5.5) maybe 196.5 for Klay and 6’5 for Draymond

It's annoying how much most around the NBA and most fans exaggerate Durant's height. Here he is with Dirk: Click Here That was during Durant's 4th season when he was 22 and a 6'11" Dirk would mean Durant looks no more than 6'9".

Klay Thompson and Draymond Green were both supposed to have measured 6'5.75", though Thompson looks a bit taller. Click Here Click Here Click Here Durant looks pretty much 6'9" compared to Thompson's measurement, maybe a fraction over. I really think he's closer to 6'10 than 6'9... he slouches a lot on the court, but still outsizes just about everyone, outside of true 7+ footers.

@Christian and Duhon: my guess is this Ty Chandler is 6’11” at a normal low (afternoon). Durant may not be as low as a flat 6’9” but could be something like 6’9.25 or so

Tyson Chandler look 2" higher than Durant on the court. Chandler prob wasn't much over 6'11 and Durant i can believe holding a strong 6'9 1/4.

@Duhon: Chandler is leaning in a bit in that pic. But you make a good point. KD is an odd case. At times he does look taller than 6’9”. He looked 6’9” with Greg Oden but not sure if he hasn’t grown since then

@Duhon

But is Tyson 6'11.5" at his low though?
Duhon said on 13/Sep/18
@Canson Durant seems to be somewhat slumped leaning on a wall with one foot not even on the ground in that pic with AI. Durant is looking well above 6'9" here next to 6'11.5" Tyson Chandler Click Here

Larry brown said Allen Iverson was only 5’10/5’11. No way Durant is over 6’9” with him here

@Cycklops: he could still be a solid 6’9”. Thing is that people make him taller to make his accomplishments that much better as a scorer. Just like people accuse Barkley of downplaying his height when he does not in reality. He rounds down from about 6’4.5 to 6’4 (not sure if he is actually not closer to 6’4 in reality at a low). But to the Cousins comparison, Cousins is probably only 6’9” flat at a low too. His 6’9.5 was in the early morning when the president draft occurs.
