However, when you have a big star who walks around wearing Stallone like boots everywhere he goes these days, and you are confronted with a perfect "pre-superstar" photo, it seems to me that such a photo would be more relevant in determining his height. I've seen Caan looking almost as tall as Arnold Schwarzenegger in premiere pictures. His shoes probably lifts, but they weren't ridiculous. I feel he'd have to be 5'9.5" atleast to pull that off. That pic with his brother is not the greatest condidering you have a hard time seeing the top of Marks head unless you use photoshop to lighten it, and Marks shorts are so low they look like pants, making him appear short. I don't believe a full 5ft 8 for Wahlberg, considering weak 5ft 8 Ludacris is ever so slightly taller than him. 5ft 7.5.

I was a background extra some years ago on many movies and I can honestly tell you that standing right next to Sylvester Stallone on a set (who had special weird sneakers with quite some lift) still seemed to be about 5'8 next to me. I am a little bit taller and I wasn't wearing any special shoes on the set. Also, Kurt Russell seemed shorter than 5'8.

I am 5 6 and he looked up at me with my two inch heels, so in REAL LIFE, the guy is 5 6 at best. Whatever he does after that with lifts or whatever, who knows... But thats the real life fact of it.

Personally if I see Wahlberg on screen not standing next to a tall actor and he looks a good 5'10" to me. Its only when he stands next to actors like Danny Glover you realise that he is way off this tall!!

He makes Regis & Kelly look like dwarfs. Zooey is not big...he does not look big either in comparison. If he was a larger guy, she would not look so large next to him, regardless of the camera.

I've seen Fear and I don't remember the exact height difference. I remember Peterson looking down at Wahlberg though. I can't be sure as I haven't seen the movie in a long time but I remember atleast a 2 inch difference. I think Mark is 5-7.5.

Looking at the Departed premiere pictures where DiCaprio and Wahlberg had dress shoes, Mark looked a solid 5-8, or 5-8.5 if DiCaprio is 5-11.5, and Wahlberg's posture wasn't great. I didn't compare Mark to Jack Nicholson because Jack had chunky shoes and looked 5-10 compared to DiCaprio, and we all know he's not 5-10. Damon looked 5-10.5, 5-11 so he likely had a footwear advantage as well.

I met him years ago in boston - and I am exactly 5-8 and 3/4 - and he was considerably shorter than me. He's about 5'6" - 5'-7" at best. I was very surprised how short he was.

Yeah sometimes you'll be surprised when you stand straight compared to another person to compare heights without shoes.
Actually a somewhat embarrassing moment happened recently with a longtime friend. My friend is 29 and he has horrendous posture so I've thought he was 5-8 for years. He was in socks and I had really big heeled cowboy boots on and he joked that with them I might be his height. Of course since I claim 5-8 myself and I thought he was 5-8 I replied that we're about the same height without the boots so I'll be quite a bit taller with them. Then he straightened up and I stood straight, but he was still a little taller and my brother who was also there confirmed it.
Amazingly he measured 5-9 3/4 shortly after that and I've known him 25+ years(since we were young kids) and I could've sworn that the last dozen years he'd seemed 5-8 max, but standing straight he was 5-10ish.
Maybe Mark's posture isn't great which is why he often looks 5-7.5, 5-8. 5-8.25 for Cruise isn't hard for me to believe. I've seen him in elevator shoes pretty much match Kidman's height in flats and in elevator shoes he matched Cuba Gooding Jr's height in dress shoes. He was almost as tall as Leno not long ago either, Leno actually looked at Cruise's shoes when he noticed he was unusually tall for him too!

I think Rob's listing is good enough. With good posture he can look more like 5'9", but like everyone he can look shorter than he is at times. It's rare that he doesn't look anywhere from 5'7" to 5'9" and most of the time he looks 5'8".

i saw anthony anderson today. i think it was a law and order they were filming, upper west manhatten.
anyway, he was in about 1 inch dress shoes, and i was like 10-20 inches away from him. i'm 174 in the morning and i had timberlands on. Anyway anthony is 5'10". he had me by a good 1.5 inches.

I would still say he appeared to me to be 5'8" on the nose. 5'9" seems to be pushing it but would not be impossible.

in 2000,he looked 5-7 to me.in the early 90s he looked 5-9.celebs in thin dress shoes throw illusions at me.like a 5-6 toby maguire.2 years ago(last pic),he looked 5-9.25.therefore,i think he is around 5-8.5.cause maybe i was 5-7.5.
